Chapter 22-To War
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa climbs out of bed the next day and shakes Clarke. "What?" Clarke asks.
"Get ready, we leave today," Lexa tells Clarke who nods as she climbs out of bed and starts to get dressed. Lexa looks at the door as there is a knock. "Who is it?"
"Abby," Abby says and Lexa looks at Clarke.
"I'll be in the bathroom," Clarke says as she walks to the bathroom.
"Come in," Lexa says and Abby walks into the room. "How can I help you, Abby?"
"I want to come with you," Abby says.
"No," Lexa says.
"I am a healer, I will be useful," Abby says.
"That does not matter. You cannot fight. Even our healers must fight sometimes. Your medical skills are amazing, Abby. Clarke has told me about them. But you will not fight this war, you will remain here with the others. That is the end of this discussion."
"My husband and daughter are going out there," Abby says.
"Your husband and daughter have been training for months, they have fought in battles and killed, I trust them out there, I do not trust you, you will remain here and if you try and join us, I will have a guard keep you in your room until we are gone, now leave. I have a war to fight," Lexa tells Abby who glares at her for a moment before she leaves the room. A couple of seconds later Clarke comes out with her armor on and her weapons on her waist. "Your mother is a lovely person," Lexa says sarcastically.
"Thank you," Clarke says as she wraps her arms around Lexa's neck. "I'm going to go talk to Anya and I'm going to ask Emori and Otan to stay and help with Skaikru.
"That's a good idea," Lexa says.
Clarke smiles as she kisses her. "I'll see you in a little bit."
Kane's P.O.V
Kane knocks on Octavia's door and Lincoln opens the door. "Octavia in there?" Kane asks Lincoln who nods as he opens the door open for him. Kane walks in and looks at Lincoln. "A minute?" Lincoln nods as he leaves the room.
"You coming to say goodbye?" Octavia asks.
"I just wanted to see you before you go. It might be a little while before I see you again."
"If."
"When," Kane says. "I know you are going to come back. Just don't do anything stupid and listen to the Commander."
"I will," Octavia says. "You'll be safe here and don't worry about me, I'll have Lincoln."
"I know," Kane says as he kisses her head. "Go see your Mom and Bellamy," Octavia nods as she leaves the room. Kane looks at Lincoln as he walks back in the room. "Take care of her."
"I will, I give you my word," Lincoln says and Kane nods as he leaves the room.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke walked out of the throne room. She walks to Wells room and knocks on the door. Wells opens the door and looks at her. "About to leave for war?" Wells asks and Clarke nods.
"Yeah, I just wanted to see you before I leave," Clarke says as she walks in. "Murphy?"
"Went training with Harper and Jasper," Wells tells her. "Are you going to be okay?"
"I'm going to be fine and in a little while, I'll come back here, probably with a few more battle scars but I will be okay," Clarke tells him as she lays her hand on his shoulder. "You just focus on your training, alright?"
"I will," He says. "I don't like this, it feels like goodbye."
"This is not goodbye, it is see you later. Cause I will be back, I'll be fighting with Lexa. She won't let anything happen to me."
Wells nods as he hugs her. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Costia's P.O.V
Costia looked at the door as it opened and Lexa walked in. "Nice armor," Costia says. "I see you are preparing to leave."
"I am. Until I return you will remain in this room."
"You should be taking me with you," Costia says.
"No, I shouldn't. I do not trust you or know what your intentions are."
"Yet you are taking Roan," Costia replies.
"I do not trust him either, but I do know his intentions and I trust them," Lexa tells her. "When I return, depending on your behavior while I am gone, you will have a chance to earn my trust again."
"Can't wait," Costia says sarcastically. "Should I start by kissing your boots? Or did Clarke do that last night."
"I don't have people kiss my boots, especially not Clarke, she has my respect, trust, and love, you don't have any of those things anymore," Lexa says.
"I don't want it either, you used to be stronger, but now you're weak. We probably won't meet again; Nia will kill you."
"I will bring you her head, maybe I will bring you Ontari's head as well."
Costia's fist clenches. "She is innocent in all of this," Costia says firmly.
"As long as that remains true and she surrenders, no harm will come to her," Lexa says. "I will see you when I return,"
Costia doesn't say anything as Lexa leaves the room.
Jake's P.O.V
Jake puts his sword on his hip and looks at Abby as she comes into his room. "Sure, come in," Jake says to his wife.
"I wanted to see you before you left," Abby says. "I wouldn't have seen anything I haven't seen before."
"I have to go soon, Abby," Jake says.
"I don't want you to leave. We're in a bad place. We don't know what is going to happen."
"Abby, I don't know how to fix this, I don't know how to forgive you. I thought I had, I thought I had put what happened on the Ark behind me but then I saw you and all of that anger came back. My resentment towards you, my rage…my hatred. I don't know how to repair what has happened, Abby. I wish I did, right now what I need from you is space. So I can think about what has happened and how to go forward. Maybe I will figure it out while I'm gone," Jake says. "I don't know what I want right now, Abby. I have to figure that out."
Abby nods as Jake kisses her head. "Come back, I know how I feel, I still love you."
"I will try," Jake says before he walks past her and leaves the room.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke walks out of the tower and up to Lexa as she climbs on her horse. "Are we ready?" Clarke asks Lexa who nods.
"Yes, the sun is setting, we will arrive at the border around midnight," Lexa tells Clarke who nods as they slowly start to ride out of the city. The people of Polis cheer for their leader as the army leaves Polis.
Nia's P.O.V
Nia looked at her general as he walked into the throne room. "The Commander's army has left Polis," The general says.
"How long until they arrive?"
"They will arrive during the night, I have already sent a rider to the border to prepare them for the arrival of the Commander's army," Her general tells her.
"Good, once she is dead, I want her head brought to me," Nia tells the General who nods. 'I will expect good news tomorrow, General."
"You will have it, My Queen," The General says before he leaves the room.
Jake's P.O.V
Jake rode his horse behind Raven as the moon was rising in the air. "What's on your mind?" Octavia asks as she rides up beside him.
"My marriage," Jake says.
"I can't help you there," Octavia says. "But what I can say, is that you've always made the right decisions, Jake. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you so I know that you'll make the right decision regarding Abby."
"How did Kane's kid grow up to be so smart?" Jake asks making Octavia chuckle.
"Because I had both of you," Octavia says. "We'll be reaching the border soon, are you ready?"
"I hope so," Jake says. "We'll win, we have too."
"We will win."
Roan's P.O.V
Roan looked at Clarke as she rode her horse up beside him. "Are you making sure I'm not running?" Roan asks.
"No, you're not that stupid," Clarke says. "Are you prepared to kill your mother if you need to?" Clarke asks Roan who nods.
"I've wanted to kill my mother for a long time, Clarke," Roan tells her. "The world will be a much better place with her gone. Maybe we'll finally know true peace."
"I doubt it, we still have the Mountain men."
"We can't deal with them until your people get down here, so maybe we'll have a couple of months of peace," Roan replies.
"Being honest, they don't feel like my people anymore," Clarke says.
"You may not feel like they are but they do need you, your father is a good leader but he has a pure heart. You are able to make the tough decisions when it comes to it. Like sending warriors to their death
"I don't feel good about it," Clarke says.
"You shouldn't," Roan says. "But as leaders, we have to send our people to die for the group of everybody."
"I know," Clarke says. "I hope you mean everything you've said, Roan. You'll be a good leader."
"I plan to be, Clarke."
Murphy's P.O.V
Murphy stood on the balcony that night watching the city. "What are you thinking about?" Wells asks as he walks up beside his best friend.
"Earth," Murphy says softly. "It all seems so easy."
"Our friends are going to war, Murphy."
"I know, Wells," Murphy says. "But why keep us around? There are people here who don't like it. Who don't like where we came from."
"You think they have a reason for working with us?" Wells asks Murphy who nods.
"Everybody has their own motives, Wells. I want to know why they want us around."
"If you are going to snoop around, just be careful, we don't need you screwing this up for everybody," Wells says and Murphy smirks.
"Don't worry about me, Wells. They won't even know I'm there," Murphy says and Wells doesn't say anything as he walks away.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa looked at Clarke as she rode up beside her. "Are you ready?" Clarke asks her girlfriend who nods. Lexa removes her sword from her shealth.
