"Tohru! Tohru, come back!" Everyone yelled.
"What was that all about?" Kyo questioned, genuinely confused.
"You're kidding, right?" Haru retorted, annoyed.
"Not right now. We have to get Tohru before she gets hurt. Or worse—hurts herself. Haru and Momiji: you go after Tohru on foot. Rin: you come with Shigure, Ayame, and me. You two: if you want to help and be useful, go after Tohru. If not, just stay out of the way." Hatori ordered, sending everyone on their way.
"You would think she'd be happy to see us." Kyo muttered, heading one way with Arisa.
"You would think. But we did hurt her by going behind her back and seeing each other." Arisa calmly replied.
"Yeah, I suppose." Kyo sighed, frustrated.
"Do you want to go back to the apartment?" Arisa suggested, watching Kyo with lust in her eyes.
"Sounds like a plan." Kyo replied, leading the way with a tent starting to pitch in his pants.
Meanwhile:
'Why? What did I do wrong? Why did Kyo and Uo betray me like that? Why did what happened to me happen to me? What did happen to me? Why did I run away from the others like that? Why am I so stupid?' Tohru asked herself as she ran, not knowing where she was going. Tears were just pouring down her pale yet rosy cheeks.
A Few Minutes Later:
'I wish Mom or Hana-Chan were here; they would know what to do. Maybe even Dad could help.' "Mom. Dad. Hana-Chan. I want to see them again." Thoughts of her parents and Saki Hanajima ran through Tohru's head before she stopped running. Her eyes dulled until they went blank. She was gone as she spoke with no emotion.
Tohru was done with life; she just wanted to die and be with people who had loved her once before.
She had officially given up as she fell to her knees in the middle of nowhere in particular, becoming soaked to the bone by falling rain.
Tohru sat on her knees in the rain for five minutes before slowly standing up.
"Tohru!" She barely heard the cries of Haru and Momiji several feet behind her.
The only thing Tohru was focused on at the moment was an almost empty street with a single car coming from one direction.
"Tohru, no!" Haru and Momiji desperately yelled as Tohru walked into the street, ready to get hit by the oncoming car. They immediately picked up the pace a little to try to stop her. But honestly, it was futile; they were still too far away and wouldn't make it in time.
"TOHRU!" Momiji and Haru's horrified yells were heard throughout the area as the car was mere feet away from her.
Luckily for the people who loved and cared for Tohru more than anything, Hatori was driving the car she was attempting to get hit by. He stopped four feet away from her before getting out with Shigure, Ayame, and Rin.
Earlier:
With Haru & Momiji:
"Where could she have gone? And how could she run this far with how injured she still is?" Haru questioned, scratching his head.
"I don't know. I want to ask why she would run away from us like that. But I can't because I'd run from the two people who hurt me the most after not seeing them in weeks." Momiji sadly spoke.
"I know. What were they thinking showing up at the hospital like that—together like that? Why didn't they come one at a time if they wanted to visit her so much like they claimed? It pisses me off." Haru retorted, trying to remain calm so as not to change into Black Haru—something that hadn't happened in over six months.
"I'm not saying I would ever want the Zodiac Curse to come back, but it would sure be nice to still have the senses we had with them. We might be able to find Tohru faster." Momiji spoke up as they looked high and low for Tohru.
"I suppose I know what you mean. Wait. I think I see her." Haru replied before adding, squinting a little.
"That is her. But what is she doing? Did she hurt herself even more because of the running?" Momiji questioned, concerned.
"I don't think so. She's getting up now." Haru responded before informing Momiji. Even from how far away they were from them, he could tell Tohru wasn't all there.
With Hatori, Shigure, Ayame, & Rin:
"What is she thinking?" Rin questioned, frustrated.
"She's not thinking; she's hurting in every sense of the word. Kyo and Arisa showing up after not visiting Tohru in the hospital was just enough to set Tohru off. Seeing them when she hadn't seen them in who knows how long, was just too much for her right." Hatori answered, watching the roads.
"Put yourself in her shoes, Rin. Imagine how you would feel if Haru cheated on you with a best friend of yours and then all that happened to Tohru happened to you. How would you feel if he and whoever she was just showed up without previously visiting in weeks?" Shigure wisely gave Rin a scenario to think about.
"You're being awfully quiet, Ayame. What's going on in your head?" Hatori questioned, looking in the rearview mirror.
Rin and Hatori were up front while Ayame and Shigure sat in back.
"I don't know. Something feels off." Ayame honestly answered.
"I know what you mean." Hatori, Shigure, and Rin simultaneously replied.
"Well, now I know something's going to happen." Shigure spoke.
"Hatori, look out!" Rin yelled, noticing Tohru walking into the street like a zombie.
"I see her. There's no need to yell." Hatori replied, slowing to a stop a few feet away from Tohru.
"Tohru!" Momiji and Haru yelled, finally making it to her.
"What the hell are you thinking?!" Rin snapped.
"Now, stay calm. She's not herself right now. She's like how you were after your fall." Haru insisted, rubbing Rin's shoulders.
"He's right. But Tohru…" "Why?" Tohru softly questioned, interrupting Hatori.
"Why what?" Everyone questioned, confused.
"Why am I still alive? Why didn't you hit me with the car?" Tohru dully questioned, only somewhat shocking everyone. They all knew she was depressed and may not think she wanted to live anymore. But to actually attempt suicide and ask why Hatori stopped the car.
"Because we love you, Tohru. We all love you so very much. You're family; you have been since the day you walked into all of our lives. You always have been and always will be." Hatori sincerely told Tohru, holding her shoulders.
"He's right. Because of you, we're all free from that curse." Haru insisted.
"Because of you, we all had the courage to speak up to Akito. Please don't leave us behind." Momiji emotionally pleaded with Tohru.
"You're a shining light—our shining light." Shigure insisted with a sad smile.
"Our beautiful shining flower princess. What? I couldn't think of anything else." Ayame spoke with a smile before questioning the others.
"If Kyo can't see any of that; that's his loss. He's just an idiot. And that girl—Arisa; she didn't know what she had. She chose the dick of her best friend over her best friend. She can say it started as a drunk mistake or they were just comforting each other, but the truth is she just wasn't as good a friend as you were to her." Rin sternly insisted, pissed off. She was pissed at Tohru for attempting suicide and reminding her of how she used to be. But she was more pissed off at the two who made her feel this way. Still, she was even more pissed off at the one or ones who put her in the hospital in the first damn place—whoever he or they may be.
All Tohru could do at that moment was cry as she fell into Hatori's embrace. She cried and cried into his shoulder until he had everyone get in the car.
"Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?" That was the only word that repeatedly escaped Tohru's lips as they made their way to the Sohma family estate…
