Hiccup sat in his room, thinking about how easy it had been to fit into with everyone and how Kumandra had been reunited. Chief Benja had kindly given him a nice room in the palace of Heart. He had never met a chief more kind or compassionate than him. He had been very welcoming towards him. Unlike his disowned father, the chief of Heart judged him not on the outside but the inside. And on the inside, he saw a brave, special boy whom his daughter had fallen in love with.

He heard knocking at the door.

"Come in," he said.

Raya entered.

"Oh. Ji," he greeted.

"Hi," she sounded like she was dreaming.

"Is everything all right?"

"Yes. I just…thought I might come and see how you are," Raya walked across the room and sat on a seat in front of her boyfriend.

"I'm okay,"

"I see Toothless isn't around,"

"I thought he might like to take some time getting to know the other dragons. I joined him the first few times but now he's insisted that he should try and do it himself. Smokey and Sharpshot are still getting used to everyone,"

"That's wonderful,"

"Your father is so kind Raya. I've never met anyone more kind than him,"

Raya's face warmed when his words flew to her ears but her smile faltered when his face dropped. "What's wrong?"

"I just…I just really wish I had a father like you. A father who loves you exactly for you are and doesn't judge you,"

"You need not dwell on your father. Benja will do everything he can to make you feel more welcome and happy as you ever felt before on Berk,"

"He's already given me and my dragons so much. I don't know how to ever thank him,"

"You don't need to. He always said true kindness is a kindness not expected to be repaid. And that's exactly what he wishes for you,"

"I've never seen you speak so wisely Raya,"

"I owe an awful lot of that…to you,"

Hiccup's eyes were drawn to hers.

"It's just…you've opened up my heart in a way that I never felt was possible. You taught me to give people a chance before judging them. I feel like ever since we met, I found a part of myself that I didn't even know was there," Her words made Hiccup's heart pound harder every second. He felt like he was entranced by a spell of powerful adoration. "I…I love you,"

Hiccup's heart stopped for a quick second. No one had ever said that to him before. He saw the emotion burning bright like fire in Raya's eyes.

"I…I love you too," he said.

At that second, Raya's tear dropped down her face. Her feelings returned.

Hiccup reached forward and he kissed her. She kissed him back, holding his hands. They stood up. Raya pulled back and to Hiccup's surprise. She pulled off her jihadi. He knew what she wanted to do. Her fingers moved to the hem of his shirt. She saw a reluctance in his eyes.

"You may not like what you see," he warned grimly.

Raya was not afraid. She pulled off his shirt, exposing his stomach and chest. She gasped. There were all sorts of marks fixed everywhere on his skin. She walked around him, touching them gently with her fingers. "Oh Hiccup," she breathed.

Hiccup closed his eyes, remembering every single day where a new wound was etched on his skin.

Raya could not believe how many scars he had got. "What happened to you?"

"When you choose a path which none of your kind like, you tend to get marks," Hiccup felt Raya's touch his right hip where his wound from Krogan had turned into a scar. "You know how I got that scar,"

Raya dreaded that day. "It's my fault this happened to you,"

"No. The marks I receive were to protect the beings I cared about. And you are one of the most important,"

Raya traced her finger and touched one right on Hiccup's chest. It wasn't exactly a mark. It was a brand. A brand with a crest of a dragon head through it.

"That one was made from a Dragon Flyer who branded me when I was once captured. These marks are a tapestry of the burdens I've carried to protecting dragons,"

Raya leaned forward and kissed it. "I wanna burn and hunt down everyone who harmed you," She looked into Hiccup's eyes. His fingers tucked under the rim of her vest top. He pulled it off her, leaving her top half with a strapless bra.

Supporting her back, he lifted her into his arms, and she coiled her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. He carried her to the side of his bed and stood in front of it. He sat down on it and lay back. Raya dived down with him, kissing him passionately. He sat up again and Raya's legs settled to the side of his thighs. He reached for the back of her strapless bra but then looked up at her. Did she want to take it this far?

Raya had a small smile at him. She reached behind and she unstrapped her bra, tossing it to the side before throwing her arms around him again. He lifted her and pressed her against the bed, her head on the soft pillows. They kissed and snogged.

Hiccup pulled back up and looked down on the girl with whom he was making out. "I never thought I would be capable of this. This love,"

"Why?"

"Throughout my life, I have always wondered if I'd find love. But I also wondered if I would be strong enough to protect, to be worthy,"

"You are more than worthy. You are exactly what I need," Raya reached behind his locks and pulled him down to her lips and he dug in. She then pulled back after a long moment. "Is this your first time?"

Hiccup frowned playfully. "You know it is. I've never felt any love for anyone enough to have this,"

"Well…since this is the first time. Let's not take it so fast," Raya chuckled. Hiccup rolled to the side so their faces were lying next to each other. This was their first night and already they had enjoyed making out with each other. They fell asleep under the blankets.
