In a conference room filled with people dressed in colorful outfits speaking on the weekly actions of the criminal population and their work on keeping those actions to the bare minimum a bright flash filled the room for a second before it faded dropping a young man dressed in nothing but swimming shorts in the center of the table.
"Alright that was not funny at all," the young man said as he patted himself down.
The group around the table all jumped back taking battle stances.
One of the people was dressed in all black with a bat theam stepped close with a bladed weapon at the ready.
"Who are you and how did you get here?" the bat-dressed man asked in a gruff and harsh tone.
The young man opened his eyes once he was sure he had all of his body parts, looking at the voice.
"Interdimensional travel and you don't have to know who I am," he said internally geeking out at finding himself in the D.C universe.
Batman was not happy with the answer to his question and stepped forward to grab the man only to grab air as the young man sprang from the table to grab the light above the table.
"Don't touch me I'm unstable any touch can hurt us both," his words stopped the rest of the Justice League to stop their movements.
"Get down and answer my question," Batman demanded.
The young man looked at Batman man as if he were an idiot, but he did drop to the table rolling in the air to land on his hands and feet keeping his eyes on Batman.
"OK, then you tell me who you are."
"I am Batman now tell me who you are," Batman demanded his voice now a growl.
"I am shorts man," the young man said getting chuckles from all but Batman.
Losing his temper Batman threw his bat-a-rang at the young man who swatted it to the side.
"Answer the question."
"I did you just didn't want to accept it and truthfully you just don't like it. "
By now Superman and Wonder Woman were holding Batman by the shoulders to keep him from attacking.
Seeing that Batman was being held back the young man looked around to see what members were present, pointing to J'onn.
"For your safety stay out of my head, I have a natural mental defense that will destroy all intrusion."
J'onn who was preparing to scan the young man nodded and smiled at the young man for the warning for it showed that the young man was at least a decent person with those words.
Sitting at the center of the table he looked around as all but Batman seemed to calm down with that warning as well.
Even with their strength, it seemed to take some effort to get Batman to sit down with the others who had taken seats.
Blowing out a breath and looking around before looking at Superman, " Long story short, I was a normal person who was living a normal life until...
Alexander was walking home from work hoping to get home in time for the latest episode of The Flash, the last episode was when the team found out that Wells was Thawne in disguise.
A sudden flash of bright light and pain overwhelmed him before everything went black, an unknown time passed when Alexander woke.
"Welcome to the world of the awake," a pleasant voice said from the other side of a desk Alexander was lying near.
Fighting to stand up Alexander looked around and saw a man who was wearing a priest-like robe that seemed to glow from the inside.
"Umm, thanks for that but what's going on?" Alexander asked finding a seat to sit.
The man slowly looked over at Alexander with a smile, "I'm afraid to inform you that you have died in an accident, two of my children were in battle in between worlds, and their protective shields failed and a blast struck you destroying your body and damaging your soul."
Alexander sat back in his seat worry and fear crossing his face, "And now I am being judged for my final destination?"
The man shook his head, "No you are not being judged, you are here so that I can give you the information you need to live, as punishment for your death I have taken fragments from my children to repair your soul."
Alexander looked at the man with confusion, "I'm dead so what's the point in fixing my soul?"
" You were not supposed to die for another fifty years, so now you are going to be given a new body and will be sent to a world to learn how to control the powers you will gain from the fragments."
Alexander looked even more confused, "That sounds good and all but can't you just send me home?"
The man shook his head with a sad smile, "No I'm afraid not, the world already sees you as dead both the people and universal laws, even if I could return you to life I would have to turn back time but even if I did the universal laws would still see you as dead time travel or not."
Alexander slumped in his chair, " Alright so what's the point in giving me the power?"
"Punishment for my children and compensation for the damages they have caused you," the man said.
"Okay, what can I look forward to?"
"One of my children is a dimensional traveler and the other is a Plane's Walker, you will gain the ability to travel realities from both fragments, from the traveler you will gain a pocket home that will have a small home the size of a four-bedroom house with two bathrooms a kitchen and workshop, from the Walker, you will gain the ability to work the magic that will allow you to create items and even cloning people and animals after you have a sample of each, also you'll be able to learn powers from observation or being struck by a spell, with the combination of the two you will not need to gather bits of land to power your magic just let it grow over time, as well you will have a hammerspace that will start at the size of a football field it to will grow with your powers."
"That's good to know but you said I'll be sent to a world to learn how to control the powers but I'll be a blank slate for everything," Alexander said after a few seconds of thought.
"Yes I am aware but it is also a way for you to gain stability in the power, it's more about that than actually creating items and clones which you will be able to modify the clones at the time of creation, also there will be times that your powers will fall from your control as your soul integrates the fragment."
Alexander nodded slowly, " Ah I see that makes sense, so I'll take it that I'm being sent to an empty world to not harm people."
The man nodded slowly, "Yes you are going to a world where a zombie apocalypse has run its course and there are no longer any living people, I also recommend that you not enter the pocket home for long periods, it is best to have meals and bathing."
Alexander was nodding as he spoke, " So I don't have to fight to save the population from the zombies?" he asked
"Sadly for the world, all of the humans have been killed by the zombies and there are very few animals left, over time the zombies will decay and leave the planet to what animals survive in a few million years a new race will rise," the man said.
"Alright, so I am free to do as I want as long as I don't kill off the animals?" Alexander asked
"Yes that's fine but I recommend you not go about taking everything from the world such as gold and jewels it'll be useful to what comes down the line, also there won't truly be a need for it as you'll be able to create it with your powers,"
"You said I'll be able to clone living things, what if I go around adding to the animal population?"
"That's fine and up to you to do if you want, this is just a safety measure to keep any human world safe until you are stable once you are stable your powers to travel realities will be reactivated, ah before I forget when you can travel realities the first person you touch that has an ability or powers will set off a one-time traveler skill to copy the powers and skills of that person as well as an instinctual knowledge of the powers,"
"Alright, I'll do that it'll give me something to do while I wait."
The man smiled while gesturing to a wall where a door appeared, "The zombies are the common slow and weak things, headshots and broken necks will drop them, also they are attracted by sounds louder than a whisper."
Alexander nodded as he stepped through the door, after a brief flash he found himself in a mostly empty mall, there were a few zombies in the area that were stumbling around.
Looking around Alexander found a chunk of stone on the floor, quietly he crouched to pick it up and stood again, drawing back he threw the stone hard.
The stone flew fast and hard until it struck a wall several hundred feet away, the sound of impact drew the zombies away from him, and he looked at his hand and then where to stone was.
'He forgot to tell me that I would be stronger,' he thought to himself.
Alexander watched them shuffle toward the sound, he turned to see if there were more coming from other places that could hide them.
After a few minutes and no new zombies appeared he quietly fled into what looked to be an electronics store, the items looked to be a few years above the stuff from his home world, and he moved through the aisles touching stuff and felt the power to copy things working to file away the information to create items in a corner of his mind for later use.
Computers, Televisions, stereos, and a few other things entered his mind, he left the store to find a place filled with clothes to copy, it took him several minutes to gather the patterns of all types of clothing for all situations.
Existing the mall as quietly as possible he found that the zombies were spread out which allowed him to pick his way through the parking lot to choose from the cars, he picked a small car for quick movement in some areas as well as a hummer-like vehicle for off-road travel.
What threw him off about the vehicles was that they were not powered by fossil fuels but by electricity, the closest thing he could think of was that they seemed to be like the arc reactor from Ironman.
For a week he moved through the city he found himself taking scans of anything that caught his attention, occasionally popping into the house to bathe and eat never spending more than an hour.
It was the seventh day of his time in the world that the first outburst of his powers happened, he was sitting on a bench watching the sunset when he felt his skin tingling and then suddenly wrapped in a bubble of blue light that raced away from him pushing everything away from him before everything went black again.
When he regained awareness he found that not much time had passed, looking around he found himself sitting on the ground in a very clear and large circle, at the edge of the circle everything was torn apart and burning.
"Yeah I am not going to be anywhere near the house when this happens," he said while looking over the destruction.
A year passed by with Alexander moving from place to place copying items he thought would be useful or cloning animals of all sorts, he would have to admit that he may have overdone it with the animals, but he did feel like he made a difference for the possible future of the world.
In the second year, Alexander had covered a large portion of the continent he was on, in that time he had not been idle, he had copied many things which now included several types of motorcycles and small aircraft that took months to learn to fly.
During that time the outbursts slowly went from happening weekly to monthly, which allowed him to spend more time in his home and experiment with the motorcycles in the workshop, only once did he nearly destroy the house with an outburst.
Year three passed with him finding several labs in which he discovered that the humans of the world had been the cause of the zombie outbreak.
The destruction of those labs was beautiful, using knowledge from his home world about collapsing a building from a documentary about high-rise buildings he set the world's equivalent of C-4 everywhere.
In the week it took to set up the explosives on every floor and in every room he could reach, tons of explosives and miles of detonation wire were used.
He forgot one thing when setting everything up and that was the control board to set off the C-4 in sequence, so when he set it off from half a mile away the explosion scattered the building over a quarter mile from where the building once was.
"Oops," he said while smiling.
"Yes, that's a bit much for such a small building," a voice said from his side.
Alexander jumped ten feet up and five over from being startled, the shockwave from the explosion hitting just before he landed throwing him several more feet away.
"Jumpy much?" the voice asked.
Getting to his feet and dusting himself off Alexander looked at the voice seeing a man who looked to be a few years older than himself.
"Hey I've been alone for three years and some change so give me a break." Alexander snapped.
The man held up his hands, "Sorry I didn't think of that, father sent me to check in on you and to tell you that you need to cut down on the animals, you've almost overpopulated the world with them."
Alexander slumped while remembering the pack of wolves that was nearly a hundred strong that he saw a few months back.
"Yeah I know I cut down on the carnivores and increased the herbivores to offset the hunting, in a few years the balance will reset."
The man chuckles, "Yeah he saw that but what about the plant life?"
Alexander looked confused for a moment, " I've been spreading seeds as I go."
This time it was the man who looked confused, "Ahh the birds."
"Yeah I have some control over them on creation so I gave them orders to spread out seeds as well as cover the areas they make home," Alexander said looking around.
The man nodded, "Father didn't look all that closely just seeing that you were still alive, when he saw you setting up the bombs he grew concerned."
Alexander's face stiffened, "The zombie virus is man-made and this is ground zero, I didn't want the future people possibly finding this place and going for zombies 2.0."
The man shook his head while looking at the creator where the building once was, "Ahh then no harm no foul."
When the sounds of shuffling and moaning reached them Alexander looked around to find a horde of zombies coming their way.
"We may want to leave the area that explosion was loud enough to draw in the zombies from three states away," Alexander said while creating two motorcycles that resemble Kawasaki Ninja 400's with helmets.
"You do know that we are immune to the virus right?"
"Nope didn't know that but I also don't want to find out what it feels like to be a chew toy," Alexander said while hopping on a motorcycle and starting it up being electric they were silent.
"Hey these are nice, I'm going to keep this one," the man said mounting his motorcycle and following Alexander.
"Merry Christmas, " Alexander said while dodging zombies and vehicles.
The man laughed following Alexander, for nearly an hour they had to dodge zombies in various sizes of groups before the hordes thinned out enough to be safe.
Parking the motorcycles in the parking lot of what looked to be a military base, Alexander looked around and found that there were no zombies around for the time being.
"Alright let's walk and talk, I want to see what kind of nice toys they left behind, " Alexander said while heading to a building that looked like a warehouse.
The man shook his head while following, "There's not much else to say really."
Alexander found that the warehouse held several types of tanks and other vehicles that would be useful if he ended up in a war zone in his traveling.
"Yeah that's cool I just found that place while looking for tech I could possibly use to up lift a world if its near this level plus adding to my workshop if the stuff was good but when I was going through the data I found the files on the test they did so I decided to make it go boom," Alexander said as he copied a tank.
Moving through the warehouse he copied several things, a amphibious truck as well as a hover craft, leaving the warehouse the two found the weapons depo.
"Ohh look at these toys," Alexander said picking up what looked to be a M-16 but it had no magazine.
"Yeah I'll take one of those as well and maybe the pistols also, " the man said picking up a pistol to get a good look at it.
"Yeah a railgun I can carry instead of having to need heavy equipment to move is nice, I have to see if there are any sniper riffles in here."
"No offense but isn't that a bit much?" the man asked.
"Nah I'm going to be bored with not making any animals now so I'm thinking about doing a live action Call of Duty zombie mode for a while."
"Huh didn't think of that, oh look here drone's both armed and unarmed."
Alexander practically bounced over to get a copy of each, "So which one are you the traveler or walker?"
"Walker its easier for me to get around than my brother, sorry by the way, we got into a pissing match over a world near yours and well you know what happened."
Alexander shrugged while going to get the controller for the drones, "I've had three years to get over it plus I got powers so the trade off makes up for it and once I get stable I'll get to see world's I've only dreamed of."
The man stared at him for a moment before laughing, it took him a few minutes to regain his composure.
"Alright that is good news but I am also here to deliver a package from father and offer you a companion, " he said catching his breath while tossing a blue crystal ball to Alexander.
Alexander caught the ball and felt knowledge of how to empower people and things enter his mind, "Companion?" he asked after a brief wave of dizziness hit him, " Pop's said I would copy the powers and abilities of the first person I touch."
The man shook his head, "It's got to be someone with powers to happen and if you empower someone it won't happen so I am offering you a basic human."
"Yeah that makes sense I guess, so are the options?"
"I've been walking realities for a while so you have a few picks, let's see I've been to some Stargate SG1 and huh not many none powerd worlds in the list, I need to try and get to the normal worlds, "
"Sam!!!" Alexander almost shouted.
"Pre Tok'ra is the best I can come up with," the man said rubbing his chin.
"Tok'ra?" Alexander asked.
"Yeah Sam got to be host to a Tok'ra one time,"
"Yeah what's a Tok'ra I only watched up to like episode five of season two and I don't remember her getting taken as a host."
"Happened mid season three I think,"
"Huh I was on reruns, parents didn't like TV so I didn't get to watch anything until after I got a job and my own place," Alexander said.
"Ahh yeah that sucks and is going to limit your direct travel, but then again you can find some good stuff in random worlds especially if you don't know what you are going to find,"
" Yeah I know some comic worlds and books its just TV stuff I don't know much about."
"That'll help just remember things don't always match up with what you will know," the man said while tapping a few crates labeled as claymore mines.
"Yeah I got that when I came here the zombie apocalypse movies I've seen are in the 80's or 90's and this place has some tech at least a hundred years beyond what my home world had."
Suddenly Alexander stiffened up as the tingling feeling hit him, " Gotta run it's time for an outburst and I don't think it will be safe to happen in here,"
The man looked confused for a second before nodding as he remembered, " Get going I'll have Sam waiting for you when you get back."
Alexander didn't wait and ran the world around him becoming a blur until he hit the door breaking it off the hinges, he made it to the center of the parking lot before the wave washed away from him clearing a circle around him.
When he regained awareness he found himself looking up at the man and a woman who looked like Amanda Tapping only in her early twenties and dressed in military fatigues.
"That's something I didn't think you'd call an outburst, that is what I call a wave of destruction," the man said then looked up at the area that was cleared out.
"Aww come on I just got that bike," the man said after seeing his new bike was now a twisted wreck.
"I'll get you a new one," Alexander said as he picked himself up.
Another three motorcycles appeared beside Alexander.
"Sweet," the man said as he patted one of the new bikes and it vanished into what Alexander assumed was a hammerspace.
"You're going to tease your brother with the new toy aren't you?" Alexander asked.
The man grinned, " Now that you mention it that sounds like a good idea, I should get a few days of entertainment before I give him one or two."
Turning to the woman he smiled and waved, "Hello I'm Alexander..." he stopped and turned to the man, "I just realized I can't remember my last name."
The man nodded, "Yeah it's one of a few possible things one loses when they become like us, I lost my full name so just pick something to use in whichever world I am in, my brother lost all personal memories,"
"That sounds awful, I'm Samantha Carter by the way, but you can call me Sam," Sam said looking between the two.
"She is aware that she is a clone, with all of the original knowledge and intelligence but none of her memories, or she would spend almost every waking moment trying to find a way to get to people who already have a Samantha Carter."
"Are you alright with that?" Alexander asked her.
Sam shrugged, "Can't miss what I never knew, plus I get to play with new tech, and if I accidentally destroy it you can make me more to play with,"
Alexander nodded slowly then looked to the man, "So I can power her up and it won't do that copy thing that'll happen if I touch someone with powers?"
The man shook his head, "Right now she is a basic human, and it would be like trying to copy something that you already have."
Alexander nodded slowly, "Any limits I should be aware of?"
"Your power level is what will limit what you can give, you can't give anyone the power to open doors to other realities aside from giving them a kind of key to your home but you can revoke the key at any time."
"So I can give her the ability to create items and clones?"
"Items yeah but clones need two things magic and the knowledge of how souls are made, it's part of the Walker package and nontransferable without fathers or another of his level granting it."
"Magic and knowledge of how souls are made?" Sam asked.
The man nodded, " A body needs a soul and magic to spark it all off, I don't know how it all works just that it does, think of the ability to clone living things like a heart beating the brain makes it work without the person thinking about it."
Sam was nodding, "So he can make it so I can make things?"
"Yeah that's it plus a few strengthening powers father sent me here to deliver oh and the hammerspace."
Sam turned to face Alexander her eyes growing wide and sparkly, " Please treat me well and allow me to join you in your travels."
Then man burst out laughing as Alexander took the one attack no man can guard against.
"Umm sure you are welcome to join me just remember when I say I gotta go it's not an excuse it's a warning to keep you safe from this, " Alexander said gesturing around.
Sam looked around the area slowly nodding, "Yeah I can see, how often does this happen?"
"It was a weekly thing but over the last three years, it slowly changed to what it is now in about a month and a half."
Sam's eyes grew wide in shock, "You've been alone for three years?"
"Yeah," Alexander said.
Sam rounded on the other man, " Why was he left in this hell alone for that long?"
"It wasn't safe until recently, his outbursts were too random and he barely had notice now he gets a few minutes warning so he can get to a mostly open area," he answered.
"Yeah once dropped a house on myself about two months here, what do you think would have happened if I had a companion if they were in the house or even near me in the open," Alexander said, gesturing to the wreckage around them.
"Okay but you could have found a way to contact him at least once in a while," Sam said looking between the two.
"I wasn't completely alone I had the animals to talk to for a time until I sent them off to repopulate the wildlife,"
"That's not the same, humans need human contact," she said exasperated.
"Umm I don't get it," Alexander said looking confused.
"Emotionally and physical contact, hugs, and other things even just someone else to speak with and receive a reply," Sam said while she seemed to be losing her temper.
"Oops," the man said before snapping his fingers.
"Oops, what Oops?" Sam asked.
"Forgot father set an emotional dampening seal on him to keep him sane," the man said.
Alexander felt dizzy for a second before it faded his emotions were unlocked, and without the emotional dampening, he couldn't keep himself from looking at Sam closely.
"Yeah that's not a good thing to leave on I don't think I would have left this world, but at least I didn't feel what I should have after being alone for this long," Alexander said after peeling his eyes off of Sam's figure.
Sam looked at the man and then at Alexander who was trying to not stare at her he was attracted to her but she knew he had been alone for three years and would take some time to get his bearings again.
"Well, that's me done," the man said before vanishing in a flash of light.
Sam looked at Alexander and then to the spot where the man was standing, "Did he just?"
"Yeah, I think he did," Alexander nodded.
"So now what?" she asked after they stood looking at the spot.
"Hammerspace and shopping for clothes for you."
Her eyes seemed to glow for a second at the mention of the Hammerspace and clothing.
Feeling a sudden urge to run for a second, he licked his finger and swiped it across her hand.
"What was..." she started to ask before trailing off as the knowledge of how to use the Hammerspace flooded into her mind.
"My fluids help as a conduit to pass on powers and I didn't think you'd want my blood or other stuff on your skin saliva is cleaner and well less embarrassing," Alexander said knowing what she was going to ask.
"Shopping," Sam said.
"Alright let's go after we finish up in here we have a full armory to look through," he said while pointing behind her.
She pouted for a second until he held up a riffle-sized railgun and then passed her a pistol and holster, he had to guide her to the armory door as she was looking at the gun like it was her first Christmas present.
For a few hours they scoured the base for gear and technology, Sam's hammerspace filled quickly, "I'm running out of space to put stuff," she complained.
"Once I empower you the space will grow, also you don't need to take everything you will be able to make stuff."
"Umm I didn't think of that," she said while mentally doing an inventory, " Where did I get the six pallets of toilet paper?"
"Not sure we were in different parts of the building some of the time."
"Alright, I may have gone overboard a little but you have to admit that you did the same thing when you got the ability," Sam said while dropping a few pallets and several other things that she had several copies of.
"Yeah I had several sports cars and other things like that in my hammerspace," he said with a sheepish grin on his face.
Sam smiled at his expression, "So shopping?"
"Shopping," Alexander said his shoulders drooping.
"Come on it's not that bad, I am sure it will only take a few hours," she said trying not to grin at the look of fear crossing his face.
"Let's go find a mall," he said trying and failing to keep his voice from trembling.
Walking to the motorcycles they sat on, Sam looked around for a helmet until she saw him lifting the back half of the seat and pulling one out of a compartment.
Doing the same she found a helmet that looked a little too big to fit, "They auto-size, scared the hell out of me the first time it happened."
She nodded then pulled the helmet on when it shrank to fit her she flinched a little when the faceplate flickered a few times and then filled with a framework display of everything in her view.
Alexander was waving a hand to get her attention when she looked at him he tapped the side of his helmet where the ear was, tapping on her helmet she jumped at his voice coming from a speaker in the helmet.
"I wasn't finished explaining what you needed to know, the map can be used to dodge obstacles and map out a quick route to where we want to go and it has a built-in communication system."
She nodded, "Yeah the map is a surprise, how do I get directions?"
"Tap off the com and tell the helmet to locate the nearest mall, there is a GPS and the people here built stuff to last so the satellite is still up there," he said pointing up.
She nodded then tapped off the com, "Locate the nearest shopping center."
The display in front of her changed slightly a green line overlaid the road and everything else gained a red outline.
"Got it, the estimated time is... I don't know the numbers, how are letters the same but the numbers are different?"
"Think Roman with a slight twist, It took me a year to figure that out, the shape is the same if you look at the core and take off the embellishments, those twists, and swirls are just to make the numbers look good, it also makes it easier to distinguish letters and numbers."
"Oh ok, that helps, so if I'm reading this right the trip will take an hour, that way, " Sam said pointing in the direction that he had blown up the lab.
"Yeah no let's see about somewhere else that way lies trouble,"
"Why?"
"I kinda blew up a lab that way and the explosion drew in a large horde," Alexander said sheepishly.
"How?"
"A few tons of C-4."
"Why?"
"Ground zero for the zombie outbreak."
Sam nodded then tapped off the com and requested a new shopping center in the opposite direction and received a new map.
"An hour and a half that way, " she said pointing.
Nodding Alexander started his motorcycle in a way that Sam could see how to do it.
"It's almost the same as a normal motorcycle other than needing a kick-start also they have a silent run or a small compressor to imitate the sound of an exhaust, keep it on silent for now or we will attract zombies."
Sam nodded and then started her motorcycle and took the lead, for most of the trip they chatted about what he had done while alone or planned to do once he could leave.
"Well I do want to find an SG1 world that is in its early days and give them a boost here and there, the weapons will come in handy off-world and the vehicles and computers will be a way to get funding without having to rely on black book dealing."
"That's a good idea but to pull it off we would need to arrive at least ten to fifteen years before the project first works and set it all up then wait for the SGC to begin full-time operations." Sam rebutted.
Alexander groaned, "A couple of clones to get it going and we jump out for a little while the return when operations get going."
"We can set up some identification and background for them but what about their free will?"
"Simple orders to make a company and slowly build it up anything outside that their lives are their own."
"Empowerment?"
"Just intelligence, if they have powers and it got out the government will take everything they have and most likely use it to cause wars, as civilians and owning the company fully the government cannot touch a thing especially if taking the company will largely impact the economy."
"Okay, it looks like you've thought about this for a while so how are they going to get tied up with the SGC?"
"Building vehicles and computers to start and branch out to weapons a few years before Apophis shows up to take that airman to see if his queen wants her for a host."
"Ah have them build the supercomputer for the gate so they already have some ties with the program and possibly build the M.A.L.Ps in a smaller but better way."
"Exactly, and here comes my doom," Alexander said as they pulled into the parking lot of a medium-sized mall.
Sam was laughing as she removed her helmet, "It's not going to be that bad."
Alexander grumbled as he took his off as well and put it back in its compartment.
"Says you, you're going to be trying stuff on and asking me for an opinion and I will say it all looks good on you while in my mind I'll be imagining you in your underwear."
Sam blushed at his statement and then got an evil grin, "What underwear?"
His eyes glazing over for a second caused her to laugh hard.
"Come on let's get this over with," he said as he regained focus and turned to the building.
Approaching the building they found that the doors had been boarded up, pushing gently they found that something was holding them closed as well.
"Let's look around for an open door or at least an easier way in."
"The roof may be the best option if all of the doors are all still blocked like these are," Sam pointed out.
"Yeah I know I am both hoping that the doors are all like this to keep from having to climb to the roof."
"Why it would mean we can take out zombies from a safe vantage point, or are you scared of heights?"
" Yeah that's true but it is most likely where people fled to when or if zombies got into the building and if they didn't want to be turned it's where they would have ended their lives."
"And you don't want to see that, alright we'll see if we can find a ground-level entrance to use," Sam said while thinking that she didn't want to find a group of bodies either.
"No, I don't, we will go if we have to but let's leave that for the last option, the last time I saw something like that there were kids."
They searched for an open or partially opened door, it took nearly thirty minutes to get to the employee entrance and shipping and receiving doors, the employee's door was broken from the inside meaning that someone had fought to get out.
"Looks like someone either turned and went after the others or someone didn't want to stay with them," Alexander said while looking the door over and found crowbar marks near the latch.
"Looks like it, look at the floor there is some blood there, they fought someone or something to get out," Sam pointed out.
" Be careful in here we don't know how many there are, I've found that getting to the center of places like this and throwing something away from where I need to go, also these guns are quiet, aim for the head," he said pointing to the sidearms on her hips.
Sam ran her fingers over the sleek pistols, " So target practice?"
Alexander nodded, "Target practice, there's a small recoil, I've only used the riffles and I will try a sniper later this week."
Sam smiled, "I've gotten the gun skills of the original Sam it'll just take some getting used to."
"Alright let's go and remember to keep an eye on your six while they aren't quiet groups will mask the approach of some," he said while pulling one of his pistols.
Sam pulled both of hers and followed him through the door, picking their way to the center of the mall where a fountain was sunk in the floor.
Alexander looked around while listening for the sounds of zombies and after a few seconds, he heard some shuffling.
Picking up a piece of what at one time could have been a part of a clothes rack, " Stay quiet for a while so they go for the sound."
Sam nodded at his whisper then watched as he threw what he picked up and winced as it struck a wall a good distance from them causing a very loud clattering.
The two watched from each other's back as the zombies came stumbling from some of the stores, for a few minutes they watched and listened as a group of twenty zombies crowded the area where the noise first happened.
Alexander lifted his pistol and pointed to it then his head reminding Sam to make headshots, aiming at a zombie he pulled the trigger, and the sound of the gun firing was like a silenced 9mm, when the zombie dropped the others turned to it and fell on it with their teeth until the next fell to Sam's shot.
When the last fell they waited for a few more minutes for stragglers but none came, "Sweep and clear."
"Clear," Sam said after a twenty-minute search.
"Get something baggy for now and let's go to the changing room I'll do the power-up, you are going to grow in height and a few other places."
Sam looked around and pulled out an oversized shirt from a rack, "Come on let's get this over with."
Grabbing his arm she pulled him to a section that had the changing rooms, stepping in a curtained boot she stored the clothes she was wearing and then pulled the shirt on.
"Alright let me see your hand," when she stuck her hand out of the room, he licked his finger and focused on the powers he knew he could pass on.
" Strength, copy and create, intelligence boost, and a copy of the house key."
Sam felt her body grow several inches in height and her strength seemed to grow as well, "Yeah I can see where I needed the bigger cloth, did my breast grow larger?"
" Yeah, that's how your body would have been if you ate properly and exercised as well."
"Okay now I need to find some new stuff to wear," she said stepping out of the room the shirt barely covering her.
"Yeah I think that's best," he said looking at her legs which were now visible, he could see that they were well-defined.
Sam reached up and hefted her breasts which were now large C cups over her original medium B cups, when she let them bounce his eye moved from her legs to her breast.
"Inspection later clothes now," Sam said while holding back a giggle.
"Yeah, that's a good idea," He said having to force his eyes off of her body.
For an hour she went through the clothing store picking what caught her attention, shirts, pants, and shoes went into her hammerspace, "I have more room to store things!!"
"Yeah that's from the magic that will allow you to copy and create stuff, you will need to practice with it and the more you do the stronger you will get, you can also destroy the things you make to regain some of the magic expended," he said while following her his eyes mostly on her bum.
" Okay, I'll work on it later, the key is interesting I can open a door to the house even in the air that'll come in handy, " she said looking over her shoulder and smirking as she followed his eyes.
"Yeah, it's been a great help I've had to use it to hide from hoards a time or two," he said looking up to find her looking at him her smirk still on her lips.
"I've gotten enough for now."
"Okay let's go get the bikes and out of town for some reason they don't move far from towns and cities unless a loud noise happens and they hear it."
They worked their way out of the mall Sam occasionally ran off into a store to copy something that caught her attention, by the time they got to the open door she had a few new things that she would be able to make and tinker with.
Once at the bikes, they put on the helmets and mounted with Alexander choosing a large park to head to for the time being.
Tapping the air with a finger a shimmering door frame appeared in front of them, "Come on in I'll give you the dime tour."
Going through the door they found themselves in the living room that had a couch facing a wall that held a large 72-inch television with a chair on each end.
"We will need to wait until we get to an Earth similar to what we know for TV, While we can watch stuff from here it's all kind of boring."
"I'll most likely be in the workshop tinkering with the stuff and seeing if I can make improvements."
Nodding he waved her to follow him up a short set of stairs that led to a hallway with three doors on each side of the hall.
"Two bedrooms on each end with a bathroom between them, I use the farthest on th left to keep clothes,"
Sam nodded and opened one of the bedroom doors and looked in and found a large bed in the center of the room against the wall across from the door with a dresser on the left side with a bookshelf on the other, behind the door she could see a TV hanging from the wall as well.
" Nice rooms you have here," she said closing the door then she went to the door to the bathroom and found it to have a shower and claw-footed tub combination with a rainfall shower head, everything else looked to be for a normal bathroom sink and mirror and a toilet.
"Yeah it's a nice set up, go ahead and pick a room and maybe put something other than that shirt on."
She looked down at herself, "Huh I forgot about that."
"I didn't and while I like the views from time to time it can get distracting," he said looking her up and down.
Smiling she went into the bathroom and closed the door, "Let me test the shower out."
"I put some shampoo and conditioner in there and some soap should be there too, towels are hanging on a rack on the door," he said before walking to the stairs and the living room.
Almost an hour later she came to the living room to find him sitting in one of the chairs handling a laptop or at least what looked to be a lapt, sittin on the couch near him she waited for him to notice her.
"This thing is nice it looks to have a hard drive that is almost a supercomputer but I can't figure out the layout of anything other than the games they all are meant to teach militant focus for the government kind of like in Starship Troopers, " he said closing the laptop.
"I can look at it later, we need to finish up with the tour," she said standing.
He stood put the laptop away looked around and nodded, " Kitchens through the door over there," he said pointing to a door across from the front door, "It's a basic kitchen with a stove, microwave, double-door fridge, and table with four chairs."
Sam nodded looking at the door, "I'm not all that good with cooking Samantha focused on tech and military stuff."
"It's fine I took the time to learn to cook over my time here."
He then went to the stairs and pointed out that some led down, "The workshop is down here I've been collecting tools and putting them down here."
He led her down to a short hall to a door, opening the door he stepped aside to let her see, her eyes grew wide as she saw a shop that was at least twice the size of the floor plan of the upstairs house.
"I haven't taken the time to work on anything mostly because of the outbursts, I could have been working on something and lost track of time and blown up the house."
"I can work on things from time to time, do you know how much longer we will be unable to travel realities?"
"No I'm not sure yet, but I think maybe a few more years," he said shrugging.
"You can work on stuff as I travel I was on my way to the equivalent of N.A.S.A, to get a scan of their projects I found a reference to shuttles that don't need fuel to launch and can make it to Mars in three days," he let her know his plans.
" But I'm here to keep you company," she protested.
"Yeah, it's fine and you can use the windows to watch the outside world and if you see something you want to tinker with, I have been alone for three years and it will take me some time to get used to having company."
She nodded slowly and then looked around the workshop spotting the windows that were showing what was around the area he opened the door.
"You can choose what to see either a scenery from this dial here by the door or the outside world near the door."
"And how do I get your attention when I spot something I want to look at?"
"Huh I didn't think of that let's go back upstairs and I'll step out and close the door and you knock on it, if I hear it I'll hop on the bike and drive and try again to see if I can still hear it," he said while turning to leave the shop.
"Yeah I forgot to put mine away so I'll get it then try."
Opening the door he let her pass to get her bike put in her hammerspace then when she returned he closed the door, waiting a few seconds he heard the sound of knocking on a wooden door, he tapped the air and opened the door again.
"I'll hop on my bike and take off to where I was heading, to begin with," seeing her nod he closed the door got on his bike, and took off after a few miles he heard the knocking again as if he were putting his ear to a door.
Stopping he remained on the bike and watched as the door opened, " That works, give me two minutes to get to the workshop to see if this will work on that door."
After a few minutes, he heard the same thing so took off at high speed now that he was on a highway, after a few miles he heard the knocking again and stopped and waited for her to open the door.
" Yeah that's great but if I'm watching the windows I won't be able to study what we have in the shop or my storage,"
"Come on out and grab a car or two, the population was nowhere as large as the Earth we know so cities are spread out, and the next city is two days travel, you can tinker while I drive, if I spot something I think you may want I'll stop and come and get you if you don't knock."
Sam looked at the vehicles along the road and found a regular-looking car as well as a sports car, when she was about to reenter the house she also picked up a truck.
"Look for more military grounds they may have more than that weapons depo," she said as she stepped back into the house.
"Alright that is doable I think the GPS said there is a base a few hours outside the city I'm heading for," he said just before she closed the door.
For the next few months the two grew closer as he got used to having company, the few military places that they found just added surplus weapons and vehicles to what they already had in their hammerspace.
It was during the second week of the trip that Sam spent more time riding with him after realizing that the workshop didn't have normal Earth components to work with to see if she could build something.
While she knew how to make something from her powers alone she wanted to try to build using parts her counterpart would have to work with.
"I'll have to wait until we get to Earth in the early nineties and get scans of anything and everything component-wise before I can try to build something."
"Yeah I haven't seen anything near the tech level I'm used to not even any museums it is like the government here didn't want some knowledge getting in the public sector," he said while tapping the air to open the door.
Entering the house he went to the kitchen to get lunch put together as she took more things to the workshop, over their time she was able to get several types of aircraft, when she took the smallest from her hammerspace the workshop expanded to safely contain the plain.
After that, she slowly emptied the vehicles from her hammerspace, "Hey Alex the workshop expanded to hold all of the vehicles I had in my hammerspace,"
After the first month, she cut his name to Alex as they grew closer, "That's nice, we'll see about organizing the stuff by type."
Sam joined him in the kitchen to eat, "I'm sure I can do that in the next week or so, those shuttles are going to be fun to pull apart."
Alex laughed, "I think we've gotten enough from this continent I think we need a boat to travel to the Japan equivalent of this world then China."
"You head to the coast and find us a boat, we'll grab a few types before heading out, even if we can't store the large battleships and subs we can copy them," she said before taking a bite of the sandwich he passed her.
"In the morning, we've been on the road a lot plus my next outburst is due tonight or tomorrow."
She nodded still chewing her mouthful of sandwich, swallowing her, "Too bad the entertainment of this world sucks, it's almost like they tried to stamp out individual thinking, everything is about what will push the whole not each part."
"Yeah I know I'm hoping we aren't here for so long that we fall into that mindset just for something new," he said as he sat to eat his meal.
She nodded, "Yeah I know what you mean but I did the math on the time changes on your outburst and I figure about five to seven years until you are stable."
"So just about the time I guessed we could explore the world after gathering tech?" he asks while getting up to put his dish in the dishwasher.
She nodded as she was finishing her meal as well, " Yeah it'll be close."
The trip to the coast took a week and their gathering of boats and other ocean going vehicles added a few days of their last days on the continent.
They decided to use a battle ship to cross the oceans, it helped that the ships course could be set using the GPS for the most part so that gave them weeks to study the figher jets and other technologies that went into the ship.
Much to their shock and disappointment they found the Asian countries to be less technical than the other places they had been, everything looked to be at least a hundred years behind.
They spent six months criss crossing the Asian countries but found the highest level technology was a black powder gun that was rusted and atleast two hundred years old.
After the Asian countries animal population was boosted they went to the European continent and found that they were just as advanced as the first country just leaning toward civilian means.
Once they exhausted finding tech they would spend months in one location and study what they could before moving on to escape the monotony.
In their third year together and his sixth year in the world they made a distilory for making alcohol, testing their brew ended with Alex waking with Sam in his arms.
Over the years they had only hugged or small kisses on one or the others cheek, they had just began with mutual gratification a few months before.
Alex was trying to find a way to release Sam when she grabbed his arms while scooting back into him, " Warm."
"Umm two things, one we are naked and two I have to use the toilet," he said
Sam slowly sat up rubbing her temples, "Less drinking next time and we've been naked together before."
"Yes but we've never been drunk and naked before, plus I am feeling sticky in ways we've not reached before," he said getting to his feet and finding that they were in a sealed room high up in a skyscraper.
Sam looked around as well before standing only to stumble, "Umm yeah I think I was a virgin I'm sore in ways I've not been before."
Alex turned to find blood on the bed they had used, " Sorry I think I may have gotten carried away."
Sam waved it off, "We were heading that way, just give me a few days to heal up before we do it again."
Stepping to help her walk he tapped open the door to the house where he took her to a bathroom to clean up and take care of her other needs.
"Thanks, I'll need a while, please gather my stuff from where we were," Sam said while turning on the faucet to fill the tub.
After leaving her he took a quick shower and then went to gather their clothes and other things from the room.
Just as he was about to reenter the house a voice called out from the other side of the door leading out of the room.
"Bout time you guys woke up, but I have to ask why y'all burnt a city?"
Alex jumped nearly dropping the stuff in his arms, "Whose there?"
The door opened slowly to reveal someone who looked like the man who he met three years ago only he had long blonde hair while the mans was short.
"I'm the traveler and its my turn to bring you a care package." the traveler said while tapping on the wall of the room opening a door to let a woman who looked like Summer Glau enter the room.
"I can't touch you so my girl here will hand it over," That said the woman stepped forward holding out a hand with a crystal orb.
"Healing and the know how to work magic similar to like Highschool DxDs angels and fallen only neutral in alignment so you won't be forced down one path or another," the traveler said as the crystal touched Alex.
New knowledge flooded his head taking him to his knees, magical circles and other ways to use the magic.
"A little warning would have been nice," Alex said after the knowledge settled in and his mind cleared up enough to think.
"Nah it's more fun this way, I'm not much of a talker," he stopped and seemed to think of something before snapping his fingers, "Cameron go get that old factory replicator and bring it here I don't need it anymore."
Alex looked at the traveler confused at what he was hearing, who doesn't need a replicator those things are handy.
" You won't be able to copy this one for a few hundred years its power source is on a level that it takes a god to create and power at the same time but I think you could use it at times, just don't let that girl of yours try and take it apart, the shielding is holding back enough energy to atomize a solar system," the traveler said as Cameron returned with a box just a little bigger than the dishwasher.
Alex looked from the box to the traveler, "Umm thanks."
