*Five Years Ago
Five years ago, Planet Konats suffered. The Kashvar, a cult of wizards and witches, released two mass destructions onto our planet. Hirudegarn was a beast with unstoppable strength, intimidating size, and mindless slaughter as its mindset. The Kashvar separated the legend into two identical twins. One was a blue-skinned male. The other was a red-skinned female.
They terrorized Konats for months, until our father, Cumin, found a solution. A spell that'll conceal the twins' souls in a strong-willed warrior's body. He chose my younger brothers, Tapion and Minoshia. They were successful in sealing the Hirudegarn Twins, but the hardest part was making sure they don't resurface. Father's methods were simple, but worrisome. He'd have to seal my brothers into music boxes and separate them across the cosmos.
He chose music boxes to not only protect my brothers and contain the twins, but to prevent them to escaping. My brothers were warriors of heart and justice, but their magical flutes were a part of Father's ritual. It was permanent until the twins were truly vanquished.
A few days before Father settled everything, Minoshia couldn't hold in the male twin's soul. It freed itself, attacked Minoshia, and…
I couldn't say the rest of it. Tapion searched for hours, then found what remained of Minoshia. He was in tears. We were in tears. The male twin found us and went on a wild rampage. Since Tapion had the female twin in his body, I became the sole choice to conceal the male twin. I picked up Minoshia's flute and played the specific tune. I was a quick learner, so playing Minoshia's flute felt easy. The male twin surrendered, wailed to the heavens, and converted itself into dull gray smoke. That very smoke traveled into my heart, warming my body.
It was done; the twin rested in my body.
With no time left, Father ordered me to get into Minoshia's music box. I refused. He argued over why separating me from Tapion was the best solution, but I fired back. So what if our relation becomes troublesome? I loved Tapion. He loved Minoshia. We loved our little brother. Father seemed to understand my emotional breakdown. Tapion persuaded our father to reconsider the decision. A curt nod from Father and I walked to Tapion. The spell Father performed concealed us in a single music box. He sent us far away from Planet Konats, away from any planets.
Our planet was saved, but at what cost? Minoshia didn't deserve death. He deserved justice. Love and happiness from his siblings. I, Chili, promised to protect the universe and my younger brother. Even if it meant sacrificing anything I had, I'll do it.
West City (11am)
"Stop right there!"
The police pointed their guns at an obvious robber. One move and the robber will shoot this red-skinned old woman. She shivered while the robber hooked an arm around her shoulder. The chief shouted at the crook not to fire. "Then don't fire, assholes!"
He shifted the gun's direction to the chief's head. Everyone gasped, averted their gazes, and whimpered. The chief closed his eyes and planted his hands on his sturdy hips. One bang from the gun and—
"Not so fast!"
A heroic tone echoed within the streets. The chief saw his savior, the Great Saiya-Man. Descending next to him was his female sidekick, the Great Saiya-Man #2. Their outfits were awkward and typical, but these heroes were the real deal. The robber swore under his breath and fired four times. Great Saiya-Man caught those bullets, letting them slip off his palm.
"Release the elderly woman or else?" Great Saiya-Man #2 stepped a few paces forward.
"Ugh, screw it!" The robber pushed the old woman. Great Saiya-Man #2 caught her with ease, while her partner bolted upstairs, tackling the pathetic robber.
The policemen cheered for the Great Saiyan-Men's accomplishments. Upon arresting the robber and calming the hostages inside the bank, the chief thanked the heroes. "We were in a pickle. Thanks you so much."
"No problem, police chief of West City! When injustice rises," The Great Saiya-Man said as he started his weird poses. "We'll be there to dim it!"
The Great Saiya-Man #2 rolled her eyes without her partner seeing. Afterward, the two flew away. On the blacktop, the elderly woman in dirt brown stared at the receding heroes. A devilish smirk plastered her somewhat soggy face.
Mt. Paozu (12pm)
"Ugh, I'm exhausted." Gohan slouched on the couch, a bored expression facing the television screen. His little brother, Goten, mimicked his movements, bored out of his skull.
Around the table, Goku ate his fiftieth bowl of fried rice for lunch. Chi-Chi and Videl occupied the kitchen sink, washing the bowls and plates Goku already used. Videl sighed, a sense of relaxation massaged her nerves. She, too, was tired from an hour of communal justice.
"Three hostage cases in a row? West City has a higher crime rate than Satan City. I don't get it. Why are criminals targeting that city?"
"It can't be a coincidence, Videl," Chi-Chi said, eyes glued to the soapy dishwater. Her hands wore rubber gloves, but it didn't stop her from washing each plate in seconds. "Crooks will invade any city that has a bank. Greed is their motivation. I work hard to provide Goten with accurate education, yet he's obsessed with martial arts. Just like his father."
Goku choked. He pounded his chest, the lump of fried rice slid down his throat. "Chi-Chi!"
"What, it's true."
Videl chuckled from the banter between husband and wife. She wished her relationship with Gohan was the same.
Her watch beeped. Its repetitive chirps almost made Videl drop a plate. She caught the plate, placed it on the counter, and answered. "Hello?"
"A red-skinned woman is causing a commotion in West City, Videl. Better come down here!"
She hung up and stared at Gohan, who bore the same serious glance. "Hear that?"
"Yeah, we're on it."
They dashed out the door; it swung from their aftermath. Goten looked at the swinging door. He missed playing with his brother, but since he began his Great Saiya-Man persona and focused on his high school grades, most days felt boring. Goku and Chi-Chi ended their bantering once they realized Gohan's and Videl's disappearance.
'What if I have another sibling? Then, me, Trunks, and my brother would have some real fun.'
West City Park (12:45pm)
The red-skinned woman wearing a dark brown robe danced around the water fountain, gibbering nonsense. Great Saiya-Man and his partner landed in the park, witnessing the madness with their own eyes. "What the hell?"
"Was this the disturbance they mentioned?"
The woman danced around the fountain, her long snow white hair flowed along the wind. Gohan approached her, both hands extending forward. "Excuse me, ma'am. You're bothering everyone. Please, stop whatever you're doing."
She momentarily stopped, her charcoal black eyes landed on Gohan's sunglasses. "..."
"Do you speak English?"
"Yes, sir."
That surprised Gohan and Videl. They leaned away from the woman's short sentence. "Wow, you understand our language. Ahem, why are you dancing?"
"I'm dancing because I need your help."
Tired of the woman's nonsensical dialogue, Videl pushed Gohan away and asked her to stop bothering bystanders. "A disturbance won't get us to help you, ma'am."
"But I need help to free a legendary warrior."
The words, 'Legendary' and 'Warrior' piqued Gohan's interest. He straightened himself and leaned close to the woman. "Legendary warrior!?"
Bystanders raised eyebrows from his excited reaction. Uncomfortable as hell, Gohan guided the woman out the park. They sat on benches. The sunlight warmed their skins. "My name is Bim and I'm a great witch of my clan. A few days ago, I'd found this music box." She held out a rusty music box. Its handle was tiny, but twistable. Or so Gohan and Videl thought.
Bim showed them her issue. The handle doesn't turn, even if she tried harder. Gohan, skeptical in Bim's demonstration, gave it a go. His hand pressed, fingers tightened around the handle, but no bulge. The bits of rust rained on the sidewalk.
"Man, you can't twist the handle. Is this music box magical?"
"You're right, young man. A powerful mage enacted a ritual to entrap the legendary warrior in this box."
"May I ask who this warrior you're referring to?" Videl, eyes drooped, crossed her arms.
"His name is Tapion."
"Tapion? What an awesome name." Gohan rubbed his chin.
The handle was broken and no amount of strength can open the box's lid, Gohan thought. His mind pondered until something jogged it.
"How about we wish for Tapion's freedom?"
"Gohan, you're not saying…"
Gohan nodded with a cheery smile. "Yep, I'll call Dad."
Three Hours Later
Capsule Corporation (3:45pm)
Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, Vegeta, and Videl used the dragon radar to collect the Dragon Balls. All seven glorious balls glowed once connected. Goku summoned Shenron and lets Bim make her wish. She cleared her raspy throat and stated the wish. "Great Dragon! I want you to use your mighty powers to free Tapion from this box!"
She presented the box. The great dragon granted the wish, its golden yellow aura encased the music-box. Bim, shocked by the aura's coating, dropped the box. It rattled on the thick grass, its lid bouncing in tiny skips. A giant rectangular beam shot to the skies. A musical instrumental blared. It soothed the group's nerves. The sound was pleasant to listen. Bim smirked, pacing backwards from the group. A dark purple aura wrapped her body.
Within the beam, two figures playing ocarinas levitated upward. One was a male, styling a orange mohawk. His brown leather armor, shoulder pads, and sword holster amazed Trunks and Goten. Behind the young man was a woman. Her hairstyle had a buzz-cut side, long strands of hot pink hair flowed over her left shoulder. Instead of wearing leather armor, the woman wore a white toga and a navy blue wool scarf.
Both descended to the ground, still playing the flutes. Once they stopped, the female lost balance. Her knees dug into the grass plains, forearms wrapped around her tensed waist.
"What happened? Where are we? Uh…" The woman noticed Gohan, Videl and their friends. She raised her eyebrows, crinkled skin creased the bridge of her nose. "Who are you?"
"Oh, I didn't expect the box to unlock two warriors."
"I-I'm not a warrior. The man behind me is my younger brother, Tapion."
The woman turned around, seeing Tapion march to Bim. Her eyes widened once she saw who Bim was. Sweat caked her forehead, as she lifted her hands, palms facing her brother's and Bim's direction. "W-Why is she doing here?"
"Who? You mean Bim?"
Gohan and Videl watched Tapion argue with Bim, who looked nonchalant. As if the wish had no meaning. Bim snapped her fingers, then disappeared into thin air. Tapion grunted, walked back to his sister, and rubbed the back of his head. "This is a disaster!"
"Come on, Tapion." The woman placed her hands on Tapion's shoulders. "I'm sure she's no threat to us."
"No, she is! We have to stay away from civilization!"
Before the woman spoke, Tapion flew. He dashed to a random direction. She sighed and lowered her head. "How did this happen?"
"Ah, sorry to interrupt, but we summoned you two." Gohan, with a cheery smile, approached the woman. "We used a wish to unlock the music-box Bim had."
"Oh, you shouldn't have done that."
"How come?"
Curious, the group circled the woman. Since Tapion left without listening to common sense, the woman explained their backstory. Minutes later, Gohan was in tears. Videl rubbed her chin, nodding. "And that's why he scatted. I'm sorry for sharing a personal story to strangers. If you can excuse me, I need to find Tapion, try to confess him."
The woman levitated, then bolted to where her younger brother went. Goten and Trunks, using their mischievous minds, thought about going after the warriors. With no one watching them, they left the backyard and picked up on their signatures.
Three Hours Later
Northwestern District Of West City, Abandoned Warehouse (6:45pm)
I'd found Tapion in this dilapidated warehouse. Broken windows with glass shards littering the unkempt grass plains. Barrels with rusting rims stood near an agape doorway. In the building's shadows, Tapion sat on a withered chair. "Tapion?"
Within the darkness, his pair of blue eyes flashed at me. "Not a word, Chili."
"Look, that Kashvar witch disappeared. The good news is those strangers have pure hearts. We should be—"
"No, we mustn't!"
Tapion shot off of the chair and hunched, fists quivering. I'd felt a sense of guilt, frustration, and resentment. Being trapped in a music-box for whatever years was tiresome. I understood Tapion's will to maintain the female twin in his body, but I was concerned about his health. The death of our little brother was hurtful, yet I want to ease the tension, make alliances, and learn this world's culture.
"Not as long as that witch is out there!"
"Ah, Tapion." I stepped through the doorway, the floorboards creaked each step I took. "We'll work this out."
"Stay away!"
His voice boomed, echoed inside the empty building. I truly understood his reaction. As a hero, Tapion had grown a heroic pride in protecting Planet Konats from threats. I, a fellow mage with emotional healing magic, wasn't the adventurous type. Minoshia loved hanging out with Tapion. It made my heart swell with happiness just seeing my younger brothers play, spare with their swords, and converse with our father.
Knowing Tapion needed space, I told him to contact me through telepathy. I exited the building and flew across the evening sky, wondering what will I do. In front of me were two boys. One had short lavender hair, blue eyes, and wore jean overalls and sneakers. The boy next to him wore a blue and orange outfit. His hairstyle matched a powerful warrior a few hours ago.
"Where are you boys going? To see my brother?"
The lavender-haired boy rubbed the back of his head, a playful smirk plastered his face. "Yeah, we wanted to see the legendary warrior ourselves. Right, Goten?"
Goten, the boy's best friend, nodded.
"Well, he's in a bad mood, so meeting him is a terrible move. Let's give him space and he'll calm down."
The boy looked sadden. He lowered his head, groaning about not meeting my brother. Goten faced his surprised glance at me. "Do you wanna… uh, visit my house, lady?"
That shocked me. A pulse of joy seeped into my muscles.
"You want me as a guest?"
Goten nodded. Childhood innocence. He reminded me of Minoshia. Same goes for his best friend, whose name is Trunks. I followed them, far away from Tapion's location. Thoughts of him roamed, but I ignored them. An hour later, Goten introduced me to his parents and older brother.
Goku, Goten's father, was a welcoming man. I can see where Goten got his pureness from, alongside his immense strength. Gohan also carried potent strength and purity. Chi-Chi, although not a warrior, had a strong character I respected. She allowed me to sleep in Goten's bedroom, as it could hold two individuals.
Once I dressed in Chi-Chi gown, a light pink robe with flower patterns forming a heart shape, Goten snuggled under his blankets. "So, you perform magic?"
"Yes. My magic can heal emotional pain, sense emotional pain, and use emotions as offenses. For instance, I can strain a person's anger and use it as a weapon. Afterward, I can insert that anger into the person's body."
His eyes widened, glistened underneath a lampshade. The night sky was full of stars. Father said the stars gave hope. They showed us the way to hope, a better future. I circled the air, presenting a trace of stars. Goten was star-struck in seeing the display. "As you can see, I'm not a warrior. My brothers are. Well, Tapion is. Years ago, we lost our little brother, Minoshia."
"If that's true, then why did you take your little brother's place? To inhabit that giant beast?"
"There was no one to conceal the male twin's soul. Tapion could, but even with experience from our father, the strength of two twin dragons would tear him apart. Gladly, I played the ocarina enough to perform the spell."
"What will happen if the twins are free?"
I sighed and folded my forearms over my chest. "Destruction will fall upon this planet. As carriers of the twin's souls, we must prevent the Kashvar from unleashing them."
Goten nodded, his mouth dropped and eyes widened bigger. His innocence might be more pure than Minoshia's. I smiled at Goten, set up my futon—as what Chi-Chi called it—and fell asleep. For about four hours. I sensed disturbance and fear from Tapion. That couldn't be good. I sat upward, sweat trickling down my jawline. I faced the window, still sensing Tapion's distress.
I opened the window slowly, as to not wake Goten up. He'll understand later. I flew out the window and headed to the abandoned warehouse. Please, let nothing happen to Tapion.
Four Hours Later
Back To The Abandoned Warehouse
Chili arrived at the warehouse, or what was left of it. A gigantic beast with brown scales, dome-shaped cranium, and soulless hallowed eyes roared within the building. Its upper half pierced through the roof, debris rained around the perimeter. Chili swerved to dodge the falling debris. She couldn't see Tapion anywhere. She saw a small woman standing on a pillar. The brown robe looked familiar to her.
'No, it's the Kashvar!'
Wasting no time, Chili dove forward, slamming her body on the witch's back. They fell off the pillar and skidded across the dusty floorboards. One floorboard broke from their impact. They fell into a basement, still tussling around, dirtying their clothes. Chili got up, then Bim did, dusting her robe. "How dare you!?"
"I should say the same, witch!"
The beast's foot stomped onto the floorboards, breaking most into pieces. Chili and Bim skipped, hopped, and sprinted away. Once outside, the beast continued to thrash and roar. "I was in the middle of releasing the male twin, when your brother sensed me. Stabbed him in the stomach and his emotions lost all control."
Bim's devious smirk faced Chili, who got into positions. She could use her magic to distract Bim, but the female twin's size was an obstacle. Plus, she needed to find Tapion quick. "Where is he?"
"Probably crawling for help after the twin materialized. When I get to him, I'm after you."
Bim pointed a dagger at Chili. The female twin's roar screeched at a higher pitch. Its eyes glowed a dull pink aura, then shot beams of rose energy. It pointed them downward, carving an arch through the building's walls. Bim and Chili dodged in time, but the heat from those beams torched Chili's gown. She rolled, then stood in a three-legged position, and watched the beast slice down the remaining walls.
Rumbles echoed through the night. At a moment, anyone could hear the commotion, starting a panic. Chili scanned the cloudy damage, effortlessly finding Tapion. Her emotional sensing can't find him. The stomach wound Bim inflicted must have caused too much pain. Physical pain made it hard for Chili to sense Tapion's presence.
Her scanning distracted her from seeing the beast's claws extending to her direction. A gasp escaped her lips. She squealed, ready to feel a horrible blow, but nothing happened. It's hand got cut off. Tapion stood in front of Chili, a blood stain blossoming on his right side. "Chili, stand back!"
"Tapion…"
"Hey!"
Trunks, who lived close to the abandoned warehouse, must have sensed something terrible. He arrived in his PJs, witnessing Tapion fighting the female Hirudegarn monster. "Wow, what is that thing?"
"That's the female twin!"
"Don't interfere, boy!" Bim threw the dagger at Trunks, but his quick reflexes dodged it. It landed somewhere on the ground. "Ugh, enough of this! I'll return later!"
Bim disappeared in a swirl of black and purple aura. It vanished into the air. Chili asked Trunks to fight the beast. That'll distract it, while Tapion prepared the spell. Trunks nodded, turned Super Saiyan—which amazed Chili—and dashed to the monster. His punches caused dents on its thick skin, but it barely felt a ping of pain. Chili rushed to her brother, hand over his stomach wound. "Lay down, Tapion. I'll heal the wound."
Thank god, the wound wasn't deep. Chili's palm glowed an angelic white aura. Its comfortable warmth soothed Tapion's flaming nerves. The hole shrunk, the scab disappearing. No blood remained after Chili ended her healing spell. Tapion thanked his sister, stood up, and pulled out his flute. His verse stopped the female beast's rampage. Trunks saw it, ending an attack he'd been charging.
The beast wailed until its entire body turned into smoke. That very smoke seeped into Tapion's body. Every wisp traveled inside Tapion's chest the longer he played. After the smoke depleted, Tapion gasped and kneeled on the dirt. "That was close."
"Tapion?"
Her brother glanced. "I'm sorry, Chili. My eagerness to protect this planet from the twins overwhelmed me."
"Don't apologize, little brother." Chili caressed Tapion's shoulders. "It's alright."
Trunks descended to them, deactivating his Super Saiyan form. His lavender hair surfaced, flowing from the breeze brushing against his skin. "Are you two alright?"
"We're fine, Trunks. Thank you for helping us."
Trunks smirked, cheeks flushed in red. "You're welcome."
"Now that your home is destroyed, mind coming to Goten's home?"
Tapion considered taking Chili's offer, but then looked at Trunks. The bravery of Trunks interested him. For hours, Trunks had been delivering food to Tapion, whenever he felt hungry. He felt regrettable in not taking those meals his mother made. Tapion sighed, struggled to stand, and cleared his throat. "No, I'll go with Trunks."
Chili widened her eyes. She stood up fast, fingertips drenched in Tapion's blood. "Are you sure?"
"I'm fine with the decision, Chili. Besides, you have a place to stay. You still picked up on my emotions, so we'll be close."
He wasn't wrong; with Chili's emotional magic, she can contact Tapion. She smiled, patted Tapion's shoulder, and wished him luck. Before Goten grew worried of her disappearance, Chili hurried to Mt. Paozu.
Five Days Later
Capsule Corporation (5pm)
"It's nice to see you interact with Trunks. He sees you as a big brother."
Tapion helped Bulma in the kitchen, washing dishes from dinner. He enjoyed his stay at Capsule Corporation. Trunks and his playful nature reminded him of his younger brother. The interest to fight, heroic bravery, and willingness to help others. He only saw Minoshia's smiling face, not Trunks'.
"It's a pleasure to aid around the house, Miss Briefs."
"Please, enough of the flattery." Bulma flicked a wrist at Tapion. "I don't want my husband seeing that."
Tapion had seen Vegeta roaming around the building. He was finishing training or beginning a session. He thought about testing Vegeta's strength, but Trunks' character interested him more.
"My apologies."
"What your sister said sounds traumatic. I feel bad about how you lost your brother, Tapion."
Her tone was empathetic, as if she'd experienced losing a close family member. Tapion couldn't blame her; losing his brother was traumatic.
"No amount of sadness will bring Minoshia back."
"I know. I shouldn't be sharing this yet, but I invented a room for you."
The room Bulma referred to was a separate room in her garage. She took inspiration from Chili's backstory and the spell Tapion played to sooth the beasts' souls. It needed tweaks, but Bulma felt close to completing it. "It'll be ready in a few days."
"That sounds terrific, Miss Briefs."
A smile curled on his face. His time on Earth had soften his worries. Bim hadn't attacked them since the warehouse incident. It was nice to feel at peace. After washing dishes, Tapion trudged down every corridor until he reached the garage. A big music-box-shaped storage unit gazed Tapion's attention. It looked like the music box his father chose. 'For a scientist, Bulma knows how to replicate.'
He examined the storage box, then a pang burned his veins. Clenching his stomach, Tapion groaned and stepped away from the box. His back pressed against the garage's gate, metal bending from hammering pulses in the spine. "No, it's coming out!"
Mt. Paozu
Chili watched Gohan and Goten sparring, while Goku occupied his garden fields. Her time on Earth had calmed her worries. She hoped her brother felt the same peace, too. The times she spent with Goten had reminded her of Minoshia. He always questioned Chili about her magic and how he can perform them. It bought a smile on her face.
Just as she was about to leave, her heart throbbed. Not emotionally, but a painful way. She hunched forward, sweat dripping off her head, soaking a small spot on the ground. Goten saw Chili's reaction, thus stopping his match with Gohan. "What's wrong, Chili!?"
"Get back!"
Chili, realizing the outcome, flew far away. Despite being far away, Chili's body glowed sapphire blue. The male twin was crawling out of her body. 'Damn, I can't let Goten see this! Must get to Tapion!'
West City
Everything was busy and casual, then a giant foot stomped on a few hover cars. The female Hirudegarn monster plowed through skyscrapers and bridges, all while screeching her lungs out. Bim, who stood on the tallest skyscraper, away from the rampage, chuckled enthusiastically. "That mage might have healed Tapion's wounds, but she didn't notice the spell I injected after stabbing him. I guess his blood tainted her, too. The male twin's presence is approaching."
Bim watched Chili fly to Capsule Corporation, hoping to find Tapion. She found him lying near a collapsed garage. Bulma, Vegeta, and Trunks came to see the aftermath. The music-box storage unit hadn't been damage, which satisfied Bulma, but her worries were on Tapion.
"Oh, good. He's still breathing."
Chili's screams scared Bulma. Her body flashed blue. Thirty seconds later, Chili nearly collapsed, but Trunks held her steady. Smoke floated to the female Hirudegarn twin, converting itself into the male twin. With both beasts, they destroyed giant portions of West City. Goku, Gohan, and Goten rushed to Capsule Co., also sensing the disturbance. "Is that the monsters from Chili's story!?"
"Yeah, and they're destroying the city. We have to stop them!"
Gohan goes to action by transforming into a Super Saiyan. Following his son's example, Goku transformed, too. They dashed to the city, a golden trail of energy tracing behind them. Goten, after becoming a Super Saiyan, persuaded Trunks to join him. He transformed and flew after Goku and Gohan. Bulma kept Tapion company, while Chili staggered to them. "W-We need to use our flutes, Tapion."
"Y-Yes, but do you have your flute?"
Chili realized she left it at the house. She swore under her breath and told Tapion she'll be back. With her low energy, it'll take forty minutes for Chili to reach Mt. Paozu. Not enough time to return, but she'll quicken her pace. As Chili left, Tapion slowly regained his strength. He thanked Bulma and watched Vegeta transform and fly after the heroes.
"Are you going to be okay, Tapion?"
"I'll be fine, Miss Briefs. Just stay safe."
Tapion levitated, then boosted towards the city. The smell of smoke filled his nostrils, burning each hair strand. He pushed through the smoke clouds and saw the beasts fighting the Z-Fighters. Goku and Gohan performed the Kamehameha technique, but the beams reflected off the male twin's skin. Goten launched the same technique, but on the female twin's skull. It did nothing but leave a black mark.
The male twin swiped its arm onto the three Super Saiyans. Once Vegeta arrived, he pulled his Galick Gun on the female twin's back. His attack was better at inflicting damage, as the female squealed. Her dropped jaw faced the saiyan prince, a bright ball of green energy charging in her throat. "Crap!"
Vegeta dodged in time, missing a mouth beam. It pierced through clouds, exiting the planet's stratosphere. The male twin, upon witnessing Vegeta's attack on its sibling, roared.
It's black tail hit Vegeta's side, throwing him to an office. He crashed through the window, glass shards flew inside the department. The male twin unhinged its jaw and prepared a bright green ki blast. Vegeta, while standing up, noticed it. It fired and Vegeta—realizing the civilians—morphed a transparent barrier. It protected the citizens, but Vegeta lost most of his strength. He fell unconscious, his blonde hair shifting to his jet black color.
While the other Z-Fighters fought the Hirudegarn twins, Tapion found a faraway roof to stand. His nerves flamed, skull pulsated from the female's release, but he ignored the sensation. He played the ocarina; the song blaring across the vastly destroyed city. The male and female twins stopped attacking. Goku was in a crater in the blacktop streets. Gohan and Goten winced while kneeling.
The song soothed the twins for a few seconds until Bim threw a dagger at Tapion. It doesn't stab through Tapion's hand, but left a bloody scar. He dropped the flute. It bounced on the crumbling roof. "Dammit!"
"No way am I going to let you stop my master plan."
"Global domination won't revive the Kashvar!"
Bim scoffed, then kicked Tapion in the shin. He tumbled to his side, still gripping his bruised hand. Miles away, Chili returned with her flute in hand. She sensed immense pain from her brother. Bim was attacking him, preventing the twins' concealment. She rushed faster, her sights catching the city up in smoke.
When she arrived, Bim grabbed her dagger and positioned over Tapion's crawling body. "No!"
Chili fired a ki blast at Bim, launching her off the roof. She landed, skidded, and tended to Tapion's hand injury. "Are you—"
"I'm fine, just get my flute!"
Chili found the flute, which hadn't fallen deep into the wasted building. She tossed it to Tapion, and the two began playing. The song again soothed the monsters' rampage. Unfortunately, Bim used a ritual under their noses. It exploded the bottom part of the building.
It collapsed, dull gray puffs of smoke eclipsed Bim and her cackling. Chili and Tapion stopped playing, then hopped off, levitating over the sinking building. The distraction had enough time for the twins to merge. Both their bodies glowed in their respected genders. The female's was pink, while the male's was blue. A clash later and a bright white light swept throughout the city.
The monsters were no more. In its place was a giant, majestic beast with golden scales, hollower eyes, and dragonfly wings sprouting its back. It was a taller version of the monsters they faced. Tapion and Chili looked with agape mouths and widened eyes. "No, it's their true form."
One ear-piercing screech broke the vacant air. The fighters cupped their ears for a moment before the monster attacked more buildings. Its tail plowed through skyscrapers, crushed remaining hover cars, and sliced bridges in half. "There's not a chance for us to seal it!"
"Perhaps, there is."
Chili stared into Tapion's blue eyes. There was a way to seal Hirudegarn. One must be the sole vessel. "I'm a mage and not capable of withholding Hirudegarn. You're the best vessel, Tapion."
A brief silence between the siblings. Goten and Trunks met up, but before speaking, they saw Tapion and his sister. The breeze brushed Chili's silky smooth pink hair. It also brushed Tapion's orange mohawk. "You're right, Chili, but promise me this. Once I perform the ritual and seal Hirudegarn in me, sever my head. Make sure we're dead."
The sentence paused Chili. Trunks and Goten heard everything, their face turning blue. "No, you can't!" They ran to them, tears about to develop. "You can't die!"
"But it's the only option we have. Unless… No, it won't work."
Tapion shook his head, perishing the thought. Chili tilted and extended a hand to Tapion's shoulder. "What were you thinking about?"
"Father told us another method of defeating Hirudegarn. If a fused warrior defeated it while its solid, it'll vanish."
"I'd never heard of that before. Did he specifically told you that?"
Tapion nodded. A curt hum vibrated Chili's throat, as she rubbed her chin and lowered her gaze. "That could work, but we'd never learned fusion."
"Hahaha! Leave it to us!"
Goten and Trunks smirked, hands on their sides. Fusion had been a trump card for them, so they easily performed the dance. Within the dimming light came Gotenks, their fused form. Chili and Tapion backed up from shock. "Okay, that solves the fused warrior part. But Hirudegarn is strong, too strong for you. There has to be another."
Goku and Vegeta stumbled to Tapion, Chili, and Gotenks. Their bruises weren't as bad as Gohan's or the boys, but they survived the monster's attacks. "Fusion? I think we can—"
"N-No way, Kakarot!"
"Aw, come on, Vegeta. We got no choice!"
Vegeta thought for a moment. Goku was right, for once. With a groan, Vegeta agreed to perform the dance. Even though it looked embarrassing to the saiyan prince, fusion was their last method against Hirudegarn. Upon performing the dance perfectly, Goku and Vegeta merged into Gogeta. He and Gotenks flew to Hirudegarn, launching their strongest attacks. Gotenks' Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack landed severe hits to the creature's back.
Gogeta's bare fists created dents, deeper than previous blows, into its durable skin. It screeched from the seething pain from the fused warriors' techniques. Tapion and Chili searched for Gohan, finding him underneath rubble, and healing his injuries.
"Gotenks! Step to the side!"
Gotenks followed his fused father's instructions. He floated away from Hirudegarn, as Gogeta charged his Star Burster. Hirudegarn, mindless and enraged, charged at Gogeta. Its claws nearly touched the warrior's face, but stopped mid-way. Glitters of purification poured from its sockets. Its mouth also spewed glittery energy.
Its body jerked from the overpowered attack Gogeta unleashed. Bim looked on in defeat.
She shouted for her people's 'God' to attack, but its stray tail slammed upon her, crushing her to death. A goopy strand of dark red blood was all that remained of Bim. Hirudegarn continued jerking until…
BOOM!
A wave of glitter swept through the dilapidated city. Smoke vanished from the wave's soft breeze. Gogeta and Gotenks stood above the city, smiling with pride.
Sixty-Five Minutes Later
"Father?"
I got a telepathic message from Cumin, our father. Since he sealed us in a music-box, Father moved our species to a remote planet, restarting a new life. He wished for us to return, as he missed us. More than he missed Minoshia. Oh… Right. I'd told Father about our allies defeating Hirudegarn. He was shocked, but sounded relieved in hearing the good news.
"With that monster gone and the Kashvar hunted, we can live a casual life. Just you, me, and Tapion."
"Sure, Father, but…" I faced Tapion, talking to Goten and Trunks. Our time living on Earth had calmed me. It calmed Tapion. Returning home and reuniting with our father sounded pleasing. But I preferred we stay on Earth. With our allies, who saved the universe from a veritable beast of destruction. "On second thought, Father, we'll stay on Earth."
"Why, Chili?"
"Because, we love Earth. Our allies helped us. Without them, Hirudegarn would've destroyed their home, then spread its mayhem on other planets. It's best we begin a life on Earth. I promise I'll contact you, Father."
"If that's what you chose, I won't argue. Tell Tapion I love him, Chili."
Our communication ended. I repeated what Father said to Tapion. Tears streaked his cheeks, a rare occurrence of my brother to surrender his emotions. He hugged me, choking in his emotions. "I'm so happy our father's alive."
"Good for us, but are you okay in us living on Earth?"
"Of course. My relationship with Trunks has erased my guilt towards Minoshia's death. I think the same occurred to you, Chili."
My relationship with Goten had erased Minoshia's death from my mind. Though the incident still burrowed our brains, it wasn't as emotionally impactful as we remembered. We'd found friends who reminded us of our little brother. Their innocence might disappear when they hit that age, but we'll make those moments worthwhile.
The End
