The Citadel was still undergoing reconstruction after the Geth's Dreadnought attack. With so much of the station damaged, Athria had been forced to find another office in a completely different ward than she was initially in, and trying to figure out recruiting prospects within the chaos was challenging.
She stood overlooking the table in the center of the softly lit conference room. Her back to a large glass window overlooking Kithoi ward. She was holding a PDA in her hand, looking over the text as she scrolled through. "So, this is what we are dealing with?" She grunted, dismissing the report.
"What's wrong?" The human voice from the vid caller responded. "The guy's got a track record; I'm surprised he hasn't ended up in purgatory."
The human male voice chuckled, "Yeah, the old man has his mind set on the guy. Keeps going on about a backup plan."
"You'd think having former military and Spectre's would be enough of a backup plan." Athira paused for a moment, reading deeper into the dossier. "Tell me you've read the good parts." the voice joked.
"The parts where he was Cerberus? Or the fact that he blew up the New Dawn building? Or even better, was arrested on Earth for treason?" Athira dropped the PDA on the table in frustration as the voice from the vid caller was awkwardly still laughing. She walked away from the table and towards the large window, looking across the ward.
"This isn't funny anymore, Derek. This guy is a menace. The fact that he's on the Alliance's watch list alone is a problem."
Derek sighed and was quiet for a few seconds, with the only sound from the vid caller was his squeaky chair. "Supposedly, all his problems have been worked out with the alliance, and he's not working for Cerberus. But we can't argue with the boss's thinking here. The guy's a wrecking ball; they might need him if push comes to shove."
Athira began to rub her forehead with her hand, hoping to relieve the headache she felt brewing. "And you want to send a non-human to talk with him? A former Cerberus agent, to talk with an Alien?" She turned back around to the table but leaned back against the window.
"For one Athira, if you read the entire report, he wasn't technically in Cerberus, and the only Aliens he would probably hate are Batarians." Derek paused and took in a deep breath. "But, if you happen to fight him, just keep your distance and just let your biotics do the rest."
Athira pushed herself off the window, walked towards a chair tucked under the table, and gripped the back of it. "I swear, Derek, if anything goes wrong, I'll kick your ass! I'm not trying to fight a basket case!"
"You're not being asked to fight anyone; you're persuading, and you're the best at this, and if anyone can persuade him, it's you."
