Chapter 3 Twins?

"It's not an insane question Mom, Do I have a twin sister or not?" Sheldon yelled into the phone "alright don't answer, anyways I lov-" Sheldon said before getting hung up on. He turned back to Missy still in shock

"What'd she say?" Missy asked

"She said they don't know much about my actual family and that they got me a while after I was actually born" Sheldon explained "I've got some more change do you wanna call your parents"

"NO!" Missy blurted out scaring Sheldon "ugh my folks aren't that involved they don't even know my dad's name, they wouldn't know" Missy excused, it wasn't a lie but she just left out the running away part

"Oh ok" Sheldon said "is their hotel close by"

"They're not in the city, they sent me here for a vacation and I was supposed to have a hotel room waiting for me but they said I wasn't on the list" That….was a thousand percent a lie not gonna lie

"Oh bummer" Sheldon expressed "does it sound cool when I say bummer"

"No"

"Bummer" he said "so I…I actually have a twin sister" he said obviously still in shock

"Well we don't know for certain right, it could all be one big coincidence" she said in denial looking at the now taped photo again "I mean we don't look too much alike"

"Fraternal twins develop from two separate egg cells, they wouldn't look anymore alike than any other siblings" Sheldon explained "so where are you staying"

"Ok so you go down main street…and the keep going until you reach the 4 star playground I've been staying" Missy sarcastically said

"Oh" Sheldon thought for a second and considered his options "you can stay at my dorm…that is what you do when you meet long lost relatives isn't it"

"It is" Missy said glad at the idea of not sleeping outside again

Sheldon showed her to his dorm "this place is nice" she said not even noticing how small the place actually was "can I use your bathroom"

"Sure" Sheldon said looking around

"What?"

"Well it's just I never had a room to myself before, and now I still don't"

"Yeah me either" Missy said before going into the bathroom

Sheldon noticed she tossed her backpack on his desk chair, he pondered it for a moment. What if she wasn't his sister, what if there was incriminating evidence he could find in there. Was it an invasion of privacy or a requirement for his own safety. He decided that it was worth it and looked through her bag; just clothes, magazines, some candy, and a map of the city. Sheldon resealed her bag and felt like a jerk. Right before he sealed the bag he saw his mom's picture that Missy tapped to her dad's.

Meanwhile Missy was scraping away the dirt on her face and also her skin. She had long given up on trying to know why her parents gave her away but now she apparently had a brother, a twin brother, that was also given away and no one felt the need to tell her. She was so confused on if this was a good thing or a bad thing, and even more so on what to do next. Sheldon was really weird but he didn't seem too bad, and hey wait until she plays this card if Michael and Debby find her. Yeah at first glance it would be nice to have a brother out of blood but what happens in a few days, do they just split ways again only this time with the knowledge that they have an estranged sibling.

She left the bathroom so they could finally talk about this. Sheldon wouldn't be mad at her right? It clearly wasn't her fault, but maybe he might, maybe she should go, no then she's the bad guy, maybe-

She saw him looking at the full photo on his desk and he noticed her come out "so…that's what dad looks like?"

Missy nodded and looked at it with him "I don't know why but I always pictured my mom as having red hair" Missy admitted "guess I was wrong". There was a moment of silence between them as they took it in. "Crazy story, when I was nine I actually spent a full two hours in the school library trying to figure out every home with those numbers" she said pointing to the house address slightly visible in the photo "didn't find it but I did get out of three classes"

"You should always go to class"

"Wow didn't know I actually met my long lost father" Missy sarcastically quipped "I was kinda dumb back then, I didn't even find the street name"

"Atherton" Sheldon said out of nowhere"

"What?"

"They live on Atherton St" Sheldon looked around and found his magnifying glass and revealed the street name in the background "I noticed that when I was 2 "

"...St Galveston" Sheldon typed into the computer display at the campus's RadioShack, Missy standing by "and here we are 22 hours drive" he said as a map appeared on screen

Missy jumped at it and stared in awe "can you print it out?" Sheldon typed a few keys and the printer started printing a copy of the map. Missy snatched it off the printer "oh man…..Come On" Missy said gesturing for him to follow her out of the store

"Woah where are we going"

"Galveston Texas!"

"Wha…Why?" Sheldon asked completely dumbfounded

"To go spit in their eye, make them feel bad about all this"

"What, we- how would we get there?"

"I kinda have a car we can take"

"You're too young to drive"

"Sheldon, don't you at bare minimum want to meet them" Missy pleaded. Of course he wanted to meet them, you'd need an extremely good reason to never once even think about meeting your blood parents. "And hey it might be fun, you know long lost twins on a life changing road trip, would make a decent movie"

If this was his sister Sheldon couldn't just let her leave and never see her again, but rules are the pillar of society and he couldn't risk his life in a car with an unlicensed driver. "I'm really sorry Missy, I just can't"

Missy's adventurous smile diminished "ok, ok no problem really" she stuttered "I really should be heading back to Modesto anyways, you know I don't think there's many more clubs here that won't let me in"

They both walked back to Missy's car both disappointed in a way, he was making the right decision he had always prided himself on following rules and keeping out of trouble. She wrote something against the hood "here, it's my foster parents address, come visit whenever your free" Missy said handing him the slip

Sheldon did the same thing with his foster parents address and Missy pocketed it "ugh here maybe you should keep this" Sheldon said offering their parents taped together picture

"Are you sure, I mean I could use the evidence but…"

"It's fine" Sheldon assured as Missy took it

Missy got into the driver's seat, as Sheldon waved goodbye….already.

Missy sighed. She could probably do the galveston trip herself, she had the map, but without Sheldon it just seemed more like she was just being childish. So what's left is to go back to Modesto, she'd probably get grounded for the rest of the summer.

Missy put the car in reverse and-

The passenger door opened and Sheldon got in the car "so 22 hours to Galveston"

Missy smiled and backed the car out of the spot, long lost twins were headed on a life changing road trip to Galveston.
