Being Let Go Again
You can probably gather what this chapter will be abr ladies and gentlemen! Blu will be facing a big challenge to keep his cool in the office. Jewel and RDJ are both having lunch as they talk about the events of the night before. And things will only get more tense! So without further ado, let's get right back to the action!
The Very Next Day…
Blu slept very soundly after the night he shared with his wife Jewel. They decided that they would make their marriage work and last night they had passionate sexual relations.
The blue man arrived at his office with the biggest smile on his beak, with bright purple cheeks as he blushed about how he was so excited about his marriage getting back on track.
His CEO Adam wanted to meet him in the conference room before he announced to his team that he would be leaving the office to start the expansion in the countryside.
The number one person he was afraid to tell the most was Roberto, because he's his most trusted best friend and his right hand man at work.
So telling him was going to be a challenge, but he knew that he would have to tell him this big news eventually.
Blu arrived at the elevator to take it up to the top floor, and as he walked right into the elevator, he was about to press the number 75 to get to the top floor. Which is one of the tallest office buildings in all of Brazil, he ended up hearing someone yell to him.
"HOLD THE ELEVATOR!"
"Shit! Close! Close! Close!" Blu didn't even want to wait for the person who was going to try and get into the elevator with him. And just before the doors fully closed, someone stuck their arm in the elevator and managed to get inside before it moved upwards.
"Ahhhh, thank you for waiting for me! You are just too sweet!" He person indeed was in fact Katie. Who immediately pressed the number 59. Which was the floor number of the sales department. Then she checked what number he pushed, and she instantly acted like everything was normal between them. "Oooh, seeing the CEO? That's pretty cool."
"Mmmhmmm." He didn't want to pay any attention to her, even pulling out his cell phone to check his emails. But then just as he thought he was going to play the ignore and blank out game, Katie pressed the emergency stop button on the elevator. And this caused Blu to get a little bit annoyed by her actions. "What are you doing now Katie?" He bluntly asked her, without even giving her any sign of a friendly expression.
"Look Blu, I wanna apologise to you." The way Katie randomly said this, confused the hell out of him. Especially since she has been pretty aggressive when she is showing lust or passion. Or even anger for when he denies her feelings and affection. This change of behaviour really surprised him.
"Okay?" He wasn't sure how to react to this.
"I understand that I have put a lot of pressure on you in the past couple of days. And with the affair we had, it didn't exactly make things any easier." She explained in a fair calm voice. Completely the opposite of what she normally talks like. "And I want to offer you my most sincerest apology." She showed a smile on her beak when saying this. "Can we start over?"
At first, Blu was even reluctant to try and speak to her again after he had literally threatened to kill her if she told Jewel about their affair. But then, now she is acting so calm and relaxed about the whole thing? What on earth was going on in her mind?
Despite any of this, he also had a huge part to play in the affair. So he had decided that he would agree to accept an apology from her.
"Well, I guess you aren't exactly fully to blame here. I mean, it does take two to tango as they say." Blu remarked with a straight face. "I accept your apology."
"Good! Now, ummm…I actually do have something I wanted to asked you?" The scarlet macaw girl with the bright blue eyes replied with that same wide smile that she gave him a couple of days ago.
Which to be fair at this point…did start to creep him out.
"What is it?" Blu pondered in confusion.
"Tonight I have bought two tickets to go and see Roberto Carlos, as kind of like a peace offering you know?" She smiled even wider at him, shuffling her feet a little.
"I don't think that's such a good idea Katie." Blu straight away leaned over her shoulder and pressed the emergency stop button again to restart the elevator.
"No strings attached Blu. What's wrong with two work colleagues and two friends going to watch a show together?"
"You know why. I'm sorry Katie, I appreciate the offer. But I don't think that is such a good idea." Blu stood strong and nodded at her. Just as the elevator finally arrived on the 59th floor. "Goodbye miss Becker."
"Oh, okay. Umm, goodbye Blu." Katie couldn't hide the fact that she was disappointed. But, she did keep a straight face after the conversation. So other colleagues at work wouldn't think that she was an emotional wreck.
Once the scarlet macaw girl stepped out of the elevator, Blu couldn't close the doors fast enough. As the elevator doors closed shut, Blu was really keen for the elevator to move up to floor 75.
"Thank Christ The Redeemer that's over!" Blu sighed in relief, once the door began moving again at a pretty fast pace. As it was the VIP elevator that only managers or supervisors use.
Now all he could do was remain in the elevator for several more moments.
Let's Briefly Check In On Jewel…
Today, Jewel had a pretty easy day planned for her. She would get up and do her morning routine. She was going to pick up some food at the local market. Then she agreed to meet one of her close friends RDJ for lunch. Before meeting Blu back at the office after he finished work for the day.
She had already completed the first two tasks of the day. Now she was on her way to meet RDJ for lunch. As he had some things he needed to talk to her about regarding the bar being burnt down.
So they had already met at 12:30pm for lunch. And RDJ has offered to pay considering that he was given a big insurance claim from the fire
Opting for the two of them to have Polish cuisine, which was a pretty large Polish sausage with roast potatoes. A pretty simple yet tasty dish.
"Well, I definitely approve of the size of this sausage." Jewel cheekily remarked as she poked the pork sausage with her fork. Causing her friend to chuckle in amusement.
"If I had a dollar for every time my wife told me that." RDJ grinned and ate a bit of his potato. "Is this your first ever Polish meal?"
"I think so? I don't really eat many other cuisines , other than the ones that I already know." She answered him honestly, drinking sone of her wine. "Although, I will say that this smoky sausages are boiling hot when you chew on them."
"I suppose that's how they are meant to be, to keep the food nice and hot."
"Probably. I would have preferred to have it cool down though, after half an hour of purchasing it." She rolled her eyes whilst smiling.
"Hmm, well don't knock it til you try it." The blue and gold macaw man smiled and drank sone of his glass of red wine. "Mmmm, so. Why is it that Blu was so happy today? He saw me in the office and gave me a couple of hours pay. Then told me that I can have the rest of the day off?"
"Hmmmm, hehe…Ummm…" Jewel was blushing uncontrollably behind her hand. "You see, we kinda had, you know?"
"Why are your cheeks turning purple? Ooooh…I got it." He smirked and rolled his eyes. "So, the two of you are finally working things out?"
"Yes. I admit that things have happened. Mistakes were definitely made. But, I can't live without him RDJ. Blu is my one and only." Jewel remarked with a smile, as she felt like her heart was melting. "Honestly, I'm so lucky to have him as my husband."
"It's about time that the two of you had sorted things out! As soon as my beautiful wife is back from her trip. We shall have to do a game night." RDJ was halfway through his meal already. "Anyway, there was something else that I wanted to talk to you about."
"What is it?"
"You know that my bar burned down right?"
"Yes, what happened by the way?" Jewel softly asked, eating half of the sausage.
"Roberto and I went to the police station yesterday to go through the evidence that they had found at the crime scene. And the evidence they found was that the fuse box had been broken into and tempered with." He replied with a serious expression. "Jewel, someone is out to get me! I don't know who this is. But I know it's got something to do with that damn asshole Angelo! He's always been jealous of how everyone comes to my bar instead of his shitty Italian joint!"
"You do realise that he was with his brother at his cousin's wedding all weekend? So it couldn't have been him."
"Damn! Well, at least that does narrow the suspects down." RDJ sighed and finished off his meal. "Besides, the insurance pay out came through really quickly. But I had to stay at my sister's place last night. But now she's got friends staying the night."
"I did try to tell you that you should have bought your own place instead of living above the bar." Jewel giggled and shook her head. "Well, we can't have you on the street tonight. You must stay with us."
"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to impose in any way?"
"Don't be silly!" She giggled and patted him on the back. "I'm sure that you would do the same for us if we were ever in that situation."
"Almost definitely. You guys are my very best friends! As long as Blu is cool with all of it." RDJ grinned and took out his wallet.
"Oh, you don't have to do this?" Jewel felt terrible that he was laying for lunch with her.
"Don't be a silly goose! Of course I'm happy to pay." He took his card out and handed it over to the waiter. Who immediately ran it through the system.
"Sir, will we be expecting you again?" The male red bellied macaw smiled at the duo, shaking hands with him.
"Absolutely. The food was delicious and the restaurant is so quaint."
"Why, thank you so much sir!" He bowed with respect. "Are you and your girlfriend coming back soon?"
RDJ and Jewel both blushed uncontrollably, and he chuckled towards him. "Sir, she's one of my very best friends. And she's a good friend of my wife."
"Oh! My mistake sir. Do have a splendid day now!" The red bellied macaw man opened up the door for them. And they both exited the restaurant and waved goodbye to him.
Once he closed the door when the two of them were outside together, Jewel put a hand on her hip and narrowed her eyes at him.
"You seemed pretty insulted when he called us a couple? Why? Am I not pretty enough for you?" Jewel playfully teased him by batting her eyelashes. She may have been flirting with him, but it was all innocent and not serious.
"We are not going to have this conversation again." RDJ rolled his eyes, and smiled at her. "You are very pretty. But my wife is the most beautiful girl in the world in my eyes."
"I know hehe. I was only teasing!" Jewel giggled and she checked her watch. "Oooh! I better get home and start getting dinner ready. I'll be meeting Blu at the office after he finishes work."
"That's great! I'll head to my sisters and pack what clothes I can. Then I'll meet you at your place. See you later on Jewel." RDJ gave his good friend a hug and a friendly kiss on the cheek. Before they both went their separate ways.
Let's Head Back To Blu…
"Alright Blu. Everything here seems to be in order! Now, we can tell the others the big news that you are about to get off of your chest." Adam remarked with confidence, as they finalised all of the final paper work for his trusted office manager to run the local branch in the countryside.
Blu was extremely excited for this great new project that he will be leading the whole thing! And he's excited to become the business partner of the CEO.
"See Blu? You becoming my business partner is something that you earned. And I am so proud of you for everything you have done for the company. But, when you see someone who has the potential to be a real leader. You gotta let them fulfil their potential." He smiled at his new business partner. Patting him on the shoulder. "I do hope the others will understand such changes. Also, I think Roberto will be happy to hear that he is getting a promotion to Office Manager."
"I'm sure he will be absolutely over the moon with that news Adam." Blu smiled and nodded towards him. However, there was still one question that loomed in his mind. "Hey ummm, can I ask you something else?"
"Sure!" Adam responded with enthusiasm, pouring himself a glass of scotch. "Scotch?"
"On the rocks please."
"Ahhh, you are a man after my own heart." He chuckled and made himself two scotches on the rocks for both of them to drink. "Did you tell your wife the good news yet?"
"Not yet Adam. I'm telling her tonight after dinner." Blu smiled and took the drink from him. "Thanks."
"To new beginnings!"
"I'll drink to that!" Blu responded kindly and they clinked glasses. Before both of them savoured a small sip to taste the strong liquor. "Mmm, ahhh! So, I wanted to ask you again about, Katie Becker?"
"What about her?" Adam replied calmly, drinking some of his scotch.
"You were going to fire her?" Blu seemed too eager to hear that the scarlet girl had been fired by the CEO. But pretty soon, he wasn't going to like the answer that he gave him.
"I did fire her."
"What? When?" The blue macaw man's eyes widened in surprise by this sudden news.
"Last night? I called her on her cell phone and told her. She screamed at me on the cell phone and told me to go and suck a di…" Roght before he could finish his sentence, his secretary and personal assistant entered his office.
"Adam, sir? The others are waiting for you in conference room A." All of a sudden, a white parakeet with glasses peered through the office door with an iPad in her hands.
"Ahhh, thanks Jessie." He thanked her kindly then finished his scotch. "Okay Blu. Shall we tell everyone the exciting news?"
"Y-Yes sir." The blue macaw man was still hung up on the fact that his new business partner had fired the woman he had a brief affair with was with him in the elevator. Even though she was fired from the company last night.
If she early was fired by the CEO last night like Adam had only just told him this shocking news. Then why was she in the elevator with Blu only moments ago before he was on his way up to the top floor?
Let's Now Check In On Roberto…
As requested by Adam, everyone apart from the main supervisors of the sales department were gathered in the conference room.
Roberto was at the front of the table, as he was the assistant office manager to his best friend Blu. And he was pretty much left in the dark about the whole reason of this meeting. Just like everyone else who was in the office.
"Does anybody know why we are here?" Roberto addressed the rest of the team. Who all briefly glanced at each other for any kind of answer. But when they couldn't get a straight answer, they all glanced back over to Roberto and shrugged their shoulders. "Hmmm, this is a bit weird? Last time we were in a conference meeting, was when we had to sit through a three hour sexual harassment in the workplace seminar."
Just after he said that last sentence, everyone immediately targeted Chris. Who looked up at all of them with an insulted expression.
"No I did not sexually harass anyone recently! I have you know that I am currently dating someone right now." The parakeet man grumbled as he was drinking sone coffee.
"You do realise that the hooker outside the grocery store doesn't count right?" A scarlet macaw man chuckled in amusement.
"Shut up Thomas! Nobody asked you!"
"Anyway…Can anyone really explain why we might be here?" Roberto asked again, but nobody seemed to be able to give him a direct answer.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!"
Suddenly, Blu and Adam had entered the conference room.
Their presence alone caused all of the staff members to stand up in respect for them. Until Adam requested with his hand that they were all to be seated.
Rendering all of them plus both supervisors to sit down and discuss the plans for the week.
"So, first off. I want to congratulate all of you for once more having the highest record of sales in South America. And to say thank you for all you have done, I will be granting all of you a 5% pay rise." Adam smiled at his team, who all smiled and nodded their heads at him.
"Thank you sir! We really appreciate this!" Roberto spoke with charm and kindness.
"And I really appreciate all of your hard work ladies and gentlemen! Also, I'd like to congratulate my new business partner. Who will be leaving this office to run the secondary office in the countryside. To help appeal to all of our customers who are located outside of the city. And that person who is my new business partner is Tyler Blu Gunderson!" Adam announced proudly and began clapping his hands.
To which everyone else in the room stood up and gave him a standing ovation. With Roberto patting him on the back.
"Congratulations buddy! You deserve this 100%!" Roberto congratulated him with a proud grin.
"Thanks brother! I know that you always had my back. And I hope that you will be the best Office Manager here for years to come!" Blu complimented him back, even though Adam hasn't even announced that update yet.
"Wait, what?" The muscular blue macaw was shocked to hear this news. That he was completely unaware of this possibility.
"Awww man Blu! I wanted to announce that." Adam whined that his second big announcement was technically ruined.
"Sorry about that." The way he chuckled nervously as obviously showing him that he really didn't mean to ruin the big reveal.
"That's okay Blu. Well, he is correct Roberto! Now that Blu will be running out new office in the countryside. You will be officially promoted to office manager!" Adam announced proudly, as once again everyone in the room applauded him with so much pride for him.
"Thank you so much sir! I promise that I won't let you down." Roberto was very excited to hear about his new promotion. Especially since the new position means that he will earn a 45% pay rise. Will have better dental and medical benefits. Will have three weeks extra paid vacation. And he gets to have his very own office.
"I know you won't let he down. You've always been a very hard worker, and I have got not a single doubt that you will be able to lead this team to good things." The brown sparrow man shook hands with him. Right before giving one final announcement to the team. "And as a special treat for all of you. I have arranged for all of us to go for celebration drinks at Angelo's tonight."
"RDJ's not gonna be happy about that." Roberto whispered to Blu, who nodded his head in agreement.
"So we will meet there straight after work." He rhetorically asked all of them, who all cheered and gave each other high fives and fist bumps. "Great! That's all for now. As you were."
Just like that they all began to leave the conference room one by one. With Adam leaving the room first, followed by the majority of everyone else.
Apart from Roberto and Blu, who stayed behind to talk about their new promotions.
"So, you're gonna be leaving right now?" Roberto asked his best friend. Who nodded his head in agreement. "How far will you be from the apartment I stay in?"
"Don't worry Beto. I'll be a twenty seven minute drive away from the city. I'll give you the new address that we will be staying in. And you guys can come over any time you want." Blu replied with reassurance, patting him on the back. "You're gonna be okay."
"It's just, not gonna be the same around here without you man. Just such a shame that you are leaving."
"On to bigger and better things they say. But hey, when the office officially opens in a few months. I'll bring you in as my Office Manager. How does that sound?"
"I'll definitely hold you to that." He smirked and patted him on the back.
And just like that, Blu took all of his belongings from his office. Spent a good hour and a half packing up all of his items and possessions . As he was moving in to a new chapter in his life. And he couldn't be more excited for such a big opportunity.
Once he left the office with a couple of boxes, he began heading down to the parking lot where his car was normally kept there.
He gradually made his way down the narrow hallways to get to the entrance of the parking lot. Which if you were walking through this dark place on your own. Even your be scared of the possibility of being attacked by a random stranger.
Just as he strolled down the pathway to find his car, what he didn't realise, was that someone else was in the parking lot with him. But they were standing in the corner or the parking lot. So you couldn't see their face.
The blue macaw man whipped out his cell phone to give his wife a call. Telling her that instead of meeting him at the office. To meet him at home instead. Because of the big news that he wanted to tell her.
Blu: Hey honey! Change of plans. I'm going to be meeting you beck at the apartment in about fifteen minutes.
Jewel: Alright baby! I'll see you soon!
The conversation was only brief because there wasn't really much he could say over the phone.
But just as he put his cell phone away, he immediately went wide eyed in a horrified manner. "Ahhhh what?!"
Once his got a good look at what was in front of him. He saw that the tires on his car had been punctured by a sharp object. And the engine cap had been yanked off with force. With the oil leaking all over the concrete floor.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me?! Ughh, stupid prankster kids!" Blu instantly jumped to the conclusion that it may have been kids who vandalised his vehicle. "Haaaa, well…let's go and order an Uber."
"I can take you home?"
"AHHHHHH!" Blu instantly jumped at the sound of a new voice in the parking lot. And that very person was in fact Katie Becker. Who was leaning up against the wall wearing her tight little black dress. "Katie! Did you do this to my car?"
"Hmmm, I don't know? I can't remember. Hehehe…" The scarlet girl giggled mischievously, rubbing a finger down the middle of her cleavage. "So, unless you wanna walk home. You could always get a ride from me?"
"I'll take my chances!" Blu angrily responded and stormed out of the side exit.
"Wait! Blu!" Katie tried to chase after him, but he turned around and gave her a deadly glare.
"I already warned you before. I'll warn you again. I…Don't…Want…You! I love my…Wife!" He snarled at her, exiting through the side door.
As Blu was on his way to go and order a cab home, Katie remained in the parking lot. Leaning her head up against the door.
But, after a few seconds had passed. She began banging her head up against the door several times. Kind of like how Pennywise did in IT Chapter 2.
She would bash her head up against the door so many times, to the point where her head was bleeding.
Then afterwards she stormed right out of the parking lot.
She was clearly insane!
She just won't stop stalking Blu now will she? Followed him to work despite her already being fired. Stuck around in the parking lot, slashing the tires of Blu's car. Now bashing her head up against the door? Jeez. She is a complete psychopath! Also, Jewel offered to allow RDJ to stay with herself and Blu while his bar gets rebuilt and renovated. Plus, I wonder how Katie will react when she finds out Blu is moving away from the city? So much to look forward to as the story goes on. See you all soon for the next chapter!
