A View To Kill

The next morning I ended up running into Klaus on my way out the house. Kol & I still hadn't spoken so I was curious what kind of mood his brother would be in.

"Where are you going?" I asked as we fell into a slow stride together. If I was on damage control then Klaus was beyond damage and went straight into Crisis mode.

"To see my darling sister, would you like to come?" He asked almost innocent sounding. I should honestly be more cautious around Klaus. If I didn't make myself as important to them as I did he'd would've been killed me to make a point to Kol.

"Sure, I wanted to check in with her after Kol's antics yesterday." I replied unlocking my car door, the two of us hopped in and I quickly started the car."Do you have some sort of plan to deal with this?"

"He's going into a box." He replied bluntly, I flinched a bit not expecting him to have decided that so easily." I heard your argument and this is the best solution, once we've gotten the cure you can undagger him."

"You promise?" I asked driving away from the mansion. It was the best solution, I didn't like it but it would keep everybody safe. And Kol wouldn't have to be daggered for too long.

"I do, I'm telling you this because I don't need you sneaking behind my back to undagger him. It's better to have you on board rather than against me. You can be rather annoying."

"And here I thought it was you telling me out of respect for my relationship." I teased, it was truthfully meant to cover how I felt about the situation. Did I want to see Kol daggered for an undetermined amount of time? Hell no.

"I always liked you, I thought you were funny." Klaus replied with a small smile." You're sensible, you know when to wave the white flag and when to fight even harder."

Huh? Klaus queued me in on his plan because he actually really did like me. Who would've known.

"You really aren't so bad yourself." I replied with a snort."Once you had no interest in killing me."

"I hold a lot of respect for your bloodline. The things normal witches do are amazing but the things your family has done are astonishing." Klaus explained."When I thought your sister had died I was disappointed, that much power between the both of you could've done things we can't even imagine."

"I do really hate that we got nerfed so quickly." I shook my head annoyed at the other witches. I probably could've solved our issue without even needing help from anybody.

The rest of the drive we rode in silence. It wasn't awkward or anything. My mind was going a mile a minute and I'm sure Klaus' was too. Bonnie called me as soon as I parked the car in front of Bekah's without saying a word Klaus got out the car and disappeared inside the house.

"Hey." I answered taking the phone off speaker and holding it between my ear and shoulder as I shut the car off."What's up?"

"Are you alone?" Bonnie asked. I narrowed my eyes curious why she'd be asking me that."I need to tell you something big and nobody can be around when I do."

"I'm in front of Rebekah's house but Klaus is inside with her so they wouldn't be paying me any mind."

"Put up the silencing spell." She ordered.

"Are you being paranoid right now?" I asked teasingly. When she didn't say another word I rolled my eyes and put up the damn spell." Tell me now."

"You didn't hear this from me."

"I swear on Dad's life." I replied, rolling my eyes again."Either tell me or I'm hanging up."

"Fine. Elena is planning on having Jeremy kill Kol."

"Are you serious?" I asked any ounce of annoyance I had at Bonnie instantly vanished. I understood why she was beating around the bush and being so secretive." I expected it but I didn't think she'd actually think it was a good idea."

"It's honestly the best solution anybody has come up with."

"A dagger? Damon leaves town? More compulsion?" I rattled off almost instantly. I was growing more and more angry as the seconds went by. They were so quick to kill off anybody Elena didn't care about. If this were Elena dating Kol I guarantee you another way would've been found.

"I agree with you, I'm telling you this because my loyalty will always be with you first. What do you wanna do?" Bonnie asked softly, I could tell how much it was bothering her having to go behind Elena's back, sure she cared about them but she'd always love me more. Blood is thicker than water.

"Why did Elena tell you in the first place? There's no way she expected you to not say anything."

"I put up a spell on the house, they are sealed in. She told me once I finished putting up the spell. I called you as soon as I drove off." She explained. I ran my fingers through my hair.

"Which variation of the spell did you do? They can't leave and nobody can enter?"

"Yes, I'm sure she'll want me to drop it and put it back up when it's convenient." Bonnie replied, I let out a low whistle and started laughing. It wasn't a laugh because any of this was funny no, I was beyond angry."Lee?"

"Do nothing, act as if we never had this conversation." I responded hanging up. I tossed my phone in the glove compartment and climbed out the car.

If Elena wanted to play those games, I could play them too. And much better.

Klaus was coming out the house by the time I got to the front door. He took one look at my expression and any words he was about to say died. He placed a hand on my shoulder and just guided me back to the car.

"You look rather murderous." He said as we closed the car doors."I for one enjoy the devilish gleam in a person's eye but that isn't a normal thing for you."

If I told Klaus what Elena was planning on doing, he'd go straight over there and kill everybody. And I didn't need that.

"I'm fine. Today is just all types of fucked up." I replied with a huff. I put the car into drive and pulled away from the house." Did you get what you came for?"

"Rebekah wouldn't give up her dagger. I've got Stefan working on getting it from her." He explained, I scrunched up my face when did he talk to Stefan?

"When did you do that?"

"Oh he stayed the night." Klaus grinned almost like he was proud of his sister clearly getting laid.

"Gross. Do you plan on informing Elijah of the current situation?"

"No, Elijah doesn't need to be concerned with this I've got it handled." He replied I dropped Klaus back off at his house and then headed to Gramm's house. I knew I should just call it my house at this point I fully intended on moving into it on my birthday. But I'd probably always see it as her home.

I rolled my eyes sensing Kol before I even saw him, he was sitting on the front porch out in the open like he wasn't at the moment the most wanted man in Mystic Falls.

"Finally, you know how long I've been waiting for you?" He said standing up and holding out a bag from the grill. I got out the car and walked up to him."I'm sure these sliced potatoes you like so much are cold by now."

"Didn't you just not care about my feelings last night?" I asked instinctively, I was far from angry at Kol even though I know I should be. But knowing somebody is going to try and kill him today made it hard to remain angry atleast at him.

"I was behaving a bit rash." He admitted sheepishly."But that's why I'm here."

"Okay."

"Come back home with me." He placed the bag in my hand and held his other hand out for my car keys."So I can make last night up to you."

"Or we can stay here." I replied pushing the door open with my free hand."Come in and get comfortable cause I have stuff to do."

Kol followed me inside and I paused as he closed the door. Something about it felt off. I sighed relieved I'd chosen to stash the talisman and headstone somewhere else.

"Does it smell like somebody else was here?" I asked as I popped my fries into the microwave, I felt around with my magic but didn't pick anybody up.

"No, but your Dad was." He answered, I spun around confused how he'd know that. He passed me a piece of paper with my name written on it.

I scoffed before crumpling it up and tossing it into the garbage. I went straight up to my bedroom and threw the door open sure enough Rudy was laying on the bed and my stockpile of vervain was long gone.

"Awesome." I rolled my eyes flopped down beside the dog who jostled awake by me laying down. He whimpered before wiggling closer to me.

"Are you gonna go home?" He asked flopping down so that Rudy laid between the both of us. He scratched behind the dogs ears.

"I want my fucking money back for the vervain he stole." I hissed. My entire vervain collection was gone. Dad claimed he'd put it to better use than I did. Who steals their child's stuff and writes a note."Do you mind staying here with him?"

"I'll just flick through your knickers and scratch all the spots Rudy can't reach while you're gone." He replied, he sounded a bit too serious. I wasn't even sure if I genuinely believed that was his plan after all.

"I'll be quick, I promise." I sat up and gave him a quick kiss."Don't leave seriously."

"I won't."

"Give me your word." I practically begged, I didn't really wanna let him out of my sight. I couldn't keep him safe if he wasn't with me. If I had to run home for a family meeting the safest place for him was here; nobody other than Caroline could get in.

"Why are you so adamant I stay here, little witch?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. I tried my hardest to keep my heart rate steady, I refused to lie to him but I also didn't want to completely give away that something was up.

"To keep you safe." I replied stiffly standing up, he popped up right beside me and grabbed my arm my short answer clearly wasn't enough.

"What do you know?"

"Once Klaus can get Bekah to hand over her dagger he's gonna dagger you." I replied; I adored Klaus and I wasn't totally against his plan. However I fully intended on being the person Kol can rely on without it biting him in the ass.

"That's it? You're scared of Nik?"

"If you leave someone will try and kill you. I rather neither of those options happen. Just stay here. I'm going to be fast I promise."

"You know I can't be killed. You worry too much darling." He said, I narrowed my eyes and glared at him until he sighed frustrated."I'll be here."

I really didn't want to leave but I needed to play along with my Dad long enough for me to never have to see him again. With one last look at Kol, I left the room scooped up my keys and got back into my car.

I quickly drove to my house. I was confused to see Jeremy standing on the front porch. I hopped out the car and pulled the key to the front door out.

"Jer?" I asked confused. He turned on his heel and flashed a relieved smile at me."What are you doing here?"

"Looking for Bonnie she isn't answering her phone. I need her." He answered I guess the lack of alarm on my face told him she was okay.

"I'm assuming she's in the house come on." I motioned for him to step aside so I could unlock the door. And sure enough Bonnie and Dad stood in the living room, he had her car keys in one hand and her phone in the other.

Jeremy and I awkwardly walked in.

"What's going on?" Bonnie & I asked each other at the same moment. We probably mirrored each other perfectly with the looks of confusion.

"I called you like a hundred times." Jeremy said to Bonnie. My jaw tensed understanding exactly what he was calling her for.

"I have to go." Bonnie replied, I raised my eyebrow curious of what she intended on doing. I know what I told her but did they seriously believe my sister would help them harm my boyfriend?

"Nu-ah, if I have to sit through a family meeting you are too." I hissed. The door opened up again which got all of us to turn our toward it. Abby stood in front of us, I let out an ugly cackle."Fuck you both I'm leaving."

"Alicia Emily Bennett." Dad hissed. I didn't give a damn about what he said and I definitely don't give a damn about somebody who bailed on us twice.

"This is family business you should go." Abby said turning toward Jeremy. He nodded and took a step toward her but something about his posture wasn't right. Without warning he lunged at Abby. I flinched slightly taken aback.

"Jer it's okay. She's our mom go I'm right behind you." Bonnie said. Jeremy took a deep breath and walked out the house." You wanna talk so let's talk."

"Can we start with my vervain you stole?" I asked turning toward Dad who had the audacity to look annoyed."I literally had the only stash of vervain in town and you take it? What did you even do with it?"

"Dumped it into the water." Bonnie said with a shrug. I made a mental note of that at least that meant I could semi get some of it back.

"Smart."

"Who is professor Shane and what has he been telling you?" Abby asked turning straight to Bonnie.

"I'm tryna figure out how he suddenly has the ability to call you but couldn't do that for how many years Bonnie?" I asked. Everything about this was inconvenient; these two dead beats would want to have a meeting the day somebody is going to die.

"Alicia, I'll get to you in a second." Abby said in a serious tone. It was laughable how she thought she could mother us now."What has he been telling you Bonnie?"

"Dad really had no right to call you." Bonnie agreed with me.

"It's not just him witches talk." She replied looking from Bonnie to me."About both of you."

"I found a new way to practice magic, it's unconventional. But I can handle myself, I promise." Bonnie said, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. What kind of magic could a human teach her that was unconventional.

"That's not what Shane said." Dad interjected. I racked my brain trying to think of anything that could make sense here.

"I've warned you about dark magic." Abby said, she made sure to narrow her eyes at me despite talking to Bonnie.

"I've done only clean magic don't look at me." I shrugged.

"Shane's sitting in a jail cell you're gonna believe him over me?" Bonnie asked shaking her head." It's not dark magic, it's expression. And I need it. They found a cure Mom. There is a cure for vampirism and I can do the spell to access it. I can save you but I need to go."

"Bonnie expression is beyond evil." I said, I remembered the chills I got just looking at Kol's book. It gave me such a bad vibe I didn't even want to snoop through it.

"I'm not the one who needs to be saved you are." Abby said. Bonnie without wasting another second went out the front door. I stared slack jawed as the attention immediately fell to me.

"What?"

"You know how many witches I had to kill when I got to town this morning? Somehow you run away and end up one of the most wanted witches in New Orleans." Abby hissed.

"Oh that." I replied with a sigh." That wasn't really my fault, I honestly was willing to die."

"What?" Dad asked I take it mom hadn't shared the details with him.

"Oh it was a sacrifice. That Kol. You know the vampire you guys hate so much? Yeah he saved me and brought me back home."

"I trusted you to look after them." Abby turned to Dad and that was the exact moment I'd taken my leave. I bolted out the front door and jumped into my car pleasantly surprised Bonnie was sitting in the passenger seat. Without another word I put the car into drive and headed off to Elena's house.

I parked in front of the car and grabbed the handle ready to jump out, Bonnie grabbed my other arm and stopped me.

"You are going to go back to Kol and keep him away from here. I'll deal with Elena & Jeremy okay?"

"Okay." I nodded my head as Bonnie jumped out the car, I watched her jog up the steps before disappearing inside the house. Just to be safe before I drove off I felt around with my magic; I let out a relieved sigh when I only felt one Vampire's energy and it was so faint it could only be Elena.

I pressed the peddle down as hard as I could and sped back to Gramm's house. I sloppily parked the car out front and bolted up the steps. Since I'd left Kol in the house I didn't even bother to lock the front door. I had the biggest smile on my face when he appeared in front of me. He put his fingers up to his lips and put his phone onto speaker.

"I need to talk to you in person. I want to call a truce in the name of Silas." The voice on the other side of the phone said, I narrowed my eyes recognizing Elena's voice almost immediately. I started to open my mouth and say something but she cut me off." Do not tell Alicia I called you."

"You want to talk about Silas?" He asked staring at me with a raised eyebrow. My blood was clearly boiling and it would only take him a few more seconds to put everything together." Why can't Alicia know about this? She can honestly answer your questions about Silas just as well as I can."

"She can be a bit insecure when it comes to me." Elena said. I snorted and stared at the phone bewildered. One thing I never was, was insecure about a girl who's shared the same face as who knows how many people.

"I can't see an all powerful witch being insecure of a doppelgänger with no magic. But I'll tell you what, how about I come to you?"

It was adorable how he was quick to defend me while still handling business. However I told him he was not allowed to leave this house.

Without waiting for her response, Kol hung up the phone and slipped it into his pocket. Rudy sat behind his leg holding his leash in his mouth.

"You aren't going over there." I deadpanned."She doesn't want to talk about Silas, she wants to kill you."

"You honestly think she's capable of killing an Original? She didn't even kill Finn. Beginners luck, wouldn't happen again in a million years."

"She seems to have an unbelievable amount of plot armor on her side." I replied taking Rudy's leash from him, the dog started wagging his tail excitedly."Unless you intend on taking lil man out for a walk, get back upstairs."

"Alicia."

"No."

"You can't tell me what to do." He challenged. I tilted my head to the side and scoffed.

"I can and I did."

"I'm just going to educate the girl on Silas." He explained holding his hands up.

"And as you said Alicia can explain it just as well. So you stay here and I'll go."

"Option three, we both go." He tried to level with me. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

"Sit." I ordered. A mischievous glint danced across Kol's eyes before he eventually sat down on the couch. He kicked his feet up on the coffee table (which Gramm's would've hated) and grabbed the remote.

"Fine what do you want to do then since I'm being confined to your home?"

"Watch Tv and then tomorrow you are leaving town." I ordered. Kol sat up and looked at me almost surprised I'd say that."Unless you want to end up in a box either daggered or dead, that is your best option."

"I'm not too much of a fan of running, I've only been forced to do it for a thousand years."

Before I could even respond Kol darted out the house, I groaned annoyed. A feeling of dread quickly filled my entire body, I grabbed my car keys and bolted out the door.

If there was ever a time to be thankful I lived in a small town it would be now, traffic was next to non existent I made it to Elena's in record time.

I didn't need to use my magic to know Kol was here. I sighed in relief, throwing the front door open. My momentary relief turned to a scream of anguish as I watched Elena dose Kol with what appeared to be vervained water and Jeremy drive the white oak stake through his heart.

I could do nothing but watch as Kol burst into flames, my heart was running a mile a minute as he desperately tried to extinguish himself. He fell in what felt like slow-motion directly in front of me in the middle of Elena's living room.

I felt myself being pulled backwards and I didn't even fight it. I was pulled against somebody's chest forcing my eyes away from my now deceased boyfriend.

"What did you do?" Klaus growls, he sounded like he was in disbelief about what he'd seen also.

"We didn't have a choice. He was trying to cut off Jeremy's arm." Elena cried out, I felt my blood boil at the obvious lie. Bonnie had tipped me off well in advance about her plan.

"Why lie Elena? Stand on that shit." I hissed spinning on my heel right out of Klaus' arms. Jeremy stepped protectively in front of Elena. The two of them knew Klaus may not be able to get into the house but I could and neither of them could take me on angry supernatural or not.

When Elena didn't reply Klaus got angry."He never would've even gotten inside if you hadn't set a trap for him."

"You said you were gonna put him down too." Elena stammered out, I took a step closer making sure my feet flirted with the threshold. A look of betrayal crossed Elena's face.

"You'd really side with him?" Jeremy asked. My murderous glare went from Elena to him." You've known us our entire lives and you're threatening us over somebody who deserved to die."

I didn't need to turn around to see Klaus's glare rivaled mine. It was indeed a poor choice of wording in front of possibly two of the worst people who that could've been said in front of.

"I was going to make him suffer on my terms!" Klaus yelled back, I rolled my eyes if I'd had things my way that wouldn't have happened either." I want to burn this house down, and when you both flee for your lives. I'll kill you without even blinking."

"I do enjoy playing with fire." I held my hand out and created a ball of fire, the amount of wood these houses were built with would turn this tiny little ball of fire into a massive blaze.

"If you kill us you'll never get the cure. You'll never make more hybrids." Jeremy said, I snorted as if that was some sort of checkmate or something.

Family meant everything to Klaus. Why the hell would he give a damn about Hybrids right now?

"You really think he cares that much about more Hybrids? Just because you got away with killing Finn doesn't mean you'll get away with killing another member of their family." I retorted, they really didn't know how to quit when they were ahead.

"I want the cure so I can destroy it. I would've killed you all the moment we dug it up. But now I'm just gonna watch you burn instead. Alicia?"

I realized if I burned down the house than I'd be burning up what was left over of Kol. I let the flame die out and instead used my magic to yank Elena out the house and right in front of Klaus.

Jeremy darted to the threshold but stopped he knew they'd both be dead if he went out that door after her.

Wordlessly I turned on my heel and walked down the steps, I'd heard Elena begging and pleading for her life before suddenly hearing nothing.

I didn't kill her.

I climbed into my car and drove back home. I knew I shouldn't have come back here and I fully intended on getting the hell out of town for good.
