A/N: Disclaimer, the title of this fic is from Becca Bradley's song "Good Shepherd of My Soul." That song is what inspired the theme of this fic.

I'm not terribly happy with this one, but my brain is tired and I'm busy today, so I'll have to be content I suppose.

Prompt: The Horse and His Boy contains a few kidnappings which were never described in detail (Hwin, Bree, and Cor), pick one to write about. Or an unrelated kidnapping, if you prefer.

Hwin had heard about Aslan since she was a newborn. He was the guardian of Narnia and all the creatures within.

But now, as the smelly, dark-skinned men dragged her away, her sides shuddered with the doubt creeping in on every side.

Did Aslan truly care?

Or was she expendable to Him?

Her head drooped lower than it ever had as they led her out of the greenery of the North and toward the desert of Calormen.

Years later, she snorted softly and approached the Great Lion in the green courtyard. "Please," she murmured, "you're so beautiful. You may eat me if you like. I'd sooner be eaten by you than fed by anyone else."

She knew, though, that He would not. He had led them out of captivity now for a reason. Her sides shook with joy as He gave her a lion's kiss.

"Thank you, Aslan," she whispered before he turned to Bree.
