The white glow slowly faded, allowing Megan to see where she'd landed. There was a second where she wondered how long she'd been standing there until she could actually see… wouldn't it be, like, super deadly to land somewhere and not be able to see for even a second?
Anyway, it seemed to be her lucky day (wonder how long that'll last), as she'd landed in a living room. In fact, she was standing with her face up against a ladder.
"Megan!" A Scottish voice sounded from her left, sounding slightly panicked. "What a cool… magic trick."
Megan, still a bit dazed, turned to see Amy Pond staring at her with wide eyes. "What are you-"
"Ah, yes!" A male voice interrupted from her right. "All that practising has paid off, right?" Rory nodded with a forced smile on his face, his eyes darting to the top of the ladder. Megan followed his gaze to see a middle-aged man that looked like Ronald Weasly's dad standing on it, looking very confused.
The man opened his mouth, but before he could speak a wheezing sound filled the room, accompanied by a gust of air. "Did you leave the back door open when you came in?" he asked Megan, who was still standing there opening and closing her mouth without any sound coming out.
"What is he doing?" Rory asked.
"I'm gonna kill him." Amy said.
The Tardis interior slowly seemed to materialise around them, together with three other people: the eleventh Doctor, some safari-looking dude and a woman that Megan knew to be Queen Nefertiti.
The Doctor wasn't looking at them, not noticing Megan or the man of which Megan was now pretty sure was Rory's dad. "Hello! You weren't busy, were you? Well, even if you were, it wasn't as interesting as this probably is. Didn't want you to miss it. Now, just a quick hop." The Tardis shook and hummed softly as the Doctor messed with several controls. "Everybody grab a torch!" He said, again completely ignoring his two unexpected guests as he walked outside, the others quickly following him.
Megan jumped as a lightbulb fell down in front of her face, crashing on the floor. "You alright up there?" She asked.
"No." The man looked down. "Are you?"
"No."
"Right… shall we go outside then?"
"I'll grab the torches."
As soon as Megan stepped out of the Tardis, someone launched at her and grappled her. It took her a second to realise that this attack was, in fact, a hug.
"Did you think I wouldn't notice you sneaking on the Tardis like that?" the Doctor said, lifting her up into the air.
"I- okay. Nice to meet you too."
The Doctor's face blanked. "Oh."
"Yeah. I figured I'd get that out there before you start rambling and I hear stuff I shouldn't."
He put her down and stepped away to give her some space. "You always said this would be a bit awkward."
"Good to know I'm not a liar."
"Sorry, about the whole…" his arms flailed through the air. "hug thing."
Megan shrugged. "I'm fine with hugs. I'm just glad you didn't kiss me or anything. That would've been even more awkward and borderline sexual as-" she noticed the other five people staring at her. "I'll shut up now. So, where's the dinosaurs?"
Amy frowned. "What dinosaurs?"
A roar echoed through the hallway.
Megan pointed at the source of the sound. "Those dinosaurs! Which, I'm guessing, we're going to run away from now."
"That's my psychic," the Doctor said, a fond smile on his face as he grabbed Megan's hand and started to do just as she'd said.
Between the floor shaking from every step the dinosaurs behind them took and the fact that the Doctor's grip on her hand was very tight, Megan didn't have much of a choice but to run. Still, nothing stopped her from muttering some complaints about the unoriginality of not her nickname and the explanation of her knowledge.
"This way!" Queen Nefertiti yelled, dashing into a small sideroom and out of the dark hallway. Everyone followed and sat in silence as the two spiked dinosaurs stampeded past. Megan took the opportunity to catch her breath, not being used to much of any physical activity.
The group walked back out into the hallway to watch the dinosaurs go, discussing how the dinosaurs got on the ship, that they were not actually flying the ship (come on, Brian), and that -oh yeah- they had six hours until the ship would be blown to smithereens.
FUN.
The Doctor and the Williamses were taking a look at a system interface screen, finding out more about the ship. Meanwhile, Megan and Amy took a look around the room, inspecting the cobwebs, dust, and claw marks on the walls that were big enough to split a human in half. Vertically.
"So," the redhead said after a moment of silence, "first trip?"
Megan nodded. "Pretty much."
"How're you holding up?"
"I think I'm in a state of shock?" Megan said, not able to hold back a laugh. "I feel… fine. Though I'm ninety-nine percent sure it's because my brain is refusing to accept that this is actually happening. The remaining one percent is blaming adrenaline."
A buzzing sound ran through the room. Megan turned to see what had happened, and saw that the Doctor, Rory, and Brian had disappeared.
"Oh, great," Amy said.
"Wait, I think I know how to work this thing," Megan said, making her way over to the screen. "It's a voice activated teleport. I think they're on a beach?"
"A beach?" Amy repeated.
"It's still on the ship, if that helps. Computer, take us all to the… engine room." A red error popped up on the screen: power low, multiple-person teleport disabled. "Of course."
"I say we go out and have a look at this ship ourselves," the hunter, John, said. Nefertiti and Amy agreed, but Megan kept her eyes on the screen, deep in thought.
"Megan," Amy said, "You okay?"
"I have been brutally ripped from my own universe, my own life, and have been dumped here like a sack of rotten potatoes left to fetch for myself. That was less than fifteen minutes ago. I don't know how I'm coping right now, but since I barely know what's going on I'd rather be with the Doctor." Megan looked back and smiled apologetically. "Not that I've known him much longer than I've known you, but he's more… familiar. And I'll take any bit of familiarity I can get right now." She turned back to the screen. "Computer, transport me to the engine room?"
The buzzing sound filled the air again, and Megan found herself being transported, this time through choice.
The landing was smooth, and Megan felt a nice breeze against her face as she gathered her bearings. She could hear rough cries coming from the air, and a chill went down her spine as she realised she'd been transported to a beach with a pterodactyl infestation.
She turned and found the Doctor and the two other men standing around rock sticking out of a larger cliff. "Doctor!" she yelled, running towards them.
"Meg!" he greeted her with a smile, "We're in the engine room!"
"I know!"
"An artificial ocean with hydrogenerators!"
"... I know."
His smile fell. "Well you could at least pretend to be surprised."
"I'll keep it in mind. Now, what are we going to do about the pterodactyls?"
"The what?" Brian said. Megan just pointed up to the sky, where the outlines of the flying dinosaurs became clearer, and larger, by the second. "Oh my lord. Those are pterodactyls."
"Yes," the Doctor said, "On any other occasion, I'd be thrilled. Exposed on a beach? Less than thrilled. We should be going." He grabbed Megan's hand and tugged her along, Rory and Brian following.
"Where do we go?" Rory asked.
"Definitely away from them!" The Doctor said, picking up the pace and walking away from the water, towards the rocky cliff. "That's the plan."
"That's the plan?" Rory shouted.
"Amendments are welcome!"
Megan's heart hammered against her chest as the pterodactyls started flying just a few metres above them. "Can we please just run?"
"Amendment passed!" the Doctor yelled, looking around the cliff as they ran. "There's an opening over there!"
Pterodactyls swooping around them, the group bolted for the gap. As Megan ran, she wondered if she should start reading up on self-destructive behaviour as a response to traumatic events. Considering her situation, there was probably a thing or two she could learn.
A/N: Hi yall, its been a while(!) Got bored, saw your reviews, wrote some stuff. By the very nature of how these stories work, I cannot write this parody of jumping-through-time-OC fics without it being... a jumping-through-time-OC fic. Only these can be incredibly dull to write, as at least 50% of the chapters covering an episode is just... transcribing? Not really fun. This chapter (and the next one) will go for the classical approach, after that I've got one lined up with a slightly different approach where it won't make sense unless you know the episode.
Let me know what you think, what you like/don't like, what you'd like to see (me make fun of). As I said, I've got some stuff lined up, but I think reviews, especially with suggestions, will help motivate me to write more. It's what brought me back :)
