Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book III. Last time, the team split up to locate the three different Elements scattered across National City. Spyro, Supergirl, Toyman, and Sentinel tracked the Element of Earth to CatCo Worldwide Media, Cynder joined Superman, Dreamer, and Guardian at National City University, while Flash, Martian Manhunter and Lena Luthor ventured into LuthorCorp's R&D Department. But they're not the only ones in the hunt, as Myriad, General Luthor, and Malefic J'onnz are also on their tails. We'll pick up with each team in due time, but we'll start with Cynder's team. So, what awaits on campus? Read on to discover...
(Our scene resumes at National City University, where Cynder, Superman, Dreamer, and Guardian are checking out the campus trying to get a bead on whichever Element got stuck here.)
Dreamer: This is quite a path of destruction.
Guardian: Looks kind of like a tornado went through here.
Cynder: That's honestly telling. I think I know which one we're seeking. (To Superman) How're we doing on finding this thing?
Superman: I admit, I'm not as familiar with J'onn's tech as I should be, but it looks like it's not too far ahead.
(And just as Superman says that, a sound not unlike the tornado that Guardian was referencing can be heard emanating from a nearby building, apparently some kind of gymnasium)
Cynder: No need for the tracker. I think that's our destination.
Dreamer: Looks like the tornado analogy was more apt than we thought.
Cynder: And it confirms which Element we're looking for. The only one that could cause this amount of damage and do, well, that, is Wind.
Superman: If that's what we're after, then let's get at it before the Dark Knights can arrive.
Guardian: Agreed.
Superman: I'll scout the scene from above.
(Just as Superman's about to take to the skies, Cynder latches on to his leg and pulls him back down)
Cynder: Trust me, with an uncontained Wind Element, that's not a good move at this distance. Get too close from the air and you could end up halfway across the continent in five seconds.
Superman: I've been thrown worse than that, but I'll take your word on that.
Cynder: The Element itself must be in the eye of that vortex. In the meantime, stay close to me. (Flares her wings) I may not have the Element in my system anymore, but my wings should still protect you from getting blown away until we get to the center.
Superman: Then let's get moving.
(With no hesitation, Dreamer, Guardian, and Superman get behind Cynder, who flares her wings across all three of them as they move in towards the vortex in the center of the university gymnasium. But watching them from just off the campus grounds is the familiar green armor of General Luthor.)
General Luthor: (Looking at Superman with disdain) Look at him, hiding behind others, making them his lackeys, just like on my world. Well, watch your back Superman. (Puts his helmet on) I won't let you pull the same stunt here.
(And with that, General Luthor somehow sneaks into the campus, progressing towards the Wind Element, as the quartet of heroes finally enter the gymnasium, struggling against the gale to reach the eye of the storm)
Guardian: This wind is crazy!
Dreamer: (Unable to hear her) What?!
Guardian: (Slightly louder now) I said this wind is crazy!
Cynder: Save your voices, nobody's going to be able to hear anyone until we get to the eye!
(The quartet presses on, Cynder's wing's flared against the whipping winds. The breeze gets so strong at one point her claws literally dig into the flooring of the gymnasium, but after a moment, they make it into the eye of the storm, and the winds die down)
Cynder: (Lowering her wings with clear exhaustion) Phew. You never really appreciate how tough the Element of Wind is until you have to fight it without having it yourself.
Superman: At least we got through it.
Cynder: Now let's finish our objective before anything can happen.
(But of course, just when Cynder says that, General Luthor blasts through the gale)
General Luthor: Yeah, that's not happening.
Cynder: Because I had to open my big mouth.
(And as the confrontation with General Luthor begins, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to close off for now. So, now we know the second of the Elements we're after in National City: the Element of Wind. But of course, just as Cynder and crew get to their destination, General Luthor arrives. So, how's this battle going to go down?
