The third book: journey all over the kingdom!
The mountain
On the journey down the mountain, they pass through a treacherous pine forest, which is dark and tall and intimidating. The wolves there can climb trees! So Uraraka has to float their tents and caravan for the night to keep them safe.
They pass through Adhesia. There, they seek out Tsuburaba's (the twelfth suitor – the kind one) family, and find that the children had all died of fever. Uraraka feels the sorrow of having done everything she could, which was not enough.
They see, from a distance, a strange figure in black. The wizard Shigaraki? He smiles, but leaves them alone.
Onirus
Momo's family are fine! The revolution has not been that drastic at all, and the people are much happier. We meet the remaining Todorokis, who are nice.
There is, however, some angst about how evil Endeavour was to force his sons to murder him. And to force Shouto to run away in the dead of night with Deku.
Deku and Shouto are forced to finally confess their feelings to one another. Todoroki asks for his hand in marriage! Which his brother, the new king, makes perfectly legal.
Deku decides to travel home to tell his mother the news. Hence his new year prophecy! See, I was thinking of all of this well in advance…
All of them would finally see those beautiful trees that Yaoyorozu had gone on about for so long.
Stavilar
We finally get to see some of stavilar, which is rather like Russia and very beautiful. It is Kirishima's homeland
Here it is warm enough and safe enough for Kirishima to transform into a great red dragon. He allows his friends to climb on his back, and together they soar the skies for a bit.
Mina and Kirishima are cute together
We meet more dragon-folk
The dragon-folk are fantastically genial, and allow the (remaining) travellers to stay in a great farmhouse together
There is finally the awkwardness of Ochaco and Katsuki being made to share a room! They are married after all, so their host gives them a room with a double bed…
I've been debating with myself, and I'm really not sure that I have the heart to write a sex scene. It would be in vague and philosophical terms, like "it was warm...". It would also be a bit clumsy and cute, first times and all.
Abrassa
Katsuki brings Ochaco to his home, and introduces her to his parents
His parents give him hell for RUNNING AWAY AND GETTING MARRIED AND BECOMING KING without telling them. lol
They're very nice to Ochaco though.
We get to see everyone in Abrassan clothes (think a little bit ancient Greece, a little bit north Africa, a little bit middle east)
Ochaco gets to see murals of the moon goddess, who is wide-faced just like her
We learn that the old man priam is dead. He is not mourned. Katsuki had been mentally preparing himself to defend his honour by saying that he had saved Lasandu and become king, etc… but finds that he doesn't need to anymore
This prompts some soul-searching about the purpose of his life. He decides that he wants to become a knight, after all.
Ochaco wants to learn to fight, too, though not necessarily go through the rigorous knighting process
We learn a little more fun backstory about old man priam, which is that he tried to set Katsuki up to marry Camie Utsushimi
Camie is still around. Ochaco gets a bit jealous, and it's tense but also funny.
Camie explains that she really has no interest in Katsuki, and also hated old man priam. All is well.
We learn the backstory of Katsuki's jambiya. He found it on the shore in the darkness of an early morning in winter. The moonlight reflected off of it, and the waves lapped at it, so he believed that it was a gift from the goddesses of the moon and the sea. Later, he overheard a fisherman talking of a shipwreck, and realised that his Jambiya must be that of a warrior who died on that ship. Still, he believes that fate has sent it to him. And it has, hasn't it?
Capcana
It is foggy and cold
The girls get cute new clothes and bond :)
We learn Mina's backstory. Her mum died when she was young, and she had no father, so she had no one to rely on. She became and urchin and travelled about. In Stavilar, she met Kirishima, whose family took her in for a bit (remember, they're really good hosts!) until she eventually convinces him to travel the world with her.
They meet with All Might and his knight's formation
All Might and Katsuki have a tender moment, in which All Might explains that he's proud of all the maturing that Katsuki has done and that he always knew that he had the potential for greatness.
However, All Might suggests something surprising: in order to hone their skills the best and make the world a better place, it is Ochaco who should become a Knight and learn to fight, since she has less experience, and instead, Katsuki should go to some sort of university/college equivalent so he can study up on politics and become a good advisor to whichever country he's in. And try to mediate war.
They have a sort of college/university style relationship where they study together a lot
They will, eventually, of course, have to defeat the wizard Shigaraki in battle.
Perhaps shigaraki will stalk Ochaco, obsessed with the fact that she was able to save Lasandu after all? Perhaps he will be offended by the words of some Capcanish noble, and Ochaco and Katsuki will have to intervene to save the day and stop him from launching another curse.
And so they live happily ever after, making the world a better place.
Personal notes:
During my first long hiatus of this fanfic, I met my partner, whom I am still with and love to bits. When we first met, we'd spend long hours in the night, him laying on his bed and me laying on his floor, talking about our lives and interests and philosophies. There was a lot of cat-and-mouse, and dancing around our true intentions. I thought – how like my fanfiction! But I didn't tell him that, of course. At first it ended in tears, but everything worked out in the end. Oh, also – he swears a lot.
