Chapter 12
It was impossible to describe, but Wendy's taste buds watered with each bite. Food had a taste to it her body craved and so she devoured food. At such a pace that Natsu would be put to shame. Something she craved had been fulfilled Akizou watched with amusement, but enjoyed the silent conversation. Most people were out and about; Carla had awoken some time to see Wendy. But stayed silent just watching Wendy with only a few comments or questions as the food was devoured. Finally after she was satisfied Wendy placed her head on the table. As bloat finally settled in, Akizou could only laugh at her. The woman was a nice woman who helped fulfill Wendy's need, "In all my years of life I have never seen any man. Let alone a woman especially at your size devour so much food in one sitting. I would suggest you make some much needed changes to your diet. It would help with your mood and other things. But that can be done later."
"Why does the food taste so good?" Wendy asked with gluttony in her eyes. Not even the food she had gotten three days ago tasted so good.
"I'm guessing this is the first time in years or perhaps ever. You've tasted real food. Just because we come from the sea does not mean we do not grow food. The Clan had special requirements and rules for all food. That is grown or imported into the clan for consumption. Because of this food here has a higher quality and once you start eating it. It becomes hard to eat the normal junk that most of the population consumes." Both of them spoke in their native tongue which left Carla absolutely lost to what the conversation was saying. As the two of them spoke way faster using sounds that Carla could not hear or recreate.
"What are you saying?" Carla finally asked.
"Relax Carla," Wendy said. As she was slowly recovering from her food induced coma. Akizou looked at Carla bewildered. "We're just talking about food. Which is so amazing."
"You can talk?" Akizou said suspicious who switching to Fiorien. It was clear she had quite the accent, a beautiful one that was hard to describe. And based on how she spoke it had been some many years since the woman had spoken in such a tongue. "What are you?"
"This is Carla," Wendy said. Jumping between Fiorien and Amosla mixing words and sentences. Akizou seemed to understand everything Wendy was saying without any issue. "She's an Exceed and my best friend. A highly intelligent sentient cat like race, they even have wings. I hatched her from an egg when I was little and we've been together since."
"Interesting," the older woman said. "I've never seen such a creature like you. I recommend you learn the regional language of Amosla. Most people in this city only speak it. And it's Miss Marvells native tongue. And the proud language of the Timmeti which your…friend is a member of."
"So she's a Black Fox," Carla said. "So that's why they're always so worried about her. What I'm confused is how did we end up here? And who are you?"
"Well I do not know how you ended up here. But I can tell you we found the two of you unconscious in a small pound just outside the city itself. And you're lucky someone noticed you or you'd probably be dead by now." Akizou said to Carla as Wendy was sniffing the air. Which had cut the conversation silent for a moment as a moment later. An explosion occurred shaking the foundation of the building itself. The older woman stood up. "What the hell is going on? We need to move to a safer location."
"I don't think that's possible," Wendy replied back in Amosla. The two of them started to walk out of the medical room and down to the lower floor. Which was the fastest way out to see a man standing as voices shouted. Appearing from the shadows was a tall man. Wearing a black clock with a rigid yellow line two long swords in the mans gloved hands. His voice was deep as he focused deeply on Wendy who instinctively backed up. "Sky Dragon wing attack!" Wendy shouted as inscribed on the back side of his arm was a guild mark. Not one that she recognized the man was stumbling in disarray and Wendy followed the woman. Who for someone who age and size could move at quite a decent pace.
"Why are they attacking?" The older woman asked, "Before you ask. He's a member of a dark guild in the city we've been unable to remove. Chaos Blade usually all they do is petty theft and other types of organized crime, but this…is different. Too organized even for them."
"What do we do?" Wendy asked.
"Get out of here first," the woman said. "And then regroup. However, doing this has an agenda. Those bumbling idiots would usually spend too much time fighting. We need to gather some force and take back the city-"
Shadows draped over the land as violence consumed the city. The Black Foxes were a brilliant people, but even the most mighty could still be defeated. It was a surprising turn around as 200 dark wizards executed a plan of his own creation. The Ghost watched with glee as a masterful plan came together. It had taken months to whip the dark guild into any actual useful fighting force. In his hand was a lacrima that was viewing Wendy as she engaged the only man he sent to deal with her. It was clear to him she was struggling to fight against a man. Who could so easily be fought, but she was quite young. Too young for her own good. But he would personally beat it out of her. For weakness was a mistake that could not be allowed to fester. With that he held out his hand and muttered the spell. It's time to
Sweat was pouring down Wendy's forehead as the man was rather stubborn. This was one of the most difficult fights in her life. The man stood up insulting her and his magic was unlike anything Wendy had faced. He used a weird blend of dance magic, requip and blade magic. Each slash from his blade was far more liquid motion; it was as if the man was a ballet dancer. It stunk and scuffed against her as the pains from standing up Wendy barely dodged the man's attack. Suddenly the ground began to shake and the man looked around. Looking up into the sky as the fight had moved from inside to breaking out towards the empty streets. Looking into the sky a giant star had formed and the man looked around. "What the hell? This isn't part-"
He never did finish that sentence and it would be the last time Wendy would ever see him. For a bright light followed covering the entire city and forever altered not only Wendy's future, but that of the entire kingdom of Fiore.
