Wassup guys, sorry about last chapter. Is updated now so he actually used Apollo's blessing. Also about Percy being "sadistic", more will be revealed soon. But now on with this chapter.
Chapter 15
(Percy)
Someone else? There is another big bad? Who is this sleeping woman? Could this be to do with the prophecy Rachel spoke of? Why can't I catch a break?
Many thoughts ran through Percy's head over and over. All he wished for was a break, for a permanent place where he could find peace.
Have I done something to deserve this?
But most of all...
Why the Tartarus would the fates be this cruel?
He couldn't worry about that just now, he had to get Thalia back to Artemis.
(Artemis)
Unfortunately Artemis was unable to fight the monsters as they had not attacked her hunters first. But she orchestrated the attack and rescue. And now in the aftermath they could finally check on the girl. They had moved her away from the camp while Percy and Thalia finished off the gorgons, she was sure that they would.
She gestured for hunt to take a few steps back as not to scare the young girl.
Artemis approached her carefully. The girl was young. She had bright blonde hair with sky blue eyes.
Just like my brother. Definitely his daughter. But why did he care so much?
Artemis knew that Apollo cared a lot about his children but he seemed to care even more about this girl. It was... odd...
Artemis knelt down in front of the girl.
"Hey there, its okay the monsters are gone."
The girl looked up at Artemis tearfully.
"Thank you." She said timidly.
"What's your name?"
The girl looked up and smiled slightly.
"My name is Lettie and I am seven years old."
Artemis smiled softly, knowing that the girl must have reversed that.
"Well Lettie, you're safe here. We are the hunters."
Her eyes lit up.
"Wait you must be auntie Artemis! Daddy told me all about the hunt and all about you. You're my hero."
She wrapped her dinky little arms around a shocked Artemis.
How does she know? Usually demigods don't know about everything until they're a lot older.
"How do you know about all of this?"
"Well my daddy always tells me about you guys, how you're all glittery and silvery, you're all super pretty..."
Lettie continued to name multiple things about the hunters to a very shocked Artemis and the just as shocked hunt behind her.
"...how you have to swear off boys and also you can shoot bows. My daddy taught me how to shoot a bow, he told me that it would be good for me to join you guys. He always told me that he wanted me to join the hunt as you're all really cool and will look after me once my mummy dies."
Then a wave of sadness flooded through the hunt.
"Lettie... what happened to your mummy."
Lettie cried softly and started sobbing,
"She was very sick, daddy tried to help because he is a doctor, but he told me that there were rules that wouldn't let him. But he helped her for a long time, but a week ago she died and now I miss her."
Artemis held the young girl in her arms while all of the hunters looked solemn, knowing how hard it must have been for the young girl.
She turned to Lettie, still holding her.
"Lettie, its okay. You can have a home here. We'll all look after you."
She immediately lit up.
"You will? All of you?"
Artemis and the hunters all smiled.
"Of course we will, right girls?"
They all nodded, smiling at the young girl who was about to light up the camp.
Lettie squealed and hugged each and every single one of the hunters. Then ran back to Artemis.
"Will I be able to see my daddy? I haven't seen him since mummy died, which is weird because he is around a lot usually."
Artemis stiffened up. While this girl was sweet and adorable, and a blessing to the hunt. There was one thing that bothered her a lot.
Apollo seemed to spend a lot of time with her, which was very much against the laws.
"Why don't you go with the hunters and they'll show you around and introduce themselves to you."
Lettie immediately ran off to the hunters forgetting to get an answer to her question.
Artemis tapped into some of her moon powers and bounced some moonlight off of a rock to create a misty sort of screen.
"Iris, show me Apollo."
The mist revealed her brother. He was pacing in his temple, looking nervous. His hair was scruffy and his clothes were crumpled.
He's never like this, my brother is far too egotistical to not try to look good. Something is wrong.
"Apollo."
He immediately looked up and jumped to the iris message."
"Artemis! Is she okay? Is Lettie okay? Is she safe?"
Apollo was obviously worried, there was panic in his voice as he rushed his words.
"We have her but we need to talk..."
"MUM!"
Both Artemis and Apollo turned to the noise where Percy was running from the camp with something in his arms.
Or someone...
"Percy what happened? Is Thalia okay?"
He stopped running after reaching Artemis.
Percy shook his head.
"She has a broken arm and has some deep scratches from the gorgon. I've managed to set the arm but we need Apollo."
Artemis now noticed the makeshift brace that he had used for her arm as he turned towards the iris message.
"Apollo do you think you could come and help her."
The message dissipated.
"I'm here."
They both turned and Apollo was stood outside of a medical tent that definitely wasn't there before.
"Bring her in."
They all entered the tent.
"Lay her on the table, then as you know basic first aid I need you to grab me ambrosia, nectar and bandages please Perce."
Percy laid her on the table, nodded and went to the supply cupboard in the tent.
"Percy what happened?"
Artemis asked worried.
"We were fighting the gorgons and Thalia was knocked to the ground by something. I didn't see but then the gorgon broke her arm and got some major scratches in with her claws, but then I used Apollo's blessing and managed to blind the gorgons so I killed the one attacking Thalia with riptide then discovered I had a new sword."
He said as he gestured to his necklace as he handed the supplies to Apollo as he went to work on healing Thalia.
The twins nodded,
"We'll talk more about the fight later, but Apollo..."
He flinched,
"We need to talk about Lettie."
Apollo sighed as he worked on creating a nectar and ambrosia paste.
"Okay i'll explain. I met Lettie's mother 9 years ago. Her name was Rachel. I was out with Hermes and we were at a bar. She saw right through the mist, and could tell there was something different about us. I tried to flirt with her but she was resisting me, but she didn't reject me. I went back to the same bar every day for a month. Eventually, she agreed to go out with me. We dated for a year and..."
He paused for a second, shook his head then proceeded to rub the paste into all of Thalia's cuts.
"I fell in love with her."
Both Artemis and Percy were shocked, this had never happened to Apollo. He was always having one night stands and having loads of demigods. But to here that he'd fallen in love...
"Rachel was amazing, and I was honest with her about anything. She saw through the mist so she knew I wasn't lying. But she didn't treat me any differently. She treated me like we were equal. And I loved her for it."
He worked bandages around all of Thalia's cuts.
"Then she fell pregnant, and we were so so happy. She had the baby and as you know as soon as that happens, us gods have to get up and leave. But... I didn't. I loved her, and wanted to stay with her and Lettie. Be a family."
He then finally started creating a cast for Thalia's arm.
"Then the punishment happened. But of course it wasn't for me. Oh no. It never is... Rachel fell terminally ill. The doctors couldn't identify what it was. And neither could I. She was going to die."
Artemis noticed a slight tear forming in his eye.
"But I couldn't let her. So I used my power, and it allowed her to live for another 7 years. For 7 years, we were a family. I continued to go against the laws, because I loved Rachel and Lettie so much. But I knew it was only a matter of time before the worst would happen. So I told Lettie all about you. All about everything."
He finished on Thalia and looked up at his twin sister.
"I told her all about her cool Auntie Artemis. All about the hunt. About all the greek stories and how they were all real. I told her bedtime stories all about it. I was honest, because I was I knew that I would do anything to protect her and make sure that she is safe. And that included telling her that one day I wanted her to join you. Then... Rachel died, and the monsters started to attack. So I guided her here, I wanted her to have a family. I love her Artemis, I cant lose her, not like I lost her mother."
Apollo looked down, hiding the tears that were silently falling down his face.
Percy and Artemis were shocked. Not only at the story, but also how emotional Apollo was. He really loved Rachel, and obviously Lettie as well.
So Artemis did what any sister would do.
She hugged him.
And he hugged her back. For the first time in thousands of years, the twins embraced and showed that they were there for each other. No matter what. They always will be.
They separated and Apollo wiped the tears from his eyes.
"Please look after my little girl, keep her safe."
He looked imploringly at both of them.
"Of course we will brother, I'm going to look after my little niece."
The twins shared a genuine smile.
"Thank you sis."
He turned to Percy,
"Will you as well?"
Percy chuckled lightly,
"Of course I will, I've always wanted a cousin."
Apollo smiled and let out a little laugh.
"She is in the best hands then."
But then he smiled sadly,
"Before she joins the hunt, I'm going to go and say goodbye because I understand I wont be able to see her much more after that."
Apollo headed towards the door.
"Apollo wait!"
He turned towards his sister.
"Go and say hello and comfort your daughter. No goodbyes will be said, you're always going to be able to see her. Come and visit her whenever, i'm sure that you'd both like seeing each other, and I wouldn't mind spending some family time with my niece and my brother."
Apollo smiled softly and genuinely.
Then stepped out of the tent to go and see his daughter leaving Percy and Artemis next to a resting Thalia.
Artemis had a gentle smile on her face.
"Mum what is it?"
Percy asked softly noticing her face.
"I missed my brother. We used to be very close, back in the ancient Greece days. But then he became a misogynistic playboy. I've missed him for thousands of years and for the first time since, I feel like I've got my brother back."
Percy hugged his mum and she hugged him back.
Both of them feeling at home for the first time in a while.
Hey guys, hope you enjoyed that chapter. It was different I know. But I hope that it was good. One more chapter after this then we'll get onto the 3 month 3 chapter journey to camp Jupiter. I know that I've added another chapter in between, but I think that it is going to be needed. So hope you enjoyed.
Also this is my first 2000 word chapter. And potentially the first of many.
So until next time.
Adios me amigos.
