Sup, another chapter. I cant be bothered to make up and excuse. I'm lazy and couldnt be bothered to write a chapter, but enjoy this one anyway.
Dear Diary,
I know, I've started writing a diary. Apollo recommended it too me after we finished my training. He said it really provides you with insight for if someone ever wants to know something about you. So its been a good month, my training with Vesta has been going incredibly. Turns out she has quite a few powers and is a really good teacher. She was firm when she needed but so encouraging and you couldnt help but feel hopeful that you'd learn.
So Percy ive taught you about summoning home cooked meals and now im going to teach you about fire use. Unlike Hephaestus who is technically a fire user, I am the goddess of fire so I have the ultimate control over it. You are able to produce it, control it and also manipulate most forms of fire.
"Sick" Percy said smiling,
Vesta looked at him with a look of disappointment.
"I know you're excited Percy but you must be careful, I am still a peaceful goddess and would rather you not celebrate violence. I am only teaching this because I know of the hardships you will have in the future. That prophecy, the next 'great prophecy' will once again fall on your shoulders."
Percy sighed, "I suppose at least this time it is not promising my death."
Then Percy remembered the line 'a flaw to keep till the final breath'
"Nevermind" He muttered.
Vesta understood his feelings and pulled him into a deep hug, hope immediately filling him with hope.
"Damn auntie you are going to have to teach me how to do that" he said pulling away.
She chuckled,
"That is not something I can teach, I can safely tell you that it is going to come in handy for you one day, and that is when you will learn how to do it."
He sighed but understood.
"Fine but can you please teach me fire now."
It was Vestas turn to sigh,
"Fine but only because you've been sooooo patient" She said sarcastically.
Percy chuckled and they started training.
Since then I've had excelled, and now i can produce fire and direct it, but manipulating its heat and the more complex part of the fire I am still struggling with but I'll get there.
Well I see mum walking over for my archery lesson so I guess I better sign this off.
Percy put the diary down and jumped off the rock he was perched on with the grace of a hunter.
"Hi mum."
Percy gave his mum a smile which she returned before flashing them to the archery range where this time they had an audience.
Everyone of the hunters were in the stands, and the front row was Tara, Pheobe, Thalia and Lettie (who Percy gave a small wave to), all sharing a bucket of popcorn and then 3 gods flashed in then created and sat in temporary thrones next to the bench. It was Vesta, Apollo and Hades. Vesta drinking a hot chocolate to keep herself warm in the forest while Hades and Apollo had their own personal snacks.
Great everyone is here to laugh at me Percy thought.
"Mum, why is everyone here?"
"Well Percy you've come a long way in two months, from nearly killing your own immortal mother to now being able to hit the targets that you intended. So I thought since you are so eager to train your other powers you've inherited from me, I've decided to try something different."
Diana summoned three targets that looked like the ones from the Olympics with the points.
"So son, you've got three shots and three targets, all you have to do is get 25 points and then you've passed archery at an acceptable level."
Percy pondered,
"But you still havent answered why everyone is here?"
Diana smirked,
"Well i've given you an easy amount of points to get, so I've got to make it difficult for you somehow."
She clapped her hands and there was an uproar from the hunters. There was booing, shield smacking and any sort of noise you can imagine.
Hades 'The silent one' cringed at the sound but Percy just smiled.
"I get to learn my new powers soon'
Diana was miffed by his cockiness.
"Stop being so cocky, and get on with it Perseus."
Uh oh Percy thought She was angered by the smugness, time to make it worse.
He twisted the ring on his hand, and a beuatiful silver bow appeared. It had the markings of the symbols of his patrons and produced an arrow every time he pulled the string back. It was a belated birthday present from his mother that she gave him once he found he wasnt getting along with the normal hunter bows.
Percy stepped into position and got into the right position, one he'd received many bruises to try and perfect from bow hits.
He took a deep breath, ignoring the multitude of noise and pulled the string back on his bow.
He stared down the shaft of the bow and released the arrow.
It flew towards the target.
And hit just outside the bullseye.
A solid 9 points.
He turned towards the crowd and bowed while they continued booing.
"See mum, I can be cocky, I didn't even need to cheat this time." He goaded referring to the time a couple weeks ago where Diana had thought he'd hit the bullseye for the first time until she noted the water where the arrow had hit the target and realised Percy had used the moisture in the air to influence the direction of the arrow.
Diana glared at her son and gestured for him to turn back to the target.
25 points should be easy. He thought pulling back the string once again.
However this time it did not go so well.
When he was about to release the moon took this convenient time to become brighter and flash some some light right across his face causing him to miss and get a low score of 6.
He turned and now it was his time to glare at his mother who was grinning while the crowds cheered around them.
"Well Percy that teaches you for being cocky and now you have to hit a ten to win."
Percy's face dropped realising his situation. He still had never hit a bullseye.
He gritted his teeth and turned back to the target determined to win.
As he pulled back the string, he narrowed his eyes as the cheers turned to boos to try and put him off.
Percy had conisdered cheating but decided against it, he was going to get this shot and it was going to be perfect.
He took another deep breath and stretched his powers to feel the air around him, he used Athena's blessing to calculate where to shoot the arrow in tandem with focusing on the wind speed.
He pointed his bow slightly to the left of the target.
And released it.
The arrow flew through the air.
Everyone thought it was going to miss until the wind started to catch its flight.
And the arrow thudded into the bullseye.
Now everyone started to cheer, Percy turned ecstatic, glad that he had finally done it and embraced his mother.
This was the first moment where Percy had forgotten about the betrayals and the deaths from a few months ago. The first time Sally and Paul's deaths werent on his mind. He was really happy. That was of course, until something had to come along and ruin it as it always does.
There you go, small cliff hanger. So hopefully I actually post a new chapter soon. But yeah, review, tell me if the story is bad or tell me if its good(preferably the latter.)
Ill hopefully update soon, but no guarantees.
Au revoir.
