Chapter 8-A fight

Shane's P.O.V

Everybody besides Carol, Lori, Miranda and the kids stood inside of one of the cabins. Lori had taken Carol to another one as Miranda watched the kids. "She killed him," Travis says.

"What's the problem with that?" Merle asks from the back. "The guy was an asshole, so am I but I don't beat women and look at my daughter the way that sick fuck did. The truth is, one of us was going to kill him, probably after he killed Carol or Sophia. Now's he's dead and Carol and Sophia are alive. Take your wins," Merle says before he leaves the cabin.

"I never thought I would say it, but Merle's right," Madison says. "Ed was dangerous and at some point he would have killed Carol or Sophia."

"We all feel that way, but who knows how Carol is feeling," Travis says.

"We'll help her, but at some point, she will realize this was for the best," Madison answers.

"What do we do with the body?" Dale asks.

"Burn it, or bury it," Daryl says. "I would burn the fucker."

"Let's ask, Carol," Shane offers. "It's her husband."

Carol's P.O.V

Carol sat on a bed staring at the ground. She knew Lori was beside her with her hand on her back. "Carol," Lori says softly.

"I've prayed for him to die," Carol says. "I hated him, for what he did for me, for the way he looked at Sophia. He was a horrible man, but I never thought…I never thought I would kill him."

"He would have killed you at some point, Carol," Lori says. "The next few weeks are going to be hard, coming to terms with what you did. But it was for the best."

Carol doesn't say anything as the door opens and Shane walks in. He walks up to Carol and bends down. "Carol…I know you're going through a lot right now, but we need to know what you want us to do with the body, we can't leave it in the tent," Shane says softly.

"Burn him," Carol says softly. Shane nods as he stands up and leaves the room. "I want to see Sophia."

"I'll go get her," Lori says. She stands up and leaves the room. A couple minutes the door opens Sophia walks in. Carol looks at her daughter as tears swell up in her eyes.

"Sophia—" Sophia runs up to her mother and hugs her.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl and Glenn set Ed on the ground as Daryl grabs a gas can and pours it onto Ed's body. "You got the matches?" Daryl asks Glenn who nods as he hands him the pack.

"He's a human being," Glenn says.

"Think of it like we're cremating him," Daryl says as he throws a match on his body. "Besides, that piece of shit ain't human. He's just as bad as the dead."

Glenn nods as they watch the body burn.

1 month later

Glenn's P.O.V

Glenn opened his eyes and looked around his tent. Daryl's sleeping bag was empty. T-dog had started sharing a tent with Jim so Daryl could sleep in a tent. Glenn sighs as he gets up and grabs his shoes and hat. He opens the tent and walks out. He looks at Daryl as he walked up to him with a string of rabbits. "You strike out again, today?" Glenn asks him.

"Yep," Daryl says as he sets his crossbow. "Same thing everyday, either get me back my drugs or admit that he's right. He's got plenty of fucking pills in that bag on his bike," Daryl says as Nick walks past them.

"Let's go eat," Glenn says as they walk up towards the group. They get up to the fire as Lori and Miranda make breakfast.

"Good morning," Lori says.

"Good morning," Glenn says as Daryl just nods. "Where are the others?"

"Some are still sleeping. Dale just finished up his watch," Lori tells them. "What are you two up to today?"

"Something stupid," Daryl says. "This idiot wants to go back to Atlanta."

"Thanks," Glenn says.

"Why?" Lori asks.

"We're been picking off supplies from around here but those won't last forever. We should be branching out further while we have the fuel, so Daryl and I are going to head to the city and see what we can get."

"That is stupid," Shane says as he walks up to them. "But let's do that tomorrow. I need Daryl for something else."

"Whatever you need, boss," Daryl says sarcastically.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?"

Nick's P.O.V

A few moments ago

Nick walked up through the camp after pasting Daryl and Glenn. He walked towards Merle's tent. He looked at the tent and didn't see any movement. He walks over to Merle's bike and opens the bag on the side. He puts the bag on the ground. "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" Merle shouts at him as he walks up behind him with his gun drawn.

"I didn't—" Merle hits him in the side of the head with pistol. "You trying to steal from me?" Merle asks as he points the gun at him. "Huh boy?" Merle asks before he hits him again. Merle is then tackled to the ground dropping the gun. He pushes Travis off of him and starts to stand. Travis gets up faster and punches him in the face. Nick sees Shane, Daryl, Glenn, and Lori running towards them. Travis starts to beat the older Dixon brother. Travis punches him in the face. He grabs Merle by his shirt and punches him again as he throws him to the ground and kicks his leg hitting it. A crack is heard as Travis continues to kick the older Dixon brother.

"Man stop," Daryl says as he comes up to Travis and grabs his arm. Travis swings his first back and punches Daryl in the face sending him on his back.

"Travis," Shane says as he grabs him and Glenn and T-dog join him in grabbing him and pulling him away. "Calm down, man," Shane says. Travis stops struggling as Madison goes over to Nick.

Daryl stands up and goes over to Merle. Shane let's go off Travis and walks out of him. "You're out."

Daryl looks at him. "What the fuck are you talking about? Your friend beat the fuck out of him!"

"He aimed his gun at Nick! Hit him with a pistol!" Shane shouts at him. "Pack up you're shit and get the hell out of my camp!"

"You can't kick them out," Amy says.

"Every calm down," Dale says. "We don't know the full story yet, let's get Merle to his tent. Get Nick up to the R.V."

Shane and Daryl glare at each other as Glenn comes over to him. "Come on, man," Glenn says as he lays his hand on Daryl's shoulder making the redneck look at him. Daryl nods.

"I don't want his help," Merle says, his voice hoarse.

"You need it," Daryl says as they help Merle up. He tries to take a step and his left leg bends as he starts to fall. Daryl and Glenn hold him.

"Looks like a broken leg," Madison says from where she stood beside Nick. Daryl doesn't say anything as he and Glenn continue to help Merle get to his tent. Amy looks at Shane.

"They aren't leaving," She says before she walks away.

Shane's P.O.V

Shane, Dale, Madison, Nick, Andrea, Lori, Amy, Alicia, David, Travis, and Morales stood by the R.V. as Madison wrapped Travis's hand. "What are we going to do with them?" Shane asks.

"What the hell do you mean, what are we going to do here, you're acting like Merle just beat the shit out of him for no reason. Nick was trying to steal from him. Maybe you should be blaming Travis and Madison for not be able to control their junkie son," Amy growls making Madison and Travis look at her.

"Watch your mouth."

"You know I'm right, this happened because he can't keep his shit under control."

"It doesn't matter, they are leaving. I'll force them out if I have too," Shane says. "This is—"

"This isn't your camp," Amy says. "Who the hell said you were in charge, you're not. We can make our own fucking decisions and you don't get to decide if we sent Daryl and Merle out there. That is a choice we all get to make and I say we don't."

"I agree," Dale says making Shane look at him. "Daryl's a good guy. Merle also has a broken leg, sending them out there would be signing their death sentence. This isn't all Merle's fault. We may have handled it wrong, but Nick shouldn't have been going through his bag. Daryl and Merle have also been providing meat for this camp for a month."

"They aren't leaving," Glenn says as he walks up to them. "You made them leave and I'll go too. I'll make sure Daryl has someone covering his back."

"I shouldn't have done it," Nick says making them all look at him. "Daryl and Merle didn't do this. That was me," Nick says before he walks away.

"It sounds like a decision has been made," Amy says. "They aren't going anywhere, try and make them and you'll go through me." Shane glares at the blond. "Dale where are your buckets."

"Closet," Dale tells Amy who nods as she pushes past him and walks into the R.V followed by Glenn.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl put a pillow under Merle's leg as his brother breathed heavily. "I'm gonna kill that bastard," Merle says.

"We need to clean your face up," Daryl says.

"We better start packing baby brother, you heard 'em. They're gonna kick our assholes out."

"We ain't going anywhere," Daryl says as Amy walks up to the tent holding a bucket of water.

"Can I come in?" Daryl nods as she climbs into the tent and hands Daryl a rag as she sets the bucket down.

"Why don't you give me a kiss before they kick us out?" Merle asks before coughing.

"You're a dick. You guys aren't leaving. Glenn, Dale and I talked him out of it and if he tries again he'll have to go through us."

"Our heroes," Merle says.

"How about a thank you," Amy says as Daryl begins to wipe the blood off Merle. "Glenn is looking for some painkillers and supplies to make a cast."

"Thanks," Daryl says and Amy nods as Andrea walks down to the tent. "Dale found some painkillers," she says as she holds them out to Daryl. "Have fun, Merle."

"Go fuck yourself," Merle says as Andrea walks away.

"Let's get him cleaned up."

Shane's P.O.V

Shane looked at Glenn was he walked out of the R.V. "What the hell was that?"

"You were being an asshole, Shane," Glenn says. "Amy's right, you're not in charge, we made decisions together and from where I stand, you got the Clark's and Lori. Regardless of if you wanna admit it, Daryl and Merle have been feeding this camp and we need them," Glenn growls. "I imagine Daryl won't be able to do that run to Atlanta tomorrow. If he isn't, I'll take Amy," Glenn says before he walks away from Shane who looks at Travis who was walking up to him.

"Can you believe this shit?" Shane asks.

"Merle overreacted but Nick shouldn't have been in his stuff. As much as I would like to get rid of Merle. Daryl isn't a bad guy and we do need them. So for now we just keep an eye on them. We also can't sent Merle out there with a broken leg," Travis says and Shane slowly nods as he walks away.

Merle's P.O.V

Merle opened his eyes and looked around the tent. It was dark, he looked at Daryl who was sleeping on the other side of the tent. "Maybe I was wrong about your friends, baby brother," Merle says as he lays his head back down.

Thanks for reading. Next chapter Glenn goes to Atlanta, Merle deals with being on bed rest and Shane tries to get rid of the Dixons. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
