3rd P.O.V

Suffice to say that Shishiki's first night camping out in the forest considering her luck was...decent. She had found a cave that was unoccupied and fortunately wasn't too far from the shops. Granted she still had to make a couple trips back and forth to bring her bags but overall it wasn't too bad.

Though despite the slight positives in this crappy situation, the student to be couldn't wait to have an actual bed to sleep in without bug pokemon invading her personal space. Her back was also killing her due to the hard ground.

Probably would've been worse if she didn't have the sleeping bag that came with the camping gear she bought. "It's a new day Labunni. Hopefully we can make it the best one we've had yet." Her buneary bounces all around her, ready to tackle anything that comes their way.

But then a thought dawns on her as she rummages through her bag. "Oh yeah. We got a new friend added to our ranks." With a small smile Shishiki grabs a specific premier ball. "Come on out bonsly." Within a flash of light comes out the little rock type.

It started bouncing up and down with tears in its eyes for a moment before checking out the cave. Though it sounded happy...the tears leaking from its eyes was making her worry. "Let's see, pokedex entry for bonsly...let's see what pops up."

With the absol popping up out of nowhere and just her eagerness to go meet Jordan she hadn't gotten the chance to officially read it. She didn't even know the gender of it. Something that seriously needed to be rectified.

Bonsly; the bonsai pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Sudowoodo. It discharges moisture from its eyes, making it look like it's crying. Bonsly tend to prefer an arid atmosphere. Otherwise these pokemon could die when exposed to too much moisture.

"Well...that's interesting. So what's a little guy like you doing in a forest?" At least it wasn't crying from sadness. Shishiki wasn't sure if she could handle seeing it cry twenty-four seven. Though she's not sure if those tears actually being sweat was a better alternative.

Still what the heck was a rock type that usually lives in deserts doing in such a lively, damp forest? A series of gurgles echo within the cave, reminding Shishiki as to why she woke up(other then dealing with her back killing her) Yawning, the student goes through her bags, frowning at her supplies. "Alright guys, eat up!"

They would last her and her pokemon if she rationed right a couple days max. Enough to where if some sort of deity took pity on her, she can properly get settled in her dorm. But that wasn't her biggest issue right now. As much as she wished she could still make it top priority, that Finnagan fellow said he would handle it.

And finding classes Should be her next problem to tackle, it wasn't, especially since the teachers would have at least some mercy on the first years. Shishiki could (unfortunately) hold off on that. Currently her newest issue was the fact that she was low on cash and food.

Her parents had helped her save up her earnings from working part time for her grandparent's herbal shop with the promise to send out a certain amount every month or so she had spending money for things like food while at school...

However the last few days have not been going according to plan. And there was no way she was going to call them up just so they could send more. The same applied to her friend. Even though Jordan told her to come to him for any issues, she wasn't going to keep relying on his kindness.

If anything she owed him big time! He's done far more than he should've. No, she had to do this herself. If she had any hopes of surviving, she had to figure something out and she was going to do it on her own. "Still...what to do?" An idea comes to her as went through her school book and pokemap.

Her gaze landing on the foldable fishing pole that she took out when going through her bag a few moments ago. "Is there a lake nearby?" Her two pokecompanions at this point were done eating and decided to approach their master while she checked out the area she was in.

"Oof!" Her bonsly and buneary climbed onto her lap, curious to see what she was doing. Smiling softly she runs a hand over both of their heads before narrowing her eyes. "Looks like we got a couple spots to choose from." There were three bodies of water near her little cave. All not too far walking distance.

A small lake to the north, a swamp based area in the south...and the beach near the east. All three sections were probably filled to the brim with pokemon and trainers. "Let's head to the beach." If she was lucky she could catch some pokemon that could be added to her team...and if not well it meant she had more food.

Standing up, she returns her pokemon before collecting her bag. After making sure she grabbed basic fishing kit that was in her camping gear and rod she heads out into the forest. "I got fifteen premier balls, best make good use of them."

Back where she lived often times her grandfather and her would go fishing on one of his old rowboats to do some trading in town. She wouldn't say she was a master fisherwoman or anything, but she'd like to say she knew a thing or two. It helped that she also had her grandmother's scented salve to put on her bait.

"Hopefully the sea salt pokemon like it as much as the freshwater ones from back home." Much to her surprise(and disappointment) the beach was packed with people fishing. Yeah she expected people to be there since it WAS a beach, but not a ton of fishermen.

She blinked at the number of lines out in the water and sighed. Of course. She should've known better than to get her hopes up. Just as she was about to turn around to try one of the other places on her map someone calls out. "Hey? You alright there?"

Looking up she see's one of the guys waving her over. "Yeah, I was planning to fish..." A smile forms on the boy's face as he takes in her rod. "You got yourself a good one. Come on over~ We got plenty of room for a fellow fish enthusiast." Shishiki...doesn't make further comment as she does as she's told.

Instead she goes onto her knees as she places her things on the ground. Setting up her rod in silence. "You gotta name miss?" A hum escapes her as she carefully works on her hook. "Shishiki. You?" Though her attention is on prepping her rod, she sees him from the corner of her eye.

"I'm Gail. The president of the Crimson Carvanha's fishing club~" With furrowed brows she gives him a glance noting how happy he seemed. "I thought clubs don't start till after a month of classes." Did she read the book wrong?

A couple of the people around her chuckle, but otherwise remain quiet so their head honcho can explain. "That's the case for first years. You gotta join at least one club after getting settled in. All of us are at least second year students though."

That...made sense now that she thought about it. She was just starting to coat her plastic luvdisc bait with her grandmother's salve when she felt someone pat her roughly on the back. "We don't mind sharing, but note this is our club territory newbie!~ " Questions now formed to take the previously asked one's place.

"Territories?" Another male piped up as he reeled in a corsola. Grinning as the little water/rock type puffed its cheeks in frustration. He takes a moment before realizing that Shishiki was waiting for his response.

"Oh yeah. This is a huge school, and a lot of clubs form rivalries with one another. There's like three other fishing clubs that like to butt heads with us. So every year we do tournaments to decide who gets dibs on what spot. We won this section last semester."

It did mention in her book that one of the reasons it was considered infamous was due to the strong constant competitions between students. She could see why battling for different sections of the school was important and it was kinda cool.

But right now she was more focused on making sure she caught something decent. "What's that stuff you're putting on the line?" Instead of answering Gail, Shishiki simply throws her cast, deciding to bring out her two pokemon while plopping her butt on the ground.

"A secret family trick. Let's just hope it works-" She just barely finished her sentence when she felt a harsh pull on her rod. "Whoa!" With a grunt Shishiki pulls, tugging the line as she quickly reels in her catch.

Gail, alongside a couple of his fellow club members watch with amazement as the pokemon leaps out of the water. "Hey look-the newbie got herself a basculin!" Eyes were on the newcomer as she sends out her buneary. "Labunni! Let's go-quick attack!"

At this point the duo were well prepared for anything that came their way. The basculine within a few turns was defeated and caught. Immediately she pulls out her pokedex, humming a random tune before letting the encyclopedic machine give her a description of the newly caught fish.

Basculin the hostile pokemon-red version. As the name implies these fish are violent. Attacking anything that is weaker then it, but more so often than now fights most with its blue striped counterpart. Though these pokemon are considered remarkably tasty-red stripes are more fatty than the blue ones.

"Perfect~" The boys around her were impressed with her skills, only to get excited when she casted her line again. "You-you're going to keep fishing?" Tilting her head Shishiki frowned in confusion. "Yeah...I just got here. I figured i'd do a few catches before lea-VING!?" It happened again.

Not even a few minutes before the girl felt a harsh tug on her rod-this time nearly sending her into the water. "Oh no you don't!" Out comes a krabby this time, it pinching it's claws menacingly. "Labunni quick attack it before it snaps the line!" Her companion does as told.

Rushing right for the crustacean. This pokemon was a bit more difficult to take down without it running or fainting due to its higher defense but still, just like with the basculin the irritating krabby found itself at the mercy of Shishiki's premier ball.

Krabby the river crab pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Kingler. These pokemon can usually be found near the sea, squabbling over territory. Their pincers can often times break off during these battles but quickly grow back.

A sigh escapes the girl as she glares at the ball. It was way too soon for her to run at the risk of losing her bait or line. This was definitely going to be her lunch later on..."Hey uh-Shishiki?" Already she threw her cast again, acting as if she had all the time in the world. "Yes?"

Gail couldn't even get a word into his question before yet another pokemon. This time the tug was barely strong, with an expected teeny tiny wishy washy flying high into the sky-Shishiki not even bothering to send out her pokemon to battle it. It was a weak level too, not worth battling.

Wishy Washy the small fry pokemon. When in danger, these pokemon moisten their eyes, causing them to shine in the sunlight to attract their school for aid. On their own though these pokemon are extremely weak as well as tasty, making them a popular pokemon to fish for.

"I'm going to need more of you..." She has had wishy washy in the past, her mother one day deciding to grill it, and as the pokedex statement said it was delicious. But, it wasn't going to be enough. Before she could send out her fishing lure again, a hand reached down towards her shoulder.

It wasn't Gail, but another gentleman. "Boys let's welcome our newest addition to the Crimson Carvanhas!" Shouts rang from all sides and the teen found herself surrounded by several (if not all) of the members of the fishing club. "Wait what?"

to be continued
