It still didn't feel real.
Their trip to Montana had been both stress-inducing and exhilarating, and she hadn't in a million years thought that it would end with them back together, in a bed, in love. Sure, there was still a lot that both of them needed to do - together as a couple, and individually, but overall, they were good. She'd woken up every morning since feeling like she needed to pinch herself, and with him sleeping soundly beside her.
They'd agreed to keep things private for the time being, not wanting to deal with twenty question from their co-workers (or from Catherine, in particular). As much as April had been grateful for how wonderful Catherine had been to her lately, she also knew that her ex-mother-in-law loved to meddle. That was the last thing they needed when they were still figuring things out themselves, trying to take one day at a time for the sake of their daughter.
Still, with how giddy April felt, it was hard not to share glances with her ex-husband-turned-boyfriend at work. They often found themselves smirking at one another and trying to share a moment when they could, and when prying eyes were too busy to focus on them. They'd agreed that they would no longer be hooking up at work, as they definitely (sort of) too mature for that, but on a day when Jackson looked particularly attractive whilst tending to patient, she found herself paging him and dragging into a nearby supply closet anyway.
"What happened to no hooking up at work, hmm?" He questioned, trying hard wipe the smirk off his face.
"Ssh, I'm allowed to change my mind," She responded quietly, lips meeting his and trying to move the both of them behind one of the tall shelving units. If they were going to do this, then they needed to at least be out of sight.
"Well I'm not complaining," He chuckled, hands meeting the edge of her scrub top and pulling it over her head. He discarded it on the floor, and his own top soon followed suit before their lips met again eagerly, her hands gripping the back of his neck.
Just as his hand reached around to unhook her bra, he heard the door open, and they both stilled in their movements, internally cursing themselves for not finding an on-call room instead. April lost her footing slightly, causing her to knock the unit and look at Jackson with an embarrassed facial expression.
"Who's there?" The voice of a familiar blonde questioned, and April breathed a sigh of relief knowing that was only Arizona. Sure, they weren't ready to tell anyone yet, but at least it wasn't Richard, or worse, Catherine.
The two of them fumbled around for their scrub tops, redressing themselves quickly, before Jackson scooted out from hiding first. "Uh, hey, I just came in for, uh...something."
Arizona narrowed her eyes at him, not feeling convinced that he was there for supplies. He looked like a kid who'd just been caught with their hand in the cookie jar. "Sure you're not hooking up with interns again? 'Cos I mean, I'm not one to judge, but it's not a good idea. Also, you live with April now so I feel like I'd kind of be obligated to tell her if that was the case."
"What? No! No. I'm not hooking up with interns," He frowned, rubbing the back of his neck before shooting April a look, his voice dropping to almost a whisper, "Help me out here, babe."
The redhead rolled her eyes, finally making her presence known and awkward waving at Arizona, "Uhm, no interns...at least I hope not. Just lil' old me."
Arizona's mouth dropped open, before beaming at her best friend, "Wait, really? What? When did this happen?!"
"A few weeks ago...but we're not ready to tell people yet so can you just pretend you didn't see us here?"
"Oh, of course, my lips are sealed, but I want all the details later. I'm happy for you guys. See, you had no reason to be crying over meeting your soulmate when you're 90 the last time we were here after all!"
"What was that?" Jackson questioned, looking between April and Arizona.
"Uh, nothing! We'll leave you to it, and thanks, Ari!" April responded, grabbing Jackson's wrist once again as they headed towards the supply closet door.
"I also want all the details about your 90-year-old soulmate later, you know," He whispered, grinning as she turned to swat him lightly.
