Jackson comforts April. Set during s10.
"I'm home!"
The sound of her husband's voice snapped April out of her head for a moment, forcing a soft smile in his direction as he shut the front door of their apartment and made his way over to the couch. Ever the intuitive person, his own smile soon faded as he sat down next to her, "Hey, what's wrong?"
"I just...people were gossiping at work today. About us, or well, me mostly. Or you, I guess, if you count the nurses who were wondering how soon they could try to jump you." April sighed, rubbing her palms together in her lap awkwardly.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. He knew all too well that people had been gossiping about the wedding crashing situation - particularly the interns, but they'd been handling it okay for the past week. Being in their own little marriage bubble had been so blissful, but he did hate having to lie to everyone at work. Jackson wanted the world to know that April was his wife, but she'd insisted that they wait a while as to lessen the blow to Stephanie and Matthew.
April inhaled deeply, feeling her anxiety creeping in, "They were...making fun of me. Saying how they didn't understand why anyone would do all that for me, 'The Dud', and how they couldn't wait to nurse your seemingly-broken heart." She couldn't help but roll her eyes when she'd heard that. She hated that it bothered her - that she was letting other people ruin her happiness, but sometimes, it was hard not to go back to feeling like that teenage Duckie, even if she wasn't the same person she'd been back then.
Jackson frowned, hand moving to tip her chin up so that she was looking at him, "Hey, listen to me. You're beautiful, smart, talented and kind. You're everything I want and more, okay? Those morons can piss off because I only want you, forever, and I get to have that. Its pretty amazing."
She couldn't help but melt at his words and touch, "You're really sweet when you want to be."
"Only for you," He replied honestly with a soft smile, "Anyway, name some names, babe. I can have their asses fired by the morning. Nobody talks shit about my wife."
April couldn't help but chuckle, "Okay, no need to go on a power trip, mister. I appreciate the sentiment though."
"Fine," He sighed, his hand moving down her arm and stroking her soft ivory skin, "I might know a way to make you feel better though..."
A devious smirk flashed across his face, and she knew instantly what he was thinking about as her eyes shone brightly, finding that she wanted the same thing. "Yeah?"
"Mhm hmm," He mumbled, his lips making his way to that spot on her neck that drove her crazy, "Probably best that I show you..."
The redhead moaned softly, and soon found herself being driven crazy by her husband and forgetting all about the events of the day.
