I've been wanting to do this since I started the RWBY reads Harry Potter series. Speaking of, I promise I'll have the next chapter of that out soon. With Covid starting to die down I've been getting more hours at my night job and my current roommates are moving out of state so I've been busy trying to find a new place. I also don't want to lose focus on my other works.
With all that said, please enjoy.

Arthur Weasley excitedly ran around Grimmauld Place. Not too excitedly, so as not to awaken the troublesome portraits. Still, he made it to his wife with only minimal trouble. The device he carried was small and compact, easily carried around quietly. Still, Arthur took extra precautions.
He found Molly organizing other bits of trash to be disposed of. She stood with Sirius and Harry, who were carrying out boxes of rubbish.
"Hey Molly, look at what I found!" Arthur cheered, holding up the Muggle device in delight.
Molly took a closer look at the device. She couldn't figure out what the thing was, exactly. At the very least, it looked similar to a radio. It'd been so long since she took Muggle Studies. Molly turned to Sirius. "Sirius, do you know anything about this?"
Sirius looked at it. His eyes widened when he realized what it was. He passed the box in his hands to Harry before rushing to Arthur's side. "Where did you find this?" He asked Arthur.
Arthur handed over the device to Sirius. The wizard moved the device around in delight. "One of the rooms upstairs, by your bedroom," Arthur answered.
Harry walked up to see what all the fuss was about. He lowered the boxes to the ground to get a closer look. "Hold on, is that a portable television?"
"It is!" Sirius cheered. He twisted and turned the metal box in his arms, smiling at it like long thought lost memories were returning.
"I didn't think your family would keep something so...Muggle," Harry admitted.
Sirius barked out a laugh. "They wouldn't! It's why I got it in the first place. Well that and-"
"Arthur stop fiddling with it!" Molly scolded, cutting Sirius off.
Arthur didn't listen to Molly. Instead, he pushed a button on the side.
"No, not that one!" Sirius warned. It came too late.
No sooner had Arthur pushed that button did the TV turn on. Instead of playing a local TV station, or perhaps even static, the TV screen lit up with a bright grayish glow. Worse than that, instead of the usual sounds of static, a loud voice came out from the TV's speakers.
"I HAVE AWAKENED!" The voice was young and childlike, definitely feminine and American. None of them could see a face on the screen to match it.
The yell nearly startled Sirius into dropping the TV. He held the mini- television to his chest.
The yell also caught the attention of the many other occupants in the house. First on the scene was Moody, looking around for any sign of an attack. After him, came Remus and Tonks. The teenagers came in last.
"What happened?" Moody shouted. "What got set off?"
"This." Sirius held up the TV. The grayish glow shined out towards the newcomers. "There's a button on the side. Arthur pressed it."
"Well, I'll be! Sirius Black, is that you?" The same voice from earlier asked. "Move my screen so I can see your face!"
Sirius did so. Many watchers wondered if this TV would be anything like the screaming portrait.
"Wow! You look different." The voice exclaimed. "Has it been a while?"
"Quite a while, actually. A few decades." Sirius answered with a less-than-amused eye roll.
"Decades?! You left me alone for decades?!" It yelled.
"I got busy!" Sirius excused, annoyed.
"Sirius?" Harry asked. "Why is the TV talking? How do you know it?"
"Did you bring more people around?" The TV asked. "Show me- show me!"
Sirius turned the TV in his hands again. Harry could see the screen again. Still, nothing showed on it. "I found it in Knockturn Alley during fifth-year summer. The owner said it was cursed but I thought it was just a gimmick, try to make it seem cooler. I was buying it anyway to piss off my mother." Sirius looked down at the TV. "Turns out they were right."
"So it's cursed?" Hermione asked. "How so?"
"I'm stuck inside the TV." The voice explained. "But that's more of how it's a curse for me. It's a different sort of curse for you."
"Sirius. What's wrong with it?" Moody asked with a growl.
A few minutes late to the party, Dumbledore walked in with Kingsley at his side. They'd been discussing information relevant to the Ministry and investigations about the Dark Lord.
"Is everyone alright?" Dumbledore asked.
"Yes. Arthur activated a cursed talking box-" Molly explained.
"A television." Sirius, Harry, and Hermione corrected.
"-but it's not doing anything harmful," Molly explained.
"I disagree," Kingsley replied.
"What's happened?" Moody asked.
"I tried to apparate out of here, return to the Ministry," Kingsley explained. "Only to find myself stuck. We tried the Floo and even the front door. Nothing."
"Really?" Molly asked.
"Yeah...that sounds right," Sirius replied.
"It's how my curse affects you." The TV explained.
Dumbledore and Kingsley stared at the TV in confusion. Arthur shrugged, apologetic.
"Until you watch everything in the series of movies or tv shows I've picked from beginning to end, the doors and windows lock. Time outside of the house stays at a standstill." The TV explained.
"You can't do that," Hermione argued. "What about our food and water?"
"That's no problem! My magic's strong enough to gather water and keep your fridge stocked." The TV explained.
"It's no joke. It made me watch all the episodes of Scooby-Doo before I was allowed to leave." Sirius explained. "Or anyone else in the house. Reggy and Kreacher were none too pleased."
"Here's a problem-" George began.
"-how can we watch the TV-" Fred went on.
"-when the TV is so small?" George finished.
"Oh, I can change my appearance to any type of screen." The TV answered. "This is just my default form. Just have Sirius put me in front of a big wall and I'll grow for you guys."
Dumbledore walked towards the stairs.
"Dumbledore?" Lupin asked. "Are you going to look in the Black library to break the curse?"
"Yes," Dumbledore replied.
Harry narrowed his eyes on the elder wizard. The headmaster had been avoiding Harry ever since his hearing. The whole thing stunk of something suspicious. It didn't help that Harry was angry at everyone lately, from his best friends to the other adults here. Sometimes, it felt like Sirius Black was the only adult by his side.
"I should return soon with some kind of information-" Dumbledore began.
"No way, Mr. Longbeard!" The TV yelled. Dumbledore tilted his head in surprise. "My curse isn't a pick-and-choose thing, it's for everyone here. So you have to watch this show with them. I have the perfect show in mind- you remind me of one of the characters! You'll love it- maybe even learn a few things from him."
Dumbledore hummed. "I have yet to see a cursed television like yourself. Can you really make me stay?"
"Can you really leave?" The TV countered. "Did you not try already?"
Dumbledore frowned. His beard sagged with it.
"Come on, Headmaster." Kingsley patted him on the back. "We already tried to leave. It's not like we have anything better to do now."
Dumbledore nodded. "I suppose then I shall stay."
"Let's move to the living room," Molly suggested. "It's a bigger space."
Sirius- still holding the portable TV- started walking that way.
"Don't drop me like you did last time!" The TV yelled.
Sirius clicked his tongue. "That wasn't my fault! Kreacher tripped me."
"Sure."
Hermione followed after Sirius. She walked by his side, eyeing the TV. "It's impossible. A spirit trapped in a TV? How could that happen?"
"I was trying to make it so everyone could watch a new show with me. It backfired." The TV explained.
Ron snorted. He elbowed Harry. "Obviously backfired, mate." He snorted. Harry chuckled with his friend. "Sounds like something Neville would do in potion class."
"Can we trust it?" Ginny asked. "I mean- Dad, you're always telling us not to trust a thing where we can't see its brain."
Arthur paused, thoughtful.
"It's alright," Sirius assured them all. He put the TV down by a large wall. "Roku isn't harmful, just a bit of a nuisance."
"Roku?" Ginny asked.
"It's my name." The TV answered. "I did have one before being a TV."
Sirius stepped back. The TV shifted. In another gray flash, the TV changed from a small box to a large flatscreen.
"Tada!" Roku shouted in amusement.
Dumbledore and Remus went about conjuring some sofas so everyone could have a seat. Molly went to the kitchen to make snacks. Fred and George sat with Ginny and Tonks. Sirius and Remus sat down, Harry took another spot. When Ron and Hermione tried to join, Harry glared. They ended up sitting with Arthur (and Molly, once she came back with snacks a few minutes later).
Dumbledore shared his couch with Kingsley and offered the spare spot to Moody.
Moody stomped over to Sirius. "What's it going to make us watch, then?"
Sirius shrugged as he plopped down in a seat. "No idea. Roku keeps it random. I watched Scooby with Reggy, and then it trapped the Potters and I so we could watch some show about America."
"You liked Hamilton, don't deny it!" Roku yelled.
"Yeah, but I wish you hadn't locked James and I in the house with his parents. They asked questions about the whole thing." Sirius complained. "Or let me make a record of the songs, they've been stuck in my head for decades."
"You used it twice?" Hermione asked.
"Well, I wanted to show James," Sirius explained. "It's just poor timing that his parents were home too. It paid off- but nothing any of us did could break the curses. I brought it home to see if my parents had anything about it when Kreacher tripped me. Next thing I know, Reggy and Kreacher are forced to watch a cartoon about a talking dog with me."
"Hey that part wasn't my idea when I got stuck in here," Roku argued. "It was supposed to be just my friends and I watching movies. How it turned into making the whole house watch, I have no idea."
"Then what's the show?" Ron asked. "Is it something fun- like Quidditch shows?" Hermione rolled her eyes. Harry perked up. He wouldn't mind a show like that.
"Oh, right, you should know that." Roku giggled, awkward. "I think you guys would get a kick out of this animated series called RWBY."
"Ruby?" Kingsley spoke up. "A show about gems, who would watch that?"
"No that's a different show." Roku corrected. "It's spelled R-W-B-Y. It's about- well you'll see it. I'll show you the trailers first."
Ron groaned. "Can't you just tell us what it's about?"
"And risk spoilers? No way!" Roku replied.
"Yeah Ronnikins-" Fred teased.
"-don't be a spoilsport." George finished.
Ron threw a pillow at their heads. The twins just laughed, dodging. Ginny got hit. She threw it back at Ron. It hit him in the face. Before he could make a return shot, Molly returned with snacks.
Roku waited a few minutes for everyone to get themselves something to snack on. Once everyone had what they wanted, the screen shifted. Instead of that gray glow, it showed a black screen.
"Now like I said, I'm showing you guys the trailers first," Roku explained. "It'll give you a lot of context for the show, and introduce the main characters. Everyone ready?"
Everyone nodded.
"Then let's get started!" Roku cheered.
A full moon is shown amidst falling snow and floating red petals.
"Wait, why are their petals if it's snowing?" Tonks wondered. Roku giggled.
"I'm loving the piano music here," Ginny said with a smile. "It's nice."
Red like roses fills my dream
and brings me to the place you rest
A small figure in a red cloak and hood is standing in front of an altar. Rose petals are spilling from the cloak. As the figure walks away the tombstone is shown. It reads: Summer Rose - Thus kindly I scatter.
"Oh that poor dear," Molly whispered sadly. "Is that her mother?"
"I think it is." Arthur agreed. He put an arm around his wife, comforting her.
White is cold and always yearning
The red-hooded figure walks through the snowy forest. Just then a shadowy figure dashes through the trees.
"Wait what was that?" Harry asked, spotting the creature.
"What was what?" Ron asked having missed it.
Burden by the royal test
The hooded figure continues walking as another shadow dashes overhead.
"That!" Harry cried out.
"I saw something too," Remus said looking concerned for the young girl.
Sirius ruffled Harry's hair. "Good eye, Prongslet."
"That young girl needs to be careful," Kingsley said, also concerned.
Meanwhile, Dumbledore was listening closely to the lyrics. What did it mean by royal test?
Black the beast descends from shadows
The figure comes to a clearing and finds herself surrounded by about a dozen wolf-like creatures.
"OH NO!" Everyone shouted.
"That kid's screwed!" Tonks screamed.
"Roku, what are you playing at showing us something like this?" Sirius demanded. "She's just a kid!"
"No, she's not," Roku replied. "Just watch her!"
The wizards paused at that. A little girl is gonna take down all that? How?
Yellow beauty burns-
Three of the wolves dash forward before jumping and swiping their claws at the figure but in a flash of rose petals, she'd vanished.
"Woah!" Ginny cried out.
"Where did she go?" Ron asked.
"How did she move so fast?" Moody wondered.
The wolves looked around in confusion before looking up to find the figure above them. Her hood was down to reveal the child to have a pale face, black hair with red tints, and striking silver eyes.
...Gold
In slow motion the girl reaches behind her, pulls out a rifle, and fires a shot, blowing a hole into one of the wolf's head.
"WHOA!" Everyone cried out in amazement.
"Little red's packing!" Sirius cheered.
"Is that one of those guns that muggles use?" Ron asked, turning to his two muggle-born/raised friends.
"Yes, but that looks more like a sniper rifle. They're meant for long-distance shots," Hermione explained.
"But she's a child, no older than Harry and his friends," Remus noted. "Children normally aren't meant to handle weapons unsupervised that young."
"Maybe this world makes an exception if there's a lot of these creatures on the loose," Tonks figured.
More of the wolves start to attack her as she lands. The girl leaps over the first wolf and shoots it in the back. While she's still in the air she shoots another one in its side and proceeds to get into position so that she can fire the third one dead center.
Moody nodded in approval. "That's good reflexes, she's got. It'll keep her alive against those things."
"Oh you've seen nothing yet," Roku said. Which only hypes up the younger people in the audience.
The girl rolls back onto her feet, unfolding the gun into a large scythe.
"I thought it was a gun-" Fred asked.
"-and now it's a scythe?" George asked.
"That just makes it even more dangerous!" Molly shouted, concerned for the child.
"Sill to be able to wield a weapon that large when she's so petite. It's rather impressive," Kingsley said.
One of the braver wolves dashes forward, but the girl merely spins and catches its body into the curve of her blade. With a smile she pulls the trigger, slicing the thing in two.
"Wicked!" Ron cried out.
The creature disintegrates into rose petals and the rest of the pack charges.
"What an interesting creature, I haven't seen anything like it before," Dumbledore noted.
"I'd like to learn more about what they are," Remus said.
Ron leaned back on the couch armrest, towards Harry. "You think Hagrid would want one as a pet?"
Hermione laughed in agreement. Harry just smiled. Now he wanted to own one to see how Malfoy would react to it.
The girl rotates the scythe, unloading the spent bullet, and drives the blade into the ground so that the rifle part of the weapon faces the wolves. She shoots the creatures one at a time until one gets close enough to sweep at her feet.
"Using the curve of the blade to stop the recoil," Sirius explained to the more confused purebloods.
The girl jumps on her weapon, barely avoiding the claws, and blasts back with the gunshot. She digs the gun into the ground to regain her footing as more emerge from the forest. Another one almost gets her with its claws but she twists out of the way and fires at the creature, making the weapon and wielder spin, and she kicks the one behind her.
At this point, Molly had her head in her hands. It didn't matter how good the girl was, these creatures keep on coming. Arthur kept rubbing her back to calm her down while the rest of the Weasleys, Harry, Hermione, and Tonks kept cheering.
The girl leaps over two more goes in and slices down one before catching another's neck in the blade of her scythe with her on the beast's back. She pulls the trigger and beheads it flying upward. Two more of these wolves follow her, but she shoots her way down and slices them up when she has to block from a wolf's swipe on the ground, which pushes her back and lets her see a large number of enemies left.
"Oh come on! How many of these are there?" Tonks yelled.
"She's gonna run out of ammunition at some point," Sirius realizes.
"She's made it this far. I'm sure she's gonna be okay," Harry said reassuringly.
Nodding, the girl drops her previous cartridge, inserts another one with a cross symbol on it.
"Oh never mind then," Sirius said, retracting his previous worry.
Loads it and blasts off at a higher speed than ever before, coming at the wolves which look at each other in confusion. She converts the scythe into a sickle shape and spins her way through the mass. Cutting up, down, left, right, leaving bullets, rose petals, and blackened body parts right through the air. She destroys them faster and faster until the last one falls and she sticks the landing in a pose with her scythe behind her. Shell casings raining down all around her.
Everyone was stunned for a moment. Finally, Tonks and Sirius jump up and cheer in joy for the kid.
"That was..." Ginny breathed in awe.
"Merlin, did you see how fast she tore those things apart?" Ron cheered.
"That was very entertaining," Dumbledore said. "But I don't see what was so important about it."
"This trailer was mainly to show off her skills," Roku explained. "The other trailers will be like this as well."
"Quick quick get started on the next one!" Fred and George demanded.
"Oh, I don't know if I can take another one. Not one like that." Molly said breathlessly.
"I wouldn't worry. If she could handle herself in that then these other girls must be just as strong," Arthur assured her.
"I am curious to see what these other girls will bring," Moody said. Kingsley nodding in agreement.
"And I want to learn more about these creatures," Remus said. "What are these things and where did they come from?"
"All will be answered in the coming videos," Roku assured.
"You said it was an introduction. It never said her name." Hermione pointed out.
"Oh her?" Roku replied. "That was Ruby Rose."
With that, the static disappeared to start the next video.
