The next trailer queued up.
"Alright this is known as the White Trailer." Roku announced.
The static once again changed into a black screen. White words appeared on screen.
Everyone is entitled to their own sorrow, for the heart has no metric or forms of measure. And all of it... irreplaceable.
The quote had a lot of them thinking. All of them thought about the War, the one before and the one to come.
Harry in particular thought about Cedric, and his cousin's taunts of Harry's nightmares. He thought about Voldemort's voice and "kill the spare" and Amos Diggory's reaction to seeing Cedric's body. Harry remembered the face of his parents, emerging from Voldemort's wand.
Older Order members remembered different things. Many thought about James and Lily, of life without them. Many thought about other loved ones lost in the previous war (Molly remembered her brothers, as Kingsley remembered old Auror friends that died in Death Eater raids). Sirius thought about the years lost in Azkaban. In the same vein, Remus thought about the twelve years he spent alone.
Ron looked over at Harry. He noticed that his friend balled his fists on his knee, curling them like he always did when frustrated. Ron may have the emotional range of a teaspoon, but he still knew his friend. Sure they blundered it by listening to Dumbledore- Harry was worse off for being left alone. It kept him safe, yeah, but so did those bars on the windows.
"This trailer is going to be depressing isn't it?" Ron figured.
Nobody disagreed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Weiss Schnee," A man announced over an intercom. As he spoke, an image appeared of a young woman under a spotlight.
"Weiss huh, that's a rather unique name," Remus Lupin noted.
"How do you even spell that?" Hermione asked.
"W-E-I-S-S." Roku answered. "S-C-H-N-E-E." Hermione nodded at the talking television.
Ginny leaned forward, grabbing a snack from the tray. "Why does her ponytail look like that? It doesn't look very comfortable."
"Maybe that's just how she wants it," Fred figured.
"Yeah, let her wear her hair how she wants, Gin." George shot back.
"Let her have fun, Gin." Fred added.
Ginny threw a pillow at their heads. They made out as very poor Bludgers- if Oliver Wood saw them, he would demand 24/7 Quidditch training to make up for the blunder (a step above from his usual 23/7 training, which allowed for a reasonable one hour of sleep).
The opening notes of a song began to play. Weiss scans the crowd around her. Some of them were taking pictures. She then closed her eyes and started to sing.
Mirror
Tell me something
Tell me who's the loneliest of all
"Yeah this is pretty sad." Harry nodded. He grabbed his own snack, idle biting it. "Ron's right."
"Thanks Ha-"
"Do you think it's sad, Sirius?" Harry asked.
Sirius smirked at his godson. "She's literally saying how asking who's the loneliest of all. Pretty sad, pup."
"She's got quite the voice though," Kingsley noted.
Hermione narrowed her eyes in thought. The song reminded her of something. Not the tune or the singer, more the words themselves. They weren't matching with the Mirror of Erised, what other mirror could it be...?
While she sings, the view sinks into her reflection on stage. As the world tilts she finds herself in another place. The lighting shifts to reveal a giant suit of armor with an equally massive broadsword knelt before her. The knight gets up, sword at the ready.
"Wait, what just happened?" Arthur asked.
"Where did the concert go?" Sirius wondered.
"It is a cartoon, it doesn't have to obey the laws of physics." Remus suggested to them. "Maybe this is all just...symbolism."
"Or a flashback." Tonks added. "She's thinking about that concert before...this."
"Point to Tonks," Roku said. "While it's never properly revealed, she did fight this armor to prove herself to her father."
"What kind of parent makes their child prove their worth?!" Molly screeched.
The twins looked at each other, rolling their eyes. Ron and Ginny looked at them. Not too closely, Fred and George were just next door neighbors. That's what they get for not being Prefects, after all.
"Actually, I personally think it was Weiss' idea." Roku explained, trying to reassure Molly. It did not work. Arthur had to step in with a hug to his wife.
Weiss unsheathes her rapier- with an added subtitle to let the wizards know it's name- Myrtenaster, and darts forward. The song continues in the background.
Mirror tell me something
Tell me who's the loneliest of all
Weiss manages to get a hit on her opponent before twirling away and landing. The Giant Armor swings again, only for Weiss to dash away and is able to land several hits on the creature.
"She's just as fast as that Ruby girl," Tonks clapped, cheering the girl on.
Moody nodded in approval. "With an enemy that big, her key points would be to strike small at the weak spots."
The armor attempts to retaliate when Weiss uppercuts into the air. It arcs it's sword around, but Weiss was able to bring up Myrtenaster in time to block it. Though it does knock her back a few feet. Once she slows down, the giant armor leaps up and swings its sword down on Weiss. She manages to dodge while the armor swings its sword at her again. It finally hits her blade again and she is knocked away until she rolls back on her feet.
Fear of what's inside me
Tell me can a heart be turned to stone?
Remus couldn't help but find himself relating to the song. As a werewolf, he constantly feared what was inside of him. The Marauders were a rare find of real friends with his conditions...though Tonks was also open to him despite his condition. The kids from his DADA year also lifted his spirits. "Wonder if Weiss will find the same?" He muttered to himself.
White energy gather's at Weiss's fingertips and she motions to the ground. A snowflake symbol appears at her feet which propels her forward at extreme speeds.
Everyone's eyes widened at the powers Weiss had just demonstrated.
"Quite amazing," Dumbledore said.
"Hey Roku, you didn't tell us people could use magic in this show!" Sirius said.
"Oh no, magic looks completely different. That was called a Semblance. They explain it more in the actual show, I've also got bonus videos I could show later if you guys are still curious!" Roku explained.
"I would like to see them." Hermione piped in.
Harry and Ron exchanged a look, both boys smiling. Harry quickly put away the smile to focus back on the screen.
The armor kept trying to slash at Weiss but she just kept disappearing and reappearing all around it, leaping through the air and using her glyphs to land a blow with each pass.
"Well she's got a good handle on that- Semblance, yes?- for sure." Kingsley noted.
"It looks like those glyphs are capable of affecting her momentum," Dumbledore reasoned.
"Looks like." Moody agreed. "It'll definitely help her in the fight."
After Weiss slashes it in the face, the armor was able to strike its fist across her head.
Everyone winced.
Weiss attempted to get back up. But it was weak and she seemed rather unsure.
"Come on, Weiss!" Ginny cheered.
"Yeah show that tincan who's boss!" Fred shouted.
"Let's go, Weiss!" George called out, cupping his hands over his mouth.
"Will you three settle down!" Molly ordered. "It's not like she can hear you."
Sirius just waved her off. "Come on Molly, let them have their fun."
The moon then shows itself as it emerges from a passing cloud, showering Weiss in light as she continues to sing with her eyes still closed. In the flashback, she stands back up eyeing the Giant Armor definitely. A small line of blood trails down the left side of her face.
Again, everyone winced.
"At least it wasn't too serious," Remus noted.
"Hopefully the fight ends soon so she can be treated." Hermione added.
"It's most likely going to leave a scar though," Moody noted. His magical eye blinked, darting about the room.
Weiss holds her sword up and spins the revolver that's in the hilt. The revolver stops and a red energy appears over the blade.
"Now what is this?" Arthur asked, impressed.
"Can muggle weapons do that?" Ron asked.
"No they can't," Harry answered dumbfounded. He thought he'd seen something like that in one of Dudley's many present piles. A lightsaver, or something. That was a Muggle pretend toy, though, not a real thing.
Hermonie looked down in thought. "It must be something unique to this world as well."
Roku piped in again. "It's too long a wait actually before the show says it. It's called Dust. Kind of an energy source in this world. People use it for all kinds of things."
"What sort of things?" Kingsley asked curiously.
"Okay that I'll let you learn on your own." Roku started the video back up.
The Giant Armor swings its sword on her, but it meets her rapier and, with help from the red dust, is deflected off.
Mirror Mirror what's behind you
Save me from the things I see
"Wow I almost forgot about the song," Ron said when the lyrics started up again.
"While the trailer isn't as depressing as we thought, this song is definitely personal," Harry remarked.
I can keep it from the world
Why won't you let me hide from me?
Weiss then switches up her sword and jabs it into the ground. A cyan light creates a wave of ice which freezes the Giant Armor in place.
"Woah!" Everyone cried out. Molly sighed in relief, falling on Arthur's side.
"Roku, you weren't kidding about this dust stuff," Sirius said, impressed.
Sirius thought about the sort of pranks one could do with that information. By Fred and George's grin, they were thinking the same (this may or may not have inspired some Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes products). Moody thought about one could use dust to fight Death Eaters.
It swings again, but Weiss runs forward and jumps on the sword. Her own now glowing a bright yellow. She rolls on the broadsword and slashes at her foe. The ice crystals are destroyed in shards of purple but the sword is now impaled on the ground.
"YES!" The twins and Tonks shouted.
"It's disarmed. Finish it, Weiss!" Moody shouted.
Weiss rotates the hilt again and a snowflake symbol appears under her when the Giant Armor tries to slam its fist down on her. Weiss just rolls out of the way and activates the glyph, launching the warrior up into the air and becoming trapped in Weiss' beams of blue energy.
Mirror Mirror tell me something
Who's the loneliest of all?
All the students in the room, Tonks, Lupin, and Sirius were on the edge of their seats. The remaining adults were watching with surprised amusement. Molly was peeking through her hands.
I'm the loneliest of all
With one final leap in the air, her real self singing the last lines of the song, Weiss' sword glows a bright white along with the markings and she descends onto the Giant Armor. With her attack done she lands in a crouch, the black hollows of the enemy light up and crash to the ground in a shower of ice and snow behind her.
Everyone burst into applause as the song ended.
"Very impressive," Kingsley praised.
"Indeed," Dumbledore agreed. "Both her fighting and her singing were stellar."
"Song was a bit of a downer but she has a good voice," Ron said.
"And the way she trashed that tin armor was just brilliant." Harry added.
Weiss opens her eyes to find herself back onstage to the cheer of the audience. She looks around in a slight daze before looking at a skylight showing the moon which was slightly shattered.
"What's wrong with the moon?" Moody asked.
"Is that going to be okay?" Ginny asked. "It's just...exploded."
Remus, Sirius, and Tonks were the first to think about how it would affect werewolves. What were changes like for werewolves in this place? Did they still have a full moon with it so broken?
Hermione thought about that too. Along with the many magical plants affected by full moonlight, and the many other magical creatures who are associated with moonlight. If she had the time, she would be diving into books to figure out those answers. It just left so many questions! "No doubt it would cause some gravitational and tide problems..."
"I don't see anyone worried," Kingsley noted. "Either it's always been like that or the people just got used to it."
"Hey Roku, you know what's up with that?" Harry asked the talking television.
"That's...an incredibly long story. You'll find out in volume 6," Roku said.
Everyone just shrugged. Roku started up the next trailer.
Constructive criticism is welcomed. Flames will be put out by my waterbending powers. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
Please follow to know when the next chapter comes out. Please favorite once it is done. And I will see you all in the next chapter.
Stay awesome!
