"And so the prince takes Snow White back to the palace and they live..." Hermione started but was finished by the Weasleys.
"Happily ever after," All four siblings groaned.
"Do all Muggle fairy tales end like that?" Ron asked, barely finished groaning.
"And why are so many of them about princesses getting saved by a prince or a knight?" Ginny wondered. "It's just repetitive."
"And seriously how did that grandmother survive getting eaten by a wolf?" George asked.
"She should have been dead before she even reached the stomach," Fred added. "Wolves can't swallow people whole."
"They have to chew at some point," George continued.
Hermione groaned. She leaned back against the couch. "It's a fairy tale. They aren't supposed to make sense! They're meant to teach children morals."
"What kind of moral is that? That wolves eat people whole?" Ginny asked.
Harry just shook his head. They weren't wrong. He never heard many of the magical fairytales, but he still knew of them. The morals were all confusing and, as Harry grew up to meet werewolves and wizards, mostly wrong.
As they walked down the hall, they found Sirius coming up the stairs that led to the boiler room. "You all finished?" he asked.
The others nodded and Ginny asked "What were you doing down there?"
Sirius checked behind him real quick before gesturing to the teens to come closer. When they huddled around him he whispered "I went to check on Kreacher. He went into hiding the minute he heard Roku's voice."
"Shouldn't he be watching the show with us though?" Hermione asks. "She did say that everyone has to watch."
"Not entirely. Just the people Roku actually sees. If she sees you then you're stuck watching something. But what she doesn't know won't hurt us. It was how my parents got out of watching Scooby-Doo the last time."
The others nodded and made their way back to the living room at the same time as the rest of the adults. "How did you like the Muggle stories?" Arthur asked.
"They were boring," Ginny complained.
"And rather dark for children's stories," Ron added.
"And most of them basically had the same plot," Fred said.
"Just told in different ways," George added.
"In other words they hate our stories," Harry said.
"I mean when compared to today's stories they are rather degrading," Roku admitted. "So on to the next episode?"
"Yes please," Tonks said.
"It'll be more entertaining than those stories Hermione and Harry just told us," Ron said.
"Probably because there's more fight scenes in these," Harry said to which Ron nodded. Everyone got settled and Roku started up the next episode called The Shining Beacon.
After the opening credits the screen shows several ships docking at the school's entrance. The blonde boy from the last episode is one of the first to come out and starts emptying his stomach out of a trash can.
Everyone either laughed at his expense or flinched in disgust. "He is going to be okay right?" Molly asked.
"Now that he's on the ground he should be fine," Tonks said.
Ruby and Yang come out with several other people who look like silhouettes and gaze up at Beacon in amazement.
"Okay I didn't really say anything last episode because it was dark out at the time but what's with these background characters?" Sirius asked.
"Yeah you'd think the animators would make them look like actual people and not shadow puppets," Tonks complained.
"They could if they had more of a budget to work on which at the time they didn't," Roku explained. "This was made by an independent company as opposed to the big leagues like Dreamworks or Disney so they didn't have much to work with. Thankfully the show got popular enough that when the second season rolls around they are able to fill these shadows in."
"So we only have to deal with this for the first season," Dumbledore figured.
"I can work with that," Moody said.
"Hey we could make a game out of it," Fred suggested.
"Yeah, Spot the Main Characters," George added.
"You two wouldn't be the first to play that game," Roku told them. The twins high fived at that.
"The view from Vale's got nothing on this," Yang said. People start passing by and Ruby turns into a little floating chibi with stars in her eyes.
"Ohmygosh, Sis! That kid's got a collapsible staff." Another person passes. "And she's got a fire sword." She floats away off screen in excitement but Yang pulls her back by the hood and Ruby returns to regular proportions.
"Um, what happened to Ruby?" Kingsley asked.
"Oh nothing. That was just done for comedic purposes," Roku answered.
"Easy little sister, they're just weapons," Yang reminded her.
"Just weapons?" Ruby repeated in disbelief. "They're an extension of ourselves. They're a part of us! Oh they're so cool!"
"Well why can't you swoon over your own weapon then? Aren't you happy with it?" Yang asked. We can hear Ruby's weapon transform before the screen cuts back to her, Crescent Rose in its scythe form.
"Of course I'm happy with Crescent Rose," she said. "I just really like seeing new ones. It's like meeting new people, but better..."
Hermione winced at that. She used to be the same with books before she became friends with Harry and Ron.
"Ruby come on, why don't you try to make friends of your own?" Yang asks, playfully pulling down her sister's hood over her face.
Ruby took off her hood. "Well... why would I need friends when I have you?"
"Ruby dear you need to spend time with more people than your sister," Molly said.
"Well there are those other people from the trailers," Sirius pointed out.
"As well as those four new characters from the opening," Dumbledore pointed out.
"Yeah, she'll likely get lots of friends. She just needs some time," Tonks said.
Suddenly Yang is surrounded by a group of shadows. "Well... actually my friends are here. Gotta go catch up. Kay, see ya, bye!" She and her friends rush to the school.
"Of course it would help if Yang didn't ditch her!" Tonks yelled as her hair turned red.
"Seriously Yang, what kind of big sister are you?" Ginny asked. Her and Tonks opinion of the blonde brawler went down a little at that.
Yang's sudden departure left Ruby spinning in a daze. "Wait, where are you going? Are we supposed to go to our dorms? Where are our dorms? Do we have dorms? I don't know what I'm doing." Ruby finally stops spinning and collapses onto a cart full of luggage.
"Isn't there anyone else to show the new students around?" Remus asked.
"They probably got instructions before entering the school weeks beforehand but Ruby likely didn't get it cause she entered at the last minute and the teacher must have thought that her sister would help her out," Kingsley guessed.
"They were wrong in that department," Molly growled.
Someone approaches the fallen Ruby. "What are you doing?" the person demanded.
Ruby gets back up to see Weiss towering over her. "Sorry," she muttered.
"'Sorry?!' Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?" Weiss shouted.
"Sweet we get to see Weiss again," Fred said.
"Although her trailer made a better first impression than this does," George added.
"Yep, I knew it," Sirius said. "Rich brat."
Ruby picked up a suitcase and handed it to Weiss who snatched it from her and opened it. "Give me that! This is dust- mined and purified from the Schnee quarry!"
"That's the stuff the lady talked about in the last episode," Moody said.
"And did she say Schnee quarry?" Kingsley asked. "Does her family own a dust mine or something?"
"You could say that," Roku answered.
Weiss took a bottle out as Ruby just stood there dumbfounded. "What are you braindead?" Weiss asked before going into an explanation. "Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!" As she goes on, she shakes the bottle in her hand and some of the dust starts leaking out.
"Oh boy, hope Ruby isn't allergic," Remus said.
"Nah, I'm calling it now. Ruby's going to sneeze and the two are going to go flying," Sirius said, already snickering.
"I... I know," Ruby tries to say but starts coughing from all the dust in her face.
"Weiss does see the dust leaking out right?" Ginny asked.
"Probably not," Ron said.
Weiss didn't hear her and continued yelling. "Are you even listening to me? Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Hey, how about giving her two seconds to answer!" Harry shouted. Weiss was starting to get on his nerves. She almost sounded as pompous as Malfoy. Almost.
Finally Ruby gives a great big sneeze, which erupts into an explosion of flame, snowflakes, and electricity right into Weiss.
Everyone gave a small laugh at that. "I would feel kinda sorry if Weiss wasn't being a bitch just now," Tonks giggled.
"Serves her right," the twins agreed.
The bottle Weiss was holding was sent flying and landed by Blake's feet, who picks up the bottle and notices the snowflake symbol on the label. She looks to see Weiss covered in soot still yelling at the embarrassed Ruby. "Unbelievable this is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about." As Weiss stomps her foot the soot quickly disappears.
"Blake's here too?" Moody asked.
"She must have decided to attend Beacon to try and turn her life around," Dumbledore said.
"Becoming a huntress would take her life in a better direction," Arthur nodded, approving her choice.
"So long as she doesn't get killed," Molly said worryingly.
"I'm really, really sorry," Ruby fumbled but Weiss was still furious.
"You complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" Wiess kept asking. Ruby kept fumbling for an answer as Weiss kept going. "This isn't your normal combat school. It's not just sparing and practice. We're here to fight monsters so watch where you're going."
Ruby had finally had enough of Weiss and shouted "Hey I said I was sorry princess!"
"It's heiress actually," Blake corrected, joining the girls. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellent in the world."
"So Weiss' family has a good hold on the Dust industry," Arthur said.
"That would explain the snobbish attitude," Sirius groaned.
"It would also make her very knowledgeable in the uses of Dust," Kingsley observed. "Would explain how she handled it so well in her trailer."
"Wonder what else she can do with it," Remus mused.
Weiss smiled at the attention. "Finally some recognition." Her face fell at what Blake said next.
"The same company infamous for it's controversial labor forces and questionable business partners."
Everyone winced at that. "And it looks like Mommy and Daddy Schnee are doing what they can to reach the top."
"Just the father," Roku corrected. "I will ask that you not speak ill against Weiss' mother." Everyone was surprised at that but nodded regardless.
Weiss gets mad and fumbles for words while Ruby giggles. Weiss takes the dust bottle back from Blake and walks away. Her servants follow with her luggage. "I promise I'll make this up to you!" Ruby called at Weiss' retreating form.
"She shouldn't have to," Ron said.
"I guess I'm not the only one who's having a rough day," Ruby muttered to herself before turning to Blake asking for her name, but Blake had already walked off.
"Looks like Blake's not up for making new friends then," Ginny said.
"Considering what happened with that Adam bloke I'd imagine she would want to close herself off for the most part," Tonks said.
Ruby starts to feel dejected and slides to her knees before laying on the ground. "Welcome to Beacon," she mutters to herself. A shadow then looms over as a hand reaches out to her. It was the sick boy from the beginning of the episode.
"Hey, I'm Jaune," he introduced. Ruby gave her own name as she lets him help her up.
Ruby then gave a snort. "Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?"
"At least there is someone who is willing to help her out," Hermione said.
"Hopefully he doesn't throw up on her," Ron joked. Hermione smacked him.
The scene then cuts to the two walking. "All I'm saying is motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on," Jaune tried to explain.
"Look, I'm sorry but Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind," Ruby laughed.
"Oh yeah, what if I called you Crater Face," Jaune retored.
Sirius and Remus laughed at that. These two reminded them of Lily and James.
"Hey, that explosion was an accident!" Ruby yelled.
"Well the name's Jaune Arc!" Jaune said. "Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it."
"Doubt it," the twins chorused.
"Wait, Jaune Arc?" Hermione asked. "That sounds like Joan of Arc. Is this who Jaune is based off of?"
"Ten points to Hermione," Roku cheered.
"Another fairy tale knight?" Ginny groaned.
"Actually Joan of Arc was a female who became a sort of knight during the Hundred years war," Kingsley explained.
"How did you know about that," Hermione asked.
"I dabble into a little Muggle history from time to time when I watch over the Prime Minister," Kingsley explained. "Anyway she claimed to have visions from the Archangel Michale to help Charles VII ascend the throne after their previous king was kidnapped. With her help the French were able to reclaim their territory near the end of the war but in 1431 she was burned at the stake for a variety of charges."
"That's awful!" Molly cried.
"Let's hope the same doesn't happen to Jaune here," Harry said.
"Do they?" Ruby asked skeptilly
"They will!" Jaune assured before he seemed to falter. "Well I- I hope they will. My mom always says that... Nevermind." He trailed off, not wanting to deepen the rabbit hole.
Ruby gave a nervous giggle before going into a topic she was more familiar with. "So I got this thing." She unfolds Crescent Rose.
"Way to pick up the boys Ruby," Tonks laughed.
"Yeah that's totally not going to scare him," Ginny deadpanned.
Jaune jumped back in surprise. "Is that a scythe?" he asked.
"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby added showing Jaune the scope.
"Huh?" Ron asked dumbfounded. Hermione opened her mouth but Roku cut her off by playing the video.
"It's also a gun," Ruby explained, cocking the weapon.
"Oh," Ron said alongside Jaune in the video.
"So what have you got?" Ruby asked him.
Jaune pulls out his weapon. "I've got a sword." Ruby looks impressed as he also pulls out a shield. Roku's subtitles called them Crocea Mors.
"Pretty simple but it's nice to see some people still stick to the classics," Dumbledore said.
"He'd probably be better with a sword then I was," Harry mumbled to himself, remembering how he first tried to use the Sword of Gryffindor when fighting the basilisk. He really didn't know what he was doing at the time.
"So what do they do?" Ruby asked, touching Jaune's shield which caused it to jump in and out between its sheathed form before Jaune regained control of it.
While everyone else was laughing Kingsley noticed something interesting. "So the sheath for the sword doubles as a shield. That's pretty convenient."
"Not likely as it will still weigh the same," Sirius said.
"The shield gets smaller," Jaune explained. "So when I get tired of carrying it I can just put it away."
"But won't it weigh the same?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah it does," Jaune admitted dejectedly.
Again, everyone started giggling.
"Well I am a bit of a dork when it comes to weapons," Ruby admitted herself while she hugged her weapon. "I guess I did go a little overboard in designing it."
"She made that herself?" Moody asked, thoroughly impressed.
"And she's how old?" Hermione asked.
"15" Roku answered. Hermione gave a low whistle.
"Wait, you made that?" Jaune asked bewildered.
"Of course. All students at Singal forged their own weapons," Ruby explained.
"So that means Yang made her own gauntlets as well," Arthur said.
"That would come in handy if something happens to their weapons and they can't find a blacksmith," Lupin noted.
"What about in the middle of a fight?" Harry asked.
"I'm sure they're just as good at hand to hand combat as well," Lupin said. Roku gave a nervous laugh as Ruby STILL sucks and hand to hand despite how far she's come.
"Didn't you make yours?" Ruby asked Jaune who looked at his own weapon.
"It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war," Jaune told her.
"Sounds more like a family heirloom to me," Ruby chuckles before turning serious. "Well I like it. Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days."
"I can agree with that," Moody said. "Nothing wrong with keeping it simple sometimes."
"Yeah, the classics," Jaune agreed, putting away his sword.
Ruby started walking again. "So why did you help me out there? In the courtyard?" she asked.
"Eh, why not," Jaune answered. "My mom always says, 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet."
"I can't tell if that's good advice or bad advice," Molly mused.
"Depends on how you look at it," Arthur said.
Ruby hums in thought then takes a look around. "Hey where are we going?"
"Oh, I don't know. I was following you!" Jaune said.
Everyone either face palmed or snickered.
"Okay, Ruby I can understand not knowing her way since she was a last minute addition. What's Jaune's excuse?" Remus asked.
"You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some kind of recognizable landmark?" Jaune asked to which Ruby snickered. "Is that a no?"
"That's a no," Ruby giggled.
"Well, here's hoping someone will find them and give them directions," Hermione said.
"Looks like someone did," Ginny said as the next scene started up.
There was an aerial shot of a giant auditorium which Jaune and Ruby entered. It was already packed with people. Ruby hears Yang call out to her. "I saved you a spot," Yang says when her sister spots her.
"Oh now she starts to act like a sister again," Molly muttered but was only heard by her husband who wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Oh hey, I got to go," Ruby tells Jaune as she goes over to her sister. "I'll see you after the ceremony."
"Why can't Ruby just take Jaune with her?" Kingsley asked.
"Probably just wanted more time with her sister," Ginny figured.
"That and Yang would probably start teasing about how Ruby would already have a boyfriend," Tonks added with a giggle.
"Hey wait!" Jaune cries out as Ruby leaves. Then he sighs. "Great. Where am I suppose to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to." He leaves, showing a warrior-like woman with red hair standing amongst the silhouette.
"How about that one?" the twins jokes.
Ruby stands next to Yang. "How's your first day going, little sister?" Yang asks.
"You mean after you ditch her?" Ginny grumbled.
"You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?" Ruby retorts.
"Yikes, meltdown already?" Yang asks.
"No some dumb chick decides to shake explosive dust in her face," Ron said.
"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice?" Ruby answered.
"Are you being sarcastic?" Yang asks.
"I wish," Ruby vented. "I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted to stop her yelling at me!" As Ruby recounts the events the camera pans over to reveal Weiss standing right behind her.
Everyone chuckled at that.
"Guess her ears must have been burning," Moody said with a lopsided smile.
"You!" Wiess shouted.
Ruby, seeing who was behind her, panicked and jumped into Yang's arms. "Oh, God, it's happening again!"
"You're lucky we wern't blown off the side of the cliff," Weiss said.
"Last I checked that was just as much your fault for shaking the dust in her face," Sirius said but he was too busy smirking to be mad. That was fun to watch.
"Oh my God you really exploded," Yang deadpanned.
"It was an accident," Ruby said, getting out of her sister's arms and addressing Weiss. "It was an accident!" Weiss simply shows Ruby a pamphlet. "What's this?"
"Dust for dummies," Hermione read in an amused tone. "Hilarious."
"Would make sense for her to have something like that though," Kingsley said. "Given that she plans on taking over the family company at some point."
Weiss starts ramling off policies to a confused Ruby. The more Weiss talks, the faster her speech becomes. Ruby just gave her a confused look.
"Why did her voice sound like a chipmunk at the end?" Molly asked.
"The producers probably just edited it to make her speech faster for comedic purposes," Roku answered.
"It did sound like one of those commercials for medicine when they list off the side effects," Hermione said.
"Or the fine print on the car deals you hear on the radios," Harry added.
"You really want to start making things up to me?" Weiss asks.
"Absolutely," Ruby says.
Weiss hands her the pamphlet. "Read this and don't ever speak to me again."
"If we know where this show is going that is highly unlikely," Tonks giggled.
Yang then interjects. "Look, uh, it sounds like you two just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends?" she suggested.
"Yeah, great idea sis," Ruby says as she puts away the pamphlet and holds a hand out to Weiss. "Hello Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!"
Everyone either face palmed or shook their heads. "Ruby, come on! Even I know girls don't go shopping for school supplies for fun," Ron shouted.
"Yeah, even guys-" George started.
"Don't like to go shopping for school supplies," Fred finished.
"And any school supplies I get excited for are the books," Hermione said.
"Although for most girls it would most likely be magazines," Tonks muttered to which Ginny nodded.
Weiss suddenly got enthusiastic. "Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blonde, and scraggly over there!" She jabs her thumb at Jaune who's head perks up at being mentioned.
"Okay I'll admit, that was funny," Fred muttered to his twin who nodded in agreement.
"Wow, really?!" Ruby asks, getting hopeful.
"Umm, Ruby she was being sarcastic," Tonks said.
"No," Weiss deadpanned. The noise of the microphone is heard and everyone looks to the stage where Ozpin and Glynda stand.
Ozpin approaches the microphone. "I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look at all of you, and I see wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."
"Not a bad speech," Moody said.
"And he is correct. We may strive to learn things but they will do nothing if we don't know how to use the knowledge," Dumbledore said. Hermione was a bit off kilter as that speech kinda reminded her of Trelawnly's speech and how books were useless in that subject. Unlike her thought, she feels that Ozpin knows what he's talking about. And she very well knows that above the books, what these students need was experience, which she thinks is the point Ozpin is trying to get across.
Harry had the same theory as Hermione but something about Ozpin struck him as off.
Ozpin then left and Glynda took his place. "You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready.
"He seemed kinda off," Yang noted.
"He really did," Harry said. Some had given him looks but he didn't go any further.
"Almost like he wasn't even there," Ruby agreed.
Jaune had come up to Weiss. "I'm a natural blonde you know," he said. Weiss just puts her hand to her face and shakes her head.
"Oh great, now he's going to try and flirt with her," Arthur moaned.
"That's going to get annoying fast," Lupin agreed.
Night has fallen and everyone is scattered around the ballroom floor in their sleeping bags. Ruby is already in her pajamas with a sleep mask on top of her head and is writing in a journal. Yang flops down next to her, also in pajamas. "It's like a big slumber party!" Yang cheered.
"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though," Ruby said, not looking up from her book.
"I definitely wouldn't," Arthur muttered to himself. Though he figured that since everyone was out in the open there would be no need for worry.
"I know I do," Yang purred as she eyed several guys in only pajama pants flexing their muscles. Jaune then walks by in footie pajamas which Yang groans at.
Tonks, Ginny and Hermione giggled at Yang ogling the shirtless men. Their giggles evolved into full blown laughter and were joined by the rest of the Weasley boys and Harry when they saw Jaune pass by.
Yang then takes note of what Ruby is doing. "What's that?"
"A letter to the gang back a Signal," Ruby explained. "I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things were going."
"Awww. That's so sweet," Molly gushed.
"Awww. That's so cute," Yang gushed. Ruby threw her pillow at her sister with a "Shut up!"
Again everyone started laughing. Whether it was because Molly said the same thing Yang said or it was because of the pillow thrown at Yang's face, no one really knew.
"I didn't take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!" Ruby gripped, clutching a corgi pillow to her chest.
"That is very awkward at first," Hermione admitted knowing that none of her friends from her muggle school came with her to Hogwarts. It made things more awkward.
"Well Ruby does know some people here," Tonks argued. "There's Yang, Jaune, Weiss and she's already kinda met Blake."
"What about Jaune?" Yang asks. "He's... nice! There you go! Plus one friend! That's a hundred percent increase!"
Ruby rolls over on her back. "Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Back to zero."
"There's no such thing as negative friends! You just made one friend and one enemy!" Yang countered. Ruby threw the corgi pillow at her face.
Again the younger members in the audience laughed. "I mean she's not wrong," the twins said.
"Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!" Yang assured her.
"That is sound advice," Molly said.
"Definitely being a better sister than this morning," Ginny said, Tonks nodding beside her.
Their attention gets drawn by a candle being lit. They see Blake sitting next to it, reading a book. "That girl," Ruby mumbled.
"You know her?" Yang asked.
"Not really. She saw what happened this morning but left before I could say anything," Ruby explained.
"Well, now's your chance!" Yang declared, pulling Ruby to her feet and dragging her over to Blake. Ruby struggles to break free from Yang's grip. "Hello!'' She greeted Blake. "I believe you two may know each other."
"She is reading right now! You should not be disturbing her!" Hermione shouted.
Her fellow Gryffindors rolled their eyes. They knew how Hermione was every time someone interrupted her studies. Especially in the trio's third year.
Blake then notices Ruby. "Aren't you the girl that exploded?" she asks.
"Hell of a way to be remembered as," Fred muttered to George.
Ruby stops fighting her sister and addresses Blake. "Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby!" She extends a hand out to Blake but withdraws sheepishly when she doesn't take it. "But you can just call me Crater..." Ruby stops, catching herself. "Actually you can just call me Ruby."
"Was she seriously about to call herself Crater Face?" Reamus asked, laughing.
"Poor kid is more awkward than I thought," Sirius said.
Blake, who was back to reading her book, simply said "Okay."
"What are you doing?" Yang asks in a whisper.
"I don't know, help me," Ruby returns.
"How about leaving her alone since she's reading," Hermione grumbled.
Yang turns back to Blake. "So what's your name?" Blake gave a sigh before introducing herself. Yang continues the conversation "Well Blake I'm Yang. Ruby's older sister. I like your bow."
"Thanks," Blake said.
"It goes great with your pajamas," Yang continued.
"Yeah, I'm starting to see why Ruby is so socially awkward," George said.
"Unless there's something going on that we're not seeing," Fred continued. The two looked at the girls on the screen before looking back at each other with sly smirks.
"Right," Blake said, starting to get annoyed at the constant interruptions.
Ruby gives an uncomfortable laugh as Yang goes on. "Nice night don't you think?"
"Yes, it's lovely. Almost as lovely as this book," Blake said. The two sisters stare at her. "That I will continue to read." Yang and Ruby still haven't taken the hint yet so Blake drops all pretenses. "As soon as you leave."
"Just let her read her book in peace!" Hermione screamed.
"Chill 'Moine I'm sure they got the message by now," Ron said, inching away from her.
"Yeah this girl's a lost cause," Yang told her sister but Ruby asks "What's it about?" Blake looked confused. "Your book? Does it have a name?" Ruby continued.
"Well it's about a man with two souls. Each fighting for control over his body," Blake explained.
"That does sound really interesting," Reamus said, able to relate somewhat to the book.
"Oh yeah, that's really lovely," Yang mumbles sarcastically.
"I love books," Ruby said. "Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to become a Huntress."
Blake gave a small laugh. "Why's that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?"
"What's wrong with that?" Ginny asked.
"Because the real world is more complicated than that," Harry answered. His friends shot him with sympathetic looks.
"Well I'm hoping we all will," Ruby admitted. "As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves."
"I can see what Ozpin ment in the last episode when he referred to Ruby as an honest soul," Kingsley said to Dumbledore who nodded in agreement.
"Makes me worried how long it will take before the real world breaks her," Moody said.
Blake smiles at that. "That's... very ambitious for a child." She then frowns. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."
Ruby wasn't bothered by the statement. "Well that's why we're here! To make it better."
"That's all anyone can hope for in this war we are currently in," Tonks said, already feeling inspired by Ruby.
"Oh, I'm so proud of my baby sister!" Yang cheered as she picked up Ruby in a hug.
Ruby gets annoyed by this. "Cut it out!" The two start to fight which disappears behind a dust cloud of flying limbs and stars.
Harry, Hermione, Reamus and Tonks start laughing at the comedic effects but the purebloods were more confused at what just happened. "Did I just hear a cat scream?" Molly asked.
Sirius just jabbed his thumb at those who were laughing. "Pretty sure it's just one of those Muggle effect things considering how hard they are laughing."
Blake chuckles at their amusement. "Well, Ruby, Yang. It's been a pleasure- '' She gets cut off by Weiss showing up.
"What in the world is going on over here?!" The heiress demanded. "Don't you realize that some of us are trying to sleep?" She then spots Ruby and Yang.
"Oh not you again!" Weiss and Yang scream in unison.
Ruby shushed them. "Guys she's right. People are trying to sleep."
"Oh, now you're on my side," Weiss grumbled.
"I was always on your side," Ruby argued.
"I'm really hoping Weiss gets over herself soon," Sirius said.
"I'm pretty sure Ruby, Yang, and Blake will get her to loosen up," Hermione said. After all, the same was true once she befriended Harry and Ron.
Blake rolls her eyes and puts down her book before reaching for her candle.
Yang got in on the argument. "Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!"
"She's a hazard to my health!" Weiss countered. Blake blew out the candle and the scene was engulfed in black.
"So all of our heros have finally met," Tonks cheered.
"Yeah but it looks like it's going to be a rocky start," Kingsley said.
"Blake will probably keep her distance but she is polite," Arthur mused.
"Weiss will be the toughest nut to crack out of all of them," Sirius said. "Like I said earlier, she's a full time diva."
"So Roku, are you going to play the next episode? Or do you have another World of Remnant for us?" Dumbledore asked.
"Another World of Remnant," Roku answered. "This one is about dust."
"Fascinating," Arthur said. "I have been wondering how this form of energy works."
The static cut off and the title appeared on the screen.
World of Remnant
Dust
The mysterious narrator started to speak. "Dust. By definition, it is a naturally occurring energy propellant that can be triggered by the Aura of both Humans and Faunus. But in reality, it is so much more." A swirl of energy forms into a solid shape which then brightens before separating into four symbols. Fire, ice, earth, and wind.
"Aura?" everyone asks.
"It's what powers their semblance. There will be a detailed explanation later on," Roku said. While she had planned on adding the force field aspect, Hermione's words about how cartoon characters don't actually get injured prompted her to change her mind. Hermione's reaction will be priceless.
"Found in four basic forms, Dust can be combined both artificial and naturally to form new, stronger types, each with unique properties." The four symbols came together and unleashed its power.
"So you can mix and match them into various combinations?" Fred asked as he and George silently came up with ways to try and imitate this for joke products.
"Since its discovery, man has concocted a multitude of ways in which to harness these mysterious crystals." A hand slowley picks one up from the ground. "From airships to androids, Dust has made its way into practically every facet of technology."
"Meaning this is their overall main power source," Kingsley said.
"Have they tried to consider other methods of energy?" Hermione asks. "It seems like Dust isn't going to be around forever."
"I'm sure they'll try other things once it seems like they nearly depleted it," Arthur assured.
"Some prefer Dust in its raw form: elegant, yet destructive. Those who choose to wield Dust in this state must obtain a certain level of discipline, to ensure that their resulting powers do not break free from their control." A figure holds Dust powder in its hands up to the sky, causing a lightning storm that grew until a tornado engulfed him.
"Ooofff, that guy was crazy," George said.
"That's like trying to do magic without a wand," Fred added.
"Dust ammunition serves as a more practical application in today's modern society." A number of soldiers appeared, knelt down and armed with rifles. "With the technological advancements in weapons design, warriors need merely choose the right cartridge for the job and pull the trigger." The soldiers disappear save for one who fires his round and then stands up.
"So like what we've seen most of the students do so far," Kingsley said.
"Though Weiss is a bit more creative with infusing dust into her sword," Remus pointed out.
"Not to mention the mystery woman from the last episode," Harry reminded them.
"That's right! It seemed like the dust was sown into her clothes," Hermione said.
The man then leapt into the air, leaving cracks in the ground. "While this has become the most standard method of use, it is not uncommon to find individuals still practicing more archaic forms of Dust manipulation. Such as weaving it into their clothes." Another figure is shown wearing a coat that burns at the end.
Harry and Hermione shared a smile at being right about that.
"Or even fusing it directly with their own bodies." A third figure inserts an ice crystal into his stomach before he shatters.
"Yeah, no. I think I don't need to do that," Tonks said nervously.
A vendor had a pack of Dust ready to sell. "Despite working, fighting," A soldier stood ready to fight. "And even turning a profit," the Schnee symbol is shown. "Humanity still has yet to understand how Dust came to be, and more importantly, how their involvement with Dust will ultimately change the world of Remnant."
"That was definitely informative," Dumbledore said.
"I wonder what other kinds of uses we'll see," Sirius said.
"One way to find out. Roku can you start the next episode please," Arthur requested.
"On it," Roku replied and started up the next episode.
Apologies for the long wait. Long story short, real life has been kicking me in the butt. Same went with my former beta who is no longer able to help me with these fics. So good news; the wait won't be AS long as before. But I've still got two jobs, several other hobbies and other fanfics to write so it won't be fast. Bad news; mistakes are completely my own but I'll be fine.
