Hey guys. Thank you so much for your reviews. I'm happy to be able to post this new chapter.
In this new chapter, Hope will discover a new part of the past of her father and her family, linked to the Five.
Good reading.
Chapter 4: The Five
Standing up, Stefan discovered a whole vampire hunter' stuff of weapons. He saw a stake with a strange symbol on it.
"So what is all this?" he asked seeing his brother Damon arrive with a big box full of things.
"Some personal items that I snaked from the vampire hunter's RV." Damon replied, putting the box down. "If he's still alive, I'm searching for a supernatural handbook."
"You know for a fact he is supernatural?" Stefan wondered.
"Definitely isn't natural. The guy magically appears just as someone blows up the entire Founders' Council, covered in a tattoo that only Jeremy Gilbert, of all people in the world, seems to be able to see. Klaus mentioned something about him being one of the Five. And then he tries to kamikazes himself with explosives. Seem natural to you?"
"What's the Five?"
"That's what I'm hoping is in the first chapter of the handbook." Damon replied with a smirk.
"How do you know he's still alive?" Stefan resumed after a silence.
"Klaus' new witch… Hope… A young witch who seems to me much more experienced than Bonnie stopped the bomb from where he tried to kill himself. I saw her. This girl… That Hope really has something special."
"I saw her too. She came with Klaus when he came here to heal Elena," Stefan replied thoughtfully. "She told me to enjoy my time with her and be there for her."
"And she told you something else?" Damon asked with a wary look.
Stefan shrugged before answering:
"Just that she's with Klaus. That he isn't forcing to her. That she has her reasons for wanting to be with him and that's up to her. That's all she told me."
"Well now, that's up to me!" Damon said as he put Connor's gun back in the box. "New, young, powerful witch hanging out with Klaus, we don't need that right now, with that hunter on top of that.I need to find out who this Hope is. How long she's been here and what she wants. A witch who makes friends with Klaus of her own free will. I've a bad feeling about this."
"What do you mean 'you'?" retorted Stefan doubtfully. "I, too, want to know who Hope is and who the Five are."
"There's no 'us'." Damon replied emphatically. "We're in a fight."
"You're in a fight;" his brother corrected him in the same tone. "I'm not in a fight. I'm over it. I've been over it."
"You're not still mad at me about Elena?" Damon asked, frowning.
"You let her feed on you. I'm always going to be mad at you. But we're not in a fight."
"Very well, then." Damon replied unconvinced. "I'm going to need you to get on this Hope and these Five today. I have to take Elena to college."
"I'm sorry, you have to do what, exactly?" Stefan exclaimed carefully.
"I'm teaching her how to feed." answered his brother in a natural tone. "She needs to learn snatch, eat, erase now more than ever…" (Seeing that Stefan was about to ask him more, he stopped him in his tracks.) "Ah. We're not in a fight, remember?"
Hope had woken up. She had spent the evening making sure that Connor didn't break free from the shackles that her father had imprisoned him on a wooden device. Today, she hoped to find out what linked her father to the Five Hunters. Until now, he hadn't said anything to her, and she didn't want to be too curious, lest she draw more attention to herself.
After getting dressed, she joined her father who seemed to be about to leave.
"Hello Hope," he greeted her by putting on his jacket. "I was going out for a Mystic Grill ride. Will you come with me?"
"Hello you too and yes, I would like that. If there's one thing I love about this town, it's milkshakes. Peanut Butter Blast. Whipped cream on the bottom."
"I'll take this for you while I try to talk to my dear sister Rebekah," Klaus replied.
"Your sister Rebekah?" wondered Hope amazed. "Why now?"
It was the first time Klaus had considered contacting Rebekah since he kicked her out of his Mansion. Hope figured her father again had a plan in mind.
"It's about the secret that the Five are hiding," her father explained to her. "My sister has information about what I'm missing. So I need to talk to her and ask her to help me."
"Do you plan to forgive her?" Hope asked shocked at the thought of finding herself face to face with her Aunt Rebekah.
"If it comes to that, I have no choice." admitted Klaus.
"You can always try to talk to her," explained the Tribrid with a sorry look. "But given what happened the last time you saw each other, there's a high chance she'll kick you off if you ask her for help. And you're gonna need more than excuses for her to forgive you. I'm just saying."
Hope felt very unhappy for her family. Rebekah had destroyed Elena's only remaining human blood bags, then in retaliation, her dad had snapped her neck. She didn't see how her father and aunt could reconcile after that. They had hurt each other. Her father expected a near-miracle.
"I am well aware of that," Klaus admitted once again. "But I'm in a dead end and I can't move forward without my sister's information."
"How do you know she'll be at the Mystic Grill?" Hope asked, frowning.
"Rebekah feels lonely since I kicked her out of my house. I know her very well, she's so predictable. When she feels alone and abandoned, she looks for company with the first boy who call her pretty. That's what she will try to do with quarterback Matt Donovan who works there as a bartender."
Hope frowned. She never imagined her aunt in a relationship with Matt Donovan. She didn't see them together. Then she remembered that she was in the past, and that the Matt of that time was not yet the sheriff of Mystic Falls that she knew.
"It's gonna be interesting." Hope commented in spite of herself.
"More than you think," Klaus told her with a sardonic look.
They had then both gone to the Mystic Grill. Hope was quietly drinking her milkshake at the counter, while her father had isolated himself at a table. As Hope sipped her drink, she spotted April Young a few feet away from her. She took a drink on her side, seated at a table.
The Tribrid then thought that she might be able to get information about Pastor Young's motives for wanting to commit suicide on his farm with several people by talking with his daughter.
Quietly and smiling normally, Hope walked over to her with her milkshake in hand.
"Hi."
April looked up and stared at her curiously.
"Hi. Do I know you?"
"No, I'm new to town. My name's Hope. Hope Marshall. I'm just trying to get to know the locals."
"April Young. Nice to meet you, Hope," April replied, greeting the girl.
Hope pretended to think.
"Young? Like Pastor Young? A relative of yours?"
"It was my dad," April agreed sadly, looking down at her drink. "He set fire to his farm with several people and killed himself."
"I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to be clumsy," Hope answered with a sad face. "If it helps, I know how you feel. I myself lost my dad. Also deceased. Losing your parents is horrible, I know what it feels like. If you need to talk, I can listen to you."
April smiled.
"Thanks Hope. You are really nice."
"It's horrible for your dad," resumed Hope, sitting down in front of her. "I read in the press that the explosion at his farm was caused by a faulty gas line."
April snorted disdainfully.
"That's what it said in the papers. But I do not believe that for a second. My dad wasn't dumb enough to let a gas line slip away at home. Sometimes I smoked on the sly and even before I crossed the threshold of my door, Dad could smell the smell of cigarettes on me. He could have smelled the gas line and prevented it from exploding."
"So you don't think it was an accident?" Hope said with interest.
"I know my father was not an idiot and he'd no reason to want to set fire to home." retorted April in a categorical tone. "Why would he want to end his life by leaving me all alone like that. The last time I spoke to him, he had no intention of committing suicide. And I know that wasn't my dad's style."
"So weird," Hope commented.
"And very creepy," retorted April.
Then she got up from the table and took the Tribrid's hand, smiling kindly at her.
"Thank you for listening to me. It felt good. I need to be alone right now, but thanks again for listening."
"You're welcome. It did me good too. It's good to see I'm not alone. Good luck, April."
"Thanks Hope. See you later," April replied as she walked away.
After she left, Hope looked at her milkshake thinking about what she had just learned.
Right, I didn't learn much, but what April just told me confirms what I already thought about all this. Young had no suicidal thoughts. If he blew up the Founders at his farm, that means someone pushed him to do it. The question. Who and why.
As she meditated in her thoughts while drinking her drink, she saw her aunt Rebekah giving car keys to Matt. But the latter continued to clean his glasses without any interest in what the Original was offering him.
"What's that?"
"The key to your new truck." Rebekah said proudly, as if she had just done a good deed. "It's parked outside, paid for, insured, everything but a big red bow."
But Matt replied with indifference without the slightest enthusiasm to the gift offered to him:
"If that's your idea of an apology… You should probably give it to Elena. She's the one you killed."
No sooner had Matt walked away than Rebekah saw her brother Klaus sitting at a table with a glass of wine staring at her like a fox.
She sighed in annoyance, while Klaus amusedly told her:
"You're trying too hard."
Rebekah gave her a cold look.
"Last I heard, you were leaving town... forever."
Klaus smiled before getting up from the table and joining his sister.
"Well, I was. But circumstances made me stay. I met someone. A very cute and impressive girl. And then it reminded me of you. I thought to myself, 'how can I when my sister, clearly so desperate for love and affection, is left here... Bribing the help.'"
He landed next to her, brushing the car keys on the counter.
"What do you want, Nik?" retorted Rebekah annoyed. "I thought I was dead to you."
"Things change, Rebekah," Klaus replied with a shrug. "I've stumbled upon something I think might be of interest to you."
"Doubt that." she answered with indifference.
"No? Well, what if I told you the Brotherhood of the Five still existed?"
At the mention of the Five, Rebekah looked stunned.
"What?" she exclaimed.
"You see? And like that, bygones."Klaus exclaimed, delighted to have aroused his sister's interest. "Come on, love. Work to do."
"We don't have anything to do." replied Rebekah coldly. "There is no 'we'. I don't care about the Five, and I don't care about you."
Klaus looked disappointed. He had hoped so much to arouse his sister's interest in the Five, but his attempt was a failure. He saw in the distance Hope, who had been listening to their conversation, giving him a sympathetic look that meant, "I told you."
Sighing, he pulled away from her.
"As you wish."
Soon after, he left the restaurant with Hope beside him.
"I'm really sorry you didn't get what you wanted," his daughter said kindly following him. "But I warned you, there was little chance she'd agree to help you. If you want, maybe I can talk to her for you."
Klaus smiled at the Tribrid audience.
"I respect your help, Hope. But my sister would be wary of my allies coming to her to speak on my behalf. She'll do whatever she wants. It would be a waste of time. If I want to convince Rebekah to give me the information I'm missing, I have to do it differently."
"If she don't want to listen to any of us, maybe an outside person could help us." Hope suggested.
Klaus thought, then nodded.
"Yes, you're right. It's a good idea. The question is finding the right person for us."
They had returned to Mikaelson Mansion.
Klaus came to see Connor who was still chained to his instrument of torture. The helpless hunter just stared coldly at him.
Hope wandered around the Mansion quietly trying to find something that could help her return to her time. During the days she stayed at the Mansion, she leafed through a few books on her father's shelves. Until then, she hadn't read anything that could help her.
As she was flipping through a book, someone entered the room. Hope looked up and looked stunned to find Stefan Salvatore walking into the room where she was.
"Stefan? What are you doing here?"
The vampire didn't answer right away. He eyed Hope warily before retorting with a strange smile:
"Hey Hope! I know you and Klaus are keeping Connor here. I would like to understand why Klaus is interested in him. Who are these Five he mentioned to Damon and why did he heal Elena without asking for anything in return? And… I have nothing better to do today."
At first reluctant, Hope ends up asking him to follow her to bring him to her father.
Once there, she found him with Connor.
"You have a visitor. Stefan Salvatore's here."
At the mention of Stefan, Klaus froze without looking at him.
"Looks like I'll have to beef up the hybrid security detail. Or ask Hope for a spell to keep anyone from entering my house uninvited."
After glancing at the chained Connor, Stefan spoke to him in a matter-of-fact tone.
"I was going to take him, but I figured you went through such trouble to truss him up in your red room of pain."
Klaus looked at Stefan with a smirk, retorting:
"It's from the Inquisition. I thought it was a nice touch."
"What'd you get out of him?" asked Stefan intrigued, looking at Connor.
"Not enough." Klaus replied, staring at the hunter. "He's mum about the Council fire and he's not saying anything about this greater evil we're all supposed to be shivering over." (Then he turned to Stefan warily.) "What brings you snooping?"
"Well, I can't say it in front of him." Stefan replied playfully. "As I'm sure you've figured out, our friend here can't be compelled."
"You're full of mysteries, aren't you?" Klaus replied, staring at Connor again with a grin.
"I told you," Connor retorted, finally speaking from his sequestration. "I don't know anything."
"Thankfully, I know plenty." Klaus continued jubilantly.
Then he walked away, inviting Hope and Stefan to follow him.
He closed the doors behind him, then addressed the Tribrid:
"In the future, Hope, the next time an old friend of mine turned enemy shows up at my house unannounced, you bring him back to the exit. So, Stefan, what's with the home invasion?"
"Damon said you knew something about this guy." explained Stefan. "I should have figured you were up to something when you healed Elena from the werewolf poison without asking for anything in return."
Klaus sneered at the mention of Elena.
"I was feeling benevolent."
But Hope could see he was lying and Stefan knew it too.
"You're never benevolent."he retorted with a look of defiance. "Who is this guy? What's the Five?"
"So many questions," was satisfied to answer the Original Hybrid.
"It's a good thing I have nothing to do today except get answers out of you." Stefan replied, settling on his couch. "Or you can ask Hope to kick me out of your house. Damon tolds me she seems more experienced than Bonnie. I'd like to see that!"
Hope eyed her father uneasily. She didn't want to use her magic on Stefan to get him out of the Mansion, even though he and her father were enemies. Also, Stefan was dead for the town in the future. It bothered her to be forced to hurt him. She was once again cursing time travel.
In the hope of convincing her father, she ends up suggesting to him:
"He could be useful to us. You said yourself that you were at a dead end. Stefan could help us get what you want."
Klaus thought for a moment as he looked at his former friend, then finally sighed. Hope then felt she was about to discover a new part of her father and family's past.
After a sigh, Klaus replied:
"Fine. You might actually be useful in persuading my sister to cooperate. The Brotherhood of the Five was a group of highly kill vampire hunters. We crossed paths with them in the twelfth century, Italy. My siblings and I had followed the Normans as they conquered the South. Feeding, turning people as we went. But with the bloodshed came exposure."
He told Hope and Stefan about his encounter with one of the Five's hunters, exposing vampires to daylight reducing them to ashes. Despite Elijah's recommendations, Klaus was more concerned about Rebekah who fell in love with a vampire hunter..
Hope looked stunned. Her aunt Rebekah had been romantically involved with a Hunter of Five in the twelfth century?
"So these hunters have been around for 900 years?" Stefan said after Klaus' story.
"Has it been that long?" Hope added.
"Yes, apparently." Klaus replied, looking up at the ceiling. "Well, our friend in the other room is the first I've seen since then. Kind of makes you wonder what they've been up to all these years."
"And Rebekah had a thing with one of them?" asked Stefan puzzled.
"Oh, she didn't just have a thing. She fell in love with him."
"Really?" wondered Hope stunned. "Your sister in a relationship with a vampire hunter?"
"And yes, my dear sister always had a strange way of choosing her suitors," Klaus added with amusement. "To come back to the hunter of the Five, He told her all his secrets. Which I will gladly share with you both… Provided you, Stefan, you do one thing for me."
"And what's that?" Stefan asked snidely, imagining what his enemy was going to force him to do.
"Get Rebekah over here." Klaus continued. "She's being stubborn. And hateful. I need to make peace with her. I want her to give me some very important information about the hunter, which she won't do unless she believes we've made up."
"And… what's in it for me?" Stefan nodded with a hint of skepticism.
"Just get her here and I'll tell you." Klaus answered leaving the room. "Oh, and Stefan... Trust me when I say this... that hunter in there holds the answer to all your prayers."
Once Stefan was aware of his task at hand, he left the Mansion. Hope took the opportunity to join her father.
"The answer to his prayers?" she asked doubtfully. "You gonna use him to get what you want?"
"Honestly, my littlest wolf, Stefan and I will help each other," Klaus replied with a grin. "When he gets Rebekah back, you'll understand everything."
Stefan then returned to the Mystic Grill to look for Rebekah. He found her sitting at a table across from April Young. Immediately, he took his place and came to compel April.
"You won't remember any of this."
Then he turned to Rebekah.
"Klaus wants me to fake peace with you so you'll talk about the Five."
"Yeah, I bet." exclaimed the Original Sister without the slightest enthusiasm. "Don't help him. He'll just betray you. It's what he does."
"All right, well, forget him. Help me instead." retorted Stefan.
"Why? You hate me more than he does."
"Because I'm going to figure out what he's up to. And plus I can give you the one thing that he won't."
"And what's that?" Rebekah said sarcastically.
"A clean slate." Stefan replied simply. "I'm not saying that I'm willing to forgive you for what you did to Elena, but I'm willing to set it aside and start over."
"Why would you do that?"
"Because you're obviously not leaving town any time soon, and I'm just looking for a way we can all get along. Plus, you can't be too happy wandering around school with no friends."
"Well, what if I don't care what you or anyone else thinks?" Rebekah retorted dryly.
"Well, I'm pretty sure that you care what, uh, Matt over there thinks." Stefan replied, staring at the restaurant waiter putting away glasses.
Rebekah looked at him with dreamy eyes.
"So maybe I can talk to him about a clean slate, too." Stefan continued. "And there's something else I want to talk to you about. Do you know a very experienced and powerful young witch named Hope?"
Rebekah frowned.
"Hope? No, I've never heard of her. Why? Who is she?"
"My understanding is that Klaus recently met this young witch. Young as sixteen or seventeen. Brown and very strong. Damon told me she's trained in physical combat. I'd like to know who she is and what she's doing with Klaus. Because apparently she's with him of her own free will."
"Of her own free will?" wondered Rebekah with wide eyes. "My brother has worked with witches in the past, but never with kids. He usually threatens them to force them to do what he wants them to do for him. I can't believe a 17-year-old girl would follow him without him threatening her. Something is not right."
"We agree on this point. So, let's discover it together," Stefan suggested.
At the Mansion, Klaus was keeping an eye on the chained Connor. He took pleasure in mocking his captive.
"You feeling all right, mate? Are the shackles too tight?"
Connor just groaned in response. Hope came to see them.
"Are you sure these shackles are strong enough to hold him? This is about a supernatural vampire hunter."
"I have everything I need to keep Connor at home," Klaus assured her with a grin.
At that moment, Stefan came back to them with Rebekah.
"Welcome home, sister!" Klaus exclaimed at the sight of his sister.
Rebekah glared at her brother with contempt, then turned her gaze to Connor, very displeased. Like she thought she was forced to come for nothing.
"This is a trick? How do you know he's one of the Five? Where's his bloody tattoo?" she retorted sternly.
"Oh, the tattoos aren't visible on this lot like they were on the last." Klaus explained.
Rebekah hadn't noticed Hope yet, only having eyes for Connor. When the Tribrid walked towards her, the Original Sister spotted the girl and stared at her curiously.
"You must be Hope?"
"Yup, that's me," answered the Tribrid in shock to be in front of her aunt for the first time since her arrival in the past.
"Hope… strange name," added Rebekah, frowning.
"You're not the first one to say that,"answered the Tribrid with amusement.
Rebekah gloated before retorting, still staring at Hope:
"So you're the very cute and impressive girl my brother met."
Hope blushed slightly at this sentence and began to look at her father very shocked.
"Very cute and impressive? Thanks," she told him with emotion.
"That's who you are, Hope." Klaus admitted with a smile.
Then Rebekah turned to her brother.
"Nick, who's that girl? Your new victim or your future lover? Although she seems a bit young to me to be the second hypothesis."
Hope grimaced in disgust, while Klaus responded with indifference and amusement.
"A pretty girl I met the night you threw away all that I had left of Elena's blood. And she impressed me. She understands me much better than you or the others did."
Rebekah eyed Klaus skeptically, then turned back to Hope.
"Kid, I don't know why you're following him, but you're making a serious mistake. He'll betray you when he doesn't need you anymore. He'll dagger you in the heart when you don't expect it. You better leave him while you still can. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into."
If only you knew how true you are.
Hope just smiled with a neutral gaze, retorting:
"I appreciate your concern for me, it means a lot to me. Yeah, I'm young, but I'm not stupid. I'm a big girl who can take care of herself. I don't need anyone to defend me."
The Tribrid wondered how her aunt would talk to her if she knew she was her niece. At Hope's words, Klaus smiled with satisfaction.
"Funny, she reminds me of you, Rebekah. I think I found the right person."
"Because I have not been the right person for you in the thousand years I have spent with you?" exclaimed Rebekah outraged and indignant.
"You were… until you disappoint me over and over again. Now, let's eat."
Hope, Klaus, Rebekah and Stefan were all four seated at a table filled with a buffet of food and wine.
For now, all four were calm. No one spoke. Hope felt a little uncomfortable. She was seated between Rebekah and Klaus with Stefan across from her. She could see that her aunt was still furious with her father and didn't really want to be there.
While Klaus was completely natural, despite the moody mood around the table. He came to thank the young woman he had compelled who served them food and drink.
"Thank you, my lovely. Hope, is that good enough for you?"
"It's very good, thank you," answered the Tribrid awkwardly.
Klaus gloated, retorting:
"I could kiss the Council for burning up all the vervain in town. They made my life so much easier." (He noticed that his sister hadn't touched a single piece of dinner.) "Rebekah, love, eat your veggies."
"I'm not eating till you apologize." replied Rebekah coldly without touching her meal.
"For which indiscretion?" Klaus exclaimed amused. "There have been so many."
"You broke my neck!'
"You threw away Elena's blood so I can't make any more hybrids!" Klaus retorted with an ounce of anger.
"'Cause you took me for granted!" said Rebekah outraged.
"That's what big brothers do, sweetheart!" said the Original Hybrid in a categorical tone.
Seeing that the dinner was about to take a dramatic turn, Hope dared to intervene by addressing her aunt and her father:
"Please, we're at the table. Dinner has just started. You're not gonna jump to your throat yet. You two are a thousand years old. So behave like responsible adults. You can handle this in a civilized way. You don't have to love or reconcile right away, but nothing prevents you from being civilized for at least one meal."
"I like you, Hope," Rebekah said looking at the girl with interest. "You're much more mature than my brother."
Klaus seemed to consider Hope's words, then decided to take another approach to reach his sister.
"All right, fine." he said, raising his arms with a defeatist look. "I'm sorry. I often forget how delicate you are. Forgive me?"
"I'll take it under consideration." replied Rebekah still sullen.
Stefan chooses this moment to broach the subject with Klaus:
"Ok, good. Ahem. Now, why don't you tell me about Rebekah's hunter?"
Klaus resumed his gloating gaze and began to tell:
"Right. Alexander. Nice chap, forgoing the obvious issues. He was looking for creatures of the night, which is why we felt quite safe around him wearing our daylight rings."
And he detailed a meal that the Mikaelsons had organized to get to know the hunter Alexander. Elijah was eager to learn more about the Brotherhood of Five. Alexander had told them that they were five, bound by fire and by the last breath of a dying witch for one cause: the destruction of all vampires. And when Klaus had asked him how they were going to do it, Alexander had told them about an ultimate weapon that no vampire would survive.
"So, that's what this is about?" Stefan replied after the story. "A weapon?"
"Not just any weapon." replied the Original Sister.
"Rebekah, love, don't get ahead of the story." said Klaus, speaking again.
"How is a weapon the answer to all of my prayers?" Stefan wondered skeptically.
Even Hope wondered what kind of weapon Alexander was referring to.
Klaus stared at Rebekah. They both stared at each other without saying anything.
"Well? Stefan asked first, what's this weapon?" Hope asked.
"Not quite yet."resumed Klaus. "Because in order to find this weapon, we need to solve the puzzle, which seems to have disappeared."
"What puzzle?" asked Stefan puzzled.
Hope thought for a moment and realized with amazement:
"The tattoo. The invisible tattoo of our hunter."
"I see you got it." declared Klaus looking at the Tribrid with pride.
"And what is it?"asked Stefan.
"A map." answered Klaus. "Leading us to its treasure."
"Fat lot of good a tattoo's going to do if we can't see it."Rebekah snapped.
"We can't, but someone else can." answered the Original Hybrid with a grin.
"In such a short time, you found someone who is able to see Connor's invisible tattoo?" wondered Hope stunned.
"And yes, I am full of surprises, sweetie." (He turned to the compelled woman.) "Why don't you tell the hybrid to bring him in, love?" (And he turned his gaze to the others again.) "You see, the Hunter was so eager to get to the bottom of his mystery tattoos that he mentioned there was only one other person who could see them."
It was then that a hybrid entered the dining room, holding Jeremy Gilbert by both arms. At the sight of Jeremy, Stefan leaps with vampiric speed to reach him, but Klaus reacts faster and comes between him and the young Gilbert.
"I wouldn't." Klaus told him preventing Stefan from reaching Jeremy.
Hope was stunned.
"This is… Jeremy Gilbert? Elena's brother? Can he see the tattoos?"
"Oh yes," approved her father gloating."Lucky for us, young Jeremy here is a bit of an artist."
"I'm not helping you with anything." replied Jeremy coldly.
But the hybrid holding him snatched a ring from his finger and threw it at Klaus who caught it with his vampiric reflexes.
"I'm afraid you are." Klaus told him with a categorical tone.
Hope looked stunned by what she had just learned. She immersed herself in her knowledge. This story of hunters of the Five reminded her of something she already knew. And indeed, the hunter's tattoo led to a treasure. And Jeremy could see the tattoos.
If Jeremy Gilbert can see the tattoos, that means he's a Potential Hunter for the Five. Why is Dad dragging Stefan into this? It must have something to do with Elena if he agreed to treat her without asking for anything in return.
While Jeremy was forced to draw the invisible tattoo on Connor's arm, dinner continued. Stefan continued his investigations:
"So tell me more about this tattoo."
Klaus inhaled with a smirk before answering:
"My sister's suitor was unwilling to tell us anything. Rebekah, however, was more than willing to… Investigate, isn't that right?"
Hope noticed that her aunt looked embarrassed with a look of regret, and she understood where her father meant. Rebekah was getting very intimate with Alexander so she could learn more about his secrets.
Rebekah then recounted one night when they had slept together that Alexander had revealed to her that there was a sword that could translate the signs of the tattoo. He had suggested that she follow the path traced by the map and she had accepted to accompany him. Then she had noticed a dagger which, in Alexander's words, was meant for a very special kind of vampire. And while he had distracted her by kissing her, he had taken the opportunity to use this dagger to stab her.
Hope was shocked by this revelation.
"My sister's boyfriend threw a slumber party that night." Klaus added, looking at Rebekah with a reproachful look. "He and his brothers put us all down in our sleep. Elijah, Kol, Finn… And me."
"How was I supposed to know?" replied Rebekah as if she wanted to justify herself.
I couldn't have know it either when Roman lured me into a trap and my mother died because of it…
Hope felt sorry for her aunt, having almost gone through the same situation with her ex-boyfriend Roman Sienna.
"Cheers." Klaus said cynically theatrically, raising his glass in the air towards his sister. "To my sister's uncanny ability to choose men."
"Wait a minute," Hope said suddenly, frowning. "You are half werewolf. So the daggers couldn't reach you."
"Yes," nodded Klaus gloating. "I was the only one who couldn't be daggered. So I'm the one who killed all the Hunters, including the idiot in love with my sister."
At the mention of Alexander, Rebekah lowered her head in shame, as if she had been caught out.
After killing all of the Five, Klaus ferociously goaded his sister into revealing everything Alexander had promised her. But she still hadn't said anything to him.
"What did Alexander promise you?!" Klaus said vehemently. "Go ahead, Rebekah, tell them. Tell them what the hunter told you the tattoo leads to. What's this great weapon that could bring about the end of the vampire species?"
Rebekah remained neutral for a moment before answering:
"A cure. He said there was a cure."
"A cure? For vampirism?" exclaimed a bewildered Hope, who suddenly seemed to understand everything.
"That's it," nodded her aunt.
Finally, Hope understood everything. She was in the time of the hunt for the cure for vampirism. Obviously, she knew about the existence of this cure, since it existed in the future. But she assumed a shocked tone so as not to arouse suspicion. But this news worried her. Because it was at the end of the quest for the cure that her father and mother had slept together, leading to her conception. Which meant she was going to have to make sure that the quest for the cure didn't interfere with her existence. If an event were changed, Hope might not be born, and then would cease to exist. No future, no Tribrid, no Hope Mikaelson.
Oh crap! Josie sent me to the wrong time in the past. I'm in trouble!
Yet something else bothered her.
My family has known about the cure for nine hundred years, and they haven't found it in all that time? How is it possible? Why is it the Salvatore and their allies found the cure and not my family?
There was a silence. Klaus and Rebekah remained silent, both sullen. Stefan remained in his thoughts for a moment. Then when Klaus left the table, he started to follow him.
"There is no cure for vampirism!"
"I'm telling the truth, Stefan." Rebekah insisted, getting up in turn.
"Then why wouldn't you have searched for it, found it?" Stefan resumed angrily, staring at Klaus.
In turn, Hope rose from the table, grateful to Stefan for asking the question that intrigued her.
Klaus poured himself a drink, answering:
"Because when the Hunters drew their final breath that night, the marks disappeared from their body. The map was gone, the Brotherhood of the Five extinct. For 900 years, there was not a whisper of another hunter until our friend in there showed up in town."
The Tribrid nodded, relieved to have her answer. Obviously, without the tattoos to guide them, there was no way to find the cure.
"Well, now we have the map, what do we do next?" Rebekah asked annoyed.
"We don't do anything." Klaus declared, looking down at his sister disdainfully. "You can't be trusted, little sister. You'll be blabbing this secret to the first boy who calls you pretty."(He chuckled in amusement, staring at his sister theatrically.) "I mean, it's pathetic, really, isn't it? How she continues to hand her heart to any man who shows her a hint of affection. You think she would have learned by now from the endless cycle of disappointment and deception!"
Hearing her father mocking her aunt's romantic suitors, Hope was already imagining his reaction if she told him about her lover Landon Kirby.
Outraged, Rebekah retorted coldly:
"But I haven't! Instead I stay with you and let you leech every moment of happiness from my life. You know, at least I fared better than Finn. Klaus left him daggered because he was tired of his judgment."
"No!" Klaus contradicts her by going towards her. "Finn was a dullard. He's more interesting lying in a box!"
It was then that Rebekah then understood the reason for her presence at her brother's house.
"You want the cure for Elena, don't you? So you can go back to mass producing your hybrids. That's why you brought Stefan in, 'cause you knew he'd help you even though he hates your guts. And that's why you keep Hope as a witch ally to protect you. You think of her as a lapdog who does whatever you want her to do for you."
"Hey, I'm not a pet!" exclaimed Hope furiously. "You're mad at your brother, but you're leaving me out of your business with him!"
Rebekah calmed down and spoke to the Tribrid.
"I'm sorry, Hope. Believe me, you'd better go now. I know my brother better than you. You'll be much happier without him."
"You don't know me either," retorted Hope feeling her emotions overwhelm her.
Her aunt gave her father a look of hatred.
"You know what, you can shove your cure!"
At her words, she left the Mansion. Hope noticed a mischievous glint in her father's eyes, which upset her even more. She knew that her family was divided before she was born, and she realized that she was really far from knowing everything about the quarrels between her father and his siblings.
She slowly approached him.
"I'm sorry, but I need to get some fresh air. My emotions take over me. I'm feeling kind of restless. I kind of need a release."
Klaus' mischievous gaze disappeared and looked at Hope sympathetically.
"It's okay. Go. I don't need you right now. And take all the time you want."
"Thanks," Hope told him gratefully.
"You're welcome."
She made her way out of the dining room, when her father called her again.
"Hope?"
The Tribrid stopped and stared at her father who spoke to her gently.
"I just wanted you to know that you're not a pet to me. I would never think of you as a lapdog. I will never allow it. You're much more than that to me. I wanted you to know that. Don't mind what Rebekah told you. She was always like that with me."
Hope nodded gratefully, then left the Mansion to go outside, turn into a wolf in order to feel the calm she so needed right now.
After the Tribrid left, Stefan was stunned. Since he had known him, he had never seen Klaus behave with such kindly towards someone. Usually, he'd always known him as a dangerous psychopath, killing people in his path, drinking their blood. And seeing him with Hope, he had seen a part he had never seen at him. Compassion and gentleness. As if he and Hope formed a very emotional bond. It was more than friendship. It was something else.
Slowly, he approached Klaus.
"What's wrong with her?"
But when he saw his enemy turning towards him, he was once again the threatening and dangerous Original Hybrid.
"It's none of your business. Hope's mine. Everything about her is none of your business, Stefan. And spread the word to your brother and friends. If any of you dare go after Hope, either to kill her or even hurt her, I'll kill every last one of you and burn this town completely. Got it?"
"Got it," Stefan replied, nodding. "No one will hurt Hope. Going back to Rebekah, I hoped you got what you wanted out of her before you chased her off."
Klaus resumed his sardonic air by answering:
"She never would have told me what I needed to know. But she'll tell you."
"Yeah," replied the unconvinced vampire. "What do you need me to find out?"
"The map is useless without the tool to decipher it."
"The sword," concludes Stefan.
"She knows where it is." agreed Klaus. "And you're going to get her to tell you. You have a chance to save Elena from the very thing that's going to destroy her. You can call it a deal with the devil if you like but you know you won't walk away from it."
While Hope romp outside as a werewolf, Klaus joined Jeremy who was standing near Connor. There he made a sketch of the hunter's tattoo.
The Original Hybrid watched the young Gilbert draw.
"Nice lines. Now, if you could just hurry it up a little bit."
Annoyed, Jeremy sighed as he passed her his sketch.
"I'm done."
Klaus snatched the sketch from his hands. But he was very disappointed with the drawing he saw. Jeremy had only drawn a small fragment of the map he had seen before, nine hundred years ago.
"What is this?" he snapped, disappointed.
"It's the tattoo."answered Jeremy, not understanding his disappointment.
Disappointed and furious, Klaus grabbed Jeremy by the neck and applied pressure.
"I've seen the tattoo, you repugnant punk. There's more to it."
"That's all of it." replied Jeremy, struggling to breathe.
Then he remembered the conversation he had had with Connor while he was drawing his tattoo.
"He said every time he kill a vampire, it spreads."
Instantly, Klaus released Jeremy and glared furiously at his captive hunter. So he had to complete the mark to reach the cure. And for that, Connor would have to kill other vampires.
"Nate!" Klaus called.
One of his Nate hybrids entered the room.
"Tell the girl to take Jeremy home." he ordered. He pointed at Connor. "Keep this one alive at all costs."
Relieved, Jeremy got up and went to join Nate.
Connor started tugging at the chains that bound his hands. Nate came back and examined the torture table.
"Looks like you got too much leash. You're not going anywhere, so you might as well stop the racket."
As he approached to put them back in place, the prisoner hunter bit his ear. Nate ran his hand over his bleeding ear and came to punch Connor in the face.
"You're lucky I can't kill you. Freak!"
He left the room.
Connor took the opportunity to remove from his mouth Nate's piercing he had extracted from his ear.
Feeling much better, Hope changed back to her human form and got dressed. She then left to join her aunt Rebekah who was walking towards Salvatore Boarding House.
Hope concludes that Stefan had called her at the request of her father. She hastened to join her before she crossed the threshold of the front door.
"Hey Rebekah," said the Tribrid kindly.
"What do you want?" the Original Sister told her suspiciously.
"Just talking to you," Hope replied, shrugging her shoulders. "We're civilized, remember?"
Rebekah nodded and agreed to walk with her until she reached the entrance to the Boarding House. Wanting to bring some comfort to her aunt, Hope spoke to her:
"I heard your story with Alexander and it reminded me of an almost similar situation I went through years ago. The first time I kissed a boy, he lured me into a trap that led to my mom's death. His name was Roman. Just when I thought I was in love with him, he betrayed me. I lost my mom because of this. So I know how you feel."
Rebekah was affected by Hope's story. She gently placed her hand on the Tribrid's shoulder.
"I'm really sorry about your mom. It's horrible! Me too, I thought I was living a beautiful love story with Alexander. And he took advantage of my distraction to stab me in the heart. The same dagger that Klaus uses on my brothers and me when we let him down. You should leave, Hope. It's too dangerous for you."
"I have my reasons for staying with him. And I'm not afraid of danger. I'm used to dealing with dangerous situations."
"You are very brave, Hope," Rebekah told her kindly. "Young, strange, mysterious but very brave."
Hope smiled despite herself.
"Thanks."
The two entered Salvatore Boarding House. Seeing the house as it was in those days was still a shock to Hope who still considered this house hers.
They saw Stefan helping himself to a drink. When he saw them, he walked towards them.
"I got your message." Rebekah told him. "I'm sorry. I know you wanted my help. He just… makes me so angry."
"No one deserves to be treated that way." Stefan told her softly.
Even Hope agreed with him. She stayed behind.
I know my dad isn't perfect, but he shouldn't have talked to his sister like that, Stefan's right. Because I know he loves his family, even though he has a weird way of showing it.
Rebekah walked slowly towards Stefan.
"I wanted it back then. The cure. I was willing to leave behind my family for it."
Hope was pained at this revelation. Her aunt had spent a millennium remaining in the shadow of her father and uncles. She understood her choice to want a life of her own. But this cure wasn't the right thing. She regretted that there wasn't Marcel Gerard in Mystic Falls at that time.
Ignoring Hope, Rebekah was talking with Stefan.
"Would you take it if you had the chance? Or is it just for Elena?"
"Part of me wishes that she and I can have an eternity together." Stefan replied honestly. "But Damon's right: there's not a single vampire who hasn't kill a human. Elena will kill. And then there will be the pain, and the guilt, and then…"
"The humanity switch." finished Rebekah.
"Elena, she's driven by love. By compassion. When she turns off her humanity, then I don't think we'll ever get her back. So I'd do anything to save her."
What Stefan said affected Hope. She had never thought of becoming a vampire. Ever since she had discovered that she was destined to become the true Tribrid to annihilate the Malivore, she had never thought about what it would be like to be a vampire. Her family and even Alaric Salztman had told her about the negative effects of vampirism. If she activated her vampire side, how would things turn out for her? Hope hoped never to find out.
After a brief moment, Rebekah spoke again, looking at Stefan.
"I envy that. You and Elena. I envy the love you have. I really did believe Alex when he said he loved me. He promised we'd be married. We even picked out a church. San Vittore in Brienno. I know you want my help, Stefan. But I just can't do anything that lets my brother get what he wants."
She got herself a drink, then made her way to the exit. As she was about to leave, Stefan called her again:
"I never did answer your question."
Rebekah paused and looked at the vampire who explained to her:
"If it meant that I got to be with her… Have children, grow old with her… If it meant that we'd die together, be buried together… Then, yes. I'd take the cure."
Upset, Rebekah replied with a sad face.
"I buried him. Even after everything. I laid him to rest in the place where we would be married. What kind of hopeless fool does that?"
Hope smiled slightly at the gesture her aunt had made to her former lover. She herself still kept in touch with Roman, even though they were no longer together.
Suddenly, her aunt changed her attitude and looked furious, as if she had just realized that she had been manipulated.
"Ohh. But that's what you wanted to know, isn't it? Because I buried him with his sword."
To her surprise, Hope saw her father Klaus appear in another room of the House, and she understood. Stefan had summoned Rebekah to tell her about where she had hidden Alexander's sword. The sword that could decipher Connor's tattoos.
"I'm sorry, little sister, but you're right." he said softly with a neutral look.
He pulled out one of his daggers.
"You really are a hopeless fool."
Understanding the fate that awaited her, Rebekah wanted to run away at superspeed, but Stefan beat her with his vampiric speed, preventing her from reaching the entrance.
He was shocked to be forced to help Klaus stab his sister.
"I'm sorry, Rebekah." Stefan told her sadly.
Distraught, Rebekah looked around, passing her gaze to Stefan and Klaus. Then she stared at Hope who was very affected to be forced to see her aunt being stabbed by her father. She gave her a look of sadness and helplessness. Klaus was stabbing his sister so she wouldn't disturb him in his quest for the cure.
Hope would have done anything to prevent her father and Stefan from going after Rebekah. She was already imagining spells to attack them and defend her aunt. But she couldn't intervene. She had no place in those days. The slightest act and gesture could destroy her future.
Resigned to her fate, Rebekah glared furiously at Klaus.
"Go right ahead… Laugh at the girl who loved too easily. Well, I would rather have lived my life than yours, Nick. No one will ever sit around the table telling stories about a man who couldn't love."
Hope noticed that her father seemed saddened to be forced to stab his sister. He avoided her gaze, as if he didn't want to look her in the face. Was it fear or regret? At least he wasn't as loveless as her aunt thought. The Tribrid felt her emotions overwhelm her again.
"Do it. Look me in the eye and do it, you coward!" Rebekah roared at her brother. "DO IT!"
Instantly, Klaus stabbed his sister in the heart without looking at her. Rebekah's body withered away in his arms.
Hope ran over and came to help her father support her aunt's limp body. Rebekah was Hope's aunt, and while she couldn't tell anyone who she was, she cared about her too.
They laid him on the couch. Stefan wrapped her in a blanket. Klaus, after communicating over the phone, gave Stefan his instructions in a threatening tone.
"I have a plane waiting. I'll get the sword. My hybrids will keep an eye on Connor. You put Rebekah somewhere no one will find her and make sure Jeremy forgets everything he heard today."
He gave him back Jeremy's ring.
"I'll take care of it." answered Stefan although reluctant to have to obey his enemy.
Sensing that his new ally was not in cahoots with him, Klaus cleared things up for him.
"No one must know about the cure, do you understand? Not Damon, not Elena. Nobody. If this gets out, it could mean all our deaths. So if you tell anyone, I'll erase each and every memory from all of you."
"I won't say anything." retorted the vampire in a categorical tone.
"It's just Hope, you and me in this, Stefan. Some secrets are stronger than family."
Hope was perplexed by her father's directives to Stefan. That Elena didn't know about the cure made sense. She had just started her new life as a vampire, now wasn't the time to give her false hopes with the cure. But Damon? Why put him in ignorance? He would be an ally in obtaining the cure. And Hope knew that Damon was in love with Elena. And he would do anything to make her happy as a human. Also, in the future, it was Damon who was going to offer the cure to Elena to turn her back into a human. Which she will do, before undergoing Kai Parker's sleeping spell.
Soon after, Hope and Klaus had left Salvatore House. They took the car. Klaus was taking the Tribrid home before leaving for the airport. During the drive, Hope began to question her father.
"Why didn't you want Damon to know about the cure? That Elena doesn't know anything yet, I can understand that. But why not tell Damon? You told me he cares about Elena. He would be a great ally in making Elena human. If he's in love with her, he'll do anything to make her human again."
"Or he'll do whatever he wants to do to keep her a vampire," Klaus replied, his eyes fixed on the road. "Damon's not as selfless as his brother. He's a selfish, self-centered man. I don't trust him. Make sure Stefan doesn't tell anyone about the cure."
"Don't worry, I will." Hope assured him.
Then Klaus continued to drive, while looking at his new ally.
"Hope, I found you very emotional tonight." he pointed out to her. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Hope hesitated and finally told him what was bothering her.
"The story your sister told about her relationship with Alexander... It reminded me of a similar situation I had a few years ago. Before Landon, there was another boy. My first kiss. His name was Roman. A 90-year-old vampire. Just when I thought I was having a love affair with him, he betrayed me."
"What happened?" Klaus asked, eager to know.
"He lured me into a trap to kill me with the help of his crazy family. Which resulted in the death of my mom. I was unconscious, I couldn't do anything. At that time, I hadn't triggered the werewolf curse yet. I was vulnerable and defenseless. And it was my mom who died saving my life. Mom was a fighter. Always willing to take risks to protect the people she loved. No matter the danger. Like I told you, I was unconscious, and when I woke up, I was told she was dead. All because I thought I was in love with Roman, and my mother paid the price. So I know how Rebekah must have felt with Alexander when he stabbed her. You and your family were lucky to come out alive, despite what the Hunters did to you. My mom didn't get that."
Klaus softened as he saw the grief in Hope's eyes. He was shocked to learn that the girl's mother had fought for her, despite the fact that Hope was a hybrid. Hope's mom was a real mother, apparently. She loved her daughter deeply so she would die for her. Esther had never fought for Klaus when the latter was being bullied by Mikael. She had let him. He would have given anything to have a mother like the one Hope had had.
"I'm sorry Hope," he said softly in a voice that looked very human. "For your mother. It's horrible what happened to her. She had to be loving and brave. I would have liked to meet her. My mother was very different from her. If she really loved me in the past, she would have defended me against Mikael who was never a father like me…" (He looked at Hope again and looked embarrassed.) "Sorry, I'm still talking about myself, whereas you just told me about a painful memory."
"I miss her every day," Hope replied, staring at the road ahead of her through the windshield.
"Yes I guess so, and this Roman, what has become of him?"
Hope took a breath before answering:
"For a while, I held him responsible for my mother's death. With my father, we caught him, and I tortured him for hours. I had thought of killing him. The thought of him dying had crossed my mind, but then… I couldn't kill him. He had betrayed me, yes, but it wasn't entirely his fault. He spent half of his life desiccated in a cave. And then he was brainwashed by his mother, who was a literal crazy nazi. Roman was trained by the wrong people. He was just a victim, like my mom. That's why I ended up saving him. We remained good friends. But we never got back together. We just keep in touch and that's it."
"Empathy is not a feeling I am close to," revealed Klaus. "But honestly, it's clear that you had good parents who were able to educate you properly. I can well imagine the man your father must have been."
Hope choked back a laugh. If he knew he was talking about himself. Again, she was pained not to be able to reveal to him that she was his daughter.
I am your daughter, you are my Dad. But I can't tell you, because otherwise it would destroy my future. I so wish I could tell you. I hate Josie and time travel.
"My father was a better person," she replied with a smile. "He too fought for me. He would have climbed mountains, swum across oceans, or even traversed deserts to save me. When I was seven, he was like a fairy tale prince to me. My mom told me that he always protected his family, no matter what."
"What a man," Klaus said with a happy look. "I already like him. I would have liked to know him so much."
Hope chuckled at the way her father was talking to himself unknowingly. Then she wanted to change the subject.
"During these thousand years that you have lived, have you ever wondered what your father could look like? No Mikael. Your real father. Have you ever wondered about him?"
The Original Hybrid mused in his thoughts for a moment, then he replied as he drove:
"Sometimes, yes, I sometimes ask myself questions about him. About how he was, for example. I wonder what would have happened if Mikael hadn't killed him. I never had the chance to know him. Mikael killed him right after finding out I was an abomination. But it goes back a thousand years. It was a different time. And he is dead."
"Excuse me, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be indiscreet," Hope said embarrassed. "I don't have to get involved in your personal life. Excuse me—"
"It's okay, Hope," Klaus assured her, smiling. "I am very curious about you. I'd be hypocritical if I blamed you for being curious in return. I now know Roman. And your new friend Landon. I guess he's much better."
"Landon had nothing to do with Roman." Hope replied, smiling at the thought of her boyfriend. "I've known him for a few years, then he moved away. And when we met again, we started dating, when I had decided not to attach myself to anyone anymore. After what happened to my parents, I didn't want other people to have to die to protect me or save me. That's why I don't want to be a damsel in distress. But Landon came along, and everything changed. Landon and I are no different. He didn't have an easy life either. He suffered a lot in his life, but he always held out. Despite what he's been through, he still has a good heart for others. He's a real survivor like you and me. And also like my mom. I'm sure you'd appreciate him."
Klaus chuckled as he replied:
"If you say so. Do you both love each other?"
"I love him very much, more than I can describe, and I will fight for him. I can't imagine a life without him. And knowing him, he would do anything for me. He doesn't let my worries push him away. He is able to fight like a true warrior."
"Love is a very complex thing, in my experience," Klaus said while driving. "I'd to seal my heart because of a woman. The only one I loved, a long time ago. Her name was Aurora. She was the first and last person I loved. One day she decided that I wasn't worthy of loving her, that I was a monster. Afterwards, I never saw her again."
With a pained look, Hope looked at her father. She knew the story of Aurora de Martel. The female vampire who slept in a magical sleep at l'Abattoir in New Orleans. She knew it was actually her uncle Elijah who had compelled her into leaving her father. Would he have become different if Elijah hadn't made Aurora say that about her father?
"I thought I'd never fall in love with a boy after Roman. And yet, there was Landon. If I've been able to open my heart to one boy, there's nothing stopping you from doing the same with a woman other than Aurora."
She thought of Camille, the future psychology student who was going to meet her father, although she was too young to remember her before her death. Or Caroline Forbes, who she knew he flirted with.
"Thank you, Hope, it touches me," said Klaus kindly. "But I don't think I can love anyone anytime soon. My history with Aurora goes back a long way. I've never reopened my heart to anyone else since."
Hope smiled at her dad wanting to change the subject again.
"I'll miss you."
Klaus smiled as he turned to her with a reassuring look.
"I'm not leaving long, I've already planned a team in Italy who are already starting to dig up the place where Rebekah hid the sword with the remains of her deceased boyfriend. In the meantime, enjoy my house with my hybrids."
"Do you have any instructions for me while you're gone? Do I get a curfew?" Hope told him humorously. "No parties at home while you're away? No boys in the house? Bedtime at 10:00? Or else I'm grounded for two months? Although if I invite people, I would have to justify the presence of a supernatural Vampire Hunter shackled to a torture table! Then I'd better avoid surprise parties at home."
Klaus burst out laughing at the Tribrid's humor.
"I'll have my hybrids watch you. You're really funny, Hope. I regrets not meeting you earlier. I'm sure it'll go well and I won't have to worry about you."
Hope smiled at her father remaining silent until the end of the ride.
Later, Klaus had flown to Italy, while the Hybrid Nate took care of keeping Connor prisoner. Klaus had ordered him to guard the hunter and not disturb Hope while he was gone.
But while he was distracted, Connor grabbed him from behind and strangled him with his shackles. Using all his supernatural strength, he strangled Nate until he beheaded him.
Once he picked up the hybrid's severed head, he noticed her tattoo growing all the way down his arm.
He went to Whitmore University. He reached the office of Professor Shane, an occult teacher. As he read in his office, he noticed the hunter approaching him.
"Shouldn't you be in Mystic Falls kill vampires?" he told him in a neutral tone.
But Connor gave him a cold look.
"Why the hell did you send me there?"
