A/N: First of all, I just wanted to thank everyone for checking this out! Will try my best to work on it as much as I can~ Also gonna clarify a couple things real quick just in case: Firstly, Danny (obviously) still became a Halfa–however Lily was there along with Tucker and Sam when the accident happened. So only they know about it. Secondly, this story will primarily be in Lily's POV to give a unique narrative into both her life as well as her influence in the world of DF. If or when I do change the POV, I'll let you know
The scene opens to a cozy cottage, sitting on the outskirts of a small town–which can be seen in the distance. Brief flashing lights of white and blue fill in the front windows every so often, followed by a short murmur that could be barely made out from the outside.
Panning inside its walls reveals two people, a dark haired teen boy and a dark haired young adult woman. They stand across from one another, both posing as if they were preparing for a Mexican standoff in an old western flick. The boy's fingers wiggle slightly in preparation whilst the woman stared at him with an excited gleam in her eye.
Silence fills the air between the two with nothing but the ceiling fan making sound.
…
…
"HANDS!" The woman suddenly commanded, both her hands suddenly covered in ruby scales in perfect timing to her words. She posed them in front of her in a fighting pose before leaping at the other. The boy was startled for a moment before ducking down and sweeping his leg at her feet, only for her to avoid it by jumping to his left. "TAIL!" She called out once more, abruptly sprouting a long red tail as she slammed it into the teen; tossing him to the side before twisting around in preparation to leap at him once more.
The boy widened his eyes for a second before turning invisible, causing the woman to fly through him on his other side. Seeing his chance, he quickly went for a punch–only for his hand to get blocked by the woman's scaled wings suddenly appearing before him. "WINGS!" She said with a sly tone, looking between her wings to give the teen a cheeky grin as she went for a few punches at him; making him dodge or go intangible in defense for a few moments as he then tried to leap at her for a surprise attack.
She simply leaped to the side, hands behind her back, as the boy yelled in surprise before falling halfway through the floor. His upper body being stuck under the floor whilst his muffled yelling filled the air, much to the woman's amusement.
Shaking her head at the ravenette she dispelled her wings and tail, with only her hands remaining reptilian, before reaching down to pick up the teen easily back up from his half-fused state. The boy breathed heavily once he was fully up from the ground and placed lightly on his feet by the other, who leaned her head down towards him with a knowing glint in her eye.
"And THAT is why you need to do those exercises Dan-ny~" she told him as she lightly booped his nose, causing him to huff from exhaustion as well as mild annoyance at her words. "I don't get why I need to "exercise" anything!" Danny whined back, swiping his forehead tiredly before taking a seat at the large sofa that was moved to the side prior to the minor sparring session.
The woman simply grabbed a sealed bottle of water from a mini cooler placed to the side, tossing another to the other as she did so, then sat down next to him. "As someone I knew once said: Even a Falcon needs to learn how to stand before it can fly."
He just gave her a confused look, "And why do I need to know how to fly, exactly?"
She just shrugged nonchalantly at him as she went to uncap her bottle, "Because, it'll help your body get used to all of the changes the best it can." sipping for a moment with a satisfied exhale, she lightly tapped on the younger's wrist with her still-scaled claws with enough care as to not cut through his skin. "These powers of yours are confusing, even to me, and I've seen my fair chance of 'em in my time–oh god I sound old…" she realized with a soft slam to the sofa using the back of her head. Danny huffed quietly in humor at her words, fiddling with the lid of his own bottle as he sent occasional glances towards his hand that was tapped by the woman.
"But, I still have problems controlling this and it's already been over a month since the accident!" he complained, not noticing that he was slowly sinking inside of the couch–which was quickly remedied by a certain clawed hand that held up the back of his shirt nonchalantly until he didn't phase through the sofa anymore. "THIS is another thing!" he continued, gesturing to the woman's scaly appendages; seemingly oblivious to his accidental intangibility. "Why can't I just say I'm a Meta like you? It'd make things a lot easier…True, I'd still be weird but..." He pointed out, only for Lily to sigh in response, "It's not that simple, Dee."
She began to explain as she leaned forward to rest her arms on her knees, her claws reverting back into normal hands as she did so. "Amity Park has always been known as the "Ghost Centre" of the world practically since it was first founded. If someone somehow "coincidentally" obtained the powers of a Ghost, it would just raise too many questions." the ravenette pointed out to the teen, watching as he pursed his lips in dissatisfaction as she continued; "Besides, there's a DNA test out to check for the Metagene; which every new Meta is required to take. And we both know you'll fail that one the moment they pop your blood under a scanner."
'Which I was just lucky enough to get a false positive myself…' Lily thought to herself with another swig of her water. Danny only moaned in despair at her words, slumping down on the sofa in frustration at the woman's words as he chugged down his own water bottle.
Light footsteps then echoed through the room, drawing to two occupants' eyes towards a red headed teen girl coming from another part of the house; drying her hands with a towel as she glanced in their direction. "Hey Lily, I finished the mix, but the stove won't turn on." she explained with a gesture towards the hallway behind her.
Nodding her head in acknowledgement, the woman gives Danny a light ruffle to his head–making him splutter and half heartedly swat at her in response–before standing up. "On it." she replied to the younger girl as she strode past her and into the long hallway. Only hearing the two teens begin to talk for a moment as she walked further down the hall, "So, what were you guys talking about?-" the girl's question echoed through the room for a few seconds before Lily was far enough away to not hear the rest of their conversation.
Along the hallway were four closed doors on either side, one of them being a plain white door having a scroll attached to its front with the words "Bathroom" along with Chinese characters next to it translating the same word. One of the other doors was painted entirely dark blue with various stickers of stars, planets along with the occasional astronaut; a mini sign read "Danny's Room" was also attached with a few cheeky doodles of the boy in question along with a drawing of a satellite.
The third room was decidedly much cleaner, as its only decor was the door being entirely painted with turquoise books with a black background, another sign had the words "Jasmine's Room: Please knock before entering!" with a drawing of a butterfly next to it. The fourth room was painted in half; one side being a light yellowish color with a red Dragon on it whereas the other side was a dark red with a yellow Dragon painted on it, it held up a sign as well with the words "Lily's Secret Lair" with a drawing of scaled wings on either side of the letters. At the end of the hallway was an archway leading to an open kitchenette, a mixing bowl was on an island in the middle of it along with a bit of spilled flour on its tabletop.
The woman approached her target, the stove, as she inspected it closely. After a few moments, her eyes changed into slitted pupils whilst she moved her hands around the stovetop thoroughly.
Grimacing at the appliance's inactivity, Lily then reverted her eyes back to their previous form as she took out a frying pan and grabbed the mixing bowl. She poured out some of the mixture's content into the pan before raising it above her head, breathing out a few brief bursts of flame towards it until sounds of sizzling could be heard from it.
Satisfied, she carefully brought it down to check on how the mixture was sizzling; hearing her younger siblings as they walked into the kitchen as she flipped the mixture onto its other side. "Oh, nice! Crispcakes!" Danny cheered, seeing the older woman making the food in a peculiar fashion, causing the redhead next to him to raise an eyebrow at him.
"I still don't get why you call them "Crispcakes" when they're just regular pancakes." the teen said to the younger, grabbing plates for herself and her brother as she went to sit down at the high chair on the island next to the boy.
Said ravenette could only give his sister a weird look as he gestured to the woman–who had already placed a few pancakes onto their plates–while placing his bottle of water on the table in front of him. "Uh, because Dragon Fire makes the "Pancakes"-" he says with an emphasis on the last word "-a lot more crispy. Making them way better than your lame "softcakes" you like so much." he told her with a gesture towards the mini stack that was on her plate–courtesy of their older sister, who quickly slapped a few of the crispier cakes on Danny's plate–with a look of disgust on his face.
Jazz only scoffed at his words before using her butter knife to spread some raspberry jam onto her pancake stack, "They are not "Soft" they're fluffy." she told him as she raised her head at him confidently.
The eldest sibling only chuckled at the teen's words, scooping a pancake piece with her fork as her sharp fangs glinted from her wide eyed grin, "Pretty sure that's the same thing Jazz." she shook her head lightly at the redhead before creating an odd spark from her mouth to her pancake; making the top of it slowly become more cooked in splotches from the uneven heat traveling to it.
*SMASH*
The trio startled at the sudden noise, distracting them from their breakfast as loud stomps could be heard coming from the hallway–which was now covered in darkness.
Growling fiercely with an inhuman tone, Lily summoned her red scaled wings before leaping towards the doorway of the kitchen. "Stay back!" she ordered her younger siblings as they quickly complied by hopping out of their seats and huddled close together behind the kitchen island out of view.
Just then, two silhouettes appeared with unknown weapons aimed at Lily; who immediately went into action.
She aimed a kick at the pair, getting the large one in the stomach and causing them to slam against the wall whilst the second just barely dodged out of reach. The more nimble figure was quick to launch a counterattack at the woman with some kind of pole-like weapon only to be blocked by her scaled arms that never moved an inch as the pole-like tool was broken in half at the force of her natural armor.
The figure grunted at the impact, covering their face from the shards reflexively as they were slammed into the ground by Lily; who froze the moment she summoned her Dragon eyes to see the person.
A tense silence filled the air with the larger individual groaning in pain as they sat up from their slumped position while the huddling teens poked their heads over the kitchenette island cautiously at the scene. "Are you two SERIOUS right now?!" Lily yelled in frustration before getting off of the slim figure to turn on the hallway light to reveal the culprits to be two people in full body suits; the larger man wearing an orange suit with no mask whereas the nimble one wore a blue suit with a built in mask over her eyes.
Seeing the pair, Danny sighed in relief as Jasmine only glared at them in annoyance before the teens stood in clear view of their hiding place.
"Lily! Are you hunting the Ghost too?!" The large man bellowed joyfully, pausing to shrug some dust off of his shoulders before leaning towards the younger woman with his arms wide open for a hug–which she easily avoided. She only crossed her arms at the man, tapping her–now clawed–hand impatiently on her arm, "First: no I'm not. Second: This is my House and you know it. And three:-" she then gestured to a calendar on the wall; with every mondays to thursdays being highlighted in green, "Today is Monday: Otherwise known as…" she then leaned impatiently at the man with an intimidating aura despite the severe height difference. "My Custody Day. As in: the Day where you two are not supposed to be anywhere near this house until Friday?"
The suited up woman then went between the two with hands raised up in a placating manner towards the younger, skillfully ignoring the downtrodden expression on the man's face as she spoke, "And we remember that very clearly." she began cautiously with an exaggerating wave of her hands; "But, this is all a misunderstanding! We were brought here by the Fenton Finder–" *SLAM*
She was then interrupted by the large man, who brought out the invention in question in triumph as he slammed it down on the kitchen island. "This baby can track Ghosts by using satellites!" he claimed victoriously, ignorant of Lily and Danny sharing a glance whilst Jasmine facepalmed at his words, "We've been fine tuning the sensitivity on this puppy for hours–and we've GOT IT!" He finished with a dramatic pose.
"Well, it's not exactly finished." The other adult piped up, noticing the tension still in the air emanating from Lily's direction.
However, the man just waved her off, "It's just a couple days away, practically done already." he finished. "A Ghost is near." Suddenly a feminine voice rang out from the scanner, beeping faster and faster as the large man moved it towards Danny's direction curiously.
The beeping intensified by the minute as the scanner drew closer and closer to the ravenette until there was a flash of red followed by the man suddenly falling face first; crushing the device in the process. "NO!" he wailed in dismay, with the blue suited woman rushing to pick up the fragments of the device the best she could. The two frantically searched around the kitchen floor as closely as they could, seeming to ignore the flat gaze of the perpetrator as Jasmine threw her hands up in frustration at the sight.
"And here you go again with this weird obsession of yours!" she yelled out in annoyance, "It's always about Ghosts with you two!" she then pulled a startled Danny against herself in a tight hug; ignoring his initial struggle as she continued. "I won't let either of you poison this child's mind any longer! Lily, we'll be in the car." she informed her sister with a final glare to her parents as she maneuvered her brother towards the hallway, leaving the three adults in silence at the teen's sudden proclamation.
The woman in the suit tilted her head at the abrupt behavior, "That's weird. Usually Jasmine is a lot more level headed about our job." the large man squinted his eyes at the hallway at his wife's words; "Then that can only mean one thing: that's not our Daughter. That's a Ghost…" he theorized with a serious tone in his voice as the realization that his family may be in great danger from this unknown threat sunk in…
…unfortunately, he neglected to remember about the more dangerous threat of the two.
*SMASH* *CRASH*
"LILIAN MEI FENTON YOU CALM DOWN RIGHT NOW YOUNG LA–AGH! DID YOU JUST BREATHE FIRE AT ME?!"
Madeline Fenton could only watch on with a sigh.
A/N: Brief explanation time: Lily's relationship with her Father and Stepmother is…strained to say the least. But we'll get to that later. As for her Mother…? Uhhh…we'll get to that later too…much, much later…
Also, question for the Chapter: Do you prefer pancakes to be slightly buttery with some crispiness or soft and fluffy? I prefer a bit of crispiness on mine.
Edit: JUST commissioned an original cover for this fic! :D The artist named TheLadyFuyu can be found on twitter! ^^
