Chapter 6
Jaaku
Naruto was on the second to final mission on Battlefront 2. Currently, he was in the skies of Jaaku in one of the turning points in the Galactic Civil war. Also, it was an obvious nod to the Force Awakens Movie but that's not what Naruto focused on.
Currently, he was focusing on taking out the remaining bombers while avoiding cannon fire. Unfortunately, Iden wasn't as lucky and was shot down and crashed into her father's Star Destroyer.
"Iden? Iden, are you there?" Naruto asked through the communicator.
Moments later, Naruto heard some crackles and other noises through the communicator. Naruto listened in until he heard his former commander's voice.
"I'm still here, but I'm surrounded." Iden said.
"Iden, I'll lend you some air support." Naruto said.
Before Iden could object, Naruto flew by the Star Destroyer and open fire near Iden's position. Iden took cover as she saw Naruto take out multiple Stormtroopers that obscured her path. She let out a sigh knowing Naruto wasn't going to abandon anyone and help where he could.
"Thank you, Naruto." Iden said before making her away across the surface of the ship.
She kept her head down and took cover whenever she could. All the while Naruto performed a couple of more strafing runs. Once clear, Iden made her way inside of the Star Destroyer and stumbled as the Star Destroyer began to shake from all the damage it took.
"Naruto, I'm going to try and get my father off of the ship. Be on standby for orders from the Rebellion." Iden ordered.
"Sure thing, just hurry. You don't want that ship to become your giant metal casket." Naruto said.
Naruto then flew around and shot down any TIE fighters that were in his line of sight. Seeing as how he deviated from the normal route again. Naruto just waited until Iden would come out.
"I wonder how the next level will look." Naruto said knowing the next part was going to be from Kylo Ren's point of view.
After a couple of minutes, Naruto saw the Star Destroyer beginning to plummet with a lone escape pod falling out. Naruto accelerated towards the escape pod where Del had already intercepted her along with Shriv. By the time he got out, he saw Iden pulling Del in for a kiss while Shriv looked away sheepishly as Dio sat on his shoulder.
"Well, that's uh… sweet and all." Shriv said.
"I guess they were eager to celebrate." Naruto said, announcing his arrival.
Shriv just sighed, "Kid, let's just sit this one out." He said.
The two just huddled up with the droids and looked away.
"So, another win for the rebellion." Shriv said.
"Yup." Naruto replied.
"I wouldn't mind a break, but after that more action."
"Yup."
"Those imps are like cockroaches."
"Yup."
"…for the loud guy, you're not good at this." Shriv commented, making Naruto frown.
Before Naruto could retort, the Star Destroyer finally hit the ground. Given how this is another desert planet, the resulting impact caused the sand to fly into the air. Making a wave of sand fly towards them and look like a dust storm.
"Take cover!" Naruto shouted.
Shriv ran towards his X-Wing and locked himself inside. Del and Iden crammed into the escape pod and Naruto ran towards the golden doorway once he saw it.
"Goodnight everyone!" Naruto shouted before diving into the real world.
The next morning
Naruto sighed as he arrived at school, "I wonder how the other two are." He said.
Naruto arrived at class and greeted his friends as usual. He waved at Crimson who nodded at him and gave B a fistbump. Once Naruto took his seat, he waited for the usual morning agenda from the teacher which wasn't too different aside from minor details.
"…and remember. The Homecoming Dance is not mandatory, but school spirit is. So if you want to spread it, there's plenty of room to come and have fun." The teacher said.
As the teacher ended their announcements, Crimson had a rare smile. As she considered an idea suggested a couple of days ago. She also considered the idea of it getting her expelled. Then again, she was sure there was some loophole around what she would do and how to get away with it without getting into trouble.
No longer will Ashford identify her as "Cerise", her conformist name. The school will be taught that she is Crimson and she is what she wants to be.
At the same time, B and Naruto would be ready to record and laugh at the reactions of the other students.
This dance would be filled with a lot of spirit, but not the positive kind everyone expects.
At the end of the day
With no club meeting today, Naruto and his friends went to get some tickets for the Homecoming dance.
"High school memories better be worth the 50$ these tickets are worth." Naruto said.
"You do remember that you're not paying anything, right? Kallen said the tickets are free for club members and athletes." Crimson pointed out.
"I know, but it's a matter of principle. Like sure, we can have a fun time going there or doing anything else, but still. 50$ for a few memories?" Naruto asked.
"Actually, they're worth more depending on inflation. Also, everyone is going to talk about Senior prom being the biggest thing. So…" Crimson trailed off.
She didn't want to be an intellectual that rambled on about money and how it was basically the thing that they needed to have those "special" memories that high school would give them. Then again, Crimson didn't want to pretend that this is some high school movie about doing stupid crap to have fun and kissing that special person in their life.
"I get it, inflation. Economics is the only class I'm excelling at." Naruto said.
"Don't forget about civics. How are you doing perfectly at the most boring subjects?" Crimson asked.
B also gave a gesture that asked the same thing. Apparently the silent boy wasn't doing much better at either class.
"I have no idea. If the next game world I'm stuck in involves Tropico or Civilization, then I guess I have nothing to be afraid of." Naruto replied with a chuckle.
Crimson shook her head as she couldn't comprehend Naruto being a leader. Sure being a manager and being able to comprehend certain decisions is likely but ruling over people and handling difficult situations is another thing.
"Well whatever, I gotta get home. Ennui's parents invited me over for dinner." Crimson said, trying to hide her anxiety.
B placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a gesture that told her to be strong.
"I will, I never thought I would be this scared. They like me, but you know." Crimson said as she shivered slightly.
Naruto was about to question why Crimson was so afraid of meeting Ennui's parents again. He knew she wasn't anxious over trivial things. Then he remembered an important fact about the other goth's parents.
They were morticians but not the ordinary kind.
"Seriously, who works with dead people all the time and still act like cheerful parents from the 1950s?" Crimson asked.
And that was it, despite having a gothic son and being morticians. In other words, people who embalm dead bodies to prepare them for wakes and funerals. Ennui's parents were always smiling, being friendly and cheerful, just behaving like they have been your neighbors for years. Some parents tend to be intense and either resort to violence or drinking, but their constant cheerfulness scares Ennui as well.
"Good luck Crimson, try not to…"
"Choke? Yeah, don't do that. They like to make bad puns about death." Crimson interrupted.
Somehow the scary part about that is Ennui's parents make puns with death as the subject. The death part wasn't scary, parents who make puns were annoying enough that it felt scary.
Ennui then excused herself and left the school for the day. Leaving Naruto and B to think about how to spend the rest of their day.
"So, did you get your suit ready?" Naruto asked his friend.
B replied with a thumbs up.
"Well now I know how I'm spending my Friday night." Naruto said with a sigh.
B snickered before gesturing for Naruto to follow him. Likely to just hang out for the afternoon before heading home for the day. Followed by another day of work in the video game universe.
"Hey B, I never asked. What game worlds did you and Crimson end up in?" Naruto asked.
B raised a finger and opened his mouth to speak.
That night
After an afternoon out and a good dinner. Naruto went to bed thinking he would be in the last level of Battlefront 2. However, he received the wish he received on the night he won the tournament.
Because Naruto suddenly found himself in some typical modern day setting. Where he stood in front of a pair of doors with a red sign above it.
"This is not Battlefront 2." Naruto said, realizing he wasn't in Star Wars anymore.
He was confused, he didn't understand why he wasn't at the Kylo Ren level. Was there a glitch? Did something change? Did the threat that DiZ mention cause it somehow? Naruto didn't know and while he wanted to stop and investigate or even ask questions. All he could do was stare at the bright red sign that was in front of him.
Devil May Cry
"You're kidding." Naruto said before forcing himself to go inside.
The next thing Naruto knew, he was in a strange place with monster heads hanging on the walls with swords embedded into them. However, he immediately put that aside and looked at the owner of the establishment who sat down with his feet up on the table. The half demon, half human with his iconic white hair and red outfit.
"Welcome to Devil May Cry, are you the new guy?" he asked.
"New guy?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah, I'm your new boss. Call me Dante." Dante said.
Naruto nodded and was about to respond when Dante got a call on the phone.
"Devil May Cry." Dante said into the phone.
Naruto took a minute to adjust to the setting. Before he remembered something and looked back at the doors. He remembered that at any moment, the doors would break down and introduce Trish.
"Sorry, we close at 9." he said before hanging up.
'A sword is supposed to break through here, right?' Naruto asked, not remembering the next sequence of events.
"Hey new guy, are you ready for your training?" Dante asked.
"Sure boss, I'm just… shit!" Naruto cursed as he dived away.
A second later, a whole motorcycle came crashing through the door. Of course, Dante didn't take the danger too seriously.
"Woah! Slow down babe. You almost killed my new employee." Dante said as Naruto stumbled upward.
"We have insurance right?" Naruto asked.
Dante and Trish ignored him as the latter approached the desk.
"So, you must be the handyman that takes on any dirty job. Am I correct?" Trish asked.
"Almost," Dante said as he stood up. "I only take special jobs. If you know what I mean." he said as he grabbed his sword.
Dante and Trish stared each other down. Looking like they were about to fight. With Trish only further antagonizing Dante.
"You're the man who lost a mother and a brother to a demon over 20 years ago. The son of the legendary dark knight, Sparda. Isn't that right, Mr. Dante?" Trish asked.
"With every demon that comes to me that I take out. It's only a matter of time until the right one comes to me." Dante said as he walked up to her.
Naruto took cover and knew how this would end. Seconds later, Trish was kicking Dante around and sent him crashing onto a table. With Trish then stabbing him with his own sword and electrocuting him and taunting him about Dante being supposedly strong due to being Sparda's son. To add more pain, Trish threw her motorcycle at him.
"Time to go to work." Dante said before shooting around a hundred bullets at the motorcycle.
Which caused the motorcycle to fly back at Trish and nearly hit her. Dante then stood up and acted like the sword in his chest was no more than a decoration.
"New guy, do you mind taking out the trash?" Dante asked.
Naruto groaned at the command but Trish spoke up again before he had to do anything.
"Wait, I'm not your enemy. I need your help." She said.
Dante gestured for Naruto to get ready. Naruto sighed and just grabbed a sword off of the wall just to humor him.
"I need to put a stop to the underworld." Trish said as she removed her sunglasses.
"Maybe you can just knock on the door like a regular person." Naruto said before Trish ignored him.
"Get the broom, new guy." Dante said.
Naruto looked at the mess and saw a fire starting up. He knew Dante was more serious in this game compared to later ones but wondered if he was kidding.
"The broom will catch fire." Naruto replied.
Dante ignored him while Trish told her story.
"Mundus, he's a demon that was sealed away by Sparda. Now he's free and wants to take control of the human world. His location is on Mallet Island." Trish said.
And then came the transition.
Mallet Island
Upon arrival, Naruto and Dante stood under the gate with a long path leading up to a castle in the distance.
"Don't fall behind." Dante told him.
Naruto nodded and followed after Dante through the long yet simple path. By the time they arrived, the place was empty aside from a few floating red orbs. Which Naruto and Dante proceeded to collect by hopping around like Mario after eating a few mushrooms.
Only after that, were they finally able to move onto the next room. Where they proceeded to do a lot of extensive property damage.
"New guy, here's an important lesson, always check to see if anything valuable is hidden." Dante said.
"Understood, break shit until colorful orbs pop out." Naruto replied.
A cliche is a cliche, but it's also a habit in every video game. Even the ones where you got nothing whatsoever from breaking stuff.
After breaking through a few boxes and suits of armor. Naruto and Dante explored the castle. With Dante finding a puppet standing on its own with a key on hand. However, once Dante took it, he jumped to the side once Naruto started shooting at the puppet.
"Second lesson, not everything breaks. Now put those down." Dante commanded.
"Do you really want me to do that?" Naruto asked.
Dante then turned and saw the puppet come to life. Along with another one coming down from the ceiling and trying to attack Naruto. Both puppets were armed with blades on their hands and further proved the danger.
"I guess I'm losing my touch." Dante said before dodging a swing.
He then countered with several quick slashes which destroyed the puppet. He turned back to Naruto who swung wildly at the second puppet until it died.
"Let's get out of here." Dante said.
"…you're welcome." Naruto said as Dante waved him off.
Then after a couple more minutes of extensive property damage. The pair made their way back to the main room of the castle and found the door which required the key. Where they were once again attacked by a wave of sentient puppets.
"This is why I don't support struggling artists." Naruto said before getting slashed from behind.
"Less talking, more shooting and slashing." Dante said before bisecting two puppets.
Naruto adjusted to a fighting style. He wasn't fighting silly enemies from Spyro or soldiers in Battlefront. These were demons and other things that wanted to end his life in more animalistic ways.
'I might want to ask my mom to teach me how to use a sword again.' Naruto thought before parrying a bladed attack.
Once the puppet stumbled back, Naruto thrusted his sword into it and destroyed it. He then looked towards Dante who then approached a strange sigil with oddly shaped writing on it.
"This thing is activated by my powers." Dante noted before repeatedly slashing it until the sigil came to life.
Seconds later, the floor turned into a small platform that lowered Dante into a lower floor. Naruto jumped down the hole and followed Dante. Where they were once again surrounded by multiple puppets who charged at them.
"Don't tell me you're tired, new guy." Dante said as he drew his guns.
"Far from it." Naruto said as he drew his sword.
Dante mowed down the first couple of puppets. With Naruto jumping into the air and bringing down his sword and destroying one of the puppets. Where he then parried incoming blades that tried to take his head off.
"Don't slow down." Dante ordered before destroying those puppets.
Naruto nodded at Dante before doing a backflip to avoid more attacks. He then thrusted his sword and defeated another puppet before repeatedly slashing the last one.
"You're good, but we're far from done." Dante told him as he unlocked the next door.
Naruto shrugged his shoulders and continued following Dante through this house of horrors. It's funny to consider that this was meant to be a Resident Evil game during development.
'I wonder if B and Crimson are having any difficulty with their games.' Naruto thought.
Meanwhile, on Installation 04
On one of the beaches on the strange ring shaped world. A small firefight between the Covenant and UNSC that ended in favor of the humans.
"Take that ya sons of bitches. We have two, count 'em, two spartans!" Chips Dubbo exclaimed.
And true to his word, the marines won with the help of the Master Chief and B. Ironically, B's callsign is registered as Spartan-833 to remind everyone of his nickname.
"What would we do without an extra pair of hands?" Cortana asked within the Master Chief's helmet.
As usual, the Master Chief responded with silence. A language that only B was capable of speaking. If anyone paid close attention, they could hear a whole conversation going on through their silence.
Minutes later, once the Covenant were completely cleared out by the marines. A Pelican arrived and dropped off a Warthog.
"You know our motto Cortana. We deliver." The pilot, Foe Hammer, said.
"I call the turret." B said through a few gestures.
The Master Chief nodded and took the driver's seat. With Chips deciding to hop on the passenger seat.
"I call shotgun!" Chips exclaimed.
"Chief, how do you two communicate? I don't register that other guy's body language or gestures as sign language or anything." Cortana said.
"He just speaks my language." The Spartan said before driving off.
After a fairly lengthy drive, the trio found themselves coming across a group of Covenant that were taking cover in a metallic structure.
"The cartographer is in there. We will have to clear this place out if we want to reach it." Cortana pointed out.
'Leave it to Cortana to point out the obvious.' B thought as he opened fire on the squads of grunts.
The initial wave of enemies were not too difficult to deal with. However, things got a bit more tricky once the two Spartans entered the structure and fought through a narrow corridor. Luckily, it did get more simple once B threw two frag grenades into the path.
"Waaahhh!" a grunt screamed before being killed by an explosion.
With a few more grunts and an elite killed by the blast. B continued leading the way before getting punched by an elite who screamed at him wildly. B then ducked under the next punch before smacking the elite with the back of his assault rifle, causing their shields to disable. The elite screamed in anger and rushed at him in a frenzy.
Luckily enough, that was enough time for B to shoot the elite to death. With that done, he looked for the Master Chief and saw the iconic Spartan handling a trio of elites without difficulty.
'I guess this is what "Lore Accurate" Master Chief looks like.' B thought as he watched.
B watched as the Master Chief kicked an elite in the chest with enough force to make it fall to their knee. He then turned it around and used it as a human shield to take out another elite before facing the final elite. The third elite shot and killed their comrade by mistake before angrily rushing at the Master Chief.
Only for the elite to be grabbed by the arm and flipped over the Master Chief. Who then promptly drew his pistol and repeatedly fired bullets into its head.
B couldn't help but nod as he was impressed by the fighting skill. However, his thoughts were interrupted by Cortana.
"Hurry! You can't let them close that door!" Cortana warned.
B turned and saw a pair of elites by a doorway. One stayed behind the doorway while another opened fire on him. B ran straight past the elite and avoided plasma fire before diving through the doorway. Perhaps it was the adrenaline or blind optimism, but B ended up changing up the mission by sliding through as the doorway locked behind him.
B didn't realize the change he caused before the elite that was inside with him activated an energy sword, revealing itself to be a zealot. The silent boy dodged and avoided each attack before unloading his clip into the elite and breaking past its shields. Prompting it to scream in rage and swing wildly at him.
"Wort wort wort!" it exclaimed as it hit B.
Luckily for him, it only knocked out his shields and gave him the chance to recover. After a few more near death swings, B rolled behind the zealot. Where he picked up a nearby plasma rifle and finished off the zealot before it could reach him again. However, that's when he realized the mess he got himself into.
'Wait, where is the chief?' B wondered as he looked outside.
He saw the Master Chief shooting and punching the door but had no way inside. B proceeded to kick the door but it would not budge and he couldn't see any devices he could tamper with.
'I wasn't supposed to be here yet.' B thought as he remembered the level.
"Spartan-833, the door is locked and we do not have the firepower to break through the door. The Master Chief and I will have to find another way through. You're free to sit tight if you want." Cortana said through the communications link.
B nodded and watched as the Master Chief gave him a nod in return before running back outside. B then looked around the room and sighed. He was grateful at the very least that he wasn't dead yet and that he wouldn't have to go through the tedious part of opening the door through the very long way.
'I remember this level used to frustrate Naruto. Along with that one where we follow Guilt Spark around.' B thought before exploring.
If he didn't want to do the tedious journey of opening the door. He didn't want to wait a half hour for the chief and Cortana to open the door and come back.
The journey continued with B navigating through the eerie metal structure of Halo. He blasted past many elites and grunts along with a few jackals that tried to take him out. What made this experience somewhat frustrating was the frequent appearance of hunters. The big brutes would always appear every couple of minutes and B was regretting not having rockets to help kill them.
But after a long harrowing journey, B came across a terminal where a hologram projection of blocks combing to shape a ring. B instantly realized this was the cartographer and began to download the information to share with Cortana. Then he received a distressing signal from the Foe Hammer.
"Cortana, you have two waves of enemies heading towards your location." Foe Hammer warned.
"Acknowledged. Spartan 833, prepare yourself. The Master Chief and I are about 5 minutes out and have unlocked the doorway." Cortana said.
B nodded and started making his way out. Where his journey was filled with more enemies as he slowly worked his way out of the structure. However, as he began to escape, B started to get a distorted message that took a while to come out clearly.
"Beverly, can you hear me? This is DiZ." DiZ said.
B frowned at being called by his real name before attempting to send a signal to verify that he heard DiZ.
"I know this is sudden, but I have received an update that you must share with your allies. I have uploaded it in the same place where you received the information on the ring shaped world." DiZ explained.
B nodded and sent a confirmation.
"If necessary, share the information with your ally, the artificial intelligence." DiZ said, referring to Cortana.
B shrugged his shoulders and decided to trust DiZ on that. He didn't have Clank anymore, so maybe Cortana herself would be willing to help out. Hopefully without turning into her evil self from Halo 5.
Regardless, B fought his way back towards the exit. Where he found himself facing another grunt squad led by an elite.
B took cover and killed the first pair of grunts that met his crosshairs. With the elite taking cover and throwing a plasma grenade in an attempt to scare him out of cover. However, the elite and remaining grunts wouldn't be able to try and finish off B as a rocket hit the floor where they stood. Sending the entire squadron flying around the room like ragdolls.
B returned to cover and peeked out the corner to find the Master Chief had arrived.
"I hope you didn't feel lonely without us." Cortana joked while the chief was reloading the rocket launcher he now carried.
B shook his head and came out of cover. He then approached the chief and Cortana was able to work her way into getting the information that B had obtained.
"Aw, you shouldn't have. Now, let's continue this road trip underground." Cortana said before contacting Foe Hammer.
A few minutes later, a Pelican arrived right outside the structure.
"Echo-419 has arrived and is on standby. Where to, Cortana?" Foe Hammer asked.
Cortana sent the location of their next destination the moment B and the chief entered the pelican.
"This is underground. I don't understand this." Foe Hammer said.
"It's a man made structure. I'll give you the details on the way." Cortana told her.
The Pelican then flew away, leaving behind Chips Dubbo who would miraculously appear again later. At the same time, B tapped on the Master Chief's shoulder and said that he wanted to talk about something. Which initially confused the chief but decided to pass the details onto Cortana.
"Ah… what is this? I don't understand… woah! This is going to take a moment to process." Cortana said upon receiving the information DiZ provided.
It might take the AI more than a couple of days to understand what was going on and team up with B. Especially when she ends up realizing that the information is much bigger than Halo itself.
The next day
While the real world was relatively safe in comparison to the game world. That didn't stop the boys from feeling a rush of adrenaline. While they were fighting aliens, demons, robots, monsters and generally anything that's capable of trying to kill them. The gym teacher decided to try his hand at making Naruto and B feel like they were running for their lives.
"My 70 year old grandmother jogs everyday around her block at 7 am. I don't see her crying about it unlike all of you!" the gym teacher shouted.
Currently, the gym teacher was making the boys run laps for ten minutes. As part of some practice for a future fitness exam coming in a month or two. Ironically, gym class is the easiest class to pass since the basic requirement is to arrive and participate. The gym teacher really seemed to enjoy making everyone feel like they were dying.
"Fresh cool air, no hot sun and lots of cold water is available to you. You think they gave me any of that when I was shipped off to boot camp?" the gym teacher asked.
"Was this guy really in the army?" Ennui asked, struggling to keep up with Naruto.
"You want me to ask him?" Naruto asked.
Ennui looked back at the gym teacher who was a tall muscular middle aged man. Assuming he really wasn't in the military, he already looked pretty intense. It didn't help that his last name is Hatchet and that it's his confirmed legal name.
"I'm going to shut up." Ennui said.
Naruto then started to speed up in his jog and ran past the gym teacher.
"Good speed Uzumaki, but can you keep it steady for three minutes?" the teacher asked.
"Sure thing, Coach Hatchet." Naruto replied.
"I wanna see him try." Coach Hatchet said.
Seconds later, he saw B run past him at a fair speed but then saw some more skinny and a few brawny looking students starting to die from exhaustion. Including Rivalz who looked like he was about to die from a stroke.
"This has to be illegal." Rivalz complained.
"This amount of exercise is so wrong." another student said.
"I'm dying over here!" a third student yelled.
Coach Hatchet blew his whistle loudly at them.
"Move your asses! I see B running just fine and he's no bodybuilder! Move it before I replace my whistle with a firework!" Coach Hatchet threatened.
"Yes, Coach Hatchet." the students said as they dragged their feet for the remaining few minutes.
A few minutes of disappointment in the coach's eyes as he can see who was bound to fail. He may be harsh, but he hasn't seen anything this pathetic. He didn't want to body shame either but if someone as large as B could move that fast, then he expected better from a few boys who had less meat and more muscle.
"Hit the showers, all of you. The stench of failure is so bad, it made an onion cry." Coach Hatchet said before walking away.
Naruto sighed as he made his way into the showers.
A few minutes later
After a good shower, Naruto started stretching his body and hearing some popping noises coming from his joints. When he went into his locker, he noticed something in the mirror. Naruto double checked and noticed some muscle developing. He wasn't exactly skinny or super muscular, but he did feel like something was definitely different compared to a week ago when he ran laps last time.
'When was the last time I got any real exercise for myself?' Naruto wondered.
Naruto didn't flex or anything, but just tapped on different parts of his arms and chest. Where he definitely felt his skin start to harden rather than stretch out.
'Maybe mom changed diet plan or something.' Naruto thought before getting dressed.
As Naruto exited the locker room with his backpack hanging over his shoulder. He unlocked his phone and saw a familiar glitch pop up again. It took him a moment to try and fix it before his screen reverted to normal and continued normally.
'I should ask B to check my phone for viruses or something.' Naruto thought before walking out the door.
For he had a new mission and it was one that would be as tedious as Coach Hatchet's testing.
Naruto would get fitted for a suit!
That night, in the Gameverse
Naruto continued where he left off and returned to exploring the castle. After going through more perilous dangers along with a new enemy in the form of the reapers. Naruto and Dante came across a sword called Alastor. Then they continued with a challenge incoming "the Pride of the Lion".
"And now it says we have to retrace our steps. Literally." Naruto said after reading the updated plaque.
"Lesson six, never backtrack if you don't need to. Unfortunately, this means backtrack when it is necessary." Dante said before crossing a bridge.
"I feel like you just said that I mess with meeeeeeee!" Naruto shouted as the bridge shook violently.
Moments later, the bridge broke into multiple pieces with Naruto and Dante falling into the water below them. Luckily Dante could breathe and move well while Naruto himself had great difficulty in the beginning.
Which became worse as they reached the platform needed to return to the surface. Things only became bad when six floating skulls began to charge at them.
Naruto began swinging wildly and destroying half of the skulls before Dante took out the rest. Once done, they were able to use the lift back up the surface onto dry land.
"Hey, new guy, remember lesson four. Don't drown or burn." Dante said as he walked up to the doors.
Naruto sighed and wondered how Dante organized his lesson plan. He didn't think much of it before heading back inside of the castle. Where they saw a stone with a carving of a lion on it.
"I'm guessing that must be the Pride of the Lion." Naruto said.
Dante nodded and ran towards the Pride of the Lion. Just as he collected it, a giant stone spider held together by lava came crashing down through the ceiling and marched up to Dante.
"Oh, I thought you were bigger." The demon, Phantom, said.
Dante tapped Phantom's stone legs, "Says the guy hiding behind his stone body." He mocked.
Phantom growled, "I'll make real quick work of you and the brat that's behind me." he said.
"Just try me." Dante said before jumping backwards and drawing his guns.
Dante immediately opened fire on Phantom who blocked the bullets with his stone legs. However, Naruto jumped in soon after and attacked Phantom's weak spots, making the spider shaped demon hiss in pain.
"You're going to die first, brat!" Phantom yelled as he turned to face Naruto.
Phantom then began to shoot large beams made of fire which Naruto had to dodge quickly. Luckily, Naruto didn't have to exhaust himself as Dante slashed at Phantom's neck with Alastor.
"Hey! Focus! This is a handicap match!" Dante said, earning the ire of the demon.
Phantom growled as he started shooting another beam of fire that made Dante jump away. Dante then switched to his shotgun and began firing on Phantom's face, noticing that's where his biggest weak point is.
Which Naruto also took advantage of by repeatedly shooting at as well.
"Let me guess, Lesson number so-and-so, aim for the face?" Naruto asked.
"Basically." Dante answered with a smirk.
"I will be your demise!" Phantom screamed before hitting Naruto with his tail.
Naruto also made a note on a new lesson to give to himself. One where he needs to prepare for random attacks. The first step, know whether to dodge, block or take a risk and attack while the enemy is open. After that, predict the movement in order to prepare for the attack.
Or was it the other way around.
"Kid, get up! We're not done with this stupid thing!" Dante exclaimed as he kept firing.
Phantom roared as he continued to unleash waves of fire. Which Dante avoided before jumping into the air and slashing down towards Phantom's head. Phantom then slapped Dante away with his claws and sent him crashing a few feet away.
'This thing used to annoy the hell out of me back in the day.' Naruto thought as he glared at Phantom.
Phantom continued to fire on him from a distance before Naruto came close and thrusted his sword into its face. He then slashed at it several times before jumping away from the next attack. Then repeating the attack several more times until Dante raised Alastor into the air and used his Devil Trigger, gaining a demonic form capable of flight.
'Time to take cover.' Naruto thought as he jumped over Phantom who tried to pinch him.
Naruto started shooting at Phantom again to get his attention. Giving Dante the chance to rapidly shoot Phantom with lightning attacks which bypassed his stone flesh. Phantom eventually gave up and burrowed under the floor and escaped.
"Coward!" Naruto shouted.
"Well that wasn't fun. Let's go kid." Dante said before running towards one of the doors.
Once through, the pair ran down the corridor but were stopped by the whole place beginning to shake. Phantom then appeared again and started chasing them. Naruto ran ahead of Dante but was pulled back by the white haired man and dragged into a random room. A few seconds later, the shaking stopped and that was enough to say that Phantom had lost them.
"Maybe I should limit the insults." Naruto said.
He then looked and saw that they were in the courtyard again with the fountain in the center. However, before they got moving again. A shadowy creature with red eyes came out and started attacking them.
"And here comes another headache." Naruto said.
"Next lesson, stop complaining." Dante said before he jumped away from the shadow creature and fired on it.
After what felt like a thousand bullets being fired. The Shadow died and the door above the broken stairs was unlocked.
However, once through there, Naruto and Dante navigated through the stairway and killed all the demons in the way. Where they would eventually reach the top and see a sword sticking out on a pillar that was separated from the stairway.
"I got it." Naruto said before jumping across the gap and grabbing it.
Once the sword was taken, Naruto noticed it wasn't real but kept it on his person. He then followed Dante into a bedroom and found nothing that stood out. Except for a bust that had a strange keyhole on it with an inscription.
"Hey kid, place the sword through here." Dante said.
Naruto did as he was instructed but then looked in the mirror next to the bust. Where he saw a demonic figure flash before a demonic looking statue came crashing out. Naruto jumped back in surprise before Dante grabbed him by the back of the shirt and dragged him outside. The two then ran away from the demon and made their way into a small plaza area where the demon found them.
"Kid, that comment about the second headache you made. I think this is what you should have saved it for." Dante said as he raised Alastor.
"You would have told me to stay quiet anyways." Naruto replied.
"Well now I want you to go as loud as possible on this thing." Dante said as Nelo Angelo charged at them.
Dante and Naruto dodged the first strike before slashing at the demon. Nelo Angelo blocked the quick attacks before kneeing Dante and sending him across the ground. Where he then focused on Naruto and used a lot of pressure to break his defense. Only to then miss a critical strike as Naruto then began to shoot at his back.
Before the demon boss could target him again. Dante activated his Devil Trigger and delivered a flurry of blows onto Nelo Angelo that forced him to retreat. Dante jumped onto the castle wall and chased after Nelo Angelo who then blocked most of his attacks before locking swords with Dante.
Naruto quickly joined in and thrusted his own sword into Nelo Angelo's back. The demon overpowered Dante then slapped Naruto away. The teen then quickly rolled away before Nelo Angelo could decapitate him. Naruto then got up and fired at Nelo Angelo who quickly blocked each bullet before slamming into him and knocking him to the ground again.
"Okay, I am tired of being treated like a ragdoll!" Naruto yelled before avoiding being stabbed again.
Naruto then jumped into the air to avoid a heavy slash. Before then finding himself avoiding a powerful energy blast from Nelo Angelo's palm. Nelo Angelo then turned his attention to Dante by blocking his downward strike. Nelo Angelo blocked Dante's next few strikes before firing another energy blast that Dante narrowly avoided.
Dante then thrusted his sword into Nelo Angelo who countered with a flurry of strikes. Sending Dante flying back but leaving himself exposed to Naruto who struck him from behind. Nelo Angelo quickly knocked Naruto's sword out of his hand and gripped him by the throat. Forcing Naruto to draw his gun and repeatedly shoot Nelo Angelo in the face until he was dropped.
But the demon didn't let up until Dante struck him hard from behind. Forcing Nelo Angelo to drop Naruto and retreat to a higher point of the castle. Challenging Dante to come after him again with the white haired man following after him.
"Don't let up kid, he's running out of places to run." Dante said as he caught up with Nelo Angelo.
Naruto groaned as he rubbed his sore neck. As Naruto ran after Dante, he started thinking about his own abilities and wondered if he had his own Devil Trigger. The system was different in this game compared to the sequels, but he decided to try something new despite lacking a weapon to give him a devil form.
'If I can't transform, maybe I can still use the same energy onto my guns. It's how I did it the first time when I was a dumb little kid.' Naruto thought.
After a bit of tampering, Naruto tapped into his energy and started shooting lightning shaped blasts at Nelo Angelo. The demon struggled to turn away and face Naruto as Dante refused to give him a chance to better position himself. Naruto didn't stop pulling the trigger for even a moment until his energy ran out and was back to using ordinary bullets.
"Damn it!" Naruto shouted as he stopped shooting.
Luckily for him, Dante disarmed Nelo Angelo and engaged him in close quarter combat. Which didn't end well for Dante who was knocked down to a lower wall of the castle. Dante quickly tried to get up but Nelo Angelo started suffocating him with one arm. Only to stop as he saw the necklace that Dante was wearing. It also didn't help that Naruto found his sword and threw it at him, making him stumble backwards.
As Nelo Angelo collapsed, he gripped his head and looked like he was in pain before turning into orbs of light and floating towards another part of the castle.
Leaving Dante alone with Naruto who ran by his side.
'That's one interesting family reunion.' Naruto thought as he knew the demon was Vergil.
"How are you doing kid?" Dante asked as he panted.
"I should be asking you that." Naruto said.
Dante waved him off and took a moment to catch his breath. When Naruto noticed the golden doorway leading back to reality.
"Maybe you should take five." Naruto suggested before making his way towards the doorway.
It was a bit of a frustrating night with the two boss fights but it was all over now. However, Naruto would have a different type of boss fight once he returned to reality.
The next morning
The next morning, Naruto woke up with a loud groan before hearing Kushina knock on his door.
"Naruto, breakfast is ready. Hurry before your siblings eat it." Kushina said.
Naruto sighed as he got up but before he could walk out the door. He heard a pinging noise coming from his phone. He turned it on and was surprised to get a strange message.
"I know it's last minute, but can you be my date for the Homecoming Dance?"
Naruto blinked in confusion and reread the message a couple of times to make sure he read it correctly. His initial thought was that this was a prank or a spam message, but saw the message came from one of his contacts.
"I guess I won't be going stag tonight." Naruto said before texting back.
That afternoon
Kushina was initially disappointed and a bit irked that Naruto wanted to go stag. She thought it was stupid as high school events like the dances were not meant for hanging out with friends or just hanging out alone in general. Then her spirits were instantly raised when Naruto revealed that he got a date at the last minute.
So now she was going overboard with his suit.
"I don't need a vest! Where did you even get it!?" Naruto asked as Kushina made him wear a vest with his outfit.
Kushina just laughed in response as she made sure her son looked handsome. Not in a way where he looked like a doll with his hair gelled in a certain way or looking like he was going to an uptight church. Just well enough that Naruto looked nice for a pretty girl to meet and still be able to move.
"The vest adds a sense of class. Class, looks and knowledge are all your father had back in my day. So I'm letting you use his vest." Kushina said.
"Dad kept his dress clothes from high school!?" Naruto asked.
"Yes and we both still have our cap and gowns from our graduation as well." Kushina said before finishing with his jacket.
"Mama, you turned big brother into a dandy." Arashi commented.
"Incorrect, I made him into a well dressed handsome boy. He's only good looking because he looks like me." Kushina joked as she tapped the side of Naruto's face.
"Stop that." Naruto said, moving his mother's hand.
Kushina laughed before using a lint roller on his suit jacket and pants. After that was done, she forced a few mints into Naruto's mouth and almost made him choke.
"Damn it mom!" Naruto cursed.
"Don't give me that tone. I'm not expecting you to kiss pretty girls, but I've been around idiots who pick up a come and not a toothbrush." Kushina said.
Despite how exotic her red hair was. Kushina was beautiful in her youth as she was in the present day. Which earned the attention of a few guys who Kushina really didn't like. Sure maybe some had nice faces but their self confidence was disgusting as their breath. Sometimes it was more of a matter of bad cologne that irritated her eyes.
Luckily Ashford Academy was more strict on cologne, perfumes and similar cosmetics that can affect someone's eyes and nose. Unlike some schools that have rules against them but don't bother to enforce them. If Coach Hatchet was the one in charge, he would drag all the smelly students outside and spray them with a hose.
"I know, don't be stinky. Can I go now?" Naruto asked.
"Oh right, you still have to pick up your date? Right?" Kushina asked.
"Yeah, one of my friends got a limo for all of us to share a ride in." Naruto said.
Kushina raised an eyebrow but didn't think much of it. Limousines were already pretty expensive to rent and sharing a ride with some friends was not unheard of. Sometimes friends like to meet up and do a photoshoot before heading to their dances.
Her thoughts were cut off as she heard a horn and saw a limo outside by her sidewalk.
"That must be them." Naruto said as he walked up to the door.
"Bye, have fun but be careful. Also, don't drink anything unless you got it for yourself." Kushina warned as Naruto left.
"Kushina, it's not that kind of party." Minato spoke up.
"Oh quiet you." Kushina said before she walked into the kitchen.
Arashi followed after his mother while Mito came out of her room and looked out the window.
"Daddy, big brother looks like a dandy." she said to her father.
"Just wait until you're in high school. Since you're a girl, your mother will get more work done on you." Minato replied as Mito got scared.
Mito started to imagine her mother trying to tamper with her hair, nails and what shoes and dress to wear. She immediately ran back into her room to hide.
Minato just laughed at how silly his daughter was being.
In the limo
Once inside, Naruto saw B in a suit and was greeted with a wave. Naruto then turned and saw Ennui and Crimson still looking normal much to his confusion.
"Did you guys chicken out or something?" Naruto asked.
"Nope, we're going to go in last." Ennui said.
"We're going to change while you guys go in. Our real outfits are too big to fit in the limo." Crimson added.
Naruto nodded, he can imagine whatever horror themed outfits they would wear. If it meant they would struggle with entering and leaving the limo then it had to be flashy. As well as nightmare-inducing with how big it must be.
"So, how did you guys get a limo?" Naruto asked.
"My uncle Ed owns a business that provides party buses and limos." Ennui said.
"I expected you to say hearses." Naruto said.
"That's my other uncle's business." Ennui replied.
B snorted at the extra bit of information. He then reached for a bottle of water from a nearby compartment and hanged back before they reached another house.
"Here I go." Naruto said as he opened the door and sighed.
After Naruto left to pick up his date. B was once again alone with the goth couple. With him being naturally silent and the goths not being too conversational. The driver would often wonder if his passengers were alive with how quiet it was back there. Sometimes wondering if it's his imagination when he hears them speak.
Until now that is.
"Hey B, have you been working out?" Crimson asked.
B gave her a confused look as he looked at his body. He was still pretty big and while the suit did feel tight in some areas. He was very far from being slim.
"I'm just saying, you're looking thinner lately." Crimson pointed out as Ennui nodded in agreement.
B raised an eyebrow as he looked at his arms and stomach. Still nothing out of the ordinary but lately he's felt less tired and did move a lot faster during gym class. He shook his head and didn't think about it much.
With Naruto
Naruto sighed and dusted himself off while clearing his mind. The last thing he wanted to do was stumble on his words and look like an idiot in front of his date or her parents if they were the ones to answer.
'Calm down Naruto, she asked you. Besides, it's not like she asked you out on a date.' Naruto thought to himself.
He rang the doorbell and a moment later, his date opened the door.
"You look spiffy." She said with a light smile.
"You look really nice too." Naruto replied.
"Is that all you have to say?" She asked.
"I'm a bad poet. I thought you knew that by now, C.C.." Naruto told the green haired girl.
C.C. wore a simple yet elegant navy blue dress with maroon accents and a simple flower shaped sash-like design around the chest with a pair of black heels. She closed the door behind her and wrapped an arm around Naruto's own arm.
"Let us go." C.C. said.
"Your chariot awaits, milady." Naruto said jokingly.
C.C. smiled as they made their way inside. She was already aware to expect some friends but she didn't mind giving the last minute request. They were all from the Technology Club so she didn't have any problems with them. However, she did have a small concern.
"Where is Loki?" C.C. asked.
"He's in his domain and rekindling his lost energy." Ennui answered.
"…"
"Loki isn't into festivities. It would just give him a headache." Crimson added.
Even mascots need time away from the social world apparently.
At the dance
If it wasn't for Milly Ashford and the rest of the council. The homecoming dance would probably look like a fancy ball meant for nobility. While that sounds nice on paper, that would mean harsher and more strict rules regarding mannerisms and movements.
It was already bad enough that Coach Hatchet is one of the teachers chaperoning the dance.
"Hey! If you wanna run around! I can make you run laps!" Coach Hatchet shouted at two boys that were jogging across the dance hall.
Most schools use a gymnasium but Ashford just had to be one of those places that essentially had a room for everything. So here everyone was presented with chandeliers, shiny floors meant for dancing and a table decorated with fine food.
"I think I see where the 50$ went." Naruto said.
"It went nowhere because we all got in for free." C.C. pointed out. "Also, many students are wealthy. So the fee is essentially pocket change to them." She added.
To a rich kid, spending 50$ was probably like buying a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread.
"Well, at least Milly knows how to make a party feel less stuffy." Naruto said.
"I wonder how the atmosphere will change when your goth friends are done changing." C.C. Said making Naruto snort.
"It's going to be epic." Naruto said before leading her to the punch bowl.
B went in his own direction and approached the crafts table. He looked at the food and saw some fancy little finger foods. It all looked edible and quite expensive with how well crafted it looks.
"Boy, you are staring at art and skill. All done by yours truly."
B turned and saw the voice came from Coach Hatchet. He looked surprised and wondered if he heard the coach's words correctly. So he pointed at the food questionably and then back at the coach as if to confirm his statement.
"That's right. I also volunteered for the canteen back at base. Try something, I recommend the crab cakes first." Coach Hatchet said, having a seemingly evil smile on his face.
B nervously took a crab cake and carefully bit down and chewed it. Only to look stunned by how amazing it was and quickly ate it.
"That's right, I used to work on ocean liners as a chef. But then I got laid off because of some health code violation. Those kitchens were more dangerous than a minefield." Coach Hatchet said as B ate more while listening.
The dance was then filled with more students who were ready to have fun. Where they can only imagine what was waiting for them tonight.
In the Game universe
Polygon Man laughed as he saw a massive army, a mixture of various soldiers from different video games.
Imperial Stormtroopers and AT-ATs from Battlefront, a set of containers filled with hunters from Resident Evil, various types of Blarg and Blarg transports from Ratchet and Clank, some various demons from Devil May Cry.
"It's a mixed batch, but it's a testing phase. At least that's what Cortext told me." Uka Uka said.
"Yes, for now I want to gauge the strength of my enemies and see how they will react. The true invasion will be much bigger than this mere handful." Polygon Man said.
"If you don't mind my asking. Why only use fodder that the "gamers" have battled before? Why not use different ones to put them off guard?" Uka Uka asked.
He understood clearly that Polygon Man saw this as a test as the portal between worlds was still sensitive and not guaranteed to work for an extended period. However, if this was to test the gamers and prepare for a more successful invasion. It would help to weaken them and eliminate them if possible with greater threats.
Polygon shook his giant floating head at Uka Uka.
"Firstly, it would not matter what I throw at them. There's a chance they would defeat them regardless. I know the small trio isn't the only group in the other world that's been combatting my forces." Polygon Man explained.
Uka Uka didn't know that last part. He knew the other world was filled with many people but forgot the numbers. There was no exact number of how many gamers were able to enter the game universe and continue with finishing each game. So even if Naruto's group was eliminated, there were multiple other groups that needed to be attacked.
Hence the need for a much larger force for the true invasion in the future. As Uka Uka took in this information, he saw a couple of Star Destroyers and a couple of Covenant cruisers arrive. Along came a few Covenant drop ships that made their way into the cruisers.
"You could not comprehend how difficult it was to find the Covenant. Finding them was not difficult, but somehow it became tricky to make contact with them at first." Polygon Man explained.
Perhaps the difficulty was because characters from Halo were from a different game company (Xbox/Microsoft) while Polygon Man is a scrapped concept from PlayStation/Sony.
"Hilariously enough, they were quick to treat me as their god." Polygon Man added.
A Phantom flew past Polygon Man's head with the grunt squads raising their arms for him.
"Hail God!" They said making Polygon Man chuckle.
"How nice, you deserve as much and more." Uka Uka said before excusing himself.
Maybe the sentient tiki mask would feel less anxious if he could yell at Cortex and tell him what to do. To which Cortex already feels a lot of pressure from Polygon Man already. Enough to the point he's in dire need of relief from the migraine he's had.
As for Polygon Man, he just watched as the army was being organized and prepared. All ready to test the real world for what used to only exist behind their television screens.
"My lord." said a robotic voice.
"Grievous, I can imagine you are the most eager out of everyone here for the invasion." Polygon Man said as he looked at the cyborg general.
Grievous kneeled before Polygon Man but kept his head up.
"I am also eager to test your generous gifts." Grievous said as he revealed several unique weapons hanging from his belt.
"Remember Grievous, this is only a mere test. Try not to let your warrior's pride ruin this." Polygon Man said sternly.
"Acknowledged, but I see every battle, no matter how small, as a test." Grievous said before standing up.
Back in the real world
The dance was in full swing with everyone dancing, eating or just enjoying everyone's company. Even Seras had arrived as another chaperone for the dance. Somehow the woman keeps finding ways to have fun and enjoy herself despite being a teacher and an agent for a top secret mission.
'This helps with the constant stress that Lady Integra always puts on me.' Seras thought as she grabbed a crab cake.
As Seras ate, she saw B and Naruto but not Crimson. She considered approaching them just to greet them and check in on them. When she heard someone tampering with a microphone and looked to see Milly Ashford was on stage.
"Hi everyone, I hope you're having a wonderful time!" Milly said.
The students clapped and let out light cheers to show their enjoyment. Even though Milly wished for louder cheers but had to accept it. The lame thing about some rich kids is they don't know how to get excited and have fun.
"Anyways, I hope you all know the importance of voting and no, this isn't a political speech. I just want to remind everyone to vote for your Homecoming King and Queen and we'll announce the winners in two hours." Milly explained as the crowd clapped.
B then gently hit Naruto with his elbow and gave him an idea. Naruto began to snicker as his friend whispered a suggestion.
"Dude, Crimson would get mad if we vote for her." Naruto said.
B explained in a way that said that Crimson would not be mad forever. Even implying that given her plan to make a scary entrance with Ennui. Crimson would welcome the idea of being Homecoming Queen to make her true appearance more memorable and scare away the preppies.
"Okay, maybe that is a good idea." Naruto said as they went to the ballots.
It was a longshot and Crimson wasn't exactly an official candidate. However, the academy didn't implement a system for candidacy outside of the student council. They just saw the monarchy titles as just fun little details to get everyone hyped. They even used tablets to make people type in the names of who they voted for to make things clear.
Likely to make sure that names were legible and making the ballot count easier on the committee. That and the use of technology would prevent some idiot from typing in curse words or inappropriate messages as a vote. Luckily B is the only one in the school with amazing technology skills so they didn't need to worry about a hacker uploading a virus as a dumb joke.
However, their fun was almost ruined by C.C. who got curious and saw them typing in Crimson's real name.
"I don't believe your goth friend would enjoy being made into a candidate." she said.
"I know she might get mad, but she might get over it with what she's about to pull." Naruto said.
Naruto then typed in Ennui's real name and high fived B once they finished. C.C. gave them a blank stare before inputting her own votes.
"You know, there is little chance your friends will win. There are others who have been actively advertising their campaign." C.C. said.
"Whatever, it's just a bit of fun on our part." Naruto said.
C.C. was about to respond before she suddenly lost her step and fell into Naruto's arms.
"Careful there, did you step on your dress?" Naruto asked.
C.C. shook her head but almost tripped again with Naruto also feeling a bit jittery. He turned to B who looked like he was being pushed slightly. Then they looked at the nearby fancy glasses and saw them shaking slightly.
"What is this? An earthquake?" Naruto asked.
"An earthquake wouldn't rotate between shaking and not shaking." C.C. said, feeling confused.
Suddenly, loud noises were heard outside and the shaking became a bit more intense. The students wondered if it really was a light earthquake or if some heavy machinery was being used nearby. Then it got even louder as what sounded like multiple plane engines were heard outside.
"I feel like someone is messing with us." Naruto said.
Soon enough, the sounds of planes became louder and the shaking continued. With Seras jumping onto the stage and taking the microphone.
"Everyone, please calm down and hang onto something. Avoid panicking and standing near sharp objects." Seras said as she tried to find an excuse for what was going on.
B then got on his phone and tried looking up the news in regards to any earthquakes or planes changing patterns. However, his phone began to glitch out much to his frustration. With the same happening to other students who tried to access their phones as well.
The pattern of misfortune started to startle everyone who began to panic despite Seras' attempts to calm everyone down. Everyone believed it was a random cyber attack or something. Which prompted B to consider heading down to a computer lab and fix his phone and find the issue. However, he stopped as he heard Naruto's phone ringing.
"Hey, the glitch stopped for me." Naruto said.
Only to find an unknown number was calling him. It didn't even look like a real phone number, it looked like an IP address with how it was organized.
"You have to be kidding me. Is this part of the virus?" Naruto asked.
"The most creative virus I have ever seen." C.C. said as she saw his phone.
B narrowed his eyes but ended up forcing Naruto to answer the call despite his friend's hesitation. Upon answering it, the three were startled by the sound of a loud static sound before a voice could be heard.
"Naruto, this is DiZ! Do you hear me!? I was too late!" DiZ yelled.
"DiZ?" Naruto asked as B listened closely.
"I do not know where you are but I need you to regroup with your allies! A great danger is in your vicinity!" DiZ frantically shouted.
"Hey, slow down. What's going on? What danger?" Naruto asked.
Suddenly, the building began to shake and the sounds of planes became louder and more frequent.
"The enemy force I detected! They somehow extended the gap between worlds! Now they are on their way!" DiZ explained.
"What? You mean they're going to attack us in our dreams?" Naruto asked.
"What are you talking about? What is going on?" C.C. asked, noticing how the boys looked confused.
"No! There is no time for dreaming! They should have arrived by now!" DiZ said before the whole building shook.
Suddenly, the lights began to flicker on and off.
"Everyone! Please take cover! We have a moderately high level earthquake!" Seras said, trying to make an excuse to make everyone find safety.
"Naruto, do you hear me!? I need you to regroup with your allies and arm yourselves! I will attempt to send help!" DiZ said before the phone disconnected.
"DiZ? DiZ! Don't you dare disconnect on me!" Naruto shouted.
B took the phone and tried to dial him back but shook his head in frustration as the quakes continued.
"What are you two up to?" C.C. asked.
Before Naruto or B could make an excuse. Seras speed walked up to them and gently put her hands on C.C.'s shoulders.
"Here you three are. Let's go take cover and wait this out." Seras said, trying to maintain her happy, friendly face.
"Ms. Victoria, something about this phenomenon is suspect. I think Naruto and B are…*
C.C.'s eyes widened for a moment as she felt a sharp but temporary stinging sensation on her shoulder. Moments later, her eyes closed and her body went limp as Seras kept her arms around her.
"Hush little green haired student of mine. Ms. Victoria will keep you alive." Seras sang as she tried to lift up C.C.'s body.
She then looked at her two students and expected an explanation.
"Okay, long story short. DiZ called and he says we're under attack by the video game universe." Naruto said, earning a strange blank look from Seras.
"...you're stressed out, aren't you?" Seras asked, not believing him.
Before Naruto could argue, the front doors were being slammed into. The noise and impact was so loud, everyone thought it was a battering ram or something.
"Everyone, follow Coach Hatchet to the gymnasium! Hurry!" Seras shouted.
"You heard the woman! Move your asses! I don't care if you're wearing dress shoes and high heels!" Coach Hatchet shouted as he didn't question the order.
However, a few looked concerned and tried to get some answers. Milly Ashford had to be one of the few curious ones who wanted clarity behind this.
"Ms. Victoria, is this really an earthquake?" Milly asked.
"Yes and it's a tornado and a thunderstorm and… nature just decided to throw a stinker today." Seras said, trying to make more excuses.
"Wait, why is that girl unconscious?" Kallen asked as she pointed at C.C.'s body.
"Ah… low blood sugar." Seras lied.
Naruto shook his head and put a hand on B's shoulder.
"We need to find Crimson and think of some game plan or something." Naruto said as B nodded.
"Hold on you two." Seras spoke up. "Look, I know this weird weather is a bit frightening but now is a bad time to…"
Seras was cut off by the sound of the front doors shattering. They were then followed by the familiar sound of a monstrous warcry.
"What the hell are those!?" Kallen asked.
Naruto and B looked terrified as they saw a pair of Hunters from Halo knock down the doors and scan the room.
"Get the hell down!" Naruto shouted.
He tackled down Seras while B tackled down Milly and Kallen. The couple remaining students took cover as well as they saw two large green beams shoot directly at the stage. Causing it to explode and make the chandeliers hit the ground.
However, the Hunters were not satisfied with pointless destruction alone. The two giant aliens ran inside and started knocking over tables to reach their victims.
Just as everyone thought they were about to die. The two Hunters were suddenly hit by high level explosives. Luckily their big bodies were good enough shields to reduce the impact around the students.
"What was that!?" Milly asked.
B hesitantly looked up as he heard loud metallic footsteps enter the room. The surprises didn't end as he saw an old friend in green armor enter the dance. Despite B's current appearance, the friend looked at B and extended a hand.
"You need a weapon." the Master Chief said.
Just as B took his hand. A Grunt came running inside the dance but was screaming in terror.
"Spare me…! AHH!" the Grunt screamed as several bullets hit its back.
"What is this? Is this some kind of prank?" Rivalz asked from the back.
Seconds later, Naruto's "boss" casually entered the room while twirling a pistol in one hand and grabbing food from the crafts table with the other. He looked at Naruto who hid behind the table and nodded.
"Get up kid, we're working overtime today." Dante said.
"That's putting it lightly." Naruto said.
"By the way, a guy named DiZ said this weapon suits you best." Dante said as he handed Naruto a lightsaber.
Naruto smiled and accepted it, "Thanks boss." he said.
Despite being the closest thing to a supervisor to the group. Seras looked the most confused but given their predicament and how Naruto's insane explanation sounded. Seras could only imagine that the video game universe did somehow come true. However, that made her job more difficult as she now had a bunch of civilians to worry about which included the student council who all looked caused.
"Wait, wait, wait, what the hell kind of prank is this?" Kallen asked.
Seras sighed as she put a hand on Kallen's shoulder.
"Good night dear." she said.
"Good night? What are you-"
Kallen was cut off by Seras pinching her shoulder and knocking her out.
Before anyone else could question what Seras did. The British woman pulled out her blow dart gun from her purse and shot at Milly, Rivalz and the rest of the student council. Once they all hit the floor, some hitting the floor harder than others, Seras sighed and looked at the boys and game characters.
"I cannot comprehend how this is happening and my gut is telling me not to let you both run around as you wish." Seras began to say as she looked at everyone.
"But?" Naruto asked, gesturing for Seras to finish.
"But, seeing as how you both are probably the closest ones capable of fighting the incoming threat. Despite lacking the physical adjustments your dreams should give you. I'll let you go." Seras said, deciding to put her faith in the boys.
B gave her a thumbs up.
"Yes, yes, yes, I hope you realize that I'm an amazing teacher. Now go, I will speak to Crimson when I see her." Seras said.
"Thanks teacher!" Naruto said.
He then ran out the door first with B, Dante and the Master Chief following close behind. Leaving Seras behind to try and move C.C. and the student council's bodies out of the dance hall. Seras could only hope that Coach Hatchet and any present staff and security would believe her if she said they passed out from shock.
"Speaking of which, where is security?" Seras asked.
Then she remembered the Hunters that almost blew up the entire hall.
"Okay, they would not be helpful at all but I wonder where Crimson is." Seras said, unaware of Crimson and Ennui's plans.
Outside
Naruto and B stopped and saw a couple of Star Destroyers flying above the academy with several Imperial and Blarg dropships making their way down.
"You know, I was never into sci fi." Dante said, earning a look from Master Chief.
Any other comments that were meant to be said were cut off as a dozen large containers came crashing down. They all opened up and revealed large lizard-like monsters that snarled at them.
"I really hope Crimson hurries up and gets out here." Naruto said as B nodded.
The Hunters (Resident Evil version) looked at the group and snarled before lunging towards them. Initiating the second wave of Polygon Man's invasion.
