Chapter 6
As they walked back to through the town to a place they could easily, apperate, Evan filled him in on all the things that muggles did via phone.
" You can watch movies and stuff. Of course, half of it doesn't work at Hogwarts. Reception inside the castle is pretty much non-existent. I figured out a way to boost the signal. Texts are sometimes easier to get through than phone calls. The best places to talk on a cell phone at school are at the gates, behind the greenhouses, and at the top of the astronomy tower. Actually, the astronomy tower is your best bet."
"Wow," said Neville, "so that is why I'm always having to chase muggle students out of the greenhouse."
"Yes," said Evan. "It's actually brilliant. Now, it is easier to keep up with stuff going on in the outside world.
"Hi Ellie, It's Neville. I just wanted to make sure we are still on for Saturday. I had a great time last week and I have more herbs for you."
By dinner on Friday, Neville just couldn't wait to see her again. He'd never felt this way before- maybe once when was little, but that was it. He could barely contain himself at dinner on Friday.
"How was your week?" asked Professor McGonagall.
"Excellent," said Neville
"Have you gotten into one of Flitwick's cheering charms or something?" asked Professor Sinistra.
"No, why?" replied Neville
"You are so happy you are nearly bouncing with excitement and your smile is a mile wide," said Sinistra.
"What's her name? Or is it his name?" asked McGonagall
"Her name is Ellie. She lives is Hogsmeade. I'm meeting her for lunch tomorrow," replied Neville.
"That's great," said Sinistra.
"I can't wait," said Evan
"Why can't you wait, Gallagher, what does it have to do with you?" said Sinistra
"Because then, Longbottom, will stop counting down the hours and I might not have to hold his feet to the ground anymore."
"If it goes well, he won't stop either of those things," said Flitwick.
"Yes, but at least he will chill out," said Evan.
"I don't recall asking you to chill when you were dating Mary or Ruth or any of the others," said Neville.
"What can I say- girls just love me," said Evan.
"Just do us all a favor and don't let it take over your work. I can't tell you the number of times I had to deal with Sinistra every time he fell in and out of love," said Flitwick.
"I'm not that bad," said Sinistra
"Says the man who I had to cover for during your last two breakups." Said Flitwick
"What can I say, I fall in love easily," said Sinistra
"Longbottom, why do you look so surprised?" asked Sinistra
"He's having trouble picturing Sinistra as the ladies' man," said Flitwick.
"Teachers are people. We have lives that don't involve students," said Sinistra.
"That is true," said Neville.
"Now I've got some papers to grade before tomorrow. I gave a pop-quiz today," said Neville.
"Have fun," said Flitwick, as Neville left the table.
