Authors note, PLEASE READ!:

Hi all! Welcome to my RedSwanQueen fanfic. First one I've ever written and hopefully you guys like it. There's some key points I would like to clarify before jumping into the story. First, I got this idea from another fic I read a while ago that never got updated unfortunately. So I decided to do a similar story with my own ideas. Second, this story will mostly be about Regina and Rubys points of view. There's way too many SwanQueen fanfictions and not enough RedQueen or RedSwanQueen. So in a way I'm just gonna assume we've had enough Emma and Regina and not enough Ruby :p this in NO WAY means that Regina loves Ruby more then Emma, she's gonna love them BOTH EQUALLY! But I'll just be focusing more on Ruby and Reginas side of things. Emma will be thrown in there and you'll get to see some of her thoughts too at some points so don't worry about that. Anyways, if I see people supporting the story and liking it I'll keep updating as often as I can! Here's the first chapter! Enjoy :)

Chapter 1

Blue eyes opened up, the dark sky above greeting her. Ruby Lucas (Red riding hood) groaned as she sat up, hand coming to rest on her forehead. It had been the full moon last night, the time of the month when she would let her wolf free to do as it wished. It had been a long stressful road but she's finally come to terms with her inner wolf. When the first curse was broken it had taken her so long to come to terms with becoming the monster that had terrorized her village back in the Enchanted forest for so long. Ruby remembered a time here in Storybrooke when she would fight her transformation ,to the point where it physically hurt, in order to avoid becoming the four legged animal. But ever since being transported back to the Enchanted forest after Regina, (current Storybrooke mayor, ex evil queen) had sent Emma ( daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, savior) and Henry ( son of Emma, adopted son of Regina) away, she has learned to stop treating the wolf like something completely separated from herself. She is the wolf, the wolf is her. Once she came to terms with that transforming into the wolf no longer frightened her, instead she welcomed it with excitement. During the year at the Enchanted forest she has learned complete control of her transformed self, she no longer blacked out or forgot anything when she was the wolf. She's even able to transform without the full moon, and also use her powers while in her human skin. A skill she perfected after everyone was brought back from the Enchanted forest to Storybrooke once again, thanks to her dear friend Snow white for activating the curse again and to Emma and Henry who got their memories back.

As she thought this Ruby became even more confused as to why she couldn't remember anything from after she transformed last night, and as she looked around her confusion increased ten fold when she realized where she was. She was under a very familiar looking apple tree, a very specific apple tree that couldn't belong to anyone else other then the person she was thinking of. Ruby couldn't believe it, how in the world did she end up in Reginas backyard of all places?!. And why?. Rubbing her forehead a little more, she tried to think back to what she could remember from yesterday. She remembered her shift at the diner just before moon rise, she remembered how her heart raised and her blood pumped with excitement the closer it got. She remembered it finally being time and how she quickly discarded her work apron and said a hurried goodbye to her grandmother, who warned her to behave, and wolf sped out of the diner and towards a spot in the surrounding forest where she has a hidden spot where she stashed her clothes before transforming. Okay so far so good, thought Ruby. Next, she remembered how she had stripped her clothing off as soon as the full moon had hit its peak in the sky. Then came the transformation, she remembered how her eyes shone yellow, how her teeth grew into sharp canine teeth, her ears stretched upwards and pointy, her mouth and nose stretching forward to fit her newly grown razor sharp teeth. She remembered falling forward on all four as her back, arms and legs stretched out and grew in size and shiny black fur grew to cover all her skin. After transforming so many times already it didn't even hurt Ruby as much as it did in the beginning when she first transformed, not a time she wants to remember.

" Okay, so I remember up until that point. But what the hell happened after?", said Ruby out loud. She had to keep trying to remember, for some strange reason she couldn't just let it go. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, Ruby thought as hard as she could. Slowly but surely her memories started coming back. Her running deep in the forest as the wolf, scents from all over the place wafting up her wolf nose as her paws dug into the fresh soil below her, feelings of happiness and freedom coursing through her veins as she sped through the trees. Everything seemed normal, except for when…. Rubys eyes shot open, mouth parted slightly as the last piece of the puzzle fell into place. A scent had made its way to her sensitive nose when she was running, a scent so deliciously intoxicating that it had been impossible to not follow. Her wolf had been completely taken with that scent. Ruby has never been so drawn and hypnotized by a simple scent before. Speaking of.. Rubys nose started picking up the heavenly scent once again, it was all over the backyard, it was like a blanket covering the entire place in its delicious warmth. But where was it coming from?...

Looking behind her Ruby noticed that she had been leaning back on Reginas Apple tree, and to her surprise the mouth watering scent was strongest at the tree, but it wasn't coming exactly from the tree itself. Again, Rubys eyes widened in surprise as realization hit her. The scent that has her senses going haywire isn't coming from an object, it's coming from a person. A person who would have to have spent a lot of time in this backyard and around this tree. But, that could only be… Ruby slumped back against the tree, different emotions running through her. Shock, excitement, curiosity, confusion, all at once. Could it really be Regina?? She's the only person who would be in her own backyard and around her beloved Apple tree, unless you wanted to get a fireball to the face, Ruby couldn't think of anyone else who's scent would be back here. Well, Henry and Emmas scent would also make sense. Rubys eyes suddenly turned yellow and a low growl escaped her parted lips at the thought of her blonde best friend, who's currently living with Regina ever since saving her from her psycho sister Zelena ( who's dead) with true love's kiss. Ruby didn't understand why the thought of Emma with Regina bothered her so damn much. Everyone in Storybrooke could see the attraction between the mayor and the sheriff from a mile away, even when they hated each other. There was always a sexual tension between the two of them that Rubys sensitive wolf senses would pick up when being in a room with the two of them, hell she even rooted for them when they became true love's and was happy for them. So this sudden aggression towards Emma surprised her to no end.

She's a hundred percent sure that it's Reginas scent that caused her to run all the way over here. She just couldn't figure out why. As she thought this Rubys ears picked up on a sound coming from inside the house , her heart nearly jumped out of her chest as she realized the sound were footsteps, heading right for the glass door that would give the person who's coming a clear view of Ruby. "Shit!", cursed Ruby as she jumped up from the ground to a standing position. Her head spinning a little, she always got some lightheadedness after transforming back to her human self. As she once again gripped her forehead she noticed something that filled her with both dread and an unknown emotion, Reginas mouth watering scent was getting stronger. Which could only mean one thing… Forgetting all about the pounding in her head, Ruby looked wildly around for the nearest escape route. She's never been in Reginas backyard before so she was unfamiliar with the surroundings. To make the situation she has gotten herself into worse she remembered that she was completely head to toes naked, something she really should of remembered sooner. Reginas gonna see me naked. As the thought settled into her mind Ruby heard the glass door open and Reginas scent surrounded her even more strongly then before, causing her mouth to water and her eyes to glow intensely. She also picked up the scent of burning which indicated that Regina had summoned her traditional fireball in hand, ready to fry whoever stepped a foot on her property without permission.

" I might have turned a new leaf these days but I won't hesitate to burn a stranger crispy if they don't explain why they're in my garden, at this late hour no less", came the enticing voice of Regina from behind Ruby.

Regina looked at the stranger in her backyard, she felt a mix of anger, confusion, and strangely enough excitement. The first two emotions she understood, but the third one came as a surprise to her. This stranger, there was something about them that was oddly comforting. Regina felt a strange sense of want, almost as if she wanted to be closer to this person who she couldn't make out in the shadows of her loved apple tree. She had been happily sleeping in the arms of her true love when her eyes had shot opened suddenly, as if a powerful force had pulled her from the land of sleep back to wakefulness. She hadn't wanted to leave the comfort Emma's arms brought her, but something equally as powerful and alluring had called to her from her backyard, which had caused her to quietly remove herself from her bed without waking her blonde lover up and made her way to her window that overlooked her garden. As soon as she had spotted a figure sitting under her Apple tree with only the light of the moon shining down on her garden she hadn't wasted a second before quickly making her way out of her room and quietly passing her 12 year old son's room as she made her way down the grand staircase and out the back glass door. Now here she was, waiting for this person to turn around and explain themselves. Regina couldn't make out much since they were standing in the shadow her Apple tree casted with their back turned, she did however noticed the long flowing stresses of hair and the womanly figure.

Growing impatient, Regina took a few steps forward while raising her hand to cast some more light on the intruder when suddenly they raised their hands in a surrendering pose and quickly turned around. "Wait Regina don't shoot, I mean ummm don't fire!", exclaimed the very familiar voice of Ruby Lucas.

Regina stopped in her tracks for a second upon hearing Rubys voice, then continued on towards her while stating in an incredulous tone," Ms. Lucas?, what in the name of…?" Reginas voice trailed off when she got close enough to Ruby to take her in fully. Skin, so much skin.

Reginas eyes widened, mouth suddenly dry, her face suddenly hot. There was Ruby, in all her naked glory in full display for Regina to see. It was like Reginas eyes had a mind of their own, she couldn't for the life of her stop herself from taking all of Ruby in. Starting from the bottom up, her eyes trailed up the light tan smooth legs that seem to go on for miles. Reginas eyes darken when her eyes landed on Rubys womanhood, unlike Emma's " clear fields " policy, Ruby has a neat patch of hair adorning the tender skin there, it looked cleanly kept and well trimmed. Regina felt her tongue stick out to lick dry lips, her eyes journeying upward. A flat stomach and oh dear, abs. Emma has them too, but Rubys are definitely more prominent without losing any of the womanly softness. Next, glorious breasts, not big, not small, just perfect with deliciously pink nipples. As Reginas eyes lingered on Rubys chest she also noticed a quarter sized crescent moon tattoo under her right breast, Regina couldn't help but imagine how it be like to lick up and around that tattoo… She forced her eyes to continue the journey up, passing by delicious looking arms, shoulder blades and neck. Oh Reginas mind was clouded by the sight before her, her imagination running wild. Until finally she reached full lips, a cute nose and… Her breath caught in her throat, those burning captivating yellow eyes holding her prisoner.

Ruby had been staring unblinkingly at Regina. Her nose is never wrong, and right now she was picking up a very strong scent of arousal from the other women. Mixed with Reginas intoxicating natural scent it caused Rubys knees to weakened, if she didn't happen to have control over her instincts she's sure she would pounce on Regina and devour her in the most delicious way. She felt her inner wolf trying to claw its way out of her, wanting to get to Regina and claim her as her own. It's taking everything in Ruby to hold herself back, this sudden urge to take Regina almost overwhelming her. Especially after how Regina unabashedly checked her out. She had to stop this, Regina was with Emma, much as the thought angered her for some unknown reason that's just how things were. Hardening her resolve and shifting from foot to foot, Ruby raised her left arm to cover her chest and lowered her right hand to give her some sort of cover down there.

Rubys movements caused Regina to snap out of the trance she seemed to be in. What the hell was wrong with her!?. Why was she staring at Ms.Lucas like that? And why was it so hard for her eyes to move away from the sight of her naked body?. Her true love was in her bed sleeping soundly and here she was, shamelessly staring at another women. Ruby Lucas no less. What is this sudden pull she was feeling?. It's almost like the pull she feels with Emma, but somehow different. Regina decided to just ignore for now and think on it later, she had bigger things to deal with at the moment then strange feelings. Taking a deep concentrated breath, Regina set her face in an annoyed expression and looked at her uninvited guest. " Care to explain why your in my backyard Ms.Lucas? In that state of undress no less." She asked.

Ruby shifted some more under Reginas gaze, trying as hard as possible to keep her eyes above Reginas chin. Of course it was near impossible when Regina was dressed in nothing but a small black silk robe that reached barely above her knees, her smooth olive toned legs in display. God help me, thought Ruby. Clearing her throat a little, she answered the question. " I'm really sorry about this Regina, yesterday was the full moon and I guess I sorta lost some control of my wolf and I ended up here. I swear I didn't mean to break into your backyard". Ruby had considered telling Regina the truth, after all Regina was a powerful sorcerer who probably knew a lot about magical creatures. Maybe she could of helped her figure out why all of a sudden she was craving Regina for herself, she knew it had something to do with being a werewolf but she didn't know what. But ultimately decided to go against asking Regina, she was already embarrassed enough with the situation. Plus she didn't want Regina to think her crazy and charge her with breaking and entering or public indecency.

Regina watched her closely, she had an inkling feeling that Ruby was lying to her, normally she wouldn't care but for some reason it bothered her. " I had assumed you had complete control of your duo nature by now dear", she said. Ruby "Red" Lucas has always been a secret fascination of hers, wolves had been such magnificent creatures back in the Enchanted forest. She's always wanted to learn all about skin changers, but they were a guarded race and only Ruby and granny had lived openly in the forest. If she would of tried back then to speak with Ruby she was sure the wolf would of ripped her throat out, considering her devotion to Snow White. But ever since creating Storybrooke she's had a chance to observe the girl closely, watching as she worked at the diner in those skimpy mini skirts she used to wear all the time, Regina never admitting out loud how her eyes use to follow those shapely legs back then.

Ruby gave her a sheepish grin, " Well I do, but sometimes I get really carried away after I transform and let my more primal instincts take over", she said. Feeling a more comfortable around Regina. Even during the curse the mayor has always been civil with her, they never really talked but the few times they did weren't too bad. Even after the curse was broken and her memories were restored, she never disliked Regina.

Regina gave her an amused smirk, brown eyes twinkling slightly. " Am I going to have to start leaving a doggie bed and treats out here from now on darling?" She asked, amusement clear in her voice. Ruby rolled her eyes at her, another reason why she always liked the waitress. Ruby never backed down to Regina, even when the curse was active the wolf wasn't scared of the unforgiving mayor like everyone else was. She always gave as good as she got, and she knew how to keep up with Reginas humor.

" Dog jokes, they never get old. Also, if your gonna go through the trouble of leaving a bed here for me you might as well just give me a house key and I'll just let myself in and crash on your couch", stated Ruby, a smirk of her own growing on her face. Her and Regina would sometimes have these small harmless chats these days that involved trying to one up the other with smart ass comments. Some might even say the two seemed to be flirting with each other, but Ruby knew better then that.

Regina raised a perfectly sculpted eyebrow at Ruby, words coming out of her mouth before she could stop them. " I wouldn't mind", she stated, a little breathless as she once again trailed her eyes over Rubys body. This sudden want of Ruby was seriously leaving her baffled, it's like as much as she tried to stop herself it was all for not. Clearing her throat and glancing away once she saw Rubys eyes flash amber for a second, Regina looked around her garden. Anything would be better then looking at those captivating eyes, if she did she knew she would be trapped in they're depths.

Why was this happening?, thought Ruby. This feeling she's having towards Regina is becoming too much. All she wanted to do is wrap the woman up in her arms and kiss her senseless, and Regina not looking at her was also making her feel miserable. She needed to talk to granny, maybe her all knowing grandmother would have some answers. Ruby decided it was time for her to go, she was exhausted. Usually she would fall asleep in the woods as the wolf and wake up refreshed and energized in her human skin, but she hasn't gotten a good nights sleep today since waking up in Reginas backyard. Also, if she left now she wouldn't have to worry about doing something completely stupid, that involved the beautiful woman in front of her.

Giving a small cough to catch Reginas attention, Ruby stated, " As much fun as this has been I think I should get going, I don't want to keep disrupting your night. Again I'm really sorry for barging in like this, it won't happen again". She said, giving Regina a small tired smile that caused Reginas heart to flutter slightly.

Before Regina could reply, Ruby turned around and started walking towards the fence. She honestly didn't think she could make it all the way back home, she was so tired. She would probably just find a secluded spot in the woods and crash there, wouldn't be the first time.

As she neared the fence Ruby was surprised to see a cloud of purple smoke appear in front of her, stopping her from reaching the fence. Regina appeared from the smoke, arms crossed and a determined look of her face. She didn't know what she was doing, but all Regina knew was that she didn't want to let Ruby go. Not only did seeing her walking away made her feel like she was taking a piece of her with her, but she could see how exhausted the other woman was, the bags under her beautiful blue eyes and slumped shoulders making it clear to Regina. There was no way Ruby was going to make it back to the Bed n Breakfast like this.

" You'll be spending the rest of the night here dear", stated Regina, more of a command then a question.

Ruby looked at her in bewilderment, almost like she didn't believe what she just heard. " What?", she dumbly asked.

Regina rolled her eyes, part of her swooning a little at the lost puppy look Ruby was giving her. " Your exhausted, don't even try to deny it because I can clearly see it in your face. You can rest up here and head out later after you've properly rested", she stated, making sure there was no room for arguments in her voice. Ruby wasn't going anywhere until Regina knew for certain she was okay.

Still shocked, Ruby knew she wouldn't win if she tried to argue. Plus, the thought of being able to be close to Regina at least for a few more hours made her strangely happy. So with a racing heart, she gave Regina a small grateful smile and said, " Thank you, you don't have to house me but I appreciate it".

Regina gave her a small smile of her own, " It's no trouble at all", she said. With that she started heading for the glass door, Ruby following close behind. " Lock the door behind you dear, wouldn't want anymore stray animals to wonder in", she said, mischief and amusement clear as day in her voice, a smile growing on her face when she heard Ruby snort behind her followed by the door locking. " You can make yourself comfortable on the couch, I'll get you a blanket and a pillow", she indicated. Ruby nodded, gave her another grateful smile and walked into the living room while Regina headed for the storage closet to grab said items.

Grabbing what she came for Regina headed back to the living room, " Alright here you go, hope they're comfortable enough for you", she said while entering the dark room. When no answer came Regina slowed her steps and looked around for the other woman, eyes spotting her immediately. Ruby had laid herself on the coach and apparently had fallen asleep. The brunette had laid on her back, right arm hanging off the couch while the other rested on her stomach. Regina was very thankful that the only light in the room was coming from the moonlight streaming through the window, she was sure that if she got another glance at Rubys impressive body she didn't think she could hold herself back from jumping the girl. She really had to figure out what was happening with her, she's been around Ruby plenty of times and she's never felt this way towards her. It was like a light switch had been switched on in her when it came to the girl laying on her couch, she didn't know what to make of it. What's even more shocking is how closely similar it is to what she feels for Emma, which didn't make any sense since Emma is her true love. How can that even be possible?.

Looking down at the sleeping girl Regina felt a small smile forming on her lips, she leaned down close to the brunette, admiring her sharp features. She truly was beautiful. Regina found herself wishing to just get in the couch with her and cuddling the night away with the wolf, but not only that, she also wanted Emma to be here. She could only just imagine how it would feel like to be between both women, wrapped up in each other's arms. Okay enough, shaking her head to rid herself of those baffling thoughts Regina unfolded the blanket and laid it out over Ruby, making sure to cover as much of her body as she could. Then gently, Regina slid her hand under Rubys head and slowly lifted it to slide the pillow under. When she set Rubys head back down the girl gave a small little whine while giving Reginas hand a small rub with her head, Reginas heart melting. Without thinking, Regina leaned down and gave Ruby a small peck on the cheek, the urge to do so overwhelming her. Pulling back she gave the girl another longing look before standing up and heading out of the living room and up towards her room.

Walking back into her room, Regina wasted no time in climbing back in bed with her true love. As soon as she got settled in Emma immediately pulled her closer. Regina felt happiness and love in her heart. She really did love Emma so very much, she couldn't picture herself without her and being in her arms felt so right. But Ruby being downstairs on her couch instead of here with them was nagging at her, she didn't for the life of her understand why, she would have to do some research, as for now sleep sounded splendid so she let herself fall into a deep sleep, her dreams filled with captivating blue eyes like the ocean and beautiful green eyes like a lush forest.
