Chapter 2
A beeping sound filled the peaceful silence of the mansions master bedroom. Regina groaned, brown eyes blinking slowly to dispel the sleepiness. She still felt like she hadn't rested as much as she had hoped, giving that she was up at a ridiculous hour this morning she isn't surprised. Why had she been up again?. Eyes widening, sleepiness dissipating immediately as soon as she remembered those amber eyes and her surprise guest. Ruby Lucas had unexpectedly shown up early this morning, in all her naked glory for Regina to see. As soon as her memories returned Regina felt that strange feeling that had almost overwhelmed her when she was around the other woman return as well. That feeling she still couldn't place or understand. Even now, just thinking about the wolfs body and those eyes was causing her heartbeat to speed up, face heating up. Shaking her head slightly Regina remembered that she still had to turn off her alarm clock, reaching over and doing just that. She settled herself back into Emma, loving the comfort it brought her to be in her true love's arms. She was very thankful that it was Saturday and she wasn't needed at the office on weekends, she could afford to cuddle a few more hours. But she found herself really wanting to check up on Ruby. She wanted to see if the girl was still there or if she had left yet, Regina felt a twig of disappointment settling in her chest at the thought of Ruby just up and leaving before she could see her. There was no way she could go back to sleep with not knowing. Plus, Henry would be up by 8:30 so she had to get up and get breakfast started.
With that thought in mind, Regina shifted to get up when Emma tightened her hold around her and pulled her back down. Regina smirked, they had this same routine every weekend. Regina would wake up, try to get out of bed when Emma would pull her back and plead with her to stay longer in bed, Regina would agree and settle back in, then 5 to 10 minutes later Emma would be out once again and Regina would be able to escape her hold to make breakfast. Weekends were mostly spent at home with they're son, typically watching movies or playing games and just spending time together as a family.
Regina looked at Emmas face and knew she was awake, the small grin on her lips giving her away as usual. Smiling, Regina laid back down and gave her love a kiss on the lips. " Good morning my love", she said, rubbing her nose gently over Emmas.
Emma opened her forest green eyes and looked at the woman she loved, never tiring of waking up and seeing Reginas beautiful face every morning. She's the happiest she's ever been, she has her true love, her parents, a new baby brother and her son. What more could she ask for?. She was as shocked as everyone else when they found out Regina was her true love, but ultimately came to accept it as easily as breathing. Her parents, Snow White and Prince Charming, had taken longer to come around but they had finally accepted the ex evil queen was they're daughter's true love, they knew better then anyone that you can't fight fate. The last two months have been amazing, living together and getting to know each other has confirmed that fate is never wrong, she truly loves this woman, and because of the true love's connection they shared Emma was a hundred percent sure that Regina loved her just as much.
Giving Regina another quick peck Emma said, " Good morning Gina".
Regina gave her a loving smile, " Are you going to let me up so I can start on breakfast dear?", she asked, already knowing the answer.
Emma whined and pulled her closer, burying her head in Reginas neck. " Nooo, lets stay in bed a little longer", she whined.
Regina gave a small laugh at her lovers childish behavior, but she wouldn't have her any other way, Emma Swan was perfect in her eyes. Settling herself back in, " You know I can never resist when your this cute my love", she stated. Emma giving her a small kiss on her shoulder as a response. True to her word Regina stayed in bed with her love for another 10 minutes, and also true to her thoughts Emma was out like a light in no time. Regina gave her another quick kiss before gently getting out of bed. She headed for her bathroom, quickly discarding her robe and stepping into the warm shower. 10 minutes later she was stepping out of her bathroom and heading for her walk-in closet to get dressed.
On weekends Regina would usually dress in comfier clothing instead of her usual power suits and skirts. This time she chose black Adidas leggings and a long sleeved white off the shoulders top, paired with black ankle high socks. Now fully dressed Regina stepped out of her closet and headed for her vanity mirror, she grabbed a brush and started brushing her long black hair. She had missed having long hair so she used magic to make it long again, just a few inches shorter then Emmas ( who's reached the middle of her back). Once satisfied that all the knots were gone Regina decided to put it up in a high ponytail. Taking a quick look at her alarm clock she saw it was 10 passed 7, she had just enough time to get everything ready before her love and her son would rise from slumber.
Looking at herself in the mirror once again Regina couldn't help but want to look good, after all she was hoping Ruby would still be down there, and the need to impress her was both exciting and baffling. As soon as she had a chance she was planning on talking to Eugenia about this, she had a feeling whatever was going on had something to do with Ruby being a Child of the Moon, but why Regina seemed to be affected was still a mystery.
Taking a deep calming breath when the thought of the wolf girl caused her heart rate to speed up, Regina cooled her features and headed out of her room and down the stairs. She could feel that unknown feeling growing inside of her the closer she got to the living room, she knew for certain Ruby was still there, she didn't know how she knew but it was like she could sense her.
Stepping into the living room she stopped at the sight before her. Ruby had shifted in her sleep, she had laid herself on her stomach, left arm hanging off the couch while the other rested under the pillow. The blanket had conveniently covered everything from the waist down, leaving only her back exposed. Regina ignored the feeling of disappointment at the sight of less skin.
Taking quiet steps due to knowing of the girls amazing hearing, Regina walked over to her. Once she was hovering over her she could clearly see the girl better. Her long brunette hair had some red stresses to it that complimented her very well, it also reached all the way down to her waist line. Trailing her eyes over Rubys exposed back Regina licked her lips at the clear muscle there, it was obvious the girl was strong. As her eyes reached lower Regina felt moisture pool between her legs at the sight of back dimples, those had always been a weakness of hers, all she wanted was to trail her tongue over them. But something brought any sexual thought she was currently having to a screeching stop, eyes narrowing slightly Regina leaned closer towards Rubys lower back, moving some of the girl's hair slightly out of the way to uncover what was under it. There, just above where Rubys lower back and backside met, was a scar. It went from the right side of Rubys lower back up towards her side, Regina could see it stopped just above her belly button. Anger, so much anger. She's seen plenty of slashes on people to know what it looked like, someone had definitely slashed Ruby. Regina felt an unbelievable amount of anger filling her very soul, just the thought of someone putting their filthy hands on her and hurting her making her want to revert back to her old self and hunt this person or persons down to destroy them in the most painful way possible. She felt her magic flare with her anger, wanting to be released on anything in sight.
Taking a deep calming breath, Regina forced her magic down. Now was not the time to act recklessly, she guessed she had another reason to talk to Eugenia. She decided not to even try to fight whatever was causing her to want to know everything about Ruby, starting with how she got that scar that tainted her beautiful skin.
As she thought this she noticed Ruby starting to stir, she seemed to be waking up.
Heart racing Regina quickly stood back up and headed out of the room with less grace then she would of liked and headed into the kitchen, the thought of Ruby catching her staring making her nervous. She walked into the kitchen and started pulling things out of the fridge as if she had been doing that the whole time, ears listening in to the sounds coming from her living room.
Ruby groaned, blue eyes refusing to open. She was so comfortable, she didn't think the forest ground would be so comfy. Plus, it was the best sleep she's had in months. She was surrounded by such an amazing scent, her nose loving it so much. Wait, the ground is never this comfy. What the hell??. Blue eyes shot open, immediately looking around her surroundings. What?. She's inside Reginas mansion, living room by the looks of it. She knew how it looked like because of the few times she's come here to drop off food for the mayor and her son. But why was she here?.
Then as if a door in her brain had opened, her memories crashed into her. The full moon last night, waking up in Reginas backyard, Regina finding her and offering her a place to sleep. All those strange unknown feelings for Regina flooding her heart. Yeah, she had to get out of here and talk to granny as soon as possible. Plus, she didn't know if she could hold herself back from doing something stupid if she saw Regina again.
Mind made up, Ruby quickly threw the blanket covering her off herself and sat up. She ran a hand through her hair to manage it a little. Seeing the way to the front door she quickly got up off the couch and made to book it, not realizing the blanket tangling itself around her feet. Usually Rubys reflexes were top notch, but being surrounded by Reginas scent was clouding her senses.
Next thing she knew Ruby hit the floor and fell on her back hard. Face facing the ceiling, she could do nothing but stare in shock at the ceiling. She was starting to get the feeling that the universe didn't want her to be away from Regina, but she would have to be in order to get some answers.
Regina was walking back into the living room when she heard the fall. She raised an eyebrow as she walked into the living room and saw the couch empty. Judging by the sounds she picked up from the kitchen, Ruby had most likely panicked and tried to make a run for it, unsuccessfully by the sound of it. Smirking slightly, Regina picked up her pace and walked towards her front door. As she walked in, she couldn't help but raise a hand to her mouth to hold back the laugh that was gonna spill over at the sight before her. There Ruby was, unceremoniously laying on her floor. By the looks of it the girl had managed to tangle herself in the blanket and had tripped on her escape. Regina couldn't help but thank the blanket, she was sure Ruby would have been long gone if she hadn't tripped.
Smirk still on her face. Regina walked towards the girl and leaned down to hover over her face, hands resting on her knees. She made sure to stare only at Rubys face, ignoring the urge to feast her eyes on the gorgeous body still on display.
Rubys eyes lit up as Reginas beautiful face came into view, forgetting all about her escape she just stared at the other woman. Taking in all her features, her beautiful smooth cheeks, full kissable lips, cute bottom nose, and those captivating brown eyes. Emma you lucky bitch, thought Ruby.
Regina smiled down at the other woman, butterflies fluttering in her stomach as she saw Rubys eyes light up at the sight of her. " Good morning Pup, you enjoying yourself?", she asked playfully.
At the sound of Reginas voice Ruby snapped out of whatever trance she seemed to be in and quickly got to her feet, grabbing the blanket around her feet to cover herself up. She swears her face has never been so hot before, now she truly felt like she deserved the name Red.
Coughing slightly to try and take the attention off her burning face Ruby looked anywhere but at Regina as she answered, " Your hardwood floor is pretty comfortable", she said, trying to squash down her embarrassment. She was a fearless powerful wolf, what was she doing getting all flustered?!.
Regina gave her floor a curious look before answering back, " Well it better be, I paid a lot of money for it", she said. She gave Ruby a discreet once over before stating, " Would you like some clothes dear? I can't imagine you like wondering around exposed like that". She was secretly hoping Ruby would decline her offer, that way she could sneak peaks at her glorious body whenever she got the chance.
Ruby finally managed to squash down some of her earlier embarrassment enough to look at Regina, she gave her a small thankful smile. " Thanks, but it's okay. I have a bag in the woods with clothing in it for when I change back to my human form".
Regina gave her an interested look, " Do you always need to be naked whenever you change?" She asked. She really was super curious and interested in learning everything about werewolves, and Ruby was the only one in Storybrooke so who better then her?. Well she could also ask granny, but no offense to Eugenia but she much preferred the gorgeous blue eyed woman in front of her.
Ruby looked surprised for a moment at the question, then she gave a wide smile. No one else had taken an interest in learning about her kind, she sometimes wished to have someone to talk to about the things she could do. Regina seeming to sincerely want to know about her made that unknown feeling for the other woman grow. " Not really, werewolf's can change fully clothed and change back to human form with their clothes intact. But I'm still working on how to do that. The last few times I've tried my clothes just vanish as if I was never wearing them in the first place", she said.
Regina gave her a look of wonderment, there was more to being a Child of the Moon then she thought.
Ruby wished she could stay here and talk with Regina for hours on end, get to know everything about the ex evil queen and share some of her stories as well. She just wanted to know everything about Regina and share all of herself as well, in more ways then one. But she really should go, she had to get some answers from granny about all this. Being a Child of the Moon meant that she was always going through strange things when it came to her kind, she was always discovering knew things that she could do. Like how she can probably lift a car, or run as fast or faster then one, or how she can see perfectly in complete darkness. In other words, she's not surprised that something new is coming up with her wolf. What's shocking is that it seems to be revolving around Regina, and it doesn't seem to be a new power. It's almost like a powerful force is connecting her with the ex evil queen, a force equally or more so powerful then the need to transform under the full moon. She had to know what the hell was going on, and much as her body and soul were urging her to stay with Regina the need for answers was a tad bit more powerful.
So with her heart deflating at the thought of leaving the mayor, Ruby spoke up. " Anyways, I really should get going. I have a shift at the diner at 10am and I wouldn't want to be late again, granny would chew me out", she said, giving a small chuckle at the mention of her forever strict grandmother. She looked at Regina and gave her a mega watt smile," Thanks for letting me crash here, and I'm sorry again for disrupting your night. I'll try my best to not to let the full moon affect me that much again".
Reginas heart dropped at the thought of Ruby leaving again, she wanted her to stay. But it felt like she didn't have a good enough excuse to convince the blue eyed beauty to stay a little longer. Then when Ruby gave her another smile and a nod of her head before she turned around and started heading for the door, Reginas instinct took over and she grabbed onto the first excuse that she thought of. Quickly raising her hand she vanished in a cloud of purple smoke to once again reappear in front of Ruby, stopping her escape a second time. But this time she had miscalculated the distance between herself and the other woman, for when she reappeared Ruby ended up bumping right into her.
It was as if time itself had stopped. The force of Ruby bumping into her had caused Regina to stumble backwards, she expected to hit the front door when a strong pair of arms wrapped themselves around her waist and stopped her fall. Pulling Regina closer to herself Ruby looked intensely into Reginas eyes, wanting to be absolutely sure that she wasn't hurt in any way, " Are you okay?, are you hurt anywhere?", she asked quickly, worry evident in her voice.
Regina looked up into those pulls of blue staring back at her, such a beautiful shade of blue. Being pressed up against Ruby like this made her aware of a couple things she hadn't noticed before. First, Ruby was very tall. She's easily a head taller then her, Reginas forehead coming to rest just below the wolfs chin. Emma and Regina were roughly the same height, her blonde lover being about an inch or two taller then her. But with heels on Regina easily passed her true love by an inch. Ruby on the other hand would most likely still have a good few inches on her even if Regina wore her tallest pair of heels, a thought that excited her very much. Next, Ruby was hot. Not just physically speaking, but temperature wise as well. Regina could feel the heat radiating off her body in waves, it wasn't uncomfortably hot but definitely warmer then a regular human, Regina guessed it had something to do with being a wolf. Last but definitely not least, she smells amazing. If Regina had to describe it in anyway, it would be sweet and spicy with a hint of danger. Such an intoxicating scent. Ruby holding her close like this, staring at her with such worry, her scent surrounding Regina and that delicious heat radiating off her body and into Regina was causing her to melt. She could feel her underwear getting wet, her face heating up, eyes darkening, mouth watering as those oh so kissable lips were mere inches away.
" Regina?, please answer. Are you okay?" Asked Ruby worriedly, extremely scared that she might of hurt the other woman. Her worry was so great that the fact that Regina was pressed up against her didn't even register, all her focus was just on making sure she was perfectly okay.
Regina looked into Rubys eyes and smiled, feeling touched that the wolf seemed to care about her this much. " I'm okay Pup, thanks to you for catching me", she stated, her arms unconsciously wrapping themselves around the taller woman's neck, it was almost like they've done this a thousand times before.
When Regina finally answered Ruby felt her shoulders slump a little, she didn't know what she would of done with herself if she had hurt a single hair on Regina. The tension she had felt while waiting for an answer melting away completely, she unconsciously tightened her hold on Regina. Not caring that the blanket that had previously been covering her naked body had fallen to pool at their feet, having Regina in her arms was making her forget everything and everyone else. Taking a deep breath to inhale Reginas delicious scent, Ruby lowered her head and gently rubbed her nose to Reginas. It's like her body was on autopilot, doing what felt like the most natural thing in the world to her.
Regina rubbed her own nose against Rubys gently, her mind foggy. She couldn't help but feel that this was right, it's like when it came to Ruby this was how they were meant to be.
Ruby distractedly leaned her forehead against Reginas, mind clear enough to not go for those tempting full lips even if the urge was basically killing her. " Is there umm," she started. Barely able to form a coherent sentence with Regina pressed against her. So close, so very close. Still staring into those pools of brown she forced the rest of her question out, " Was there a reason why you stopped me?", she finally asked. Thumbs gently rubbing Reginas lower back, her shirt had ridden up a little since putting her arms around Rubys neck so the wolf had access to the smooth soft skin there.
Licking her lips slightly while taking another whiff of the taller girls delicious aroma, Regina answered back while leaning a little more into the warm body. " I was just wondering if you would like to stay for breakfast", she said, looking up into blue eyes. She stopped trying to understand why, that can wait until later, right now her heart and body want Ruby to stay longer and she didn't feel like going against them.
Ruby swallowed a little at the pleading in Reginas eyes, how in the world can she say no?. " Are you sure?, you've already done enough for me". She whispered, not wanting to disrupt the moment they seemed to be in. She started to gently sway with Regina, as if slow dancing while they remained locked in each other's eyes and arms wrapped around each other.
Regina nodded her head, gently stroking Rubys long soft hair. " I'm sure dear, it would be great to have you with us. You know Emma and Henry would love to see you". She stated. It's shocking that not even the mention of her true love could rip her away from this moment, if anything she wished to have Emmas arms around her too at this very moment.
" Okay, if your sure. Ummm thank you", answered Ruby shyly. Regina gave her an adoring smile back. Even though they cleared that up neither of them made to move from their position. Regina was feeling too safe and secured in Rubys arms, and Ruby was feeling protective and comfortable with the woman in her arms.
" Hey mom!, can you make chocolate chip waffles?!", came the unmistakable voice of Henry from upstairs. His voice broke the bubble that the two were in. Regina and Ruby quickly stepped away from each other, both red faced. Ruby quickly picked up the forgotten blanket and covered herself with it once again, pointedly looking at anywhere but Regina, who was also trying not to meet her eye.
Coughing slightly to dispel the awkwardness that had suddenly fallen between them, Regina quickly walked back towards the living room and yelled up to her son. " Alright sweetheart, make sure to wash up before coming down", she stated back, hearing a quick response back before she heard his footsteps residing.
Taking a deep calming breath to slow down her heartbeat, Regina schooled her features into the best poker face she could manage. She walked back to where she left Ruby and saw the girl still standing there, she seemed to have gotten closer to the door, a frown forming on Reginas face as soon as she noticed.
" Your not planning on leaving yet are you?, your still welcomed for breakfast. As you heard, there will be chocolate chip waffles". She said, trying to make it seem like what happened before Henry interrupted wasn't a big deal, when in reality Regina couldn't stop thinking about it.
Ruby looked a little surprised, she thought that after what happened a few minutes ago she wouldn't be wanted. By the looks of it Regina was trying to make it seem like that moment they shared wasn't a big deal, that thought filled Ruby with both relief and hurt. Pushing the hurt down she decided to focus on the positives, Regina still wanted her to stay, she counts that as a win in her book.
Giving the mayor the best convincing smile she could, Ruby answered back. " Um sure, that sounds great".
Regina gave her a once over before nodding. Then as if having an after thought she smirked at Ruby, eyes bright. " Are you sure you don't want some clothes darling, or do you typically eat breakfast in the nude?", she asked.
Ruby gave her a sheepish grin, " Yeah typically I do, when I'm in my own home", she said. Regina couldn't help the images that flooded her mind at the thought of a naked Ruby Lucas walking around her home showing off her impressive body.
Coughing slightly Regina gave the wolf a grin, " Well dear, in this house we typically eat breakfast fully clothed", she said back in a joking manner.
Rubys grin widened, " I gathered that. Are you going to magic me some clothes?" She asked.
Regina raised her eyebrow, as if the answer should be obvious. Ruby gave her an unimpressed look, " Stupid answer to a stupid question. Okay, sure I'll take some clothes thank you", said Ruby.
Regina smirked, " Alright, what can I conjure up for you?", she asked.
Ruby thought about it, she felt like going for another run before heading in for her shift. It felt like she didn't get to run enough last night so she'll squeeze it in before work. Looking back at Regina, " Maybe just a big shirt to cover myself up?", she asked.
Regina raised an eyebrow at the request, " Are you sure you don't want anything else? I'm a little drained of magic but I can definitely make you an entire outfit ", she said. It's true that ever since battling her sister Zelena both Emma and herself had used up an outrageous amount of magic, which unfortunately after the battle was over had left them both drained completely. They're magic has been returning slowly, but it's already been two months and they still weren't at a hundred percent. The most Regina can do at the moment is teleport to near by places and conjure up clothing, anything else more advanced would have to wait until her magic was fully restored.
Ruby gave her a wolfish grin in return, " I'm sure you can, but I'm thinking about possibly going for another run before my shift. Now that I got the hang of transforming without the full moon I can go on runs as the wolf whenever I want. I don't want to have you conjure me up and entire outfit when it'll just go to waste when I transform", she explained.
Regina could see the sense in that, so without another word she raised her hand and Ruby was then dressed in an oversized red shirt that reached her knees with a wolf howling at the moon printed in the front. Ruby gave her an amused look after checking her new shirt out, Regina just smirked in response.
They shared another moment as they're eyes locked, goofy smiles on both their faces. Then Regina remembered that Henry would be coming down soon so she had to get breakfast started. Before she could say anything Ruby beat her to it, " Would you like some help in the kitchen?, I'm not as skilled as granny but I know my way around a stove", she said with a small smile.
Regina gave her an appreciative smile, " That would be splendid, it would be nice to have someone help me cook for once without the fear of the house being burned down", she said. Giving Ruby another thankful look before turning around and heading for her kitchen, Rubys footsteps close behind her.
Ruby let out a small laugh at Reginas comment, " Does Emma not know how to cook?", she asked.
" If you count making a bowl of cereal and milk cooking, then you can say she does", said Regina back, a small laugh of her own escaping her. Even if Emma almost burned her house down a couple of times already, it was still the most adorable thing to watch her true love fiddle around in the kitchen.
Ruby snickered some at the thought, " Well let's hope some of granny's skills rubbed off on me", she said teasingly back.
Regina gave her an amused smirk, " I really do hope so dear", she said back while starting to gather the ingredients necessary for breakfast while Ruby started up the stove.
