Naruto sat with guru Pathik, a very old man, if anyone earned the title of old man it was this guru. He was almost 150 years old. Apparently the guru had a vision of Naruto doing great things, but only if he found peace within himself. As boring as that sounded, Naruto didn't want to find out what would happen if he lost control of the kyuubi. One of the first things the guru said to him was "you have a great anger in you, though it is not all your own. You possess a powerful demon in you, for you to find peace, you must first conquer yourself and your demons" after that Naruto knew that this guru was the real deal if he could sense the fox. Unfortunately right after he wasn't so sure anymore. Because he was given the most disgusting food known to man. Onion and banana juice. But it didn't matter, he needed help.

"Earth style: earth pillar platforms'' Naruto said

and slammed his hands on the ground. Large Pillars with spikes on the end formed out of the ground. It was a jutsu he got from the scroll, it was to help him learn to meditate. When he'd told the guru about it the guru smiled and told him to begin. The guru walked up to the pillars and smiled

"Let us begin"

Suddenly the guru floated up to the pillar and sat on the platform on the spiky top, perfectly balanced.

"HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!" Naruto yelled, the guru simply smiled "ancient air bending technique" Naruto was shocked

"You're an AIRBENDER!" the old man smiled

"Of course, how do you think I got up the mountain? This temple has been my home since I was young. I received a vision of my people's demise, but also one of my helping a…important young man, it was then that I knew I must survive. So I left the temple for many years, then returned after the genocide." he said sadly.

Naruto nodded and jumped all the way to the top, but the moment he sat on the platform he lost balance and fell down, the old man guru laughed. This continued for hours, Naruto wasn't able to be perfectly balanced for more than a few seconds. Eventually it was sundown and naruto was making a fire, while he left clones to practice the meditation.

"Let us try something different" Naruto looked at the guru and grunted, the guru smiled.

"Naruto, your world has Chakra, and though it is different. So does this one. I will teach you to unlock your Chakras and through it find peace within yourself" Naruto just yawned "sure,sure. I start in the morning" the guru just grunted.

It was the following day and Naruto was told about chakras, the pools of energy he had within him. Naruto had an easy time with the earth chakra because he overcame fear all the time. But the following three were much harder than he anticipated. Naruto hadn't realized that he had so much guilt and shame about failing to bring Sasuke back, he also discovered that he felt shame about being the holder of the nine tailed fox. Though with some difficulty he was able to overcome those feelings. He realized that he shouldn't put so much pressure on himself to bring Sasuke back FOR Sakura, so he resolved to bring Sasuke back for his own reasons, simply because he wanted his friend back. He also learned to be proud to hold the nine tails, that it made him who he is. The sound chakra was easy since Naruto didn't really lie. Then when the guru told him that the light chakra was blocked by illusion he thought there'd be nothing there, but he discovered that his whole world was an illusion. Both his world and this new one had imaginary borders that separated people who were all really one, this further inspired Naruto to break the cycle of hatred. And to one day build a place where people of all nations and backgrounds come together.

But everything fell apart with the last chakra, though Naruto didn't have many close friends, he couldn't let go of team seven, even though he hadn't seen them in so long. They held a special place in his heart. Naruto didn't even attempt to open it

"I'm sorry, I can't give up my team, they are the closest thing I have to a family" Naruto then walked away from the guru.

Later Naruto sent a letter to jiraiya asking him for advice on the matter, luckily jirayia had great advice, he told Naruto that on missions he can't let his personal feelings get in the way, but that off missions he can be himself. So maybe he had to let go of his attachments, but not forever. And he was right. The moment Naruto let team 7 float down the river, the guru felt the change in Naruto and said that he has achieved spiritual enlightenment that few others have achieved. But when Naruto focused on his friends the 7th chakra closed. Surprising the guru. Naruto had ended up teaching the guru something, that with Naruto there all no rules, and to expect anything and everything when it came to the whiskered blonde

Sasuke had been training hard, and Azula had been watching every step of the way. Sasuke had begun experimenting on Kakashi's chidori. Trying out different variants of lightning style. Sasuke had also been practicing with the way of the sword, he had recently found out about master Piandao and had asked the fire lord if he could train with him, to which the fire lord agreed. Sasuke would soon head away from the capital to train with Lu ten's master. Though right now Sasuke wasn't thinking about any of that, it was the middle of the night and he was looking at himself in the mirror. Sasuke wore no shirt and he was utilizing stage two of the curse mark. Sasuke looked like a monster, he knew it. But he also knew that this monster form was his greatest source of strength. He has been practicing in secret flying out in the middle of the night, testing his limits, seeing what he could do in this new form.

Yet under all that power he felt, there was an underlying fear of what would happen if the fire nation found out. What would Iroh, Azula, Zuko, Ozai think of him? Would they cast him out? Sasuke knew that Orchimaru was a monster, and that anything from him was sure to be cursed. Yet Sasuke expected the gift he had given him. Even when the name of the gift literally had 'curse' in it.

Sasuke was treated as a prince, he was often called that too. He had a whole palace willing to do anything for him, would that all go away? He knew that it was a ploy by Ozai to get him to stay. To make him feel so welcomed as to never leave. Sasuke wasn't naive, but he did love the attention and how everyone treated him. At the leaf everyone looked at him with pity, or involving his fangirls with lust. In the fire nation it was nothing like that.

sorry this chapter took a while, but i wanted to get it right.

this was the parallel i was talking about. Naruto who was ashamed of his demons/monster is now proud to hold the nine tails in him. and accepts who he is. while Sasuke is scared and ashamed of his power, and how he will be treated differently if people find out
