here is the first meeting between team avatar and naruto. this is the winter solistice episode part 1. and sorry no sasuke in this chapter

Naruto was jumping through trees at a fast pace, while traveling he became concerned when he stopped sensing life at a certain location. So he was heading there. Suddenly Naruto stopped in shock, what he saw was horrific. An entire forest burned down, every living thing was gone. Naruto slowly began walking through the ash, until he came across a panda statue. He sighed and sat down to meditate. When he heard a loud roar
"Araghh"
Naruto looked into the sky and saw what looked like a flying bison. He was shocked, then happy. He'd seen these creatures before. Paintings and statues all over the air temple, Naruto knew the avatar had to be on the bison. The creature landed and the occupants climbed off
"HEY! Over here! I'm Naruto" Naruto yelled while waving his arms around
Sokka looked at Naruto strangely "who are you, did you do all this destruction!?" He said with an accusatory finger
Naruto was surprised "what! No of course not, I just found it like this, but anyway I need to talk to you"
Sokka pointed to himself "me?"
Naruto stared at Sokka dumbly "what of course not, him *pointing at Aang* the avatar"
But Aang didn't acknowledge Naruto, he just sank to his knees. Sad at the loss of life. And his actions or more accurately inaction involving it.
Naruto walked up to Aang "hey, I know this is sad….but I really need to talk to you"
Aang still didn't budge, Naruto was going to attempt again when he heard Sokka yell
"Fire Nation! Those evil savages make me sick!"
Naruto turned sharply towards sokka "stop it"
"What?" Sokka looked confused
"Stop hating them, I know it's hard….but you need to let go of your hate, or the war will never end"
Sokka was even more confused "what? that doesn't make any sense, hating the fire nation gives us reason to fight. And only by fighting can we beat the fire nation and stop this war!" He said passionately
"Yeah, well what then!?" Naruto rebuked
"If you beat the fire nation with hate, then after the war. Everyone will still hate the fire nation, then that hate will just restart the war. For there to be peace the war has to end the right way, for the right reasons"
Sokka stopped and just looked down, thinking of Naruto's words. While Katara, Katara was highly infatuated with Naruto
The way Naruto spoke, what he was saying. And how he looked. Katara was immediately inspired and…. attracted to it, she blushed and looked away, but in doing so she saw Aang. Then remember how he was feeling. She has to cheer him up. She looked around the burnt forest, then saw a nut. That gave her an idea.
"Hey Aang! Ready to be cheered up?" she asked cheerfully
Aang replied with a simple depressed "no" to which he received a nut to the head
"What? How is that cheering me up?" Aang asked annoyed
Katara walked up to Aang and knelt down to his level "this acorns are everywhere, everyone of these will be a tall oak tree someday"
Naruto then noticed momo stuffing his face with said acorns
"The forest will grow back" katara said reassuringly
Aang smiled thankfully to which Katara smiled back. An old man soon appeared asking for the avatar's help. To which he agreed to help. On the way to the village Naruto walked up to katara
"That was amazing" he said
Katara looked confused. "What?"
Naruto smiled brightly "what you did back there, you managed to cheer the avatar up, something even I couldn't do….and I cheer everybody up"
Katara blushed "thanks" she said shyly
Soon they arrived, only to see a partially destroyed village. Naruto asked
"What happened here?"
"It's best if the village leader tells you all in person"
When they meet the leader of the village he was very honored to meet Aang, but when he laid his eyes on naruto he was flabbergasted
"The Hokage!? But you haven't been seen in 2 years. People thought you were dead!"
Naruto just smiled embarrassedly "yeahhh…. I was just training, i needed to get stronger"
Katara had a look of realization "your that hokage guy haru told us about. How you rescued his father and all the earth benders!"
Naruto smiled fondly "oh! Haru! How's he doing, and his village, are they doing better?"
"Uh, yeah. He said that the hokage taught the villagers how to fight for themselves and that he freed all the earthbenders" but then she looked at Naruto in awe, over the course of their journey she has heard many tells of the hokage, in omashu, haru's village, kyoshi island.
"You're the hokage! Oh, i've heard so many stories about you is it true-" katara started rambling about mostly inaccurate stories about naruto and his legend as the hokage. But he just smiled and blushed a little
"Yep, that's me. But not everything you've heard is true, people tend to exaggerate"
Katara just nodded. Sokka then walked up to naruto
"You don't seem like the mighty warrior the people make you out to be"
The leader quickly defended naruto "he is the greatest warrior the world has ever seen, only the avatar could be a match for him! But his strength isn't in his fighting skills but with his word, his teachings on the cycle of hatred have spread far, now rarely any earth kingdom troops attack the fire nation on sight, rather try and find a peaceful solution. And the taxes on our people have lessened, some of the fire nation seem to be swayed by the hokage's words. So don't insult him!"
Sokka just stepped back "all right, all right, sheesh. I get it he's a big war hero peacemaker whatever, *then points to Aang* and he's the avatar. We get it, we're in a room with great people. Can we move on?"
The leader then went on to explain their plight, at sunset an angry spirit would attack their home and take one of their own. And that only the avatar can stop it. Aang was uncertain and didn't really know what to do, but he had to try.
It was sunset and Aang stood at the edge of the village waiting for the spirit. Naruto was in the main hall, but he had clones surrounding it, prepared to defend the people if need be.
When the spirit arrived it didn't go well, aang tried talking to it. But it just wouldn't listen. Sokka eventually got tired of doing nothing and went out to help to fight the spirit. Naruto though, he didn't. If his time with the guru taught him anything, it is that the spirits are not to be trifled with, and that the avatar is the only human meant to interact with spirits. So Naruto wouldn't engage, only defend. Sokka ended up getting taken by the spirit, and Aang chased after him. Naruto didn't follow
Katar looked at Naruto angrily "why didn't you help!? My brother is now captured?!"
Naruto replied calmly "as much as i want to, i studied with someone really spiritual-ly" he said the last part with uncertainty "anyway the spirits are not to be messed with, only the avatar should interact with them" Naruto then put his hand to his chin "though if a spirit visits you, then it's fair game…..or your dead"
Katara just looked down depressed, then sat at the edge of the village. Naruto joined her
"Don't worry, the avatar can do this. It's in his blood, or at least his incarnations blood"
"Aang, the avatar's name is Aang"
Naruto smiled "Aang"
He hadn't come back, it had been hours. But still no sign of sokka or Aang. Naruto then noticed katara shivering, he proceeded to give her his sage coat. Katara lightly blushed, then stopped when she immediately became warm
"How is your coat so warm?"
Naruto just grinned "oh! I put seals on it to adapt to any temperature, so no matter what the wearer will feel the same"
Katara looked amazed "i didn't understand the first part, but that sounds amazing"
"yeah seals are amazing, it took me forever to get the theory behind them, but when it comes to writing them it's like instinct" Naruto then looks at katara. "You see, I come from a great clan of seal masters, it's in my blood. Thats why its so easy *looks at katara* that's why i know Aang can do this, because it's in his blood, and he'll have the past avatars to help him"
At that point katara stopped listening "wait what!? Aang was concerned that nobody could teach him to be the avatar, but now you're saying that he can talk to his past lives?"
"Yeah, their spirits are connected to him, it's a great blessing and a great curse. *quietly* i know exactly what it's like"
"Oh shut up you brat! You should be honored to be my jinchuriki, you have the great Kyuubiu no Kitsune inside you, i wield unimaginable power…power to stop the war in a heartbeat"
Naruto internally sighed, the fox has been trying to get Naruto to use its power for a while now, it was annoying, and at times tempting. But Naruto promised himself that he wouldn't use its power again. Not after he nearly destroyed the temple and killed the guru. Naruto felt awful for further damaging the temple, he'd have to apologize to Aang one day. But at least the fox didn't ramble on about how weak he was, in a way naruto felt he earned the fox's respect
"Not happening you furball, now leave me alone!" Naruto said mentally. Naruto and the fox were about to get into one of their usually arguments when
"What was that Naruto?"
Naruto looked at katara shyly, realizing he'd said that last part out loud. He waved his hand off "don't worry about it 'tara. It's nothing"
Katara blushed at the nickname causing her to forget about her previous concerns involving naruto. While naruto was completely oblivious to anything and everything involving the effect he had on katara…..
It was the following day Katara was sad at the loss of her brother and Aang. Naruto didn't know exactly how to help. So he just decided to spend time with her and help her clean up around the village. Katara told Naruto about her home in the south pole, and how they met aang. Naruto told her a bit more about his abilities and his version of his feats in the war against the fire nation. They had a nice time, until it was sunset the spirit would return and naruto wouldn't let it take another villager, it may be the avatar's duty. But the avatar wasn't there. So it was up to naruto. Naruto was about to start formulating a plan when
"AANG!"
Naruto turned and saw Aang arriving on his glider, Katara immediately rushed to hug him, then proceeded to ask where her brother was, he didn't know. Naruto walked up then asked
"What are you going to do now aang? The spirit will be returning very soon. If you don't have a plan then i'll have to intervene"
"No! No! I know what to do. I'll help this town and help the spirit"
Naruto nodded.
Everything turned out fine, the spirit was just upset about the destruction of the forest, naruto understood. He'd be pretty upset if someone destroyed his secret ramen stash. But it;s what happened after that had really shocked naruto.
"You were trapped in the spirit world for 24 hours….how are you feeling?" katara asked her brother
"Like i seriously need to use the bathroom"
Naruto nodded "understandable"
They were in front of the villagers who had just offered to help the avatar in any way they could to which sokka said
"We could use some food AND money"
"RAMEN!" naruto immediately added
Katara immediately elbowed both sokka and naruto
"What we need stuff" and "but i need my energy" sokka and naruto said
Aang added his great avatar wisdom "actually naruto, i don't think ramen provides a lot of energy for the body"
Naruto was about to duke it out with the avatar for insulting ramen, when the leader just smiled and said that they would be happy to provide for them
Aang then told us that he could contact Avatar Roku's spirit, but that to do that he had to go to his temple by the winter solstice. In the fire nation, katara and sokka looked on in dredd. But naruto just smirked
"This is gonna be fun!"
ok so i didn't go over aang's adventure in the spirit world or iroh and zuko's part in the episdoe, i'm not gonna go over parts that stay cannon.
and with the dynamic with katara and naruto, i'm trying to get katara to kind of have a toned down version of jet, where she has a crush on him but not to the point where she disregards all sense of logic and reason. and with naruto it'll be a toned down version of hinata, where he's oblivious but not a complete idoit, so eventually when he notices katara blushes and whatnot his first conclusion won't be "she must be sick"
and the next chapter naruto and zuko will meet, and i'm going back in forth between 2 nicknames naruto could have for zuko, either pony tail or bushy brow(not brows) because when you look at season one zuko, he really does have one prominent eye brow
