"But to answer to original question, you can find tons of strong Pokemon, I was actually thinking of grabbing a Scyther but I never knew about that Mankey News, maybe one day I'll get one too but for now, I'll stick with bugs," Samurai explained.
"Anyways there's a ton of rare Pokemon here. Everyone think's that there's only Caterpie and Weedle but in the stream nearby there's Magikarp, Shellder, and I've even seen a Feebas! Sometimes I see a bunch of Pokemon group up to battle each other while a Clefairy heals them up. Usually a Bulbasaur, a Beedrill, and a Pichu have an all out brawl and end up knocking each other out,"
"There fights is actually how I met my Pinsir since since he was also watching the fights with me, we had an agreement to get strong enough to beat all the Pokemon there and they usually happen once every 2 weeks at I'm pretty sure today is the day for it!" Samurai ranted, taking the pause to inhale, exhale, and then continue.
"And the Scyther I was talking about usually end up boxing with the Beedrill in groups so I could probably battle and one of both especially with our training!" Samurai exclaimed in excitement.
Holy shit! Ho ho holy shit!
Ain't no way the Viridian Forest as this much goodies just hidden in plain sight?
The first maze in Kanto? With a bunch of Bug Catchers, Weedle, and Caterpie?
Feebas? Scyther? Bulbasaur? Pichu? Clefairy?
All just hidden in plain sight? Ready for capture?
Clefairy for Gravity Training, Healing, Self-Healing, and Tutoring due to Clefairy learning tons of useful moves like Cosmic Power, Teleport, Moonblast, Moonlight, Soft-Boiled, Block, Heal, Minimize, Double Team, Gravity, Life Dew, Metronome, Follow Me, After You, Swift, Fling, Charge Beam, Rest, Light Screen, Reflect, Sleep Talk and a shit-ton more!
But...
Hold it!
We got to break it down because I will only get 2 Pokemon and 2 Pokemon only. I can't fill up my squad like this!
The Scyther is something that I will have to ignore because I could probably find more at a later date and not to mention that I would cost me a lot of money just to afford a metal coat to evolve him in the first place anyways. Feebas is extremely tempting but I think that I'll have to think about it a bit more.
Not to mention it would be a dick move to grab a Pokemon that my bro Samurai would want, train it better, evolve it first, and then beat his Pokemon with that same Pokemon. That's something that absolute pussy Paul would do. What a fucking loser.
Getting clowned on national television won't be enough for him. At the same time he's a great rival and basically gave Ash his Top 4 performance until the bullshit Tobias was on bringing a Darkai and a Latios. Damn it that's enough ranting about nothing!
Milotic are beautiful, shrill and rare Pokemon but at the same time, The Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise line is absolutely iconic in terms of popularity, being cool starters, being great, having overpowered Mega Evolutions, unfairly made Gigantamax forms, and great move-sets. I don't care if I'm being biased, The Kanto Starters are Top 3 with Sinnoh and Hoenn.
In other terms...
Milotic's are exquisite with amazing special defense and decent special attack, but with my team build, I'm looking for a more tank of a Pokemon.
Like that absolute goat Blastoise!
So Feebas, out. Scyther out. The Clefairy is automatically in because of it's rare typing in Kanto, overpowered move-set, and being a perfect practice dummy for Dragon type attacks die to being a fairy so I won't have to hurt my Pokemon.
I would pick it up but I don't know what would happen with the Diamond and Pearl storyline. It's also why I didn't quick train a Spearow and ride to Kalos to snatch Ash's Treeko and Ash's Froakie since that would fuck everything over and my overpowered Meta knowledge would be straight useless.
The Pichu is also out since most Pichu end up beating the shit out of themselves with there electric type attacks.
If I get my way I could probably get much better electric Pokemon.
If I could get the big bad electric bird in MY party it would be game over for Kanto and Johto alike.
So that leaves the Bulbasaur.
Now I can get an overpowered Venusaur with a busted Mega Evolution, a speed blitzing Chlorophyll ability, and a useful secondary Poison typing to deal with it's weaknesses of Psychic Pokemon and Bug Pokemon. The 3 Starters would be cool but I'm thinking maybe another water type Pokemon would be better like Gyarados, the Feebas turned Milotic, or even a Lapras!
Which kind of makes my whole 'all 3 starters' thing a bit useless.
Fuck.
"Okay after thinking for 12 and half weeks I have come to a conclusion," I speak suddenly alerting Samurai who was checking his Pokeballs, Potions, Repels, and Berries.
"What Pokemon are you thinking of catching?" Samurai responds, placing his Hammer Space backpack on his back and looking at me.
"Probably the Bulbasaur and the Clefairy. The Clefairy could be great for teaching, support, and motivation while the Bulbasaur could evolve into a powerful Venusaur," I say, also putting my slightly smaller Hammer Space bookbag on back before asking another question.
"Hey bro, by the way what berries do you actually have? Some give certain effects, others have negative effects based off a Pokemon's nature while others even could heavily increase a Pokemon's potential in training!" I ask.
"Hm, well remember a few nights ago when I asked to use your Pokedex?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Well I actually used that to further educate myself on the subject of berries! Some of them I forgot the effect of what they do and I didn't know that they could help develop training but I do have some knowledge on this!" Samurai spoke, before continuing to identify his berries.
"I have a couple of Lum and Sitrus berries, to help heal up Pinsir after our sparing sessions since sometimes he get's burned from Charmander's Ember, some Hopo, Leppa, and Oran berries, a lot of Occa, Tamato, and Nanab berries since that's mainly me, Pinsir's, and Butterfree's meals. Pinsir's favorite is the rare Aguav berry I find while Butterfree's favorite is the Mago berry," Samurai unloaded.
"Well, Occa berries have one Fire attack's damage, Tamato berries actually slows a Pokemon but increases the trainer and the Pokemon's bond depending on their relationship, but Nanab Berries actually slow wild Pokemon down so all of that might have an effect on why Pinsir was so slow when me and Kaiser first fought him but due to his intense training, making him fight the slowness could actually help with his training," I said, grabbing the map Samurai handed me and starting to walk in the vague direction of the maps instructions, Samurai quickly following behind me.
Going back to my previous statements, I rebegin by saying, "Hopo, Leppa, and Oran berries are relatively weak so eating them only has a weak healing effect for fatigue."
"The Lum berries are some of them best berries since they heal any status condition like burns, freezes, paralysis, poisoning, toxification, and inflicted sleep. It also heals confusion as well."
"Sitrus berries can heal a quarter of a Pokemon's health which is easily some of the best berries out there!" I finish with a smile on my face, also taking a look on Samurai's map I could see that we were around 30% of the way towards the Pokemon's makeshift tournament.
"Hm, so that is the reason Pinsir was viewed like that to you. You must of known this for a while since I've noticed that Kaiser has gotten so fast that he's left Pinsir in the dust! Literally!" Samurai shouts throwing his hands out humorously, walking behind me as we go over a bridge subsequently made by a large old Oak tree sprawling from one side to the other.
"Hah! Me and Kaiser made a promise. One day, when he becomes a Charizard, we'd train and train and train some more until we reached the top of the world! Matter of fact, Samurai what's your goal as a Pokemon trainer?" I question as we finish crossing the bridge and continue following the map.
For a few minutes, it was dead silent.
Before I could break the silence, Samurai beat me to it.
"I've actually never really thought... About it honestly."
A face of focus quickly overcame his face.
I couldn't break his focus.
Throughout our time of being companions, Samurai usually pretty chill and laid-back.
So, if he's really putting thought into what he has to say...
Interrupting him mid-sentence wouldn't resolve his issue.
To give him more motivation, he needs to find a goal.
Or else, eventually, he'll lose that motivation, weakening his Pokemon and making our sparring sessions worst, making him lose more, continuing the cycle over and over again until he just gives up.
I can't let that happen! Samurai just has too much potential to lose his spark!
Whether as a Pokemon rival, a fellow Pokemon trainer, or maybe even just as friends, if I want to help out Samurai, I need to do it in the best way possible.
This time, not with a speech in the style of a Talk-No-Jutsu.
But letting him figure it out himself!
"Wow, this gave me so many ideas. I never even thought about leaving the Viridian Forest but training with you, it feels like I can do something important without being a footnote in someone's else's greatness." Samurai started, but quickly continued.
"To be a Bug Type Pokemon Master. That's what I want to be! Before anything, before I retire, I want to become a Champion of Bugs! Everyone loves to underestimate the Bug typing, but I see it's Potential! I want to teach the world to never judge a book by it's cover!" Samurai completed proudly.
With a smirk on my face, I respond and turn around by saying, "I hope you achieve your dream, I believe in you. When you become a master of Bugs, let us have a battle! It'll be a fight of the centuries!"
After another 15 minutes of walking, hopping, running and stopping, me and Samurai have finally reached the area that the Pokemon have been fighting.
And I immediately saw what Samurai was talking about while we hid behind a large bush.
The Bulbasaur was warming up using...
Push Ups with it's vines?
That's pretty creative I'll give him that.
It also has a healed scar over it's right eye which looks fucking cool as shit.
The Beedrill was shoving it's pincers into a tree seemingly to sharpen it while the Pichu was using some sort of electric attack that I'd guess it being Shock Wave, Thundershock, or Spark while attempting to avoid the recoil which it was doing a decent job at doing by walking out of the way as the electricity came back to it.
I would think about training it to learn something better like Wild Charge, Thunder Fang, Thunderbolt or even evolving it to learn it's signature move Volt Tackle.
At the same time I've been here for 2 weeks and I'm sure that Ash and Misty have found themselves out I want to have a battle with Ash, not for me, but for the younger me who beat Red's overpowered Pikachu, Venusaur, and Snorlax in my Soul Silver nuzlocke with my Typhlosion!
Also near them, I could see the Clefairy saying something in Pokemon while the other Pokemon who were doing there own thing were nodding along as more a more Pokemon came to where the Bulbasaur, Beedrill and the Pichu were going to have an all out brawl.
Ending my train of thought, I whisper and ask Samurai, "Bro, how do you think I should approach?"
"Meh I don't know. Me and Pinsir have only watched them," Samurai explained.
"Screw it I'll just ask them for a battle, it's not like they'll try to kill me or something," I reply nonchalantly.
"Before that though, I'll scan them all with my Pokedex to see their moves to make it easier on Kaiser and me." I complete, pulling out the aforementioned object and analyzing the Pokemon.
Multi Scan Function: Activated
4 Pokemon Identified.
Bulbasaur, The Seed Pokemon. For some time after its birth, it grows by taking nourishment from the seed on its back. There is a plant seed on its back right from the day this Pokémon is born. The seed slowly grows larger.
This Pokemon is female and has the ability Overgrow and Chlorophyll. This Pokemon has a Calm nature. This Pokemon knows the moves Tackle, Growl, Vine Whip, Growth, Ingrain, Leech Seed, Toxic, and Razor Leaf.
Beedrill, The Poison Bee Pokemon. Beedrill is extremely territorial. No one should ever approach its nest—this is for their own safety. If angered, they will attack in a furious swarm. It has three poisonous stingers on its forelegs and its tail. They are used to jab its enemy repeatedly.
This Pokemon is female and has the ability Sniper. This Pokemon has an Adamant nature. This Pokemon knows the moves Fury Attack, Bug Bite, String Shot, Peck, Poison Sting, Fury Cutter, and Assurance.
Pichu, The Tiny Mouse Pokemon. Despite its small size, it can zap even adult humans. However, if it does so, it also surprises itself. The electric sacs in its cheeks are small. If even a little electricity leaks, it also becomes shocked.
This Pokemon is male and has the ability Static. This Pokemon has a Quirky nature. This Pokemon knows the moves Tackle, Quick Attack, Thundershock, Shock Wave, Nuzzle, Fake Out, and Charge.
Clefairy, The Fairy Pokemon. Its adorable behavior and cry make it highly popular. However, this cute Pokémon is rarely found. Thought to live with others on quiet mountains, it is popular for its adorable nature.
This Pokemon is Female and has the ability Cute Charm and Magic Guard. This Pokemon has a Gentle Nature. This Pokemon knows the moves Copycat, Metronome, Charm, Sing, Splash, Encore, Stored Power, Moonlight, Soft-Boiled, Life Dew, and Gravity.
With all of the sound made from the Pokedex, all the Pokemon in the area were alerted.
They just...
Stared?
For a bit I just forgot to move but Momma ain't raise no bitch.
So I quickly ran out to face all of the Pokemon then and there.
Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Caterpie, Metapod, Butter, Magikarp, Shellder, a singular Feebas, and the Pichu, Bulbasaur and Beedrill all came on guard and I saw Bulbasaur send out a few vines to show that he's on guard.
"Woah woah woah! Let's chill out! I just have one thing to do and I'll leave peacefully," I panic.
"Bulb Bulbasaur Saur Bulbasaur," The Bulbasaur says throwing a vine near my eye at me threateningly.
So I swiftly put my hands in the air (like I just don't care) to show that I'm not a danger to them.
After a few seconds, the Bulbasaur looked back and gave a growl to show that he's fine for now.
"Alright. I came here to say that I wanted to fight you Bulbasaur! If you win, I'll leave without any trouble but If I win you become the second member of my Pokemon team!" I declare, gathering a confused stare from the Pokemon into a battle-hungry smirk.
With a growl, Bulbasaur sent in the rest of her vines and sent another out in a classic fashion, saying to bring it while the other Pokemon surround me and the Bulbasaur.
"Okay! Kaiser I choose you!" I said in earnest, throwing out Kaiser's Pokeball sending out the Charmander while the same Pokeball was rebounded back into my hands.
"Char Charmander Char Char Charmander Char Char!" He said while pointing at Bulbasaur before sending a large vortex of fire from his mouth.
"Bulbasaur Bulbasaur!" He responded with a grin overcoming her face.
"Alright Kaiser, start it off using Focus Energy into Slash!"
Kaiser followed my words to the letter and and white glow overcame his figure before the glow focused into his hands as he rushed to the Bulbasaur's figure only to hit straight air.
Bulbasaur used her vines to throw herself into the air and sent a Leech Seed attack and Kaiser's prone form.
Immediately, Kaiser's exploded into fire, using his technique Fire Glide to follow her.
"Now hit her with an Ember to knock her down and send a Fire Spin to cover her from doing it again," I quickly say putting him into action.
Kaiser blew a medium sized fireball into Bulbasaur's form that was expected to hit but with another use of her vines, she sent herself down only to get caught by the Fire Spin, covering most of her escape paths.
Key Word.
Most.
Again using her vine's she catapulted herself directly up into the air without herself grazing the fire but her vines her burned in the process, sending her sprawling into the air.
With another burst of flames, Bulbasaur hit dead on.
Using another creative use of her vines, she used it to soften the blow and sent her right back in the air to send a volley of Razor Leaf at Kaiser.
Kaiser easily dodged all of them.
Except for the one that was rigged with a Leech Seed.
Getting sent lower to the ground, Kaiser had to detach his attention from the demonic vine-swigging Bulbasaur onto the ticking-time bomb that was the Leech Seed on his back. With a easy use of Ember the Leech Seed was erased until a vine grabbed onto him and slammed into the ground.
Slapped a grimace on my face real quick.
"Kaiser active Fire Glide again and obliterate her with your strongest Dragon Rage!" I shout throwing my hand behind me.
"Charmander!" Kaiser continued, sending himself back into the air with a burst of speed met the Bulbasaur point-blank to hit her with an obliterating attack, hiding the makeshift battlegrounds with a purple mist.
And to my surprise.
Bulbasaur was still up!
She took some significant damage but she was still up and ready for battle.
Until she pulled up a vine to signify that the battel was over.
Kaiser quickly went down and gave the Bulbasaur a nod of respect that was simply reciprocated.
But something that shocked everyone; including fucking me, she grabbed one of my Pokeballs on my waist and clicked the function to catch herself.
The Pokeball didn't even move, she was captured instantly.
Samurai, just then walked out like he didn't even know what happened, asked me, "What happened? I just caught my Scyther and saw the Bulbasaur catch... Herself?"
"That's great but uh... I don't really know? At least no one got banged up to bad though. I suggest that we get the heel out of here. I'm tired of this forest. No offense to you guys of course."
With a nod of all of their heads including Samurai, they showed that they didn't mind.
"Okay then..." I say before taking a large gulp of oxygen.
"We get caught a Bulbasaur!" I yell in excitement hitting a pose that was perfectly copied by Kaiser.
"Now, time to get out of here!" I said, recalling the tired Kaiser, giving my words of encouragement and walking away from the area, with a confused Samurai following suite.
Going in a random direction, that was actually guided by Samurai, me and Samurai...
Escaped the Viridian Forest!
Hey! I'm back you beautiful people!
Character development for Samurai, new teammates, and escaping the Viridian Forest?
What a fucking great way to end the chapter!
I hope you enjoyed the chapter because this was easily my favorite chapter to write since it had battles, new captures, and everything in between! By the way I have ideas of a Spider-Man and My Hero Academia story and a story where Deku has a twin-brother. I'll make a poll on it for you guys to vote on if you'd want it or not.
(Reminder, Please check out the Poll and vote, your opinion matters!)
Favorite, Follow and all that other jazz and I'll see you next chapter. Have an incredible day/night!
