It was all the boy wanted. Peace and quiet, that's it. Shino Yukio was, by all means, normal and a smart kid. He was a senior at kuoh academy, but despite being a straight A student, he wasn't very popular. That belonged to a certain redheaded girl named Rias Gremory and a black haired bombshell named Akeno Himejima, who were not only beautiful in their own right, but just as smart and talented in their own respectful ways. He, however, was only talented with music and skateboarding, being well known throughout the school for skating outdoors before heading inside, much to the dismay of the student council president Sona Sitri.

Although, our story doesn't end there with those mysteries. Unknown to most students and people of the world, Rias and Akeno are devils, mythological beings who exist in a society known as the underworld. Shino is one of these too, however, not as a devil, but as an archangel. Not only was he one of the strongest, but he was the personification of death itself. He was Azrael, the archangel of death, going by his human name, or fake name as he called it, Shino Yukio. This isn't some random decision either, as he doesn't want to be known as Death since the last time he was well known, he struck fear into every faction that no one dared to fight him, not even Sirzechs, the current Lucifer and Devil King, who had fought him a long time ago and survived, which wasn't an easy task.

Okay, that was a lot of explaining wasn't it? Simple introductions and reveals to speed things up! However, this story has much more to be discovered, so without further ado, let's dive in to see how the loner boy decides to change his life forever….

School had just ended, and evidently enough, Rias and Shino were in the same class, sitting right next to each other. Oh, I did forget to mention that Rias has known him for a very long time! Sorry about that, it's a force of habit….

As Shino got up to grab his board and his backpack from the back of the classroom, Rias quickly ran over to him and tapped his shoulder, seeming worried about something. What could be troubling her?

"What's the matter? We're going to the clubhouse aren't we?" He asked her in a calm voice.

"You said yes to a girl you barely know?! How could you do something so stupid? What if she's some sort of black mailer or psychopath?!" She answered clearly, concerned for his safety. Rias and Shino were closer than any friendship could imagine. Sure, she didn't know he was an archangel and he knew that she was a devil, but he didn't look at that. He only saw her as Rias, the smart and caring girl who he cared for more than anything. However, for now it seemed Rias was the one giving away her true feelings.

"I felt sorry for her. Maybe she was dared to or something!?" Shino said in his defense, pinching the middle of his nose to regain pressure in his head. "Look, it's only one measly date, and it's not going to go any further than that." He then got a bit close, staring deep into her eyes. "Why do you seem to care so much, hm? I thought you weren't going to "meddle in my affairs"?"

"B-Because this just seems too far-fetched okay?!" She said rather hysterically, although the tone she spoke sounded more afraid than anything. "I don't want anything to happen to the only person I trust more than Akeno. Please, just let me know you'll be safe." Her eyes spoke more than her words. She really was worried for him, which shocked Shino more than it did anything else.

"Yeah, Yeah, I'll be okay." He said rushed, "You have my word Rias. I won't be in any danger. Besides, this is me we're talking about. Who would want to go out with me seriously?" Rias turned her head as he finished, hiding a possible response from that sentence. "Well, looks like it's time to go do this. I'll see you at the clubhouse, okay?"

Rias finally submitted as she nodded her head in defeat. However, as he left the classroom, she still held some suspicion from all of this. She had never heard of Yuma Amano up until recently, and even then, according to Sona, her registration records don't show her enrolling until a couple weeks ago. She didn't like this one bit, but she had to trust him. He wasn't an idiot, but he was naive….

Later that day….

"Sorry to make you wait!" The black haired girl said as she came in a rather revealing outfit. She was wearing a black skirt with a white crop top with a 2000s graphic on It. In fact, her whole outfit looked like something he would be into, which did raise some suspicion from the boy, but alas, he let it slide. He could see through these kinds of things anyway.

"No, it's fine, I wasn't waiting that much." Shino replied as he got up from the bench, sporting his G-Shock watch and signature black boxy hoodie. It was sometimes very cold for him, even if it was a summer day. "Where would you like to go first?"

"Well, there was a crepe shop nearby we could try?" She asked politely. It seemed she was trying to make it so the both of them could enjoy themselves.

"Sure! That sounds like fun." He agreed as he smiled a bit. Funny enough, He hadn't smiled for a while, but considering he saw through the facade he was going to at least try and have fun.

The next hour had them walking around the shopping district, looking and buying several things. Shino actually started to enjoy the time he had with her. When he was speaking to her and discussing normal conversation things, he sensed something familiar about her, like as if he was reminded of someone he knew.

As the day came to an end, it seemed they had enjoyed a strawberry chocolate crepe, and he had bought her a necklace that resembled that of a rosary with black gems. "I hope you like it. Black is something that suits most people. It would match your outfits." He said as he gave her the box that contained it.

As she opened it, her eyes sparkled like she had just opened a christmas present. "This is so cute! For a guy with a reputation of being a loner, you sure are a nice guy!" She said this with hopes of complimenting his action, but he clearly was a bit shocked by the whole loner thing. Yeah he kept to himself and only hung out with Rias and her friends, but he wasn't like….that lonely was he?

"Well, I'll try." That was all he could say. He had been a disappearance within the underworld for years now, almost a century. However, it seemed for right now the only thing he was concerned about, was the sudden realization that came to his head. "Yuma, can I ask you something?"

"Huh?" She asked, a bit surprised since she was finishing putting on the necklace. "Of course!"

"When were you going to tell me you're a fallen angel?" He said smugly, causing more of a shocked and defensive reaction than a jokes type one.

"W-What do you mean by that? Are you calling me an angel? That's very nice of you to say. You sure have a way with words." She said, a bit taken aback. Of course, it's obvious her facade was failing, but she had to maintain it.

"Don't lie to me. You obviously know that I know. You're here to kill me, aren't you?" Shino started to sound serious, as he adjusted his jacket and checked his watch, "Although, I know you wouldn't do that, not after what I'm about to say that is."

The girl, now seeing that he wasn't playing around, began to shift herself into a defensive manner, getting up and shifting her body towards him with a battle stance. No normal human could see it, but Shino recognized her aura of a fallen angel, and not just any of them, but a very specific one he knew all too well. "I don't know how you managed to find out, but now that it's obvious, I guess I shouldn't waste your time and get straight to the point." She then finally reveals her true form with her wings and most of all, a light spear.

Shino, who now was chuckling at the situation, got up and got closer to her, and even though she had the advantage, she still felt some sort of fear rising through her. "Raynere, you aren't going to kill me." She then stopped in her tracks, dismantling the light spear and staring into his eyes with shock and curiosity. "Yes, it's me, Azrael. You must have found some intel that I was still around. Father trying to do a cover up story must not work anymore."

"O-Oh my god…No way!" Raynere said, now switching from scared to relieved. "It's really you! You're alive! People said you died from a battle with Ophis the infinite dragon god!" She then proceeded to hug him, obviously hinting a note of remembrance. Turns out they must have known each other well. "Lord Azazel knew you were alive, but the others thought you had perished. I'm glad you're alive Azrael. Mittelt will be pleased to know you're well."

"Well, I'm glad the whole killing ploy worked. I hope there's no actual killing involved here." He said with a sigh of relief, "Although, it would be best if you called me Shino. I don't want everyone knowing I'm alive, especially Z." He then looked around to see the night falling before them. "Wait, were you actually sent to kill me or did you just ask me out on a date because you wanted to see that it was me?"

"Uh…both?" She said a bit sheepishly, unsure if he was going to be mad or confused. "Kokabiel wants these sacred gears and thought you were a sacred gear user. I also had found out that someone who looked like you was attending school here, so I rushed in to find out for myself." She sighed as Shino patted her head with amusement. "But, I will say, you have smitten me even though your heart belongs to another."

"I did?" She nodded slowly as he smiled and patted her head gently, "Well, I promise to take care of you then. However, my heart belongs to Rias first."

She smiled at first but then had a great reaction of shock from the second part. "Rias Gremory?! As in the Gremory family and head family of the devil race?!" He nodded his head to that question. "Does she know?"

"No, I haven't told her yet. Her brother would come tackling me if he found out I was still here. He and I used to be the best of friends." He began to speak but suddenly a magic portal appeared, scaring Raynere, and causing Shino to sigh loudly. "Oh great, Just when she's mentioned…"

Appearing from the portal, Rias and Akeno stepped out, clearly ready to eradicate whatever stepped foot into their territory, only to find Shino and Raynere doing just fine. "I knew there was something off about you! You tried to kill him!"

"President, look! He has wings!" Akeno said in complete amazement as Rias walked closer to him. "You better have a good explanation for this! I got word a fallen angel had infiltrated my providence and now you're suddenly an angel too? Since when were you going to tell me that?"

"When it was the right time. I'm an archangel of death, or the personification of death. My real name is Azrael, but Shino is something I prefer." Shino said defeatedly as she stepped back with shock. Shino was Death? Was he the one her brother mentioned a long time ago?

"You're….Azrael?" She asked once more, to which he nodded his head in agreement. "So, you and my brother really were.."

"Yes. We were allies. I am the great warrior of death. But I'm still 18 in all of this. My body doesn't age right for some reason." He then grabbed something out of his pocket. "But that's besides the point. Rias, now that you know, I need to tell you this. It's the only way I'll get it right."

"W-What are you talking about? What do you have to tell me?" She said rather curious yet hopeful. It seemed she had been waiting for this for a long time. Meanwhile, Raynere and Akeno slowly came towards each other, wondering what he was going to be saying to her. However, Akeno gave her a glare, indicating a hatred of some sort.

"Rias, we've known each other for so long, and I have to tell you this." He then gave her another rosary necklace with red gems. "I love you. For the longest time I have. Please, make me your boyfriend…"

"OH MY GOSH HE FINALLY SAID IT!" The two sidelined ladies shouted as Rias turned into a bright red tomato.

"Shino you idiot!" Rias shouted as she tackled him and kissed him with all her might, causing a gasp and awe reaction from the two ladies behind them. After she let go off his lips, she kept her head into his chest. "You have no idea how long I wanted to hear that…"

"Oh really? You could've said it first." He said laughing at her cute reaction. "Well, can I get up?"

"Y-Yeah." She said as she helped him back up. "So, you're my new boyfriend, but there's also another thing that we need to discuss."

"What would that be?" He asked as Raynere went back to him after being glared at by Akeno.

"I…want you to join my peerage." She said sincerely.

Suddenly everyone turned pale faced.

"WHHHHAAAAAATTT?!"
