"They forgave you a long time ago." Her voice carries in the quiet night, of his birthday no less. The Memorial Stone standing it's ominous silence never failing.
Sure his no longer Genin of Team 7 surprised him. . . Naruto with ramen coupons (the young Hokage was probably saving those for ages), Sasuke telling him 'thank you for everything' and actually HUGGING him (definitely Shizune's idea) and lastly more surprising Lady Sakura with her husband 5th Kazekage Gaara unexpectedly showing up with books instantly.
. . .So yes he had a nice birthday. But as the sun started to drop and the night began to take form over head. He sighs once again. Standing here with regrets that he should no longer feel.
"Plus your students didn't hold anything against you. Turning out amazing, themselves." Again her voice carries, her arms wrap around his waist from behind.
"Despite heavy hard bumps in the road for everyone to get here." A kiss to his masked right cheek he smiles underneath it.
"Yeah, all grown up sure, still my bunch of idiots." They share as chuckle. He turns in her hold, their ebony eyes lock.
"One of many birthdays I'll cherish." Kakashi remarks caressing Shizune's left cheek.
She smiles softly, a rosy blush beginning to form. He allows her to lower his face mask, as their lips truly touch. All the craziness of their lives melts away in their Will of Fire love.
"You made mistakes, but did the best you could for everyone." Her ebony eyes longingly stare into his awestruck face.
