I walk past the ones that are currently in use, before turning and walking into the sixth room.
I can feel his presence as he walks into the room behind me and shuts the door, locking it before he moves to stand in the back of me.
His cologne immediately hits my nose, leaving me dizzy as I try to hold onto my anger.
I feel as his hands hover above my arms, but I shake off the feeling, and take a few steps away to clear my head.
"What the fuck was that?" I demand.
He smiles at me for a moment, "What did you think our conversation was over because you walked out? No, Bunny, it's far from over. You need to realize that you jumping to conclusions isn't going to benefit you in the long run." He tells me.
I scoff, "I haven't jumped to conclusions!" I shout at him.
"Keep your fucking voice down, and fix the tone before I fix it for you. We are not in a private place, the walls have ears, you of all people should know that." He tersely says.
I glare at him, knowing he's right.
It is at that moment that I notice what he's wearing.
He is wearing a custom-tailored navy suit with a black button-up and matching tie. The coat and slacks look like they're molded to his body, and the button-up enhances the muscles on his chest, leaving my throat dry.
"Look, I get it, alright? I'm a fuck up. I don't deserve a second chance… but I can't stay away from you.. Please don't ask me to." He says, in a voice just above a whisper.
I blink, staring at him in disbelief, "I never did. You assumed that's what I wanted. I never said anything or even hinted at that to you. I simply stated that I needed time to wrap my head around everything." I told him, as he moved to stand in front of me.
His eyes searched for something in mine, as he stood a few inches away from me. "Does that mean you aren't going to kick me out of your life?" He asks hopefully.
I blink in surprise. "Why the fuck would I do that?" I asked, tilting my head to look up at him confused.
"Because everyone always does." He admits, quietly.
I give him a small smile, "Edward, who you are, who birthed you, and your past doesn't matter to me. They don't define you. As for me leaving, I'm afraid you're stuck with me now. We're best bitches for life now. You won't get rid of me." I tease.
A small hopeful smile lit up his face as he looked at me, " I wouldn't want it any other way." He whispers as he reaches over and takes my hand in his.
"Good. Now, I gotta go back to my meeting, so make yourself scarce." I say as I make a move to leave.
"Does that mean you want me to leave?" He asks quietly.
I nod, "Yes, you not only interrupted an important business dinner but also lied to the person." I said, exasperatedly.
He blinks as if remembering, the gleam of anger returns to his eyes, causing me to shiver "I don't like that guy, he kept touching you and making you uncomfortable." He says.
I shrug, "I've dealt with worse. He's nothing compared to Paul Neguyan, or Neil O'Brien."
He narrows his eyes, "Right, I should be clear about one thing, I don't like sharing. You are mine now, I don't share what's mine." He all but growls.
I roll my eyes, "I am not yours. I am my own person, of my own free will, and I can do whatever the hell I want." I snap back.
He smirks, as he backs me into the wall, before leaning to speak into my ear, lips almost touching my ear. "Your lips may say that, but your body sure as hell doesn't." He huskily whispers in my ear. "Now, go tell that fucker that if he touches you again, I will break each bone that he uses, and make sure he knows who you belong to." He replies, before stepping away.
I swallow hard, feeling various things, before I take a deep calming breath, and push off the wall. "Fuck, why don't you just brand my forehead, you Neanderthal?"
He smirks, "I would but I wouldn't want to ruin your beautiful face like that, Bunny. But don't worry, I will get something that shows it so you can wear it." He says.
I snort, "I am not gonna wear a fucking piece of jewelry with your name on it." I snap.
He shakes his head, "Not my name, my emblem, and you don't have a choice, you chose to get involved with me. Now I need to keep you safe." He tells me, amused.
I frown, "How did I-?" I began only to trail off as I realized what he meant. "The tattoo? That's how I am affiliated with you?" I asked.
He sighs and shakes his head, "No. Look, I'll explain once your friend leaves. For now, be cool." He says before turning and walking out.
Asshole.
I take a second to calm myself before I make my way back to the table to finish the meeting.
Edward is sitting in my seat, and another seat has been added to the table. Both of them immediately stood up.
I nodded, taking the seat that Edward pulled out for me, before turning back to look at Mateo.
"So, let's get back to business. Shall we?" I asked.
" Miss. Swan, actually, your-your fiance made a very informative comment and I agree, expect my lawyer and me on Monday morning to finish signing the transfer of property over to you." Mateo stutters as he gets to his feet.
I give him a smile, watching as he leaves, before turning to smack Edward.
"Ow, fuck! This is the thanks I get for helping you?" He groans, as he rubs his arm.
"What did you do?" I quietly demanded.
He frowns, "Nothing, I simply pointed out that his company is a few weeks from being bankrupt. That is all it took to get him to agree." He says.
I feel as my left eye begins to twitch, as my hand wraps around the knife on the table. "You intercepted on my behalf?" I asked slowly.
He nods as he takes a drink from the table that hadn't been there when we left.
I take a slow breath before I lean over to grab my wine glass only for him to shake his head and offer me the new one.
"Why can't I have mine?" I asked, taking the other one and sipping deeply.
"That asshole was putting something in your glass as I was walking back out here. I will tell you the details later." He tells me, offhandedly. "Now, do you want to eat or shall we take our leave?" He asked me.
I sigh, "Eat. I'm not ready to talk to you just yet." I state.
"Good choice, Bunny." He says before waving the waiter over.
We ate in perfect silence, before Edward disappeared and came back with my coat.
I smiled up, as I stood up unbalanced. The four glasses of wine finally hit me, making me feel unbalanced.
"Woah, you good there, Bunny?" He asks me as he catches me as I trip and begin to fall forward.
I giggle and nod, "Ye…up!" I squeak, before burping loudly. "Shit, I mean, excuse me." I apologetically squeak as Edward chuckles and leads me out of the restaurant.
As soon as I am out, he turns me towards him, before he pulls my arm around his neck and lifts me onto his shoulder.
I find myself giggling loudly as he walks in the opposite direction of the parking lot and drops me into the back seat of a large SUV before sliding in.
He pulls me to him, and lays my head on his lap, slowly taking off the pin I had.
"Where are we going, Eddikins?" I slur.
He smiled down at me and runs his fingers through my hair, "Don't worry about it, Bunny. Get some rest, I'll wake you when we get there." He says, soothingly.
I smile up at him before closing my eyes and drifting off.
