Genin time sucks, so I found a way to rush it while also making sense and not feeling bad about it.

A howl filled the world, startling chakra and the feeling of death followed right after. Mika bolted from his bed, rushing to the window by his bed. Eyes wide, he saw it in it's full glory. "The Kyuubi... fuck..." Waves of twisted, warped chakra exuded from the beast as it thrashed through buildings, snuffing out light and life. Mika froze for the tinniest moment, before training kicked in. "I have to help!"

And he bolted out of his home, into the streets. He moved toward the destruction, not caring for his own life as he landed by a man crushed legs down by a piece of roof. The man was in agony, screaming with blood curdling sound. "I can't move, I don't want to die!"

Mika, channeling his chakra into his muscles, grabbed the debris and tore it off. Kneeling he examined the man. "You're only bruised, run toward the shelter!"

The man nodded, eyes wide. "You're a ninja?"

"Yes, now go!"

And as the man moved off, Mika shot forward with only a fraction of his typical grace. Speed was all that mattered, dodging breaking buildings, hiding from waves of dust and chakra as the Fox tore the world up. Ignoring the howls and hate, He saved six more people as he moved, three kids who were lost and screaming for their parents.

"You'll find them at the Hokage monument, where the shelters are. Hurry!" He said to them, startling them.

"HEY! GET TO THE SHELTERS!" He almost fell as a man, garbed as a ninja bolted over to him. "You're a genin, you can't-"

Mika growled back. "I am a medic, I WILL not allow those to die that I can save."

The man growled back, before a nasty grin crossed his face. "Die at your own risk then... can you use the Mystic Palm?" Mika nodded. "Good, I sense people buried over there." He pointed to a house, half buried into the dirt. "We need to save them."

"Let's go!" He moved with the man, using chakra to lift the various pieces of debris and dirt until a hole was made. Mika reached in. "Hurry, we can't ensure this will be open long!"

The people inside rushed out, crawling with high speed out. One however collapsed, a woman, covered in blood. A man, her husband maybe, was at her side. "She stopped the house from falling... please, save her!"

Mika kneeled, hands glowing. His eyes darkened. "She needs a blood transfusion...I can't give her that, she needs to eat a plasma pill." He managed to feed it to her with one hand, while the other moved over her wounds, sealing them shut as best he could with his meager might. "Take her to the shelter, tell them Mika says she has a class two concussion and a severe spinal compression and two broken ribs."

The man nodded and carried her off. "Thank you."

The ninja, one he had never met before, turned to him with soft eyes. "You're a good kid... names Enji Sarutobi. I'll put a good work in with the Hokage, when this is all over."

"Save it until we actually get started."

Enji grinned. "I knew I liked you, let's get going."

Together, with Enji's powerful frame, they managed to save over forty more people. Men and woman and children. They dug people out of houses, patched people enough to walk away, and so on. Overall, It all seemed to be going well bar Mika's waning chakra levels, until they got just at ad too close to the Kyuubi. The wicked beast slashed at their direction with his tail, a blast of Gale Force wind knocked into them both, Mika a tad too slow slammed into a house head first. Darkness taking hold in an instant, but only for an instant.

He felt Enji grabbing him. " Kid, breathe, please."

Coughing, Mika nodded. "I have a concussion, not a... Look out!" He used his last blast of chakra to shove Enji away as the house above him crumbled around him, burying him in a much deeper, darker darkness and Mika knew sleep once more.

""'

Beep... beep... beep...

Mika was lulled to reality by the annoyingly familiar sound of the beeping machines of the Hospital. " When... when is it? We survived?" he asked aloud, not expecting a response.

A soft sigh drew his bleary eyes to the Third Hokage and Enji Sarutobi. "Yes, we did...that was three days ago. Now, Enji here tells me that you broke orders and entered the line of fire."

Mika sighed this time, sitting up, his head aching only slightly showing his head was treated. "I had to do something. I am a medic, my purpose is to save those that cannot save themselves, is it not?"

The Hokage puffed out a line of smoke, before smirking. "You saved many, including Enji himself. It is a rare thing that a mere genin does what you did. I must say, for a medic that has never felt battle, you managed to do a great deal of good. I cannot allow your good deed to go punished." He lifted a hand, pointing to the table next to Mika." Look."

Mika turned, gaping. "Is that a Chunin vest?"

"We lost a great many to the Kyuubi's malice. You proved to be reliable, independent and intelligent. You saved almost fifty and impressed Enji of all people. It is clear you are more of a battle medic, so I will have you assigned to act as a more typical ninja. Congragulations, Chunin Mika. You earned it. I expect you in my office in three days, there is much to do. Many missions to take.

Oh and Enji has something to tell you."

Enji nodded. "I want to make sure you can survive a fight, kid,... I will be acting as your mentor for the time being, if you're down."

Mika nodded, eyes wide. "I was so focused on just medical training, I really haven't had much to do but that... I would be honored Enji! Thank you."

"Enji Senpai... now, get better, kid... I will make a legend out of you."

And as he left... Mika was filled with a rare hope, one he had never had before as the reality that having a future was actually possible for him even as he would later mourn the loss so deeply left by the Nine Tailed Fox.

Including the Fourth Hokage himself.
