"See you later, everyone. I really hope Ms. Knight can sort out whatever's troubling her," Andy remarks.

"Thanks, little buddy. Have a good night," Logan replies, watching as Andy walks away with Steven and Tyson.

Tuesday morning...

Ms. Knight enters the kitchen, ready to prepare breakfast, her mind swirling with thoughts about her relationship with Mr. Mark after their long phone call the night before. Lost in her reverie, she doesn't notice someone calling her name until a gentle tap on her shoulder jolts her back to reality.

"Mom, Mom!" Katie exclaims, urgency lacing her voice.

"Yes, darling?" Ms. Knight responds.

"I think the grilled cheese is about to burn," Katie warns, gesturing toward the toaster.

"Oh no!" Ms. Knight exclaims, quickly pressing the lever to pop the bread up. "Why didn't you just do it yourself?"

"Because I wasn't sure if you wanted me to! Are you mad at me? You were the one who wasn't paying attention. I didn't let the grilled cheese burn!" Katie retorts. "You're upset with me for no reason. I don't want breakfast anymore. I'm not hungry," she huffs, storming back to her room just as the boys emerge from their own rooms, chatting in the hallway.

"Katie, what's the matter?" Kendall inquires.

"Don't go into the kitchen unless you want to be blamed for almost burning something," Katie snaps.

"Whoa, take it easy. What's going on?" Kendall asks, confused.

"Just ask Mom!" Katie shouts, slamming her door.

"Should we do something about that?" James suggests.

"Definitely. Otherwise, she'll be in a bad mood all day at school," Logan agrees.

"Our princess deserves to be happy," Carlos adds.

They all head into the kitchen.

"Mom, what happened in here that made Katie so upset? She mentioned something about not burning food. Did she accidentally burn something?" Kendall asks.

"No, Kendall, it was actually me who nearly set the grilled cheese on fire. I was so wrapped up in my own thoughts that I didn't notice until she snapped me back to reality, and I mistakenly pointed the finger at her. I didn't mean to do that," Ms. Knight explains.

"Oh, I see now. What was so captivating that it pulled you away?" Kendall inquires.

"Nothing you need to fret over. Just a chat I had with Mr. Mark last night," Ms. Knight replies.

"Did he break your heart? Did he plunge you into a pit of despair?" Carlos chimes in.

Caught off guard by his dramatic questions, Ms. Knight shakes her head. "No, darling. Where do you come up with these notions? What have you been watching on television?"

"Enough to know that when a woman's relationship starts to falter, it's time to find someone better," Carlos asserts.

"Oh, sweetheart, I'm fine, I promise. Mr. Mark genuinely wants this relationship to succeed, and I believe in that. Not every relationship begins flawlessly; some need time to develop into something healthy and balanced," Ms. Knight explains. "He did acknowledge that he crossed a line with his comments about you."

"Good, because that was really hurtful," Carlos replies.

"I'm committed to making this relationship work. I know he has good qualities," Ms. Knight states.

"After everything that happened over the weekend and yesterday, you still want to be involved with him and his awful kids?" Kendall questions. "I thought you were above that, Mom."

Ms. Knight acknowledges, "I recognize that Mr. Mark has his shortcomings, just as I do. It's crucial for us to address the issues in our relationship."

Kendall, exasperated, responds, "So you're okay with being with a guy who lets his kids run wild and brushes off their misbehavior as just teenage antics? Yet, when we step out of line, he's quick to criticize us? Are you really considering staying with him?" He rubs his temples in frustration. "I just can't wrap my head around how adults operate. Go ahead and do what you want, Mom. Clearly, the rest of us are just meant to endure the fallout."

Ms. Knight reassures him, "He has the potential to change, Kendall. I would never want you kids to suffer because of my choices."

Logan decided to check in on Katie, hoping that her anger had subsided. He approached her bedroom and called out, "Katie-Bear, how are you holding up?"

"I'm still really upset with Mom. I didn't do anything wrong, and she just snapped at me," Katie replied, her frustration evident.

"I understand. She explained what happened," Logan reassured her. "It was just a mix-up between you two."

Katie sighed, her voice tinged with sadness. "I feel like I'm just a burden to her."

"You're not a burden at all. She just made a mistake," Logan said, settling down beside her on the bed.

"Alright," Katie replied, and together they left the room.

"I'm really sorry for upsetting you earlier, Katie," Ms. Knight said as they emerged.

"It's fine, Mom. I overheard you talking to the boys about wanting to keep seeing Mr. Mark, and then I heard Kendall disagreeing with you. I agree with him. Mr. Mark isn't worth it, but it's your choice. You can keep dating him until he does something truly unforgivable," Katie stated firmly.

"Mr. Mark has extended an invitation for us to gather at the community center this Friday to whip up some delicious pizzas and celebrate Lucas's recent triumph with his school's baseball team. Sounds like a blast, right? You kids adore pizza," Ms. Knight remarks.

"I'm not interested in making pizza or celebrating Lucas. That's not how I envision my Friday afternoon," Kendall replies.

"Well, maybe there's something else you kids would prefer to do that you could invite Lucas and Audrey to join," Ms. Knight suggests.

"Ms. Knight, with all due respect, I'd rather keep my stress levels in check by avoiding Lucas, Audrey, and their dad," Logan states firmly.

"Can't you find a way to spend some time with Lucas and Audrey?" Ms. Knight inquires.

"Wasn't the weekend we spent with them enough? We really tried to get along, Mom, but they didn't put in any effort," Kendall responds.

"Alright, I'll inform Mr. Mark that we won't be attending the community center for Lucas's baseball celebration," Ms. Knight concedes. "I had hoped you all would become great friends with Lucas and Audrey."

"They don't want to be our friends, Mom. They just want to be cruel and see how far they can push it because Mr. Mark is so easygoing with discipline. He practically lets them get away with being unkind. Are they still going to come over every day after school while waiting for him to finish work?" Kendall questions. "Don't they have an after-school program at their school? What about their sports and other activities?"

"They only have sports practices and extracurriculars three days a week, which serves as their after-school program. On the days they don't have those, they'll be here after school," Ms. Knight explains.

"Ugh! Mom, it's so unfair that we have to put up with Lucas and Audrey three times a week! This is ridiculous!" Katie exclaims. "They'll never treat us nicely!"

"We just need to get through school. On the days Lucas and Audrey are here, we'll have to keep our distance," Logan replies.

Later that afternoon, much to Kendall and the others' dismay, Audrey and Lucas arrive at the Palm Woods.

With an air of confidence, the siblings saunter over to the pool area and approach a table where Camille and Jo are engrossed in their Pop-Tiger magazines.

"Hey girls, get us some smoothies. Hurry it up!" Lucas commands, his tone lacking any semblance of politeness.

Jo looks up, unimpressed. "You have legs. Why don't you use them to fetch your own smoothies? We're not your servants, so stop trying to boss us around."

Camille chimes in, "Exactly. You had no problem walking over here, so keep that same energy and get your own drinks. It's incredibly rude to just demand things from us."

"You're the ones being rude!" Lucas retorts.

Camille, clearly irritated by their toxic attitude, responds, "We were just enjoying our time reading when you two strutted over like you own the place, expecting us to cater to you. We're not waitresses, so leave us alone!"

"Come on, Camille. Let's escape this place and leave behind all this negativity," Jo urges, rising to her feet.

"I'm right there with you. I'm not feeling great at all," Camille replies, trailing after Jo. She shoots one last glare at Lucas and Audrey before stepping into the Palm Woods lobby.

Meanwhile, at a sports-themed bookstore known as the Sports Shack, Carlos is determined to ensure Jett makes good on his promise to replace the magazine he damaged last week.

"It's in aisle 10. Hurry up, Jett. Your reluctance is painfully obvious with all that groaning. If you hadn't torn the cover off my magazine, we wouldn't be stuck here. This is all on you, and now you have to face the music. Stop whining and just do it," Carlos insists.

"I still don't get why it's such a big deal. It's just a dumb magazine," Jett retorts.

"Maybe it seems trivial to you because you're not into sports, but to me, it holds a lot of value. As an athlete, I'm still really upset that you haven't shown any regret for your actions," Carlos replies with a sigh. "The magazine I need is on the third shelf to your left."

With another bored sigh, Jett grabs the magazine and heads to the checkout. After making the purchase, they leave the store and head back to the Palm Woods.

"I did what you asked. Can I leave now?" Jett asks.

"Yeah, I don't want to be around you any longer than necessary. Just remember, if you mess up my magazine or anything else I own, you'll be replacing it with your own money. Trust me, the consequences will be steep," Carlos warns before walking away.

In the cozy confines of Apartment 2J, a tale of rudeness unfolded.

"Can you believe Lucas and Audrey were so rude to you guys?" Logan inquired.

"Absolutely. They didn't even bother to say hello. Lucas simply demanded that Jo and I fetch them smoothies without a second thought. We stood up to them and walked away when they didn't like it," Camille recounted.

"Camille, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable," Logan expressed, his tone empathetic.

"Don't worry, Logan. Their rudeness is nothing but a blip on our radar. We made it clear that we won't be intimidated or bullied by them," Camille declared confidently.

"Even so, they shouldn't have treated you that way. It's not right," Logan insisted.

"Shall we inform Mr. Mark?" Jo inquires.

"What's the point? He won't take appropriate disciplinary action," Logan responds.

"You're right. He won't be just," Camille adds.

Later that evening, when Mr. Mark arrives to collect Lucas and Audrey, he is informed about their misbehavior, but predictably brushes it off and departs.

"See Mom? I told you he wouldn't act differently. He didn't believe Jo or Camille about Lucas and Audrey's disrespectful behavior," Kendall asserts.

"He's unbearable," James interjects.

"You should ditch him," Katie suggests.

"You deserve someone superior," Carlos chimes in.

"Kids, I hear your worries loud and clear. I'll keep discussing Lucas and Audrey's behavior with Mr. Mark," Ms. Knight assures them.

"Mom, don't you see? He doesn't care about what you or we think. He's just saying he'll discipline them because that's what you want to hear. He doesn't believe he's a bad father, so he won't take real action," Kendall replies. "His pride and ego are too big."

"Maybe couples counseling could help mend your relationship with Mr. Mark," Logan suggests.

"I'll consider it, Logan. That's a good idea. Now, everyone, please wash up for dinner," Ms. Knight responds.

Later, after dinner, Logan lounges on the couch with his legs stretched out, focused on his laptop playing solitaire. Suddenly, he's jolted by the loud crunching sounds beside him. He glances to his right and sees Carlos, fixated on the TV, mindlessly munching on pretzels.

"Carlos? Hello? Are you still with us?" Logan calls out, trying to snap him back to reality.

"Huh?" Carlos replies, a pretzel dangling from his lip.

"You're crunching those pretzels so loudly, it sounds like a hyena devouring its meal," Logan jokes.

"Am I really that loud? I'm sorry! I was so engrossed in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that I didn't even notice," Carlos admits sheepishly.

"It's fine, Carlos. I'm not upset. You just really love your pretzels," Logan reassures him.

"I do! Want some?" Carlos offers.

"Sure, I'll take a few. Thanks!" Logan replies, reaching for the bowl.

On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Mark strolls through the Palm Woods parking lot, heading towards Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan, who are engaged in conversation while loading Ms. Knight's car.

"Where are you guys headed on this lovely day?" he inquires.

Kendall pauses, raising an eyebrow in curiosity. "Why do you want to know?" he replies.

"Because I have no pressing matters at the moment and thought I might tag along with you all," Mr. Mark explains.

"What about Lucas and Audrey? Don't they take up most of your time?" Kendall counters.

"They do, but they're busy with their sports practices right now. I have some free time until they finish," Mr. Mark responds. "So, you're all off to the ice rink, right?"

"How did you know that?" Kendall asks, intrigued.

"Your mom mentioned that you guys enjoy blowing off steam on the ice. She said you visit the rink at least three times a week to escape the heat of Los Angeles," Mr. Mark shares.

"That's true, but why would she tell you all that? It feels a bit personal," Kendall remarks.

"She just wanted to help me bond with you guys over something you're passionate about—hockey," Mr. Mark replies.

At that moment, Ms. Knight approaches the car, searching through her purse for her keys. "Sorry for the hold-up, boys. I was chatting with Tyler's mom back at the apartment. Katie and Tyler want to check out a new video game store, and we were figuring out when to take them." She glances up, noticing the boys' serious expressions. "What's going on?"

"You told him about the ice rink. You told Mr. Mark. Why, Mom? Why would you betray us like that?" Kendall's voice trembles with hurt.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I just thought it would help him connect with you and the other boys. Please, give him a chance," Ms. Knight replies gently.

"He lost every opportunity to bond with us when he completely ignored the fact that Lucas was ready to attack Katie. He didn't care that his own son was willing to hurt a little girl—your daughter! How can you not be furious about that? If I hadn't stepped in, Lucas would have hurt Katie without a second thought. I can't trust a man who hasn't taught his son that hitting anyone, especially girls, is wrong!" Kendall exclaims.

"I was angry when it happened, and it's been dealt with, Kendall. Lucas won't try to hurt Katie again," Ms. Knight insists.

"Only because I scared him into submission! Do you really think he would have listened if his dad had said something? No way!" Kendall sighs, his frustration bubbling over. "I'm sorry for raising my voice, Mom. I don't mean to be disrespectful. I'm just really upset."

"I get it. I'm not upset with you for expressing your feelings," Ms. Knight reassures him.

Kendall turns to Mr. Mark, his expression serious. "You really care about my mom, don't you?"

"Yes, I do. And I care about you, Katie, and your friends too," Mr. Mark responds earnestly.

"Alright. You can join us at the ice rink this one time. But that's it," Kendall states firmly. "Please don't make me regret this."

James, Carlos, and Logan exchange puzzled glances at this unexpected decision but climb into the car.
