Chapter 9

Olivia and Elliot went to question Fiona Hurley and Detective Klass asked Doctor Huang if they could talk somewhere private. Fin was checking in with Jet and Bruno and Velasco were trying to nail down the exact last sighting of Dylan Jovin. They did not want to tip him off, but they knew that they had to find him. Rollins was nailing down the timeline for Clinton Rein's arrest. They needed to rule him out exclusively and then focus on their new suspect.

"Are you in need of counseling?" Doctor Huang wanted to know as he closed Captain Benson's office door. He was concerned that this latest development about Akiko's life was sending the detective into a tailspin.

"No, no, I wanted to pick your brain more. We don't have a forensic psychiatrist in Queens," she gave him a slight smile before sitting down on Olivia's couch.

"Pick away then," he gave her a slight smile as well. He took the seat on the other end of the couch.

"Say I believe that Akiko really had a Sugar Babyz account. What would make a woman, who had a traditional Japanese upbringing, suddenly do something like that? Especially since she had a good job. She knows that if she needs something, I'd be more than willing to help, and that includes money," Klass said.

"What do you mean by suddenly?" Huang was interested into why she said it that way.

"Akiko emigrated here after her parents passed away during the flooding from the tsunamis in Japan from that earthquake back in twenty-eleven," she explained.

"Ah, so you're thinking that if she was going to do it, she would have done it when she first got here," Huang said.

"Yes. I just met her right before Jared went on his final deployment," the detective said.

"So, stable job, decent apartment, traditional upbringing, Sugar Babyz account," the forensic psychiatrist summed up. Klass nodded. Huang took a breath and thought. She was right – why now for the Sugar Babyz account? Akiko could have used traditional dating sites; she did not need to use this one.

"You said she had no one in her life but you and Betty," he said.

"Well and Scott too. We've all been hanging out lately," she told him.

"She has no other friends?" Huang was suddenly concerned about that. Klass frowned.

"I work wacky hours, as you know. I always figured she was hanging out with her friends while I was at work," the detective admitted.

"But she doesn't mention her friends? Ever?" Huang asked.

"How could I miss that?" Klass gave him a look. He shook his head before standing up and Klass and Betty quickly followed him.

"Fin, what did Jet have to say about Akiko's online presence?" Huang asked, noting that the Sergeant was not on the phone.

"Jet thinks that the Sugar Babyz account was set up by someone other than Akiko. Her Facebook page was hacked not long before the account was set up. TARU briefed her on what they found on Akiko's laptop and it would seem that she recently cut a friend out of her life. A Caitlin Williams – she lives not far from the office where Akiko works," Fin let the room know.

"Could this friend be working with Dylan Jovin?" Rollins wondered.

"Maybe, maybe not. I'm going to go talk to this woman. I want to see the look on her face when I tell her what happened to Akiko," Fin said.

"I'm coming with you," Klass said.

"Bring Betty," he told her and the three headed for the elevator. Huang walked over to Rollins and said,

"Klass just admitted to me that Akiko never mentioned her other friends. Now she could be a private person or…"

"Or her friends are not worth mentioning to a police detective," Rollins said.

"Exactly. We need a background check on them," Huang told her.

"I'll call Jet and see if she's doing it or if I should be," the blonde said. Huang nodded before heading to stand back in front of the board they'd set up.

"What are you thinking Doc?" Bruno came up to him. Velasco was on the phone with Jovin's parole officer, so he had a moment or two free.

"What are the chances that Akiko gets a fake Sugar Babyz account and that Dylan Jovin finds it?" Huang asked.

"About zero, unless she was set up," Bruno figured.

"Dylan could claim that Akiko had an account on a known prostitution website," the forensic psychiatrist nodded.

"What could possibly upset a former friend so much that she sets you up to be assaulted by someone she knows?" The detective wondered.

"I suspect we're about to find out," Huang told him.
