As you just finished your shower and got dressed you opened the bathroom door to see Dean walked in with a case of beer and Sam sitting up off the floor breathing heavily. "Sam?" Dean asked, concerned.
"Did you have another vision?" You asked him. Sam told you and Dean about his vision of Dean killing someone and insisted you three go out to Oregon to investigate it.
Dean was driving on the road while Sam kept an eye on the GPS."Continue on Or-224 West." The voice spoke from Sam's phone.
"There are only two towns in the U.S named Rivergrove." Sam stated as he looked at his phone.
"How come you're so sure it's the one in Oregon?" Dean questioned.
"There was a picture." Sam replied. "Of Crater Lake."
"Was there anything else?" You asked Sam.
"I saw a dark room, some people, and a guy tied to a chair." Sam explained.
"And I ventilated him?" Dean asked Sam.
"Yeah. You thought there was something inside him." Sam shared.
"A demon? Was he possessed?" Dean wondered.
"I don't know." Sam shrugged.
"All your weirdo visions are always tied to the yellow-eyed demon. Was there any black smoke? Did we try to exorcise him?" Dean questioned.
"No. Nothing. You just plugged him." Sam told Dean. "That's it."
"Well, I'm sure I had a good reason." Dean mumbled.
"Let's hope so." Sam muttered.
"What does that mean?" Dean growled. "I'm not gonna waste an innocent man. I wouldn't."
"I never said you would." Sam retorted.
"Fine." Dean huffed.
"Fine." Sam huffed back. You just sighed and rolled your eyes.
"Look, guys we have no idea what it is. All we can do is go check it out. We shouldn't assume things before they happen." You commented from the backseat.
"Sure, but whatever it is, that guy in the chair is a part of it. So, let's find him and see what's what." Sam suggested.
"Fine." Dean said.
"Fine. Sam said back.
"Whatever." You sighed.
As you guys rode into town everything seemed normal. Dean turned the engine off as you three looked out the window."He was there." Sam pointed at a dark-skinned man across the street working on a fishing pole. So you three decided to talk to him first.
"Morning." Dean greeted him as you three walked up to him.
"Morning. Can I help you?" He asked.
"Yeah. Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, and F/N F/L/N. U.S. Marshals." Dean introduced you three and you flashed your badges at him.
"What's this about?" He wondered as you got his attention.
"We're looking for someone." Dean answered.
"A young man, early twenties. He'd have a thin scar right below his hairline." Sam explained.
"What did he do?" The man questioned.
"We're actually looking for someone else, but we think he might have a clue about their whereabouts." You went on.
"He's not in any kind of trouble or anything. Not yet." Dean stated trying to reassure the man. "I think maybe you know who he is, Master Sergeant. My dad was in the corps. He was a corporal."
"What company?" The man asked Dean.
"Echo-2-1." Dean smiled.
"So, can you help us?" Sam asked him.
"Duane Tanner's got a scar like that." The man shared. "But I know him. Good kid. Keeps his nose clean."
"Oh, I'm sure he does. Do you know where he lives?" Dean wondered.
"With his family, up Aspen way." The man said as he pointed down the street.
"Thank you." You smiled at him as you three walked away. As you three crossed the street Sam bumped into a pole and stared at it for a second.
"Hey." He called to you and Dean and pointed to a word carved into the pole.
"Croatoan?" You and Dean read in unison.
"Yeah." Sam nodded. "Roanoke. Lost colony. Ring a bell?"
"Did, you guys pay any attention in history class?" Sam asked.
"Sorry, they never covered that at my school." You shrugged.
"Yeah. The shot heard around the world. How bills becomes laws." Dean said.
"That's not school. That's "schoolhouse rock." Sam scoffed.
"Whatever." Dean shrugged.
"Roanoke was one of the first English colonies in America-late 1500s." Sam began.
"Oh, yeah, yeah, I do remember that." Dean nodded. "The only thing they left behind was a single word carved in a tree."Croatoan.""
"Yeah, and there were theories-Indian raid, disease-but nobody knows what really happened. They were all just gone, wiped out overnight." Sam explained.
"You don't think that's going on here." Dean scoffed as he looked around.
"Whatever I saw in my head, it sure wasn't good." Sam mumbled. "But what do you think could do that?"
"Well, I mean, like I said, all your weirdo visions are always tied to the yellow-eyed demon somehow, so..." Dean sighed.
"We should get help." Sam suggested. "Bobby. Ellen, maybe."
"Yeah, that's a good idea." Dean agreed as he started dialing his phone. "I don't have a signal." You and Sam each pulled out your own phones to see if you had a signal, but neither one did.
"I don't either." Sam sighed.
"Guys, I've got a really bad feeling." You mumbled as you got knots in your stomach. Dean walked up to a payphone and tried using it.
"The line's dead." Dean scoffed. "I'll tell you one thing-If I was gonna massacre a town, that'd be my first step."
You guys decided to go ahead to Duane's house to investigate Sam's vision. Sam knocked on the front door, when a boy answered it. "Yeah?" He asked looking between you three.
"Hi, looking for Duane Tanner. He lives here, right?" Dean asked as he flashed his badge.
"He's my brother." The boy said as he glanced at Dean's badge.
"Can we talk to him?" You asked him.
"He's not here right now." The boy replied.
"Do you know where he is?" Dean questioned.
"Yeah, he went on a fishing trip up by Roslyn Lake." He explained.
"Your parents home?" Sam asked him.
"Yeah, they're inside." He nodded.
"Jake, who is it?" You heard a man call from inside.
"Hi, U.S. Marshals, sir." Dean greeted the man as he walked up to Jake. "We're looking for your son Duane."
"Why? He's not in trouble, is he?" The man asked.
"No, no, no. We just need to ask him a couple of routine questions." Dean explained.
"When is he due back from his trip?" Sam asked him.
"I'm not sure." The man sighed.
"Well, maybe your wife knows." Sam suggested.
"No, I don't know. She's not here right now." The man told you.
"Well, your son said she was." You pointed out.
"Did I?" Jake wondered.
"She's getting groceries." The man chuckled as he put his hand on Jake's shoulder. "So, when Duane gets back, there's a number where he can get ahold of you?"
"Oh, no, we'll just check in with you later." Dean told him. You three walked down the front stepped as Jake closed the front door.
"Was it just me or were they a little creepy?" You wondered.
"A little too Stepford." Dean added.
"Big-time." Sam agreed. You and Sam followed Dean around the side of the house and you ducked under the window as you heard a door close. You three looked in the window to see the man cut Jake's arm and force blood into a wound on a woman's shoulder. Dean then got his pistol out and kicked the backdoor open. "Put it down!" Sam shouted as he and Dean aimed their pistols that the man and Jake. While you stood behind them and covered them. The man ran at you guys so Dean shot him. Then Jake jumped out the window. Sam ran to the window and watched as Jake ran into the woods.
You three returned to the center of town with the woman who was bound up and took her to the town's clinic. Sam helped her out of the car and into the building while you helped Dean grab the man's body from the trunk and bring it into the lobby. "Hey!" Dean called as he carried the body over his shoulder.
"Is that...?" Dr. Lee began.
"Mr. Tanner?" Dean suggested.
"Was he attacked, too?" Dr. Lee asked you two.
"No, actually he attacked his wife." You replied. "And then he got himself shot."
"Shot?" Dr. Lee questioned.
"Yeah." Dean nodded.
"And who are you?" She wondered.
"U.S. Marshals." You answered as you flashed her your badge.
"Oh, right, bring him back here." She told you and she led you and Dean into the backroom. After setting the body in the back you and Dean followed her to the exam room so she could look at Mrs. Tanner. "Wait, you said Jake helped him?" Dr. Lee asked Mrs. Tanner. "Your son, Jake?"
"They beat me." Mrs. Tanner cried. "Tied me up."
"I don't believe it." Pam spoke.
"Pam." Dr. Lee said to Pam. "Beverly, do you have any idea why they would act this way? Any history of chemical dependency?"
"No, of course not." Beverly shook her head while you and the boys stood by the door watching. "I don't know why. One minute, they were my husband and my son, and the next they had the devil in them."
"We've got to talk." Dean whispered as he led you and Sam into the hallway out of earshot. "Those guys were whacked out of their gourds."
"What do you think, mass possession?" You wondered.
"If it is a possession, there could be more. God knows how many. It could be like a freaking shriner convention." Dean stated. "Of course, that's one way to wipe out a town-You take it from the inside.
"I don't know guys. We didn't see any of the demon smoke with Tanner." Sam pointed out. "Or any of the other usual signs."
"Oh, well, whatever something turned him into a monster." Dean shrugged. as he walked past Sam. You know, if you would have taken out the other one, there would be one less to worry about."
"I'm sorry. I hesitated." Sam stated. "Dean, it was a kid."
"No, it was an "it." Dean corrected Sam. "It's not the best time for a bleeding heart, Sam."
"I'm inclined to agree with Dean on this Sam, no normal, sane person would that to his mother. And if he can do that to her imagine what he could do to other people." You commented. Before either of you could respond Dr. Lee walked into the hall.
"How's the patient?" Sam asked Dr. Lee.
"Terrible. What the hell happened out there?" Dr. Lee questioned.
"We don't know." Dean replied.
"You just killed my next-door neighbor." Dr. Lee spat.
"We didn't have a choice." You retorted.
"Maybe so, but we need the county Sheriff." Dr. Lee told you. "I need the coroner."
"The phones are down." Sam mumbled.
"I know. I tried. Tell me you've got a police radio in your car." Dr. Lee spoke.
"Yeah, we do, but it crapped out just like everything else." Sam shared.
"I don't understand what is happening." Dr. Lee cried.
"How far is it to the next town?" Dean asked her.
"It's about forty miles down to Sidewinder." Dr. Lee answered.
"Y/N and I are gonna go down there and see if we can find some help." Dean decided. "Our partner will stick around and keep you guys safe."
"Safe from what?" Dr. Lee questioned as you and Dean began to leave.
"We'll get back to you on that." Dean stated.
You and Dean left the Clinic and started heading out of town. As Dean was driving you pulled up behind a car in the middle of the road. You two got out to inspect it. As you walked up to it you saw blood all over the seats and the windows were shattered. It also looked like someone fired a shotgun through the windshield. "Who would do something like this?" You questioned speechless about what you saw there was even a car seat in the back with blood covering in it. You watched Dean pick up a blood-soaked dagger off the ground.
"Let's go." Dean mumbled as you two returned to the Impala.
Dean continued driving down the road, when you came across what looked like a blockade made by some of the townsfolk. Their vehicles blocked the bridge out of town and they stood guard holding an array of guns. Dean stopped the car and you two watched the men to see what they were going to do. Dean left the engine on in case you two needed to make a quick exit. That's when you noticed Jake among the group of men, so you knew this could only be bad news."Dean, plan?" You whispered as you looked over at him. Suddenly a loud bang on the roof of the car made you both jump out of your skin. as an older man leaned down to look through Dean's window.
"Oh, ho, ho. Hey." Dean smiled at the guy.
"Sorry. Road's closed." The man told you.
"Yeah, we can see that. What's up?" Dean asked him.
"Quarantine." The man stated.
"Quarantine? What is it?" You wondered.
"Don't know." The man shrugged. "Something going around out there."
"Uh-huh. Who told you that?" Dean questioned.
"County Sheriff." The man stated.
"Is he here?" Dean wondered.
"No. He called." The man shook his head. "Say why don't you two get out of the car and we'll talk a little?"
"Well, you are a handsome devil, but I don't swing that way, sorry." Dean quipped.
"I'd sure appreciate it if you got out of the car, just for a quick minute." The man threatened.
"Oh, I'm sure you would." You chuckled awkwardly as you and Dean smiled at the man. Dean quickly switched gears and sped in reverse to get as far away from these guys as you could. You could the tires screech as the high-noise pierced your ears and you could smell the scent of rubber burning on asphalt.
"Stop!" The man shouted trying to hold onto Dean. The group of men started running after you with their guns aimed towards you.
"Y/N, duck!" Dean shouted as the men started to fire at you. You quickly ducked your down behind the dashboard. You braced yourself as Dean did a one hundred-eighty degree turn and threw the man off onto the road. Then Dean sped off back towards town quickly as he could.
As you two returned to town it was dead until suddenly the man who told you about Duane appeared in front of the Impala aiming a rifle at you two. "Hands where I can see them!" The man shouted.
"Son of a-" Dean started to swear as you two put your hands up.
"Get out of the car!" The man demanded as you and Dean stared at him for a second. "Out of the car!"
"Crap." Dean muttered.
"Dean." You whispered.
"All right. Easy there, big guy." Dean spoke as you both got out of the car. As you both got out you quickly pulled your pistols and aimed them at the man. "Put it down!"
"Lower it now!" The man shouted.
"Put it down!" You shouted back.
"Are you one of them?!" The man asked you two.
"No, Are you?!" Dean asked.
"No!" The man shouted.
"You could be lying!" Dean argued.
"So could you!" The man argued back.
"Alright boys put your dicks away I don't think any of us are them!" You yelled as you lowered your pistol.
"She's right we could do this all day. All right." Dean said as he lowered his gun. "Let's just take it easy before we kill each other."
"What's going on with everybody?" The man asked as he slowly lowered his rifle.
"We don't know." You admitted.
"My neighbor, Mr. Rogers-" The man began.
"You've got a neighbor named Mr. Rogers?" Dean asked him.
"Not anymore." The man shook his head. "He came at me with a hatchet. I put him down. He's not the only one. I mean, it's happening to everyone."
"We're heading over to doc's place. There's still some people left." Dean told him.
"No way, I'm getting the hell out." The man disagreed.
"We already tried that, those things have got the bridge blocked off. We're trapped here." You warned him.
"I don't believe you." The man spat.
"Fine, stay here. Be my guest." Dean shrugged as you two got back in the Impala. Dean aimed his pistol at the man as he walked over to the back door with his rifle and pistol in hand. As he got in the backseat they kept their pistols aimed at each other. "Y/N, keep an on him."
"Okay, gotcha. Well, this is gonna be a lovely drive." You sighed as you aimed your pistol at the man while Dean started driving towards the clinic.
Once you three reached the clinic Dean knocked on the door."Sammy! Open up!" Dean called through the door. Sam let you three back into the clinic and you let out a sigh of relief.
"Did you guys get to a phone?" Sam asked you as you walked into the lobby.
"Roadblock." Dean stated. "We're gonna have a word. Doc's inside."
"All right." The man nodded as he walked away.
"What's going on out there, guys?" Sam questioned.
"I feel like Chuck Heston in "The Omega Man." Dean scoffed. "Sarge is the only sane person we could find."
"Do you have any idea of what we're dealing with?" You asked Sam.
"Yeah, doc thinks it's a virus." Sam answered.
"Okay, great. What do you think?" Dean asked Sam.
"I think she's right." Sam nodded.
"Really?" You questioned.
"And I think the infected. are trying to infect others with blood-to-blood contact. Oh but it gets better. The virus leaves traces of sulfur in the blood." Sam explained.
"A demonic virus?" Dean scoffed.
"More like demonic germ warfare." Sam corrected. "At least it explains why I've been having visions."
"It's like a biblical plague." Dean grumbled.
"Yeah. You don't know how right you are, Dean." Sam agreed. "I've been pouring through Dad's journal. I found something about the Roanoke colony. Dad always had a theory about "Croatoan. He thought it was a demon's name-Sometimes known as Daeva or Reshef-A demon of plague and pestilence."
"Well, that's terrific. Why here? Why now?" Dean wondered.
"I have no idea." Sam shrugged. "But, guys, who knows how far this thing can spread? We've got to get out of here. We've got to warn people."
"They've got one. In here." Mark shouted from the other room.
"What do you mean?" Dean asked as you followed them into the other room.
"The wife-She's infected." Sam shared.
"We've got to take care of this." Mark stated as you three walked up to him. "We can't just leave her in there. My neighbors-They were strong. The longer we wait, the stronger she'll get." Dean cocked his pistol and walked into the room where they were keeping her.
"You're gonna kill Beverly Tanner?" Pam cried.
"Doctor, could there be any treatment?" Sam asked Dr. Lee. "Some kind of cure for this?"
"Can you cure it?" You asked her.
"I don't even know what "it" is." Dr. Lee cried.
"I told you it's only a matter of time before she breaks through." Mark warned.
"Just leave her there, you can't shoot her like an animal." Pam cried.
"Sam. Y/N." Dean nodded towards the both of you and Dean towards the supply closet they kept Beverly in. You guys nodded to each as Sam started to open the door. Mark stepped past you three and aimed his pistol at Beverly who was huddled in the corner of the room.
"Mark. What are you doing?" Beverly cried. "Mark, it's them. They locked me in here. They tried to kill me. They're infected not me. Please, Mark. You've known me all your life. Please." Beverly bawled as tears welled up in Mark's eyes.
"Are you sure she's one of them?" Dean asked Sam.
"Yeah." Sam nodded his head. Dean then stepped into the room and shot a few bullets into Beverly.
You guys managed to grab what you could from the Impala just before night had fallen, and now the infected were surrounding the building. Pam and Dr. Lee stayed in the exam room, while Sam and Mark watched the lobby. Dean kept an eye on everyone while you were checking on the backdoor. You didn't notice it before but you were actually terrified, you could feel your whole body shaking. You needed to at least look strong in front of Sam and Dean. You didn't want them to see you as weak. "Hey." You heard Dean whisper as he walked behind you. "You okay?"
"Oh, yeah I'm fine." You lied trying to hold your hands tight so he wouldn't see them shaking.
"Not you're not, I can tell when someone is putting on a brave face." Dean spoke softly as he grabbed your hands and held them tight. "Sorry. Sometimes I forget that you didn't grow up in this life. You don't have to act brave around me." He cooed as he pulled you into him. The warmth of his body, his scent all comforted you and calmed you down. "I'll take care of you. I promise I won't let anything happen to you." Dean promised as he held you tight in his arms. You quietly nodded your head as you held on to him even tighter. Never wanting this moment to end. Suddenly you two heard glass shattering in the exam room and you heard Pam scream.
"Why are we staying here? Please, let's just go." Pam cried as you and Dean walked into the room.
"We can't, 'cause those things are everywhere." Dean told them.
"Oh, God. Why is this happening?" Pam cried.
"Sh, shh, shh." Dr. Lee whispered trying to comfort Pam.
"She's right about one thing. We can't stay here." Sam agreed with Pam. "We've got to get out of here, get to the Roadhouse, somewhere let people know what's coming."
"Yeah, that's a good point." Dean nodded. ""Night of the Living Dead" didn't exactly end pretty."
"I'm not sure we got a choice. Lots of folks up here are good with rifles." Mark warned you guys. "Even with all your hardware, we're easy targets. So, unless you've got some explosives..."
"Well, this is a clinic there's got to be some chemicals we can use to make explosives." You pointed out as you gestured to the bottles on the shelves.
"She's right we could make some." Sam agreed. Suddenly you heard knocking on the door.
"Let me in, please!" You heard someone shout.
"It's Duane Tanner." Mark told you guys as you followed him into the lobby. Mark ran over and unlocked the door for Duane letting him in.
"Oh, thank God." Duane breathed a sigh of relief as he walked in.
"Duane, you okay?" Mark asked him as Mark followed him back in.
"That's the guy that I..." Dean clicked his tongue as he motioned at his neck.
"Yeah." Sam nodded.
"Who else is in here?" Duane asked.
"Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy there, chief." Dean stated as he walked up to Duane. "Hey, doc, give Duane a good once-over, would you?" Dean asked Dr. Lee as he escorted Duane into the exam room.
"Pam?" Dr. Lee called.
"Who are you?" Duane as you guys.
"Never mind who we are. Doc." Dean nodded to Dr. Lee.
"Yeah, okay." Dr. Lee nodded back.
"Duane, where you been?" Mark wondered.
"I was on a fishing trip up by Roslyn." Duane answered. "I came back this afternoon. I saw Roger McGill being dragged out of his house by people we know. They started cutting him with knives. I ran. I've been hiding in the woods ever since. Has anybody seen my mom and dad?"
"Awkward." Dean whispered to you and Sam.
"You're bleeding." Dr. Lee noticed as she examined his cut.
"Where did you get that?" Dean questioned Duane.
"I was running. I must have tripped." Duane replied.
"Tie him up. There's rope in there." Dean told Mark.
"Wait-" Duane protested as he tried to stand up.
"Sit down!" Dean growled as he aimed his pistol at Duane.
"Listen, things will be easier if you just listen to us. We want to make sure no one else gets hurt." You tried to explain to Duane.
"Sorry, Duane. She's right. We've got to be careful." Mark agreed.
"Careful? About what?" Duane questioned.
"Did they bleed on you?" Dean asked Duane.
"No. What the hell?! No!" Duane scoffed.
"Doc, any way to know for sure? Any test?" Sam asked Dr. Lee while Mark grabbed the rope.
"I've studied Beverly's blood work backwards and forwards." Dr. Lee began.
"My mom." Duane cried.
"It took three hours for the virus to incubate. Sulfur didn't appear in the blood until then, so, no, there would be no way of knowing." Dr. Lee explained. "Not until after Duane...turns."
"Dean, Y/N, we need to talk. Now." Sam stated as you three walked out of the room and closed the door on your way out.
"This is my vision, guys. It's happening." Sam pointed out.
"Yeah, I figured." Dean nodded.
"You can't kill him. Not yet." Sam told Dean. "We don't know if he's infected or not."
"Oh, I think we're pretty d*mn sure." Dean argued. "Guy shows up out of nowhere, cut on his leg, his whole family is infected."
"The problem is we would need to wait three hours to know for sure if he was infected or not. If he turns before the three hours are up then it might be too late. We're d*mned if we do d*mned if we don't." You explained.
"All right, we should keep him tied up, and we should wait and see." Sam suggested.
"For what? For him to hulk out, infect somebody else? Maybe you? Maybe Y/N?" Dean argued back. "No, thanks. Can't take that chance." Dean tried to leave the room but Sam stopped him. "Look, man. I'm not happy about this, but it's a tough job, and you know that."
"It's supposed to be tough. We're supposed to struggle with this. That's the whole point." Sam retorted.
"What does that buy us?" Dean questioned.
"A clear conscience, for one." Sam spat.
"It's too late for that." Dean argued. You weren't sure how to intervene you could see both of their views, it would be great to not have to kill Duane, but you guys needed to save as many people as you could.
"What the hell has happened to you?" Sam asked Dean as he stopped him from leaving again.
"What?" Dean questioned.
"You might kill an innocent man, and you don't even care." Sam scoffed. "You don't act like yourself anymore, Dean. Hell, you're acting like one of those things out there." Sam tried to stop Dean again, but Dean stepped around Sam and shoved him into the wall. Then he walked out of the room and locked you and Sam in.
"Hey, why are you locking me in here?!" You shouted.
"So you don't let him out." Dean growled.
"Come on really?" You scoffed.
"Open the d*mn door." Dam demanded Dean, but Dean just walked away. "Dean! Don't do it, Dean! Don't!" Dean was out of earshot at that point. "D*mmnit!" Sam yelled as he pounded against the door.
"Don't waste your energy Sam, we're gonna need it to kick his as* after we get through this." You advised him. "Trust Dean, not your visions." Dean came back shortly after and let you two out of the room, you were happy to find out that Dean didn't kill Duane. But things were still tense between Sam and Dean after their fight.
You three just sat at the table making explosives with you sitting between the boys. They glared silently at each other while you just focused on your work."It's been over four hours." Dr. Lee told you three as she walked into the room. "Duane's blood is still clean. I don't think he's infected. I'd like to untie him, if that's all right." Sam and Dean gave each other a look.
"Sure. Yeah." Sam nodded to Dr. Lee.
"You know I'm gonna ask you why." Sam told Dean.
"Yeah, I know." Dean mumbled.
"So, why? Why didn't you do it?" Sam asked Dean.
"We need more alcohol." Dean spoke gruffly.
"Tell you what? I'll go grab more alcohol while you two spend quality time together." You offered as you got up and walked into the other room.
"Are you doing okay Pam?" You asked her as you went to grab more alcohol.
"Good. it will all be over soon." Pam answered in a bit of a monotone voice. Something about the way Pam was speaking worried you a bit, she sounded almost like the infested outside. As you grabbed the alcohol, you took the cap off one of the bottles of alcohol, and you heard her lock the door behind you. "In fact...I've been waiting for this the whole time."
"For what?" You asked cautiously.
"I was hoping on getting Sam alone, but you'll have to do." She stated. Suddenly she screamed as she came at you with a scalpel she managed to slice across your collarbone while you threw alcohol into her eyes. She fell backwards screaming as the alcohol burned her eyes. While she was in shock you pulled out your pistol and shot her a few times in the chest. Her body fell limp against the wall. You saw Dean kick the door open with his pistol at the ready, looking at Pam's dead body and you. Mark walked up behind him. You took a few deep breaths as you composed yourself. Dean tried to walk over to check on you, Mark stopped him.
"She might be infected." Mark warned Dean.
"What happened?" Dean asked you.
"I came in to get some more alcohol when Pam tried to attack me. She managed to slice my collarbone, but I threw some alcohol in her eyes before she could bleed on me." You explained. You knew Sam and Dean would believe but trying to convince the others would be another story.
"She could have the virus." Mark repeated as he pulled Dean away from you.
Against Mark's wishes Sam and Dean took you to see Dr. Lee so she could patch up your wound. "Doctor, check her wound again, would you?" Dean asked Dr. Lee as you sat on the exam table, holding gauze against your wound, while Dean paced back and forth not leaving your side for a second. Sam stood by the doorway keeping watch.
"What does she need to examine her for?" Mark questioned. "She was locked in that room with Pam. Pam must have infected her."
"Did her blood enter your wound?" Dr. Lee asked you.
"No it didn't." You answered.
"Come on, she's lying to us, of course it did!" Mark shouted.
"We don't know that for sure!" Dean argued.
"We can't take a chance. You know what we have to do." Mark spat.
"Nobody is shooting her." Dean growled.
"She might not be her much longer." Duane voiced concern. "You said it yourself!"
"Nobody's shooting anyone." Dean repeated.
"You were gonna shoot me!" Duane cried.
"You don't shut your pie-hole I still might." Dean threatened Duane.
"Dean, can I talk to you in the hallway." Sam asked Dean.
"But, Sam." Dean spoke gruffly not wanting to leave you alone with them.
"Dean, now." Sam asked.
"Fine, but watch them Doc, if either of you harm just one hair on her head I'll kill you both, and that's not a threat it's a promise." Dean warned Mark and Duane as Sam and Dean left the room for a second. You weren't sure what Sam wanted to talk to Dean about you didn't like being left alone with Mark and Duane. They started to whisper among themselves before turning to look at you.
"Doc, don't get involved." Mark warned Dr. Lee. "Sorry, Y/N, but we can't take any chances." Mark apologized as he and Duane grabbed you and put your arms behind your back. They started to drag you to the back of the Clinic.
"I'm not infected I promise you that!" You cried as you struggled against them. You tried to make as much noise as you could to get Sam and Dean's attention. It worked cause they came running down the hall.
"Y/N!" Dean and Sam yelled, but they stopped moving when Mark aimed his pistol at the back of your head.
"D*mmit! Sam! Dean!" You screamed with tears running down your face.
"She needs to die." Mark warned Dean.
"You want to kill her you gotta go through me." Dean growled at Mark as he aimed his pistol at Mark and Duane. "If she dies then we are dying together!"
"Wait, wait, wait. Let's give her a chance." Sam intervened between Dean and Mark. "We gave Duane four hours, let's give Y/N the same. We lock her up for now and if she hasn't turned by then Dr. Lee can test her blood." Sam suggested.
"Sam." Dean growled.
"Trust me this is our best chance." Sam tried to reassure Dean.
"Fine, we'll do it you away, but if she tries anything I'll shoot her on the spot." Mark growled as he threw you in an unused exam room next to you and locked the door. "Neither of you better try to let her out." Mark warned Sam and Dean as he aimed his pistol at him for a second before leaving your view. You sighed as you got comfortable in the office chair that was in there. You checked your wound it still hurt like a b*tch, but the bleeding was slowing down.
You weren't sure how much time had passed since you were locked in there. You started getting bored out of your mind. Suddenly you heard the door unlock as Dean walked in. "Times up, the Doc will see you now." Dean smiled. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine minus the pain from my cut." You groaned as you got up and followed him to Dr. Lee. Sam and Dr. Lee were waiting in the other exam room ready to take your blood. "Where's Mark and Duane?' You asked as you sat down on the table.
"They are checking on things outside." Sam answered. Dr. Lee drew some of your blood and examined it under her microscope.
"Well..." Dr. Lee began. "You'll be happy to know she is perfectly healthy, the virus isn't her." Dr. Lee smiled.
"Good." Sam sighed in relief.
"Well, yeah I could have told you that." You grumbled. "Oh wait I did."
"Easy, there tiger." Dean chuckled as he roughed up your hair a bit.
"Hey!" You cried as you swatted his hands away. Suddenly you guys heard footsteps approaching.
"You guys need to come see this." Mark told you guys as he led you outside. The streets were completely empty, none of the infected people were there.
"There's no one? Not anywhere?" Dr. Lee questioned.
"They all just vanished." Mark stated as you and the boys looked back at the Croatoan carved on the pole.
Morning finally came and with it a huge weight off your shoulders. Mark and Duane were packing everything they could in a beat-up pick-up truck."The sarge and I are getting the hell out of here." Duane told Dr. Lee. "Heading south. You should come."
"I'd better get over to Sidewinder, get the authorities up here." Dr. Lee shared. "If they'll believe me. Take care." Dr. Lee waving goodbye to you three too as she walked back inside the Clinic. You were debating on telling Sam and Dean what Pam told you about Sam.
"Hey, you okay?" Dean asked as they both started at you. You sighed.
"Well, before Pam attacked me she mentioned how she was waiting for Sam and how she wanted to infect him." You revealed. Dean just stared at Sam for a second.
"Hey, man, don't look at me. I've got no clue." Sam shrugged.
"I swear, I'm gonna lose sleep over this one." Dean grumbled. "I mean, why here? Why now? Where the hell did everybody go? It's not like they just freaking melted."
"Why did Pam want to infect me?" Sam wondered.
"Yeah, you know what? That's a good question." Dean agreed. "You know, I'm already starting to feel like this is the one that got away." Dean stated as he got into the car. You and Sam joined him in the car. Then he drove away.
A few days later you three were enjoying a break by a beautiful lake. You watched as the sun glistened and made the water sparkle and you could hear birds chirping in the trees nearby. "Ah, isn't it beautiful. I'd never have imagined what we went through a few days ago." You beamed as you took in the nature around you.
"Yeah, just lovely." Dean grumbled.
"Hey don't ruin my moment!" You growled at Dean as you enjoyed the breeze blowing past you. Sam sat on the fence drinking a beer, while you and Dean were leaning on it next to each other.
"So, the other night-You want to tell me what the hell you were talking about?" Sam asked Dean.
"What do you mean?" Dean questioned.
"Did I miss something important?" You wondered.
"No, nothing." Dean grunted.
"It was a conversation we had when you were locked up in that room." Sam explained. "Dean said he was tired of the job and that it wasn't just because of Dad."
"Forget it." Dean sighed.
"No, I can't. No way." Sam shook his head.
"I thought we were all gonna die." Dean admitted. "You can't hold that over me."
"Nah, nah, no. You can't pull that crap with me, man." Sam denied. "You're talking."
"And what if I don't?" Dean asked Sam.
"Then I guess I'll just have to keep asking you till you do." Sam smiled.
"I don't know, guys." Dean scoffed. "I just think maybe we ought to...go to the Grand Canyon."
"What?" You and Sam asked in unison.
"Yeah, you know, all this driving back and forth across the country-do you know I've never been to the Grand Canyon? Or we could go to T.J. or Hollywood-see if we could bang Lindsay Lohan." Dean rambled on.
"You're not making any sense." Sam spoke.
"I just think we should take a break from all this." Dean admitted. "Why do we got to get stuck with all the responsibility? You know, why can't we live life a little bit?"
"Why are you saying all this?" Sam wondered. Dean just turned away and drank his beer.
"No, no, no, no, no. Dean, you're my brother, all right? So, whatever weight you're carrying, let me help a little bit." Sam offered.
"Yeah, Sam's right. You always put too much of a burden on yourself to protect everyone else. Let us help you for once." You nodded.
"I can't. I promised." Dean stated.
"Who?" Sam asked.
"Dad." Dean answered.
"What are you talking about?" Sam questioned.
"Right before Dad died..he told me something. He told me something about you. " Dean shared.
"What?" Sam asked. "Dean, what did he tell you?"
