Chapter One: Strange Day

Touya scowled.

Women crowded around him, pressing their hands against his arms, abdomen and chest without permission.

"Look, it's Dabi!" Another one squealed as she joined in the crowd.

His nose burned at the sharp scent of all their perfumes combined.

No matter how many times this happened, he still couldn't get used to it.

Touya roughly pulled himself free from the swelling crowd. He encircled himself in a small wave of azure flames, forcing them back several steps to avoid being burned.

"Don't touch me." He hissed through clenched teeth.

He hated to be touched.

Ever since he was a teenager, women and girls alike would swarm him. They would put their hands on him and act as if he were supposed to just pretend like it was perfectly natural for him to be felt up by strangers. Feeling other people's hands drag down the length of his body made him shudder. He hated it. He hated the very notion that these virtual strangers felt as if they had any right to lay their hands on him in any way they wished.

When people said that they felt objectified, he fully understood it. In fact, he lived it every single day.

Being the number three hero had its perks. He had plenty of money to live off of for the foreseeable future and he had enough name recognition that people no longer referred to him as 'Endeavor's son'. That fame also came at a price. That being the now nationwide influx of attention from the opposite sex. Hell even those of his own gender tried their hand at touching him inappropriately.

Every year he was voted in the top three 'sexiest heroes'. He never asked to be included in their lists but that didn't stop the constant media attention.

More than once he had to break lease and move overnight due to random 'fans' breaking into his apartment. The worst one he could recall was when some girl claimed that they'd been in a relationship for three years and that she was finally ready to marry him. He'd never even seen her once in his life, but she'd somehow turned up in his living room with a knife in hand. He'd dealt with her immediately however the image was stuck in his head. He'd since installed cameras in most areas of his place and resorted to checking them before going inside. By now he'd given up on the thought of buying a house for security reasons. It was easier to rent in case he had to pick up and leave again.

He'd even started using wash-in dyes for his hair whenever he needed to run short errands when off duty. It was amazing what a change of hair color and pullover hoody could do to a person's appearance.

"How rude!" One of the women scoffed, plucking herself from the ground while she batted at the small embers of azure flames that were burning the edges of her sleeves.

"That'll cost you some of your popularity points." Hawks grinned as the man flew down from above.

Touya shot him a baleful look, "Aren't you a little far from Fukuoka? What the hell are you doing here?"

It was inevitable that the two of them would be compared to one another, both on the hero charts and in popularity polls. Thus far he'd consistently out performed Hawks in terms of his professional work, but the blond always came in ahead in any popularity contest. It was a fact that didn't bother him in the least. Hawks could have all of the women currently swooning over him for all he cared.

"I actually came here to team up with you." The blond threw him a wide grin, "I knew where to find you thanks to how flashy your attacks are."

Touya glanced at the villain being taken in the back of an Iron Maiden.

He'd barely finished his fight with the bastard before he'd gotten swamped. The 'fans' didn't even give him enough time to secure the culprit before they tried rushing him.

It was annoying.

"Not interested." Touya turned his back on the other hero.

He had to deal with public attention enough. If he had to put up with Hawks' antics too then he might just end up going crazy.

"Aw, but you didn't even hear what I had to say." The blond pouted

Touya rolled his eyes before giving him a final parting wave.

"I'm out bird brain. Go sucker my old man into one of your schemes. Later." He began walking forward.

He wasn't about to stick around and let the idiot rope him into some pain in the ass mission. Every time the bird showed up, things always turned to shit. Tonight, he just wanted to go home, crack open a beer and relax to some old movies.

Touya shoved his way through the crowd and took several winding turns through back alleys. After half an hour, the few stragglers that'd tried following him had fallen out of view. He quickly changed directions and made his way back to his place.

The streets gradually became less and less crowded. The people themselves were looking more rough with each turn he'd made.

He'd signed a lease with an apartment in a notoriously terrible neighborhood. Crime wasn't an issue for him as it was part of his job to deal with villains in the first place. The city was rough and the people unfriendly. Yet that was what he liked most about it. There was no one here who gave a rat's ass about him or his personal life. They didn't bother him and he didn't get involved with them either. It was a mutually beneficial relationship he had with his neighbors.

Touya pulled out his phone and quickly checked the security feeds to his apartment. He cycled through each one until he was certain that it was clear of any intruders.

He quickly unlocked the door and made his way inside.

He turned on the television and began stripping himself of his hero costume, pulling on a comfortable pair of sweat pants instead.

Touya listened as the news reporter rattled on.

"It's been ten years since Endeavor has suffered a casualty in his hero work." The reporter droned on as images of his father flashed across the screen. "However public opinion of him remains low due to his fierce demeanor."

The image of his father yelling at the crowd and local law enforcement was then put on display.

"There's been growing concerns about his behavior as of late. What's more, it would seem that this behavior is also an inherited trait."

Touya paused as images of himself from earlier that day were plastered across the screen.

"Dabi has shown himself to be as temperamental as his father. It is rare to see him interact with the public and when he does…" The reporter paused as a video of him played from earlier, showcasing how he'd used his flames to force the crowd back. "There's been much discussion about whether or not heroes should be held to a higher standard when interacting with civilians."

His finger hovered over the channel button on his remote.

It wasn't like he hadn't heard that line a thousand times.

He was too aggressive to be a hero, or he was too unfriendly for his position. He needed to put on a smile and let the fans have some fun.

His lips curled back into a snarl.

He hated it.

He hated feeling like some kind of figure being put on display.

Touya paused when he heard the faint sound of something scratching at his patio's sliding glass door.

He craned his neck, half expecting to see that crazed girl with the knife standing on his balcony. However he was pleasantly surprised to find a little black cat with emerald eyes staring up at him.

Curious, he rose to his feet and opened the door. The cat gave a low and displeased meow—glaring up at him as if it were disgusted by his very presence.

His lips curled up into a smile, "You're the one crashing my place. What're you pissed about?"

Touya reached his hand out and scratched the cat from under its chin. The little feline gave a displeased growl but refused to move, as if it was reluctantly enjoying the attention.

"Hold still for a sec," He reached further down and grasped onto the tag attached to its collar. He glanced at the information and found himself laughing.

Ohagi

Beneath the name was one additional message.

I'm not lost, just on an adventure. Please call my owner if I'm being a nuisance.

Clearly, this wasn't the cat's first time wandering away from home. It seemed to know its way around the town if it'd made its way to his place.

"Ohagi, huh? How'd you get a name like that?" Touya laughed when the cat batted at his hand. It'd purposefully only swatted him with his paws and hadn't drawn claws on him. Yet.

A thought suddenly cropped up in his head.

If the cat was bound to head home soon, then why not leave its owner a message?

He had to admit that he was mostly just bored and that he thought this whole situation was funny.

He was far too busy to keep a pet himself but he did prefer cats to dogs. So seeing one turn up on his patio was quite entertaining.

Touya went inside briefly.

He tore a small strip of paper from some he had sitting in his printer. From there he wrote a quick message.

Nice cat. How'd he get his name?

He didn't really expect to receive any sort of answer, but it was fun all the same.

Touya reached around and tied the note to the cat's collar.

"There," He smirked as Ohagi leapt up onto the railing of his patio. "Take that back to your family."

The cat gave one last meow before it jumped off and casually strolled down the alleyway, as if it were just waiting for permission to leave.

Touya laughed before he made his way back inside.

Even if today was a bust, he could say that something new happened at least.

With that he reached into his fridge and grabbed a beer.

Touya settled onto his couch once more as he changed the station to an old action film.

Today had been one very strange day.

A/n: Not even a day after I finished Of Butterfly Wings and I find myself missing the fluff. So here we are. A new premise and hopefully just as good. I'll probably keep to one or two updates a day for a little while and I'm not entirely sure how far I want this to go into the future just yet. I will say that the tragedy at Sekoto Peak never happened, so Touya is currently in his full glory without scars. I'll get into that later though. I've craving more fluff and some pro hero antics, so this will be fun. I hope you guys enjoy!
