You wake up to a familiar ache in the lower half of your stomach and a burning sensation across your cheeks and forehead. You notice that your head throbs with each heartbeat and that your throat is parched like a dry desert. You slowly drag yourself out of the comfort of your bed to shower in the hope that the warm water soothes your cramps and opens up your now clogging sinuses. You stand under the running water until it runs cold, savoring each moment that it eases the aches in your back. As you get out of the shower you wrap yourself up in the biggest warmest towel you have and make your way back to the bedroom to dress into some sweatpants and an old tee shirt, you place a pad in your underwear and put on some warm fluffy socks after smearing some vicks vapor rub on your feet hoping it will ease some of the congestion starting to build. You take two advil with some water from the bottle beside your bedside and decide to crawl back under the covers. You notice that Halsin is nowhere in sight and remember that Karlach and Wyll went on their journey back to Avernus a fortnight ago.

You then remember that Halsin had to go to a meeting with his conservationists group in the neighbouring town today.

Slightly disappointed you decide to take a nap, you listen to your favourite podcast as your eyes start to grow heavy and close.

You wake up once again, this time to the sunbeams shining through the gap of the curtains of the window and the sound of the kettle boiling on the stove, you take the opportunity to refresh yourself in the bathroom narrowly missing a mess from your cycle wreaking havoc with your uterus, you change your pad and sit on the edge of the bed, contemplating if you should eat something light to settle your stomach.

Halsin's meeting finished earlier than expected, he gets home back to shared your cottage to find you asleep in bed, he notices the smell of vicks and the towels and yesterday's clothes in the hamper.

He decides against waking you up, allowing you to rest and he busies himself with making a light soup and tea in the kitchen.

As soon as he hears you head back towards the bed, he is at your side asking about symptoms of your upcoming cold and cycle, he gets to work grabbing you a heat pack for your cramps and makes sure you are comfortable while you sip some of the tea and soup he made.

You manage about three quarters of the bowl of soup and finish the tea before dosing off, Halsin convinces you to take some herbal remedies and with your consent gently rubs your belly in circular motions as you begin to drift off back to some much needed sleep.

When you wake again, the room is starting to get dark, you feel groggy, congested and fatigued, malaise seeps into your body like lead and all you want to do is go back to sleep. No matter how hard you try, you can't and your throat stings, you start to cough slightly and sit up to sip the cool water from the bottle nearby.

Halsin walks in the room as you grimace at the sting of your throat and the fatigue in your bones. He gets you some tea for your throat laced with honey and checks you for a fever before giving you another heat pack for your cramps.

As much as you don't feel like eating, you allow him to get you some soup and eat it before taking some more medicine and curling up in bed under the covers.

Just this once you choose your favourite series to watch on the tv to distract you from your illness and you dose off once again.

Halsin takes the liberty of refilling your drink bottle and grabs a box of tissues and the waste bin and puts them by your side of the bed.

He places a warm compress over your face to help ease the sinus headaches taking hold there. It feels like heaven over your cheeks and brow and you allow him to draw circles with his fingers over your stomach until you drift off once again back to sleep with the hopes that you might feel slightly better come the morning.
