Akame Ga Kill: Kill the Second Chance.
Chapter Thirteen: Big Decision and Being Recruited.
Previously in the last chapter.
"And why do you want to meet with us exactly after you got our attention?" Mine asked, instantly becoming highly suspicious. She had not once lowered her guard even the slightest bit when coming out from the shadows behind the trees and Tatsumi revealing his first reason of why he wants to kill the person he works for as a bodyguard. She will always be on guard.
This was it, the moment Tatsumi had been anticipating ever since Night Raid has arrived at the noble mansion to carry out their assassination mission under the orders of the Revolutionary Army. He knew what he was about to reveal will shock and unnerve them, but with a reasonable explanation, they might consider letting him be recruited into their assassination ranks.
Taking a breath while bracing himself mentally for the reaction that's about to come, Tatsumi reveals why he wanted to meet with Night Raid in person after he gains their attention.
"Because I want to join your group and the Revolutionary Army side to kill the person who is completely responsible for all the bloodshed, the heavy corruption, the slavery, the manipulation, the fear, the misery and the carnage in this war. I want to help you all kill the Prime Minister, Honest, to ensure a better peaceful world to live in."
(In the Present; With Tatsumi and Night Raid)
True to Tatsumi's predication, Night Raid became once again incredibly shocked at what he said, their eyes widening to the size as dinner plates. Did he literally just say he wants to join them as an assassin and help kill the Prime Minister?! If it was a joke, it's not really funny. Not at all.
"You…you want to join our group to kill the Prime Minister, Honest?" Lubbock asked, thinking he must've misheard what Tatsumi said. His ears had to be playing tricks on him. "The same person who is completely responsible for all the bloodshed, the heavy corruption, the slavery, the manipulation, the fear, the misery and the carnage in this war? The same person Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army are planning to take out permanently to ensure a better peaceful world to live in?"
"Yes," Tatsumi replied, nodding his head in confirmation, a serious expression forming on his face. "That is precisely what I am asking you all. I want to join your assassination ranks, along with Revolutionary Army side, to help take out Honest to ensure a better peaceful world to live in, not only for us but also both the country people and the citizens in the Capital."
"Absolutely not!" Mine exclaimed, her voice filled with firmness and anger, getting Tatsumi to look her way. "There is no way in fucking hell we are going to let you become one of us!"
"But you haven't given me a chance to offer an explanation why I want to join Night Raid, little pipsqueak," Tatsumi said calmly, not effected by Mine's anger, which he knew it grew immensely at the nickname he just gave her.
"We don't give a shit about hearing your explanation! It's bad enough we had to encounter you much sooner than what we originally thought, but to hear you want to join us is insane! You are both delusional and crazy! Also, call me little pipsqueak again and I'll blast your stupid head off with my gun!"
Mine would've continued ranting angrily if it wasn't for Bulat, who had done some serious thinking in his head and came to a realization this offer to join Night Raid can be a perfect opportunity to get answers from Tatsumi, placing a hand on her shoulder. She turned to look at him, along with the other members of Night Raid.
"Mine, why don't you take Lubbock and head back to the noble mansion to look for Sheele?" Bulat asked smoothly without giving away his intentions. "She's probably wondering where we all are at the moment and could be lost."
Mine and Lubbock were confused at this sudden request from Bulat, except Leone and Akame as they have a good idea why he's making them leave. Nevertheless, they did what he wants by turning around and leaving the area to head towards the noble mansion where they will look for Sheele, who might already be lost while wondering where all her fellow assassins are at.
Once Mine and Lubbock were completely gone and out of hearing range, Bulat, Akame and Leone turned to face Tatsumi, who was staring at them with the same serious expression on his face. They can tell he really wants to join them and help take out Honest to ensure a better peaceful world to live in, not only for themselves but also both the country people and the citizens in the Capital.
Normally, Night Raid doesn't usually recruit anyone to their assassination ranks since they already have enough members and got powerful Teigus in their disposal, especially Murasame and Incursio. Not to mention, they were pretty strong, skilled and always get their missions done swiftly without any sort of complications.
But considering Tatsumi is a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid with the power of Tyrant inside him, something that shouldn't be possible, he can be the ultimate trump card both Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army desperately needs to end the war against the Empire who would never expect him at all when the final battle comes.
Already, Bulat, Akame and Leone are tempting to recruit Tatsumi into their assassination ranks as their newest member, but they must be absolute certain he wants to become one of them. They couldn't afford to have a new member who is either too lazy or scared to perform duties as an assassin, otherwise their reputation, along with the Revolutionary Army, would suffer greatly.
"Tatsumi, do you really want to join Night Raid to help us take out Honest?" Leone asked softly, sincerely hoping Tatsumi does join Night Raid. That way, she can start a romantic relationship with him. "If you do want to join, you're going have to become an assassin like all of us and kill people without hesitation. We don't just accept anyone when they say they want to join. They must be skilled, worth noticing and have a fierce determination to achieve our main goal."
"Yes, Leone, I do want to join Night Raid and help take out Honest," Tatsumi replied with complete honesty in his voice, not once losing the serious expression on his face. "We all share a common enemy who had created the world it is now because of the heavy corruption. This very nearly killed my friend who had been barely hanging onto life when I found her in this shack, but I healed her just in time. The heavy corruption is the reason why I want to join your group…so I can have it extinguish permanently. I do not care if I have become an assassin or kill people without hesitation, I would do almost anything to make sure the world is a better peaceful place to live in until my last dying breath."
The explanation Tatsumi gave out was reasonable enough to convince the three members of Night Raid who had listened to it quietly they are going to have a new member joining their ranks pretty soon. However, before they can actually recruit him, he must first meet their conditions first, which wasn't too many to begin with. He only needs to prove he can kill a person without hesitation and answer all their questions truthfully. After that, he becomes a member of Night Raid.
"Well, you're in luck then, Tatsumi," Akame said, a small smile appearing on her face, which was extremely rare since she never really smiles, not even when completing an assassination mission. "We are already tempting to let you become one of us."
"Wait, really?" Tatsumi asked, a look of great shock appearing on his face after hearing what Akame said. He had originally thought there was going to be an extremely huge debate that he'll have to offer a reasonable explanation, but it seems he has been wrong on both counts. Either way, he's excited to learn he is about to rejoin Night Raid after eight long years upon being sent back in time when he got killed during the final battle. "That's…that's great news."
"However, you must agree to our conditions first," Bulat said firmly, not wanting to get Tatsumi's hopes up just yet.
Tatsumi was silent as he wonders what these conditions are. Are they good or are they bad? He decided to ask Night Raid. "What are your conditions?"
"First, you must prove to us you can kill a person without hesitation," Leone stated, a serious expression forming on her face. "This is very crucial and important because the missions we receive from the Revolutionary Army are assassination ones and we cannot afford a new member to be either too lazy or scared to perform duties as an assassin, otherwise our reputation, along with the Revolutionary Army, would suffer greatly."
Tatsumi already knows about Night Raid getting assassination missions from the Revolutionary Army in the previous timeline, due to being a member, but chose to nod his head in understanding. "I can agree to the first condition since I'm actually going to kill Aria the moment our conversation is done. And what is your second condition?"
This time, it was Bulat who revealed the second condition. "You must answer all our questions we ask you truthfully, including the one why you fused with a Tyrant. Only then by performing the first condition in front of us and agreeing to the second one will we let you become a member of Night Raid."
Once again, Tatsumi was silent as he thought about the second condition. He knew without a doubt he has to accept it because there's no other way for him to join Night Raid, no matter how much he argues or protest heavily. It will only waste time. If he wants to become a member, then he must agree to the second condition by answering questions truthfully, including the one why he fused with a Tyrant.
After a few more moments of thinking, Tatsumi gave the three members of Night Raid his answer. "Fine, I'll answer all your questions truthfully, including the one why I fused with a Tyrant."
The three members of Night Raid couldn't help but let out a huge sigh of relief. They have been highly expecting heavy protest from Tatsumi, who probably has a reason why he fused with a Tyrant but didn't want to reveal it since it's a personal thing. This would've start an argument that could last for a long while. Thankfully, however, he chose to just agree to the second condition without much of a fight.
Now, Tatsumi needs to prove he can kill a person without hesitation in front of Bulat, Akame and Leone, and then he'll officially become a member of Night Raid. He did not waste any more time by turning around and walking towards the wooden shack where he called out to Aria when he got close enough, deeming it was safe to come out.
Not long after Tatsumi called out to Aria, she immediately burst out of the wooden shack the moment she heard his voice, causing the doors to bang against the wall on the outside hard. She had obviously been worried sick about him as there were tears running down her face. She was already sprinting towards him after bursting out of the shack to embrace him tightly, completely unaware she is currently heading into her ultimate demise.
When Aria reached the distance between her and Tatsumi, she had been prepared to jump on him and embrace him tightly. However, she didn't get the chance to do so as she felt something very sharp pierce through her abdomen, making her stop dead in her tracks and eyes becoming wide as dinner plates. She can feel waves of excruciating pain coursing through her body and a warm liquid traveling downwards from where she got stabbed, leaving her insides numb, cold and dark.
With eyes still wide as dinner plates, Aria quickly looked downwards to see a pure black sword implanted in her abdomen with the blade being slowly drench in her blood. It was then removed from her aggressively, producing a loud scream out of her lips as blood starts to gush outwards at an alarming rate. She tried to covered the wound up with her hands, which are now bloody, but the excruciating pain she's feeling inside her body was too much for her to handle and she ended up lying on the ground on her side in a whimpering manner.
Aria had tried to glance at the person responsible for stabbing her, but she was so weak she couldn't even lift her head up. The very last thing she felt before death embraced her whole being was something very sharp cutting her neck.
Tatsumi stared at the decapitated body of Aria with nothing but very cold cruel satisfaction on his face. He had originally planned on giving her a very painful brutal death for torturing Sayo and Ieyasu in the previous timeline, but since he was being watched by Bulat, Akame and Leone to prove he can kill a person without hesitation, he decided to kill her swiftly and quickly. There was no need to bring out his sadistic inner beast to scare his fellow comrades.
Speaking of fellow comrades, Tatsumi turned around to see Bulat, Akame and Leone were still standing in the same spot like before but had approved expressions on their faces. There was no doubt in his mind he has become a member of Night Raid after proving he can kill people without hesitation upon seeing those expressions of approval.
"Congratulations, Tatsumi," Leone stated, still retaining the approved expression on her face as she walked over to Tatsumi and put a hand on his shoulder. "You are now officially a member of Night Raid. Welcome to both the team and the Revolutionary Army side." 'Now, I can finally start a romantic relationship with you.'
At long last, Tatsumi has finally achieved his goal of rejoining Night Raid. Most importantly, he has reunited with his friends who are still alive and not dead. It took much willpower inside him to not start whooping and cheering loudly like he won a huge jackpot in a gambling game. Instead, he let a grin spread across his face and gave Bulat, Akame and Leone a gratitude nod. "Thank you, guys, for recruiting and accepting me into Night Raid. I promised I will not let you or the Revolutionary Army down."
'We hope you intend to keep that promise, Tatsumi,' Bulat, Akame and Leone all thought the exact same thing in their minds, hoping Tatsumi does keep his promise to not let both Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army down. 'Because we need all the help we can get to defeat the Empire and kill Honest to ensure a better peaceful world to live in, not only for us like you said but also both the country people and the citizens in the Capital. We cannot afford to let anyone slow us down to achieve our main goal, which is defeating the Empire and killing Honest.'
With Tatsumi being both Night Raid's and the Revolutionary Army's ultimate trump card as a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid with the power of Tyrant inside him, the Empire would never know what will hit them, especially Honest. They were all going to lose significantly.
And done! That's the ending of the chapter! Night Raid, except Mine, Lubbock and Sheele, has listened to Tatsumi's reasonable explanation of why he wants to join them and came to the realization by having him as theirs and the Revolutionary Army's ultimate trump card, they can win the war against the Empire. Once he has agreed to some of their conditions, which is proving he can kill a person without hesitation and answering questions truthfully, he finally achieves his goal of being recruited into their assassination ranks. The Empire is so screwed.
Next chapter will be Tatsumi resettling in Night Raid again the next day after being recently recruited into their assassination ranks.
