Chapter 3
Luan: "All we need now is to decide whose project to do first."
Lori: "Well, it's literally obvious that we should do mine first. Since I was the first one to write on the board."
Lynn: "No way! It will take forever to get some strokes off your golf game."
Lori: "Oh!" (Rolls her eyes): "And blowing up all the basketballs in your basketball collection won't?"
But while all my sisters are fighting, I am glaring down at my conscience. Who is sitting on my shoulder, looking up at me with a raised brow.
Conscience: "What?"
I should have never listened to you! You said my sisters must all have projects that need to be done before a deadline. But they don't! Lana wants to build a fish pound in the backyard, Lisa wants to alphabetize her science experiments, and Lola wants to make a scrapbook of, "all of her best moments"…NONE of them need to be done by today!
Conscience: "But they're still important to them. And it's not like all of your sisters' projects would take that much time, especially if you all work together. Heck if they're up for it, you and your sisters can split up. With one group working on one project, while the other works on another."
You what Conscience? You just gave me an idea! Hey Guys! I shouted to get my sisters attention.
My Sisters (All looking at me): "What?!"
I explained to them that what we need is a project manager. You know? Someone to keep track of who is doing what and with, as well as to assign them to new projects when they are finished with past ones. All my sisters seemed to like this idea and were okay with me volunteering to be the project manager for Project Day. Well, except for Lola, who is glaring at me. It will get your scrapbook done before you know it. I said to her with a smile.
Lola: "Okay…but I'm watching you pal."
Conscience: "So...you're having your sisters work together to get Project Day to end before Gus's open, aren't ya?"
What? N...Ugh...It's hard to answer with Conscience giving me the same judgmental glare that my sisters sometimes give me.
Conscience (Takes a deep breath): "Look...there's no way you can finish Project Day before Gus's open. But, if you can finish at a reasonable hour, you'll have plenty of time to play Marshmallow Sugar Blasters with Clyde."
I...Sigh...Guess that's fair. But I'm still worried about what I'm going to say to Clyde when he calls...Well, I guess I might as well get it over with, as I hear my phone ringing in my pocket. And sure enough, it's Clyde, as his name and picture are on my phone screen. Hello? I said when I pressed the answered button and put the phone to my ear. But all I get is static in response. And let me tell you, it's not nice to hear. I have no choice, but to end the call.
Lynn: "Are we going to get to work or not!"
Lynn says as she impatiently crosses her arms tapping her foot. And she is not the only one getting impatient. As I see all my other sisters staring at me to get Project Day started. So, with no other choice, I grabbed a clipboard, paper, pen, and started to organize.
