Little Giorgio squirmed as he awoke. He wanted to go back to sleep, but he felt the call of nature. He knew his dad, or worse, his mom would kill him for sneaking late at night, so he did his best to be quiet. After relieving himself, he decided not to flush and alert anyone, then crept down the hall. He stopped when he heard voices coming from his father's office. One voice he recognized as his father, the other, a baritone voice. Carefully, he pressed his ear to the door.

"You've said I'm a part of the Joestar family, just like you, yes," he heard his father say. "Then you must know my father? Here, I have a photo of him. We never met, but..."

"Hmm, to keep a photo of DIO Brando in your wallet," said the man with the baritone voice. "He must mean something to you." Dio Brando? His grandfather? Neither he nor his father knew anything about him, other than his name.

"You do know about him," confirmed his father. "Please, tell me more about him."

For a while, the man was silent. Then he said, "I killed him, you know."

"Jotaro, go easy on the kid. He isn't like DIO at all." Giorgio recognized that voice. Signor Polnareff was there too?

"Why did you kill him," his father demanded.

"He was my enemy," said Jotaro.

"You're here to kill me too? I don't even know you. And if you even think about going after my son..."

"A son?" Jotaro sounded genuinely surprised. "No. You're not my enemy...currently."

"Are you MY enemy, then?"

"I can't decide that for you. But I'd say think very carefully about who you antagonize, for your kid's sake."

Suddenly, Giorgio felt the atmosphere change. He felt this before. His father summoned his Stand, Gold Experience Requiem. "Do you know what happened to the last person who threatened my life? He's suffering a fate worse than death. No Stand in existence can oppose me in battle, so I suggest you refrain from empty threats, Dr. Kujo."

"It seems my knowledge about your Stand is a bit outdated," said Jotaro with no fear. "I could easily die. But, I I can still put up a good fight. I stopped my heart twenty years ago fighting your father. In a sense, I've already died. There is little left for me to fear."

Suddenly, Giorgio let out a scream as he felt a hand grab his shoulder. "Giorgio Giovanna, cosa fai fuori dal letto?!" He paled when he heard his mother's voice. Then suddenly, the door swung open and out stepped his father, Giorno.

"Giorgio..." Giorno said as he dismissed Gold Experience Requiem.

"V-Volevo solo andare in bagno," whimpered Giorgio. He tilted his head and saw the man his father was talking to. He was of Japanese descent, tall, muscular, and with black messy hair, greenish eyes and wearing a visored, ornamented cap, torn at the back and blending with his hair, and a roughly mid-calf-length coat with a standing collar and chains attached.

The man, Jotaro, exhaled and said, "Yare yare daze."

"I'm sorry," said Erika. "I'll take him to bed."

"Wait." Joataro knelt before the boy, who hid behind his mother's legs. "Do you have a Stand? Like your dad?" Giorgio slowly nodded. "Let's see it."

"Are you trying to pick a fight with him," growled the boy's mother.

"Erika," said Polnareff, as he sat on the table in the office. "He knows better than to hurt a child. Trust me, I know from experience."

"Still can't believe you're a turtle now," muttered Jotaro. "That explains why you hadn't made contact with us for so long." He spoke to Giorgio again, "Come on, kid, show me your Stand." Giorgio shook his head. "Yare yare daze. How about I show you mine first? Star Platinum." Jotaro's famous Stand appeared behind him. It looked like a jinn with long, flowing hair with a darker shade above its eyes and on the bridge of its nose, blurring the distinction between its hair and head. The spaces under its eyes and on its cheeks and chin were a darker color and divided clearly from the space around its nose and mouth. It wore a cap on its chin, and a metallic headband in three pieces; the central piece of which was shaped as a vertical ellipse, a short, circular scarf, shoulder pads with a spiral design, long gloves with studs on the back, knee and elbow guards, a loincloth, and short boots.

Giorgio stared at the man's Stand, wide eyed. "There, I showed it," said Jotaro. "Now show me yours or I'll make you." Giorgio squeaked, then summoned his Stand. It was vaguely humanoid in shape, white with a golden ladybird beetle on its chest and it had a dark dome on its head so you couldn't see its face, save for a pair of glowing yellow eyes. "Hmm...what can it do?"

"From what we've seen, it has the power to control the five senses," said Giorno.

"Giorno, who is this man," asked Erika.

"He claims he's my cousin, Jotaro Kujo."

"Cousin," asked Giorgio.

"It's a long story," said Jotaro as he stepped back in the office and sat on a chair. "I'd like to tell it. It might take a while, so you might want to get some snacks."

"That's quite a story, Dr. Kujo," said Erika. "This is...a lot to take in."

Dio Brando was born in Victoria era England. The son of an abusive drunkard, he was adopted into the Joestar family and he plotted to take the family fortune for himself by making his adopted brother Jonathan Joestar look inferior in comparison, while at the same time, poisoning Jonathan's father, George. When that plan failed, thanks in part to Jonathan's friend Robert E. O. Speedwagon, Dio decided to go with Plan B: use a stone mask to turn himself into a vampire and take over the world.

Jonathan fought through Dio's army of zombies, and lost a lot of friends on the way, including his mentor Baron Zeppeli, but he managed to reach the vampire and destroyed his body. But not his head. One of Dio's minions found him and cornered Jonathan and his wife Erina on a passenger ship to America. Dio fatally wounded Jonathan, but he managed to subdue him long enough for Erina to escape.

Everyone thought that was the end of it, but a hundred years later, DIO, as he now called himself, replaced Jonathan's head with his own, stole his body and rose from the depths of the ocean after a group of treasure hunters found his coffin. He took up residence in Egypt, where he met a witch named Enya who gave him his Stand, The World, which had the power to stop time for a few seconds. However, because his body was Jonathan Joestar's this had an adverse effect on his descendants.

All of Jonathan's descendants gained the power of a Stand, including Jotaro's mother, Holy. However, because her body was not compatible, the Stand was slowly killing her instead of enhancing her. The only way to stop it was to kill DIO. Jotaro and his grandfather Joseph Joestar traveled all the way to Egypt to kill him, battling the vampire's Stand user minions along the way. They succeeded, but lost three of their friends in the process. With DIO's death, Holy's Stand went dormant.

"I can vouch for him," said Polnareff as he sat on a table. "I was there with Mr. Joestar and Jotaro back when I was a man. I'll never forget those we lost. Avdol, Kakyoin, Iggy..."

"But their deaths weren't in vain," said Jotaro. "I managed to kill him."

"But not before he conceived me," said Giorno. "Using Jonathan's body." His hands were trembling.

"So, grandpa was a bad guy," asked Giorgio. "And you killed him?"

"Yeah," said Jotaro. "Keep in mind, outside of personal experience, most of what I know comes from my grandfather and the Speedwagon Foundation. Hopefully that provides some context, and you can understand why I did-"

"It's fine," said Giorno. "I feel sorry for him, and I know what he went through, but it doesn't excuse him for what he did. I don't want any part of that."

"But you did inherit some of his traits," said Jotaro. "I mean, Mafia boss at fifteen? Hardly conventional. You've inherited his ambition and charisma, as well as some of his ruthless and brutal nature for sure."

"Passione was selling illegal drugs to children and I couldn't have that," said Giorno. "I wanted to take over the Mafia to change it. That's why I had to-"

"I get that, but it's hard to believe that personal ambitions played no part in that. Didn't you and your friends kill Passione's hitman team because they got in your way?"

"They tried to take Trish and we were tasked with her protection. If we hadn't killed them, they would have killed us. We had to-"

"Because they got in your way. They wanted to get close to the Boss like you did by using Trish Una, right?"

"Yeah, but it turned out to be a ploy," said Erika. "Diavolo only wanted her delivered to him so he could kill her himself and keep his identity secret. Quel maniaco paranoico."

"But your husband didn't know that at the time, didn't he," Jotaro countered.

"You're no different Dr. Kujo," snapped Giorno. "You don't have any moral ground here."

"I never said I was. But I didn't have a choice. My mother's life was on the line. I had nothing to gain and everything to lose. I mostly beat them up until they were out of commission and they couldn't come after us anymore. If they died, it was unfortunate." Jotaro noticed the troubled look on Giorno and Erika's faces and saw Giorno's look of distress. "I did say in SOME ways. You told me you didn't like the drug trade, so you targeted Diavolo, right?

"He does have a point," said Erika. "You did kill Polpo because his Stand killed an innocent old man without him knowing it, and even if he did, he wouldn't have cared. And let's not forget what you did to Cioccolata when he tried to turn all of Rome's populace into mold-covered mush just to get to you and your friends."

"And you did all you could to protect your friends and those around you, and I find that quite admirable. Koichi told me you are reasonable and Joestar-like. I trust his judgement, and I agree. I don't know Jonathan personally, but I've heard stories about him, and I feel like there's some of his demeanor in you. You have a good heart, Giorno Giovanna. I hope you learn to cultivate it, and grow into a true gentleman like Jonathan.

"I'm glad that despite your troubled upbringing, unlike DIO, you did not become twisted and immoral. Because then I..." Jotaro paused when he saw Giorgio staring up at him. "...would have done something about it. And, speaking as a parent, I don't want to separate a kid from his father." Jotaro looked at Giorgio again and said, "And the way you raise your kid is a testament to how good of a person you are. Despite the fact that he's practically the spitting image of DIO, my gut's telling me he doesn't have a bad bone in his body."

"When he gets older he might," said Erika. "Don't worry, we'll try to reign him in. RIGHT?" Giorgio squeaked when she bared her teeth at her.

Jotaro stood up and said, "It's rather late. And I think you'll have a lot on your mind to think about. So I think we can call it a night-"

"Jotaro, thank you," said Giorno with a warm smile. "It's nice to know more about the family I didn't know."

Jotaro nodded with a small smile. "You're welcome."

"Are there others," asked Giorgio. "Do I have any other Joestar family members besides you and Dad?"

"Giorgio, it's late," said Giorno. "You should be in bed."

Jotaro sat back down and said, "I do have time for one story. Let me tell you about Josuke Higashikata."
