Worlds Collide: Triple Trouble

Big Trouble in Shang Mu Part 3

The abandoned base was dark and eerily quiet as Rouge, Omega, and Shadow made their way through the crumbling corridors. Dust lingered in the air, and the walls, covered in rust and grime, bore the weight of long-forgotten battles. Rouge glanced over at Shadow, her voice filled with curiosity.

"Why are we even bothering with this rundown place?" she asked, her eyes scanning the surroundings.

Shadow's expression remained stoic as he replied. "This was once a G.U.N. facility, shut down when Eggman took over. Inside, there's a vault—a highly secure one that's off the records, except to me. I hid a Chaos Emerald here because the base was abandoned, but something or someone tripped my security system."

Omega, ever eager for combat, chimed in loudly, his mechanical voice booming. "I HOPE IT IS EGGMAN'S FORCES. I WISH TO DESTROY THEM."

Ignoring Omega's enthusiasm, the trio pressed on through the base until they reached the hangar, where strange noises echoed from within. Shadow silently motioned to Omega and gave him a countdown. At the signal, Shadow and Omega burst into the hangar, weapons at the ready, fully prepared for a fight.

"CEASEFIRE!" a voice called out, stopping them both in their tracks.

The lights flickered on, and standing in the center of the hangar was a woman—a wildcat who bore a striking resemblance to Carol, though she was older. She stood warily, her eyes shifting between them as they assessed each other.

Rouge, ever the smooth talker, stepped forward, taking the lead. "You must be Corazon Tea," she said calmly.

The wildcat narrowed her eyes but eventually nodded. "Yeah, that's me," she replied cautiously. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

Shadow, never one to mince words, responded first. "The Resistance put out a notice to find you."

Corazon's expression shifted to one of confusion. "The Resistance? What Resistance?"

Omega, ever blunt, added, "SHE SEEMS TO BE RESISTING. PERMISSION TO DESTROY HER?"

Rouge rolled her eyes and shot Omega a sharp look. "Cool it, Omega."

She turned back to Corazon, explaining the situation. "Since the incident with the world merger, the Magister of Shang Tu has been concerned about certain individuals and wanted to bring them into the combined forces."

At the mention of the Magister, Corazon grimaced. She had no love for the Magister. Before she could reply, Shadow interjected, his voice calm and serious. "Right now, we're facing someone just as bad as Brevon."

The moment Brevon's name was mentioned, Corazon's demeanor changed. Her eyes sharpened with a dangerous intensity. Memories of her conversations with Carol about her and her friends' previous adventures came rushing back. The idea that her baby sister had gone up against not one but two monsters sent a chill down her spine. She had promised herself that she would do anything to protect her family from such horrors.

Corazon sighed, her resolve hardening. "I'll work with you—but only if I can work with you specifically." She eyed Shadow carefully, making it clear she still didn't trust the Magister but was willing to compromise for the sake of her sister's safety.

Without hesitation, Shadow nodded in agreement. "Fine by me."

Rouge blinked, surprised at Shadow's quick decision, and Omega's gears whirred in confusion. "I DO NOT UNDERSTAND," Omega boomed.

Shadow, ignoring the confusion around him, added, "We're also here for something important—an object that was hidden in this base. We believe it's still in the vault."

Corazon's expression brightened with a grin, and she casually pulled something from her satchel. "You mean this?" she asked, holding up the Green Chaos Emerald, its glow illuminating the room.

Shadow raised an eyebrow, impressed. "You got past my security?"

Corazon chuckled, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I used to be a sky pirate. Looting chests is kind of my thing."

The next day, Sonic and Lilac sat across from each other in the command center, awkwardly eating breakfast. Both were unusually quiet, trying to process the events of the previous night. Following Fark and Jewel's advice, they had attempted to sleep in the same bed to keep up appearances for anyone who might be watching. There was just one problem—they enjoyed it far more than either of them expected.

For Sonic, it was a strange experience. He was usually always on the move, never one to settle down, but the simple act of slowing down and enjoying the warmth of another person had left him thinking. He'd never realized how much comfort he could find in something as simple as this.

For Lilac, it was something entirely new. She had never been close to a male before, and Sonic exuded a sense of warmth and safety that she'd never felt in her life. Her adventurous spirit had always kept her moving, but being close to someone like this made her feel safe—something she didn't know she'd been missing.

Neither of them wanted to admit it, but the thought of sharing that kind of moment again lingered in both their minds.

The awkward silence stretched on until they were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Two familiar faces to Sonic entered the command center: Barry the Quokka and Vanilla the Rabbit.

Sonic smirked and greeted them. "Barry! Vanilla! What brings you here?"

Lilac, curious, turned to Sonic. "Who are they?"

Sonic quickly introduced them. "Barry helped out on a mystery a while back," he explained, purposefully omitting the part where that mystery was his own murder. "And Vanilla is Cream's mom."

Vanilla smiled warmly, giving off the comforting aura that made her feel like everyone's mom. "It's lovely to meet you," she said softly.

Sonic raised an eyebrow at the two of them. "So, what are you doing here?"

Barry, with his usual laid-back charm, shrugged. "I'll be working mission control in place of Miss Jewel. Got the call earlier."

Vanilla followed up with a kind smile. "Amy asked me to help with the contest."

Lilac couldn't help but smile at the two newcomers. Barry seemed like an upstanding, dependable guy, while Vanilla just radiated a motherly presence. It made her feel comfortable.

Sonic, ever practical, glanced at Barry. "Alright, so what's the plan for today?"

Barry checked his notes, a mischievous grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Well, you two need to get fitted for formal wear. Apparently, several events during the contest require it."

Sonic visibly paled at the thought of wearing formal clothes, but before he could protest, Lilac nudged him gently and gave him a soft, encouraging look. Sonic glanced back at her, and with a reluctant sigh, gave in. "Fine… where do we need to go for this?"

Vanilla giggled softly. "You two are falling into your roles quite nicely," she teased, causing both Lilac and Sonic to blush deeply.

Sonic and Lilac exchanged awkward glances, unsure if their "act" was still an act at this point. The line between pretending and reality had blurred, but neither of them dared admit it to the other.

Barry, sensing the tension, chuckled and broke the silence. "Alright, lovebirds, finish up your breakfast. We're meeting a friend of Amy's to help with your formal wear."

Sonic raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued, but said nothing as he and Lilac quickly finished their meals.

A short while later, Barry, Vanilla, Sonic, and Lilac headed toward another part of Shang Mu in a private car, with Barry driving. The vehicle hummed quietly as they traveled through the city.

Sonic, tapping his foot impatiently, finally spoke up. "So, uh… why aren't we just running?"

Barry glanced in the rearview mirror, smirking. "You two are a little too high profile for that right now. Amy's friend is meeting us in private, so it's a safety thing."

Sonic grumbled, clearly unhappy about not being able to stretch his legs. "Running's kinda my thing."

Lilac smiled softly and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll stretch our legs later," she reassured him.

A short drive later, Barry pulled into a quiet factory on the outskirts of the city and parked the car. As they stepped out, a voice called out from across the room.

"Well, well, well! I can't believe those rumors were actually true," the voice teased.

Everyone turned to see a figure approaching—Honey the Cat.

Sonic's face broke into a grin. "Honey! Good to see you again."

Honey grinned back, waving. "It's good to see you too, Sonic."

Lilac, who was most definitely not feeling a little jealous (or so she told herself), tried to mask her curiosity. "Who is she?" she asked Barry, her tone casual but curious.

Barry explained, "That's Honey the Cat—Earth's top fashionista and, uh, possibly one of the strongest hand-to-hand fighters on the planet."

Lilac's eyes widened in surprise.

Honey smiled and crossed her arms. "I'm a firm believer in hard work and doing things for yourself. A long time ago, I entered a fighting tournament to promote my clothing line. Ended up winning, too."

Sonic nodded in agreement. "She's tough—both in the ring and in the fashion department."

Honey looked genuinely surprised. "You kept up with my work?"

Sonic sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "Mostly Amy, but yeah, I like hearing about what my friends are up to."

Honey smiled warmly before her eyes shifted to Sonic and Lilac. She walked around them slowly, sizing them up, before stepping back with a playful smirk. "I'm surprised you two haven't kissed yet."

Both Sonic and Lilac immediately turned bright red, stammering out complaints in unison. "We're not—what? No way!" Sonic sputtered, while Lilac shook her head, trying to regain her composure.

Honey giggled at their reactions. "Relax, I'm just messing with you."

After a brief pause, Honey's tone turned more professional. "Now, enough teasing. You two need to relax, because I'm making you outfits that'll be formal, but also 100% combat-ready. You'll look sharp and be ready to fight if things go sideways."

Sonic raised an eyebrow, slightly concerned. "You, uh… expecting us to fight?"

Honey gave him a deadpan look. "It's you, Sonic. Of course, there's going to be fighting."

In the dark, metallic chambers of Eggman's latest stronghold, Clutch and Spade stood before the doctor as he laid out his plan. Eggman's expression was one of satisfaction, clearly pleased with what he was about to unveil.

"I need you to enter the tournament, Spade," Eggman began, his voice dripping with authority.

Spade folded his arms, nodding but showing slight hesitation. "I can enter, but there's a problem. I need a female partner from your world to qualify. It's one of the tournament's rules."

Eggman's smile widened, as if anticipating this issue. "Ah, I've already thought of that." He motioned toward a shadowy corner of the room. Emerging from the darkness was a stunning orange-furred female cat Mobian, dressed in an elegant magician's outfit. Her eyes gleamed a captivating blue for a moment before shifting to an eerie black and red.

The mysterious cat offered a sly smile and introduced herself with a graceful bow. "You may call me Mirage the Mystic."

Spade raised an eyebrow, intrigued. But before he could ask any questions, Eggman stepped forward, proudly explaining. "I've taken the Metal Virus further—far beyond its original purpose. Some of my more powerful robots can now assume Mobian identities, blending in until needed."

With a theatrical flourish, Mirage removed her top hat, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "This form speaks to me much more, no offense to you, Lord Eggman," she said, her voice soft but confident.

Eggman waved her off dismissively, clearly unfazed. "None taken. As long as you serve me, I don't care what form you take."

Spade, eyeing the situation with a mixture of curiosity and amusement, commented, "I have to say, Doctor, you're surprisingly… progressive for a villain."

Eggman shot Spade a glance and grinned. "I'm an evil genius, Spade—not a monster. If Mirage here serves my purposes, that's all that matters."

Mirage giggled softly at Eggman's words, her playful yet dangerous aura filling the room. She was the embodiment of elegance and menace rolled into one.

Clutch watched the exchange between Eggman and Spade with a sly grin on his face. With a brief glance at Mirage, he turned to Spade, his voice smooth and confident. "Well, it looks like you have your partner now. I expect results."

Eggman chuckled darkly, leaning back in his seat, his fingers tapping together thoughtfully. "Oh, Clutch, I don't expect them to win," he replied, his voice laced with amusement. "The purpose isn't victory—it's distraction. As long as all eyes are on the contest, our real plans can continue… unimpeded."

Mirage grinned, her black-and-red eyes flashing mischievously, while Spade merely nodded, understanding the deeper game Eggman was playing.

Clutch, satisfied with the answer, gave a slight bow. "As long as the operation runs smoothly, I have no complaints."

Eggman's smile widened. "Oh, it will, Clutch. Trust me—it will."

Back at the Resistance Base, Fark and Jewel stood in the command room alongside Amy, Whisper, and Tangle. Amy, taking the lead, explained the situation with Fark's true form.

"Fark's true form needs a large amount of electricity," Amy began, addressing Whisper. "That's why we wanted to ask if you could talk to some of the Laser Wisps and see if they'd be willing to help."

Tangle, ever curious, leaned in. "So, what does your real form look like, Fark?"

Fark shrugged casually. "It's pretty much the same as this form, except, you know… flesh instead of metal."

Whisper, ever cautious, frowned slightly. She wasn't sure about asking the Wisps to help in such a way, but she understood that the Resistance needed all its allies to be at peak strength. After a moment's thought, she sighed and turned to the Wisps floating around the base.

"Can you help him?" Whisper asked, her voice gentle yet firm.

One of the Laser Wisps floated forward, glowing brightly, and spoke in Wisp language. Whisper translated, "They said they wouldn't mind helping."

Fark nodded, feeling a sense of readiness. "What now?" he asked, unsure of the process.

Without warning, the Laser Wisp glowed even brighter, shouting its signature call, "Laser!" It shot straight into Fark's body, causing him to grunt and drop to one knee, momentarily overwhelmed by the surge of power.

Jewel rushed forward, concerned in her eyes. "Are you okay?"

Fark grunted but nodded, slowly rising to his feet. "I'm fine. I can feel it—energy flowing through me."

His entire body began to glow, the mechanical parts of his frame shimmering before fading away. Within moments, Fark stood before them in his true Formie form, glowing with a radiant energy. He looked strikingly similar to Super Sonic, much to the surprise of those who had seen Sonic in that form before. His eyes were green with red irises, and a blue star adorned the left side of his waist. A long scarf flowed behind him, and two antennae with green orbs at the tips extended from his head.

Tangle stared wide-eyed. "Whoa… that's… really cool."

Fark smirked, glancing around at the group. "Thanks for helping me get back to this form. Now, I'm ready to get to work."

Amy smiled, impressed by the transformation. "Do you need a transport back to Shang Mu?"

Fark shook his head, a confident grin on his face. "Nah. I can get there myself."

He turned to Jewel, his tone softening. "Take care of yourself, alright?" he said, showing his concern for her well-being.

Jewel blinked, a little taken aback by the sincerity, before nodding. "I will. Thank you."

With that, Fark blurred out of the room, moving at speeds that rivaled Sonic, leaving a stunned silence in his wake.

Jewel stood there, watching him go, a small blush creeping onto her cheeks at the concern Fark had shown. Tangle, ever the tease, nudged her friend playfully. "Ooooh, looks like someone has a little crush."

Jewel's face turned even redder as she stammered a weak protest. "T-Tangle, stop!"

Whisper, still watching where Fark had just been, turned to Amy. "Do you think we did the right thing?"

Amy, thoughtful but confident, nodded. "I understand your concerns, Whisper. But Fark hasn't shown any hostility toward us. In fact, he's actively working with us. I think we can trust him."

Whisper frowned slightly, though she nodded in agreement. "I hope you're right. He just… reminds me of Mimic."
