Adam held Janey's hand and even though she was crying on his shoulder, Adam's tears felt just as heavy in his tear ducks. As they watched as their brother being lowered into his grave, neither could speak or think, just cry.
Adam had been across the country working a dig sites all over while he was working on his thesis to prove alien life on earth.
It now felt partly redundant as there were two aliens in the Justice League and he didn't spend as much time as he should've with his baby brother.
Janey made sure to keep in touch with both of her brother but she could spend time with Todd, since they were both in their hometown, Bloomington, Minneapolis.
The circumstances of Todd's death were very suspicious but had gotten word from the authorities that he died protecting other civilians as well.
Janey didn't want Adam to be on the road just yet so she did what she always did when they were kids, tied a white ribbon in the shape of an 'x' on Adam's chest.
The ribbon clashed greatly against Adam's black suit, but it was helped by Adam's crimson shirt.
Adam and Janey have had a unique experience while being adults, when all three siblings were over eighteen, they lost their parents almost at the same time. They forged a certain bond of the three.
Adam would always make sure to be home for every holiday and Todd promised never to start a fight in the street too. Janey usually had a different boyfriend but that was only because Janey was saving herself for marriage.
As Adam and Janey were packing up after the wake, Janey asked Adam about his eulogy.
"Did you mean what you said?" Janey turns around while holding dishes.
"When?" Adam was almost confused as to whether he spoke at all today.
"About the whole 'Totality' thing?" she sits down, no one is around.
"The quality or state of being whole" Adam almost speaks to himself, Janey listens. "I've got one more dig to go to."
"And after that? Mom and Dad wanted you to settle down."
"I don't know if I can just stop."
"Why continue?"
Silence.
"Fair enough, I'll look at getting a place when I come back."
Janey left the conversation at that, since it wasn't the first time he said that. But it was the first time he ever took off the white ribbon, so he must've meant it.
