Sardath and Adam spent the next couple of days conversing in a mix between Rannian and English, learning from one another and teaching one another.

Adam gets used to Rannian culture and goes with Sardath everyday on walks across the city, Meerlon. Meerlon was a city Sardath had helped build since it's inception.

Since Rann had long since eradicated their internal borders like subcontinents and countries, Meerlon was a particularly large city by earth standards. Bann was about the size one of America's bigger states.

Sardath and Adam eventually went to Ranagar, the world's capital.

Being the hub that Ranagar was, it dealt with a lot of intergalactic faces on a regular basis. One such face was on the planet to strike a new renewable energy deal with Rann.

Adam asked Sardath why he didn't deal with some of the issues even though retired, to which Sardath explained on Rann is done slightly different. When everyone's children become of age, they take over the business regardless of whether their ready or not. This urges the children to listen to their parents and urges the parents to strive for progress before having kids.

While strolling, Sardath decided they should go and visit Alanna while she hosted a dignitary here on the new deal.

Sardath, Adam and Sardath's bodyguard, Vath Sarn walk into Alanna's personal office while she speaks to the dignitary.

"Who are these people?" asked the dignitary, slightly offended.

"Do not fear Prince Ragnar," Alanna waves a hand in their direction "that is my father and his party. They will always be allowed into my private sessions."

"That's nothing like my world." remarks the prince.

'Also not on my world' thinks Adam.

"Their presence does not change the deal, Alanna." says the Prince with a lot more gusto.

"So for our planets to work together, you'd have to marry the smartest person on the planet," Alanna puts a hand on her hip "which just so happens to be me."

Adam turns to Sardath surprised, Sardath waves away the gesture; then says under his breath 'I'm the smartest on this planet by far.'

This goes back and forth between Alanna and Prince Ragnar for what seems like hours, it was actually an entire day, but Rannians on have sunset when they conclude their business days.

Alanna brings up the Rannian culture to only wed the opposite sex who is skilled in two fundamental skills and who is actually intelligent. Prince Ragnar keeps bringing up that royalty is essentially good at everything or above everything.

Halfway through the conversation, Adam thinks back to his last Christmas dinner with his siblings where his sister would judge his brother on a fortnight girlfriend.

Prince Ragnar asks why she is resistant since she is single and Alanna advises that dating or counting royalty is not the Rannian way, as having a partner of only two skills is more humble than a partner that thinks they can do everything.

Halfway through this debate, Adam finally says something.

"Hey man, she's just not into you."

Everyone turns to Adam, Alanna more angry than the rest. And it shows in her eyes.

"Do you speak for Alanna, Terran?" the Prince asks upset.

Vath folds his arms quite upset now.

"No, obviously not but clearly she doesn't want to be with you just for an oil deal, Sir."

"Then the deal is off." the Prince calls out and storms out of the office.

Adam turns to Alanna, who can't face him and also storms out of the office. As it is only Sardath, Vath and Adam in the office, Rann finally has sunset.

As Adam turns to Sardath, Vath crosses the room and smacks Adam hard across the cheek.

"Now we're at war with the Betrassians, Terran." Vath says fuming.
