A/N: Hey hey, welcome back. Happy Odaiba Day everyone! I've put together some mini-stories. I'll be trying to write them in a proper format instead of script format. I always knew script format did not look as nice but I still kept using it cos it was easier for me. Anyways, I'll be writing these in a normal format and based on how it goes, it will decide the format for the Tri sequel. Anyways, enjoy!
Extra Chapter: An Important Discussion
Timeline: After Chapter 22, before Chapter 27
It was a weekend, and the Digidestined had opted to rest for that weekend. There weren't many dark towers left to take down and there was no trace of Archnemon.
Takeru and Hikari were relaxing in Hikari's apartment. Takeru was lying down with his head on Hikari's lap. The two were using their phones.
"Hey." Takeru moved his phone away.
"What's up, Keru?" Hikari also moved her phone away.
"Just wondering about Onii-Chan's gig. We said we would announce this whole relationship but we never really thought of a good way, did we?"
"Hmm… that's a good point…" Hikari looked deep in thought.
"Yeah. It's not like in Paris where I could just like kiss you or something. Here, we need to be mindful." Takeru began to sit up.
The two started to think as Taichi came out from the kitchen.
"You two could just do something that isn't obvious. Like maybe… being closer than normal friends should be?" Taichi set down a few plates and sat down, motioning to the two to come over.
"Actually…" Takeru looked to Hikari.
"That works quite well, thanks Onii-Chan." Hikari had a smile on her face.
The two called for their partners and all of them began to eat after thanking Taichi for the food.
"Mmm, this is good, Onii-Chan." Hikari said with a happy smile on her face.
"Agreed, did the Kaiser let you cook while you were held captive? You improved a lot since the last time you cooked for us." Tailmon had a cheeky grin on her face.
"Actually… he did… he gave me a lot of freedom…"
The group of six continued to eat, with their conversation turning into Taichi listening as Takeru and Hikari started to talk about their past year to him. When they finished, Taichi went to wash the plates, leaving Takeru and Hikari alone again. They sat down on the couch.
"Do you believe in fate, Hika?"
Hikari turned to Takeru and had a puzzled look.
"Where is this coming from?" Hikari's tone had a hint of confusion and hesitance.
"Well, it's just… I've been thinking about what would have happened if the Digital World didn't exist. Would the two of us ever meet? Would we have ever met each other?" Takeru didn't want to look at Hikari as he spoke.
Hikari shifted closer to Takeru and hugged him tightly.
"We're only twelve, Takeru… you don't need to think of such serious things. Plus, it's no use pondering on these 'what ifs?' the two of us are together now and that's all that matters. The love we have for each other isn't because we were destined to love each other."
Takeru wrapped his arms around Hikari as she continued to speak.
"Keru, even if we were destined to meet each other as Digidestined, our love for each other isn't something like destiny."
Takeru looked up to Hikari and had a small smile.
"You're right. Maybe in some other universe, we do meet each other as Digidestined but we don't love each other as much as we do."
Hikari smiled and playfully flicked Takeru's forehead.
"There you go, off with your writer fantasies again."
"Well, if I want to commit to it, I better start early."
Takeru and Hikari smiled at each other as they slowly inched closer to each other. Taichi came back and sighed.
"Get a room, you two."
Hikari pouted and threw a couch cushion at Taichi.
Taichi caught it and laughed.
"Sorry, sorry. I'll let you two be." Taichi threw the cushion back and began to walk to his room.
As Taichi closed the door to his room, Takeru and Hikari looked to each other and smiled. Hikari lay her head on Takeru's shoulder as he turned on the television for them to watch.
It didn't matter if it was destiny that they met, loved each other or became Digidestined. The two were content with just being who they were, knowing they held a special place in the other's heart.
Well, these extra chapters generally won't be super super long. They usually can't fit into the fanfic cos it would disrupt story flow and things like that.
