Sorry for the late update, trying to figure out my writing style may shift a few times in the story. I will try to keep it the same per chapter.
The next day is the first day of classes so of course every first year was a little bit nervous for the day to come. Azalea was especially nervous because she has never been in class with classmates close to her age. Lea woke up early and had some trouble sleeping in a new place, though the bed was very comfortable. She goes about her morning routine and then reads some of the books her grandpa had written for her about his story and the story of his loved ones from when he was young. The story has not progressed that far yet, no magic Morgana is so sweet and kind to her clumsy grandfather.
When she next looks up it is time to head to the Great Hall for breakfast and to get the schedules. As she walks out to the common room she realizes she might be a bit early because none of the first years are out of their rooms yet. Though she doesn't mind since she is used to having to talk to adults and older students in a learning environment.
As she is about to talk to someone new the Axe of Hufflepuff catches her eye once more and she can't help but to walk closer to get a better look at it.
"Are you ready for the first day?" This came from a voice she has yet to learn the name of. As she turned around she noticed a girl with a kind smile and warm brown hair that seemed to shimmer in the early morning light coming from the windows above their head.
"Yes, though I have yet to get your name, so I can not quite finish the proper sentence. I am Azalea Wyllt. Nice to meet you."
"And I am Hannah Abbott, the pleasure is all mine you seem up early this morning." As Hannah says this she starts walking like she is expecting the younger girl to start walking with her.
"I am headed to the Great Hall now. Would you like to come with me, I got lost on my first day last year trying to head to the Great Hall by myself."
"Sure," Azalea said, not wanting to be rude, since she was able to memorize the way back to the Great Hall because of her eidetic memory.
When they arrived in the Great Hall only a few people were there. A few older Ravenclaws with their books out and reading as they eat. Slytherins that look like they were discussing something important and were on the edge closest to the door. They look like they are discussing something very serious and have what look like Lockheats books out and quills circling things and making some interesting faces. A Gryffindor with red hair glasses and freckles all over his face reading the newspaper and what looks like the financial section that the goblins post about the stocks in both the muggle and magical world. Lastly there are a few Hufflepuffs sitting at their table discussing something like the Sytherins but the Hufflepuffs had a smile on their faces and only one piece of paper in front of them.
As she and Hannah sit down Professor Sprout walks up to them to hand them their schedules.
"Good Morning girls, Hannah here is your schedule and what is your name dear?" Sprout said as she handed Hannah hers.
"I am Azalea, but you can call me Lea. You as well Hannah I forgot to tell you earlier." After she finished telling Professor Sprout her name she went searching for her schedule in her hands. When she handed it to her she just smiled and moved on as some more of the older students started to walk into the Great Hall.

After looking at her schedule and glancing back up she saw that the food for breakfast had been served. Not really the things her parents or grandpa ate but I guess she would just have to live with the things in front of her since she was in Scotland and not at home. While she ate she was not really paying attention to the conversation around her, this is normal for a first year to not really speak on the first day of classes. Since today was a Wednesday she was worried about DADA, not really flying since she wasn't afraid of heights and her grandpa taught her how to fly over the summer while she stayed in the castle. No, the class with the Professor whose books made no sense and the books overlapped with one another and spells that don't even exist. That class made her nervous since she knew more about the author of the books than she did the subject that he was supposed to be teaching her.
Classes go as well as she ever expected them to go. Still worried when Thursday rolls around because all they did on the first day of DADA was do a stupid quiz that only had questions about himself and nothing else. She of course got 100% that does mean she enjoyed not learning anything new about the subject he was supposed to be learning.
During her Free Hour on Thursday she decided to talk to her head of house about this nonsense since today was no better and History of Magic was dull and boring, though the true true history of magic is anything but boring.
"Professor Sprout, can I talk to you for a moment?" she asked after arriving at the green houses.
"Of course, what is it dear," Sprout said with a kind smile, hoping that this child is not having any problems with any of the other students. Especially the Gryffindors since they view the Hufflepuffs as weak, and dumb though every other house knows to be false. Well lets just say someone really likes the separation between the houses and it is not any of the current teachers or students.
"Professor Lockhearts books don't make any sense and the quiz he had us take to see if we actually read the books was just questions about himself. The books also don't have any real spells in them other than some made up ones that don't actually work. My Grandpa is a very powerful wizard and knows a thing or two about spells and when I showed him the books and the spells he tried them and they did nothing." As the words came out of Lea's mouth they would not stop, she continued talking quoting the books and other resources that she read in the library with the page number and paragraph they were on.
This shocked Professor Sprout more than Lockheart being a fraud since the teachers already knew after their first interaction with him. Lea had yet to stop speaking even after several minutes. That Professor Sprout had to interrupt her.
"Thank you Lea for bringing this to my attention. I will have a chat with the other teachers this weekend about this." After Professor Sprout said this Lea calmed down from a budding anxiety attack that was about to happen.
Lea decided to go to the Library after her chat with Professor Sprout since it was only 4pm and she had 2 hours till she was able to go to dinner.
At the Library Lea grabs a few books mainly about the history of her grandpa and maybe to see if they compare to the other books that her grandpa wrote about the history of his life. When she goes to find a seat to sit at, she seems to not find anyone in her year at the Library so she goes to the girl that she met on the train.
"Hi Hermione right, do you mind if I sit with you?" Lea says when she arrives at the table that is over by a window with a view of one of the courtyard that Hogwarts has.
"Of course, if you don't mind the many books I have. Though with as many as you have it really shouldn't be an issue. I am just researching about the wixen holidays, did you know that the gender neutral term for a witch or wizard was wixen. I had no idea until I started researching the holidays. Sorry I will sometimes just start talking without even realizing it." Hermione said with a sheepish grin as if feeling a little guilty for talking that much.
"I do the same thing sometimes, I just start talking without even realizing that the change in topic is rude. I also don't mind the book thing since I will probably have just as many books if not more than what is in front of us right now." Lea said with a reassuring smile on her face.
"I was only able to find this many and it took some hunting on my part since I could not find the books anywhere. I finally just asked Madam Pince where the books were located. Apparently the books don't exist in the Library any more and these are from her private stash just in case one of us wants to do a bit more research than, well she just said 'someone' in a really weird voice. Well anyways I am going to go back to reading this. It is just so interesting." Hermione finished saying, though Lea really could not be mad at her and just continued to smile.
A few hours later they were headed to the Great Hall for dinner and she couldn't help but think of all the books that she looked at and none of them were correct, let alone unbiased toward the 'light' side of magic. It was all so confusing since her grandpa taught her something entirely different. She wonders why it is the way it is.
What she doesn't know is that she has caused a stir with the teachers since they had no idea that anyone could be that smart. Since Professor Sprout already talked to the other Professor in the lounge before coming down to dinner though it was only a short conversation.
On Friday during her free hour directly after potions she decides to talk to Professor Snape for some advice on how to communicate with children close to her age because he is the only one that not only knows about her age but her eidetic memory.
His advice was not very helpful though he did give a reason to why since when he was her age he only had one friend and did not really get along with anyone else. Though he was kind to his Hufflebuddy and they even still talk to one another to this day.
A little confused about what a Hufflebuddy was, she left the classroom to head to the Library once more before dinner and Astronomy this evening.
Saturday was the meating with the teachers that had to include not only Lockheart but Dumbledore as well.
"Well Pomona, why have you called this meeting though we should make this quick? We don't want to leave the students unsupervised for long," said Dumbledore in a voice that sounded like a kind grandfather scolding his grandchildren.
"Well Albus we seem to have a student that is a little too smart for the year that she is in," as Sprout said. All the teachers except Lockheart and Dumbledore knew exactly who she was talking about. Even the elective teachers knew who Sprout was talking about because even though they had yet to have in their classes she had come to them asking questions that not even they had thought of and quoting the textbooks like it was no big deal.
"Ah yes if you are talking about then I wholeheartedly agree she should be moved up to a higher level." This shocked everyone as they listened to Dumbledore. They knew he favored the Gryffindors, but to discuss a student who is exactly where she needs to be cause yes even though Hermione is smart she is not of Azalea Wyllt's level of intelligence. Hermione is just at the top of her year but even she isn't able to directly recite a book after only reading it once and able to do every spell or potion perfectly on the first try. No Hermione is just smarter than average and deserves that title of first place in her year. Well for now.
"No, we mean Azalea Wyllt, the first year that is able to do everything perfectly even with more advanced spells that are not taught till third year." The one who spoke this time was actually Snape and that shocked people more than Albus Dumbledore favoring a Gryffindor over everyone.
"Yes exactly Severus" Sprout nodded along to his statement.
"Oh, is she in Gryffindor? I don't recall her name being with the Gryffindors." even Lockheart is confused because even he knows that the girl was a Hufflepuff.
"No she is a Hufflepuff, that is why I called this meeting and not Minerva." Sprout at this point had lost her smile and was glaring at the older man.
"Well I guess if she can pass the exams from last year for the first years she can move up, she just has to be put with the Gryffindors for all her classes." After this statement Dumbledore got up and left leaving all of the teachers, but Lockheart, furious over the blatant favoritism towards Gryffindor that he showed.
While this was going on our favorite witch was in the Library with her friends Luna, Ginny and Hermione talking about the foods they like and the things they like to do for fun. Though Hermione and Lea both had to explain to Luna and Ginny some things that are muggle to them they even had to explain to them what Disney was. It broke their hearts that they had no idea about any of the Princess movies that they loved. They hadn't even watched the newly released movie Fern Gully and didn't even know of the new movie Aladin that is to be released in November. The horror that went through the two muggle-raised girls was astronomical.
Sunday went a little differently for Azalea, at breakfast Sprout asked to talk to her afterwards in her office. Lea had to ask someone for directions but she was able to find it and luckily it was by the other teachers' offices so she never had to go hunting for them or ask someone for directions. When she arrived she realized all of the heads of houses were there and she wondered if she was in trouble or not. Though of course she wasn't, she was still scared.
"Hello Lea, we just want to have you take a test on some of the material since we noticed some things this week." The first to speak in this kind manner with a kind smile was a shock to almost everyone present. Snape had a warm smile on his face as he looked towards his new favorite student. It took awhile for the other teachers to get over their shock but when they did everyone went straight to the tests. Azalea is used to taking tests like this, so she had no problem with doing it and actually breezed right through everything, even some of the dates on the History of Magic test that not even the teachers could remember from their readings as a child.
After only a few hours and all the practicals Azalea finished the test with 30 minutes of lunch left. The teachers were not expecting her to finish this early, they were expecting the written portion to be done around lunch, not the whole entire thing.
As Lea left for lunch she left behind her teachers and the shocked looks on their faces. Later after they had graded everything Azalea Wyllt in the history of Hogwarts to ever move up to a different year level. What only Snape and the Wyllt Family knew was that she had actually moved up to year levels and not just one.
