Jay and Hailey Halstead were enjoying a quiet evening in their dimly lit living room, savoring a glass of wine. The cozy atmosphere was a welcome change from their usual hectic lives. Jay smiled, appreciating the moment.

"This is nice. Just the two of us, some good wine…"

Hailey laughed softly. "Yeah, it's been a while since we had a quiet night in."

Their peaceful evening was abruptly interrupted by a loud banging on the door. Jay and Hailey exchanged worried glances. "Who could that be at this hour?" Jay wondered aloud.

Hailey got up and cautiously approached the door. When she opened it, she was shocked to see her father, visibly drunk and swaying slightly.

"Hailey Anne Upton! You think you can just ignore your old man?" he slurred.

"Dad? What are you doing here?" Hailey asked, her concern evident.

Jay stood up and moved towards the door. "Sir, maybe you should come inside and sit down," he suggested.

Hailey's dad stumbled in, waving a hand dismissively. "I don't need to sit down! I need to talk to my daughter!"

Hailey closed the door and guided her father to the couch, while Jay watched closely, ready to step in if needed. "Okay, Dad. Let's talk. What's going on?" Hailey asked gently.

The scene faded out as Hailey and her father sat down, with Jay standing protectively nearby.

Later that night, Hailey's dad was still on the couch, his drunken state unchanged. Hailey sat next to him, trying to keep her composure, while Jay stood nearby, watching the situation closely.

"Dad, what's this about? Why are you here?" Hailey asked calmly.

"Your mother… she left me, Hailey. And it's all your fault!" her father shouted angrily.

"What? How is it my fault?" Hailey was shocked.

"You always took her side! You never supported me!" he accused, his voice rising.

"That's not true! I tried to help both of you!" Hailey's voice was getting upset.

The argument escalated, and Hailey's dad became more agitated. He stood up abruptly, causing Hailey to stumble back into a glass counter, which shattered on impact.

"Hailey!" Jay rushed over to help her up, checking to make sure she wasn't seriously hurt. He then turned to Hailey's dad, his expression darkening.

"That's enough! You need to leave, now."

"And what if I don't?" Hailey's dad challenged defiantly.

Jay stepped closer, his voice low and threatening. "If you don't go, I will make sure you regret it. You don't get to hurt her and stay here."

Realizing Jay was serious, Hailey's dad stumbled towards the door, muttering under his breath. "Fine, I'm going…"

Jay watched as Hailey's dad left, then turned back to Hailey, who was visibly shaken. "Are you okay?" he asked softly.

Hailey nodded, tears in her eyes. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thank you, Jay."

clutched Jay's sleeve tightly, chewing on it for comfort. Jay headed straight for the ER entrance, but Nurse Leah, the receptionist, intercepted them.

"You need to fill this out first. Take a seat over there," Leah said, handing Jay a clipboard.

"Leah, she's hurt. We need to see a doctor now," Jay said, frustration evident in his voice.

"Everyone here is hurt, Jay. Fill out the form," Leah replied firmly.

Jay sighed heavily, knowing there was no point in arguing further. He guided Hailey to a nearby chair and sat down next to her, starting to fill out the clipboard. Hailey sobbed quietly, her grip on Jay's sleeve tightening.

"Jay, I can't… I can't do this…" Hailey sobbed.

"I know, baby. Just hold on a little longer. Will's here, he'll help us," Jay said softly.

Just then, Will Halstead walked out from the back, spotting Jay and Hailey. He approached them, looking concerned.

"Jay? Hailey? What's going on?" Will asked, confused.

"She got knocked into a glass counter. She's really shaken up and might be hurt," Jay explained, standing up while still holding Hailey's hand.

"Alright, let's get you into a treatment room," Will sighed.

Will helped Jay guide Hailey into a nearby treatment room. Jay stayed close, his protective arm around Hailey as they walked.

In the treatment room, Will helped Hailey onto the examination table and started checking her over, while Jay stood by her side, holding her hand.

"Hailey, I'm going to take a look, okay? Just try to relax," Will said gently.

"Okay…" Hailey nodded, still teary-eyed.

Jay squeezed Hailey's hand reassuringly, his eyes never leaving her face. "You're going to be okay, Hail. We're here for you," he said softly.

Will continued his examination, with Jay standing protectively by Hailey's side.

Later, Will looked up at Jay, knowing they needed to check for any injuries. "Jay, I need you to lift Hailey's shirt so I can see if there are any cuts or bruises," he said gently.

Jay nodded, turning to Hailey with a reassuring look. "Hail, I need to lift your shirt a bit, okay? Will needs to check for any injuries," he said softly.

Hailey nodded, tears streaming down her face. Jay carefully lifted her shirt, but she started to sob harder, her body trembling.

"Jay, please…" Hailey sobbed.

"I know, baby. I'm right here. Just a little more, okay?" Jay said gently.

Jay gently took the hem of her shirt out of her pants, being as careful as possible. He lifted it just enough for Will to see her abdomen. Will examined her closely, looking for any signs of injury.

"You're doing great, Hailey. Just a few more seconds," Will said softly.

Jay kept his eyes on Hailey, his hand gently stroking her hair to comfort her. "You're so strong, Hail. We're almost done," he whispered.

Will finished his examination and nodded to Jay, indicating that he could lower her shirt. "No major injuries, just some bruising. She'll be okay," Will reassured.

Jay carefully lowered Hailey's shirt and pulled her into a comforting embrace, holding her close as she continued to cry.

"It's over now, Hail. You're safe," he said softly.

Hailey clung to Jay, her sobs gradually subsiding as she felt his comforting presence.

"I'll get some ice for the bruising. Just keep holding her, Jay," Will said gently.

Jay nodded, continuing to rock Hailey gently as Will left the room to get ice.
